Author's Note: Now let me start by saying this is something I sincerely hope does not happen in the show, but I felt like I had to write it. I also wrote this because I deeply disgree with anyone who thinks that Merlin would not be angry and confront Gwen if he found out she was betraying Arthur. Chapter 9: Confrontation (part 1 of 5)
"How could you?"
Gwen winces at the accusatory tone. "Y-you don't understand. I love Lancelot. I always have. Even longer than I've loved Arthur."
"That's not an excuse Gwen!"
This time she can't help flinching. Merlin had never raised his voice to her before, but she couldn't say she didn't deserve it. He continued furiously, eyes flashing with anger and disappointment.
"You chose to marry Arthur. You shouldn't have done that if he didn't have all of your heart, if you ever doubted he was who you wanted. It wasn't fair to him."
"I-I know…. Please Merlin, don't tell Arthur."
