The updates for "A Beast Among Fairies" is done. Now I need to do the updates for this. Although I don't think I'll be able to update this story with two chapters back to back this month. Like I said I want to try and post another story. Plus, I kinda told a friend of mine on this site about it. She doesn't really write stories anymore, but she still kinda reads. And she loves what it's gonna be based on. Maybe I shouldn't have told her. I know she's gonna be on my back about it for the entire month until I post that first chapter. Oh well. Anyway, it's nice to see that those of you so far are enjoying the concept of "Monkey See, Monkey Do." That kinda was the intended effect it was supposed to have. So let's try and keep the ball rolling, yeah?
StarxShatter, I don't know who I will have Baba be the 5 fighter. It could remain at four for all I know. Master Mutaito? Hmm…that's actually not a bad idea. I'll keep him in reserve for later. That man is powerful.
New Encounters, New Adventures
Goku and his grandfather just stood in the same spot as the automobile drew nearer and nearer. Even from its distance, the sound of its speeding engine was drowning out the many calls of nature through the forest they've grown used to hearing. Gohan couldn't help but feel a mix of elation and curiosity. He's never had any other form of company to help occupy his time with. At least not when it came to humans. There were multiple animals in the surrounding area of course, and yes; there were those that could speak too. There were also the letters that he and his good friend, as well as his martial arts mentor Master Roshi, would write to each other.
But it wasn't the same as having an actual person to commune with. Goku dropping into his life was one of the best things that could ever happen to him and he couldn't express that happiness enough. The boy eased his desire for that need of companionship and strangely, made him realize he, somewhere along the line, longed for a family. Even if it was just one grandson and nothing else. He no longer had that sense, mentally or physically of being alone and he felt he didn't need more. Though that's where his curiosity comes into place. People don't travel through these parts. Not for camping, not for hiking, not even to pass through to travel to another location. Gohan would even sometimes believe that Mt. Paozu was borderline remote. Guess he wasn't completely right about that.
'But still…why would someone wish to travel all the way out here?' He thought, while tugging at the bottom of his beard a few times.
For Goku he didn't know what to expect. The bits of knowledge that Gohan had taught him over the years of the modern world hadn't prepared him for an actual encounter with anything from it. He wasn't nervous of course. He's has never and probably will never be nervous about anything. Though like Gohan he too was curious but for his own obvious reasons. He wanted to know what a person from a big city, which he deduced because of the car, was like. How they lived, what they do to pass the time or have fun, what they eat, the small things. Though he didn't like how the car wasn't losing any speed the closer it got. If it came down to it he was ready to knock it away with his indestructible Power Pole that was on his back.
"Goku." Gohan said making Goku look up to his grandfather.
"Yeah, grandpa?"
"This person, whoever they are, lives a life that is much different from ours. So there's a chance some things you might mention will be considered…" Gohan turned his head up a little and tried to think of the right words to say, "…um…unusual."
"Things like what? You mean…like having a tail?" He asked glancing behind him to see it wavering around.
"Well…yes. There is that. You're one-of-a-kind Goku. Just make sure to be yourself, and if this person is a girl what have I told you to do?"
"Be as polite as I possibly can." Goku said with a nod.
Gohan closed his eyes for a few seconds and said with a smile, "That's my boy."
The car finally had been getting closer to their position and it began to slow down until it stopped completely in front of them. The two waited for a few seconds until the door on the driver's seat opened up. Out stepped a young teenage girl. She had unnatural colored blue hair tied in a red ribbon and a ponytail. A pink short-sleeve shirt with 'BULMA' written on the front and a short skirt. A brown glove on her right hand, with blue sneakers. Finally she had a blue small bag attached to a brown belt she wore.
Goku tilted his head at the newcomer. This was his first time seeing another person, besides his grandfather obviously. Also she was thinner and scrawnier than anything he'd imagine. 'Wow. This must be a girl. They're a lot different looking up close.' He thought.
"Oh. Hi there. I didn't expect to see anyone all the way out in the mountains like this." The girl said to them.
"Likewise," Gohan said, "to be honest we both live here by ourselves. I'm really the one who's surprised to see anyone else come to these parts. Especially a young lady, such as yourself. It's never happened before."
The girl looks around before looking down to Gohan. "Well this place is kinda not where a person would want to visit, much less live. Not with all the dangerous creatures that can be found here. I mean these mountains are even cut off from any form of modern civilization."
"I would imagine so. I did move here for the peace and quiet to live out the rest of my days. Oh, I'm sorry. I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Gohan," He places a hand on Goku's head and rubs it slightly, "this boy right here is my grandson."
"Hello," Goku said with a wave, "My name's Goku. So you're a girl? Wow…you're so much different looking than I thought."
"Oh my gosh. You mean to say you've never seen a girl before?" She questioned surprised. Goku shook his head. "No. You're the first one."
"I found Goku when he was just a baby. He was alone, crying in the woods. So I raised him myself. But because of that he's never experienced anything outside of these mountains. I taught him as much as I possibly could. I showed him the magazines and books I collected over the years but those can only do so much to educate a child." Gohan said removing his hand from Goku's head.
The girl blinked in surprise and leaned forward a little. "Oh wow. I never would've imagined."
"So anyway who are you young lady?" Gohan asked her. He could clearly see what had to be her name on the front of her shirt but it would only seem fair if she introduced herself.
"My name is Bulma. It's a pleasure to meet the two of you. You seem like nice people." She said with a bit of a smile. She held out her hand to which Gohan promptly took and they exchanged a handshake.
"Bulma?" Goku wondered at the strange name before he laughed a bit. "That's funny!"
Bulma slightly glared at the monkey tailed boy. "Hey, Goku's not exactly normal, so there."
Goku stopped laughing and instead gave a grin. "Hehe, yeah, but it's not as weird as yours." After the statement he had gained the giggles again.
Gohan looked down to his grandson. "Now, now, Goku. What did I just say? Make sure to be polite." Goku stopped giggling and looked back at the old man. He gave a small nod while Gohan turned his attention to Bulma once more, who was still giving him a look.
"Please excuse him. He didn't mean to upset you. Like I've said he's never experienced anything that wasn't from what he grew around." He said.
"Well it would still be nice if he knew some manners. I mean really." She said with a huff.
"Excuse me. You're driving a car. So does that means you came from one of the big cities?" Goku asked. She stopped giving her slight glares and nodded to him with crossed arms.
"You got it." She confirmed. Goku smiled. "Awesome! So that means you have a lot to tell about what the city you're from is like. Grandpa, can she come have lunch with us?"
Gohan smiled at seeing how excited his grandson was. It's always been a bit of a dream of Goku's to know what the world was like outside of these forests and mountains. But he's never had the guidance or the transportation needed to help him find his way throughout the vast unknown. 'I wonder if this young lady will be able to provide that for him. I think it'll do the boy a lot of good.' Ceasing his thoughts he answered Goku's question.
"I think that's a wonderful idea Goku. I'd like to know a bit more about Ms. Bulma myself." He looked at her. "That is if you're interested. You seemed like you were in a rush to get to somewhere else."
"Ms. Bulma?" She waved her hand lightly. "Oh, you're just too kind. But Bulma is good enough for me. Now," Bulma held out her hand, "hold on just a second please." She dug into her bag attached to her belt and pulled out some form of radar that Gohan and Goku weren't able to see. Though they did hear a distinct beeping noise from it. 'It looks like the Dragon Ball is right down the road. Maybe it's at their house over there.' She placed the radar back in her bag. "Well alright. So what's on the agenda?"
"Well…we can have lunch, maybe exchange a few tales and endeavors of our own experiences and whatnot. And if it gets to be too late in the day than you're welcome to stay the night and leave tomorrow." Gohan suggested.
Bulma slightly turned and gave Gohan a shifty look. "Wait. You're not one of those creepy guys that tries to do improper things to women, like a common pervert, are you?" Gohan couldn't help but gasp at the assumption. While it was true that he did appreciate a gorgeous woman's figure he also held respect for the opposite sex. He couldn't possibly find it in his heart to degrade women, or himself for that matter, in such a way.
He shook both hands and his head. "Oh heavens, no! I would never do something so improper to any woman! Especially a nice young lady such as yourself. Besides, I'm past my prime anyway so I don't think I could even attempt something along the lines of that. Even if I wanted too." Though that didn't apply to a certain someone he knew. 'And even after all this time I still don't believe Master Roshi had changed one bit.'
Bulma stared at Gohan a little longer and then nodded with a smile. "Alright. You seem like a nice guy so I wouldn't mind taking you up on that offer of yours." Though in reality she was really looking forward to that Dragon Ball.
"Grandpa…doesn't improper mean 'to do something wrong'? Why would she think you'd do that?" Goku asked in a curious tone. Gohan blinked a few times and turned his head a bit with a bit of a sweatdrop. Bulma couldn't help but giggle at how naïve the boy was.
'Guess Gohan didn't teach him about that yet. This kids so innocent that he's adorable.' She thought.
Gohan just nervously laughed and waved his hand. "Oh, it's nothing Goku. You'll…understand when you're a bit older. Anyway let's go. It'll take a while to get the food ready.
"So what are we having anyway?" Bulma asked. Goku pointed to the side. "That." He said.
She looked to see a fish, much, much bigger than she had ever seen before. "Fish, huh? Well I guess that'll be alright." She said, while Goku went to grab the tail of the fish and drag it that way. Gohan followed right after as well as Bulma. She didn't see the harm in leaving her car right here. It's not like anyone or anything would steal or destroy it. She figured there were no dangerous creatures in this part of the forest, since these two seemed to be living so comfortably out here. Plus their little house wasn't too far away either. It would seem a bit irrelevant to drive it the rest of the way.
Soon the three were standing in front of their house. "Wow. That's a nice little place you have here." Bulma said, though she couldn't help but notice how much smaller it looked up close. It seemed to only have space for two people to sleep, so she didn't know what Gohan was thinking when he said that she could stay for the rest of the night. She wasn't completely sure she was going too but it would be a bit rude to ignore a person providing hospitality like this.
"Thank you. I know it may not seem like much but it's enough." Gohan said. "Goku, you get the spark rocks. I'll set up the fire and get the fish ready."
"Okay." Goku said before turning to Bulma. "C'mon on. You can check out our house from the inside if you like." Without saying anything she followed him in. The moment she stepped foot inside she couldn't help but take in the small bit of atmosphere. There were two wooden beds, with one on each side that had thin curtains hanging from the ceiling. Both had comfortable looking mattresses though. She idly wondered where in the world they came from but didn't honestly care either way.
'A little fancy for people who live out in the mountains.' She thought.
Continuing the "inspection" she saw a large wooden drawer, with a short red marble table at the center. A bookshelf that was stocked with a variety of (non-perverted) magazines, children's books, mathematical books dictionaries; both large and small ones, and regular reading books to pass the time with. A red chest on top to the bookshelf and some weights on both sides of the doors against the left and right walls. Another shelf that had many pots and boxes of unknown contents, with some pots on the ground. There was a big purple chest near the left window. Though that seemed to be about it.
'Where in the world do they use the bathroom!?' She thought frantically.
"Now where did we put those spark rocks?" Goku said and he went to go rummage around the house. While that was happening Bulma's bag started to faintly glow and give a sort of echoing noise. She gasped and lifted the clasp to her bag where the radar was, to see two orange crystal spheres. One had 5 red stars on it while the other had 2 and they were faintly glowing.
"The Dragon Balls…they're reacting again. But…if so than that means…" She glanced around the house to see if anything seemed to have been out of place at the moment. When her eyes fell on the red chest on the bookshelf she nearly gasped again. From the crack of the closed lid was a faint yellow glow. "Is that really…" She walked over and grabbed the chest and sat it down on the table in eagerness. The noise having caught Goku's attention. He stopped looking for the spark rocks momentarily to see Bulma open the lid to his Grandfather's chest, where he kept his most unique possession.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing!? You can't go messing with other people's stuff like that!" He declared as he quickly moved over to her. Just as Bulma was about to reach inside Goku grabbed the other end of the chest to take it away. But Bulma wasn't having any of that as she grabbed the front part and tried to pull it back.
"What's the big idea!?" She yelled.
"I should be saying that! You're not allowed to go through my grandpa's things! And you were gonna steal what was inside, weren't you!?" He yelled back at her.
"What!? No! You don't understand, kid!"
"I understand alright! I understand you're a thief!"
They both pulled their hardest with neither willing to budge. Though Goku was physically stronger Bulma was taller, so she tried to use all of her weight and longer reach to her advantage. They both lost their grip on the chest and flew back, crashing into a few things. Bulma shook her head and saw the Dragon Ball fly out of the chest. She moved quickly and dived for it. She landed on the short table with it secure in her hands, before giving a sigh of relief. She wasn't too sure that these things were really that easy to break since they're magic but she's been delicate with the first two so far. She wasn't going to start taking chances now.
"What in the world is going on in here?" Gohan asked from the door. Goku sat up and rubbed his head, after hitting it against a wall. If he were to hit anything else it probably would've broke. Bulma looked over her shoulder to see Gohan's dazed look at what transpired in here.
"Oh, well…um…" Bulma tried but Goku hopped up to his feet and pointed a finger at her.
"Grandpa! She's bad! She's trying to steal the special ball that you always keep in your red box!" Bulma then stood up and glared down to him.
"I was not trying to steal it! If you would'a just let me explain than you'd know why I wanted to see it!" She countered.
"Well you could've asked first at least!" Goku shot back.
Gohan walked inside the house and raised both of his hands in a calming manner. "Now, now, there's no need to shout. Goku, I'm sure that she has a reason for her actions. We should give her a chance to explain why, don't you think?"
Bulma couldn't help but stick her tongue out at Goku in a childish manner. That is until Gohan rounded on her. "And Bulma I think you would do well to also listen to Goku. It's rude to just rummage through other people's belongings, you know. Next time, please make sure you ask before touching anything else."
"What!?" Bulma exclaimed. "But…but…" She didn't have anything to say, knowing that Gohan was right. Now it was Goku's turn to stick his tongue out at her, to which she growled lowly at.
"But first…" Gohan went to the shelf and opened up a random box. There were small green bags lying on a purple cloth. He picked up a bag from the strings attached to its top and undid them. Tilting the bag two very white rocks fell into his palm. "I'll go get the food cooking and then we can discuss the issue that Ms. Bulma wishes to speak of."
He left the house to go spark the wood, since he already had the fish rotisserie style on some sticks just outside. With nothing else to do, but pick up the things they tripped over, Goku and Bulma waited until the fish was all ready and set up for cooking.
"So…can you tell me why you want to take grandpa's crystal ball away?" Goku asked Bulma. She held up the Four-Star Ball in her fingers.
"It's not a crystal ball Goku. This is actually something called a Dragon Ball and it's a super special and powerful artifact." She responded while holding out the ball. Goku took it in both hands and gazed at it from different angles.
"Really?" He asked.
Bulma nodded to him. "That's right, kid. But I'll tell you more about them with your grandpa too. That way I won't have to tell you both the same thing twice. Well….kinda." She did tell Goku what they were called at least but that wasn't much of anything to be honest. She didn't even get to the good part yet.
After a few more minutes had passed Gohan had called them out of the house, since the fish was beginning to cook. They both walked outside and sat on handmade wooden stools while the fish cooked over the pit of fire. Gohan had a nice sized cleaver to cut it and plates to lay the food on. But until it was ready to be eaten Gohan brought up the previous issue from earlier.
"So would you both mind telling me what happened in there? Bulma, I think you should explain yourself so that we don't believe to have misjudged you." Gohan said.
Bulma nodded. "Yeah, I know. I was telling Goku some of the reasons but it would be better if you both heard it. Now Goku…would you mind showing the trinket to Gohan?"
"Sure." Goku lowered his hands to show that he was holding Gohan's Dragon Ball. "We were talking about this grandpa. She said it was special."
Gohan took the Dragon Ball from Goku and stared at it. "This little thing? I found it many years ago when I was still settling myself here on Mt. Paozu. It was actually in the space where my house was, before I built it. I've never seen anything like it before. It seemed really valuable though, so I kept it as a sort of good-luck charm."
Bulma smirked. "Oh, it's valuable alright. See…this little beauty here is called a Dragon Ball."
"A Dragon Ball?" Gohan repeated.
"Yes, that's right. Here let me show you something." She began to dig in her bag and then pulled out two more Dragon Balls. The Five and Two-Star Balls. The moment she placed those near the one Gohan was holding all three Dragon Balls started to glow as they resonated with each other. Gohan and Goku looked at the phenomenon in awe.
"That's pretty cool, huh?" She asked already knowing the answer. She pulled away the one with 2 stars and stopped the reaction.
"But…if you have two of 'em than why do you want the one we have?" Gohan asked her.
"See, the Dragon Balls' true power is reveled when all 7 of them a brought together. They're kinda useless by themselves. Ever since I learned about these through mythology and I even found my own Dragon Ball I've been on a search for 'em ever since. Yeah, these gems have the power to do great things. And not so great. Like if a bad person got a hold of these balls he could really reek some havoc." She replied.
"Well…what do these things do?" Goku asked. Bulma placed the two she held on the ground in front of her while Gohan did the same.
"You sure you wanna know?" Goku and Gohan nodded to her silently. "Okay. Basically it's like this. The Dragon Balls are scattered all over the world. Though if someone were able to find all 7 of them and bring them together then a blazing light will fill the sky. And in that light the "Eternal Dragon" is supposed to be released from the power of the Dragon Balls, with the sole purpose of granting anyone a single wish. Whatever it is. You could even bring the dead back to life if you wanted."
When she was finished speaking Goku and Gohan's faces were stuck with looks of pure amazement. They never would've guess that such a thing ever existed. Of course…there was also Gohan's alien grandson if you count him. Still, the old man couldn't believe that all these years he was holding onto an artifact that was part of some even greater power that was beyond anybody's comprehension.
"How incredible. How many people know about this amazing discovery?" Gohan asked her, his gaze now on the Dragon Balls once more.
"Honestly, not many. The truth is the three of us are some of the few people in the world that even know about the Dragon Balls, or the dragon." Bulma answered.
"You won't mix ours up with your's, right?" Goku asked her.
Bulma held up a Dragon Ball. "Don't worry. That's impossible. See each Dragon Ball has a certain number of stars in it. See, this one has 5."
Goku picked his up and smiled. "Oh I get it! The ball grandpa found has 4 stars!"
"Now you're catching on." Bulma said with a smile. She couldn't help but laugh and bit and stared at her fists in excitement. "I can't believe I already have three of the balls. If I keep this up I'll be able to wish for a boyfriend by the end of next month! This is so exciting!"
Gohan blinked at Bulma and was completely speechless from the wish she wanted for herself. He face faulted off of his seat and his foot twitched a little in the air. Of ALL the things ANYONE could use this power of a magic dragon for…she wants to use it to wish…for a boyfriend!? How…ridiculous! 'I don't think I'll ever understand teenagers.' He thought with a sigh.
"Huh? Grandpa, what's up? You just fell." Goku said a little concerned, as he looked over his grandfather's downed form. The old man go to his knees and found his way back to his stool.
"It's…it's nothing Goku. Guess I'm having some….spontaneous back problems." He replied.
"Spo…sponti…um…what?" Goku asked with a tilt of his head.
"It means something 'happened out of nowhere'." Bulma said using words and hoped that the boy understood. When he gave a nod showing that he did she nodded as well. "But anyway…you both will let me use your Dragon Ball so that I can make my wish right?"
"Hmm." Gohan placed a hand to his chin and thought. He couldn't really refuse the girl since it technically wouldn't be the right thing to do. He's not in any desire to make a wish of his own and Bulma's already been on this hunt for what seems like a while now. Even though the thing she wants to wish for seems like a waste to him he can't interfere with her quest. Especially since he himself has no need for the Dragon Ball. But if what she said was true and there are other people out there that know of these relics of ancient power than there's a high possibility this is only going to get more dangerous from here on out, and he didn't think she was truly protected. Even with that gun that's attached to the back on her skirt. That wouldn't do much against a person who was capable of the fighting prowess that he possessed. He set his sights to Goku for an instant and immediately sparked an idea.
"Alright. I don't see any harm in it. I have no use for the Dragon Ball so letting you have it would be the better option. Especially since you're actually going to put it to use." Gohan said. Bulma jumped from her seat in glee and grabbed Gohan's hands, before rapidly shaking them.
"Oh, thank you, thank you, and thank you! You don't know how great that is to hear! I really AM on a role!" She exclaimed in happiness. She went to reach for the ball that Goku was still holding but Gohan held a hand out to her, making her stop.
"But only on one condition. I want you to take my grandson with you on your quest." He said surprising them both.
"What? Really?" Bulma said looking to Goku who stood up from his seat and walked over to his grandfather.
"Grandpa. How come you want me to go with her? Why can't I stay here with you?" He asked. None of this was spoken in sadness of course; he was just a naturally curious boy. He understood his grandfather knew best so Goku was 100% sure that Gohan wasn't trying to get rid of him in any way. The old man was a bit clingy for that to be the case.
"Listen my boy. I care for you deeply and I only ever wanted what was best for you. I know that I've done a good job of raising you too, so I can trust you and your actions, no matter where you go. But you're still just a boy. There's a whole world out there that you need to go discover and experience for yourself. A life that you can't find by staying in these mountains. New Places to visit and even more people to meet. Besides I believe that you could hone your skills even more by learning from others besides just myself and fighting opponents that can push your limits. You'd learn so much more and see things that doesn't compare to pictures. I'd be very proud if you do." After hearing his reasoning Goku smiled broadly.
"Wow! That sounds like a lot of fun! I'll go!" Goku said.
Gohan then turned to Bulma. "I hope that you don't mind this. But in case you do I've trained my grandson for years in the study of martial arts and put him through a lot of training. He could also act as your body guard if need be."
"Hey, that's not a bad idea. I mean having a travel partner sounds great, so I would've agreed anyway. But a body guard that's capable of protecting me when I need it is even better. I'd be willing to take Goku along for the ride." She said making Gohan laugh in happiness. He doesn't know what kind of deity out in the universe is listening to his wishes…but he's glad they did. If this keeps up he wouldn't even need Dragon Balls if he wanted to wish for something for himself.
"Excellent. Now with that settled, I believe that lunch is ready. While I set it up, Goku, would you mind giving her the ball?" He asked him before grabbing a big sharp cleaver knife, and working on the fish.
Goku walked up to Bulma and held out his arms. "Here ya' go. I can't wait to go on this adventure with you." She smile and took the Dragon Ball in her left hand while holding out her right to him. He stared at it for a few seconds before he grasped it with his own, in a handshake.
"Likewise. So we're partners now. Something tells me things are going to be pretty interesting from here on in." She said with a small bounce in her voice.
'Young lady…you have absolutely no idea.' Gohan thought, while slicing up the fish and placing the meat on three different plates. He could only imagine Bulma's expressions when she realizes the capabilities of what his grandson was capable of. And when he knows that she'll somehow discover later on about Goku…beastly side in the future…he had to force himself from chuckling at the expression she would probably give. Though hopefully it would never happen someday soon.
Over lunch the three shared stories about some of their experiences they encountered, since there wasn't much to talk about. Gohan spoke of some encounters during his youth and some of the people he met. One of them being a man named Roshi who taught him martial arts which he then taught to Goku, and he hoped Goku got the chance to meet him someday. Others were his experiences raising the boy in question. Some were funny…some weren't and others were just strange. Goku spoke of how he liked to train sometimes by fighting against the many beasts around this large mass of forest and plains, to which Bulma looked at him as if he was totally out of his mind; mainly how any one of these beasts can rip even a professional fighter apart limb from limb. Kinda made her wonder what kind of training Gohan made him do. Even so she was thanking her luck for finding a person that was that strong to protect her. Bulma for her part explained how she came across the legend of the Dragon Balls. Apparently she accidentally found one just like Gohan did and since she apparently came from a family of expert scientists she was able to construct a radar, which she dubbed the "Dragon Radar" to find the others. Other than that her life, besides the findings of the 2 Star Ball, was an uneventful one. Though she DID learn that Goku had a very outrageous appetite and she couldn't stop looking at him as he finished the rest of the fish, when she and Gohan couldn't eat anymore.
After lunch Bulma wished to get a move on to make headway for the closest Dragon Ball but as she looked to the sky, she saw the sun was setting. Pretty soon night would fall. Even if her and Goku did leave they wouldn't get very far before they would have to stop and set up camp for the night. Well…more like 'stop and activating a Capsule House', since she's not one for camping. It was kind of mandatory to do so when Gohan realized there really wasn't any room for her to sleep anywhere. Gohan wasn't as surprised as Goku was at the sudden appearance of the house, since Gohan's seen Capsules in use before. Both Gohan and Bulma had to explain their use in modern society and how it wasn't related to magic or witch-craft in any way. It made the monkey tailed boy even more excited to begin his travels tomorrow.
Night soon fell and there was a bit of a light breeze blowing through, whistling through the foliage of the forest. In their little house Goku and Gohan were fully dressed and were looking out of their window. They could see all of the lights had been turned off in Bulma's Capsule House, meaning she had finally turned in for the night, which is what they had been waiting for. Not only was this the last day of the month...but it was also the last full moon sighting too. Honestly Gohan had hoped that Bulma would stay the night while she and Goku left for tomorrow, so that he and the boy could get in this last bit of training. Goku especially, since Great Ape training was his most favorite kind. He would always have that extra burst of energy on these days because of how eager he would be for nightfall.
"Alright Goku. Now's the time. Let's make sure to get somewhere extra far this time. There's no guarantee Bulma won't hear all of the commotion and be woken up from it, so it's the least that we can do." Gohan said to Goku who nodded, but he couldn't stop grinning. He agreed, of course. He didn't want to scare his new friend/travel partner away but his excitement was temporarily outweighing his need to be cautious.
So they left the house and slowly closed the doors, just in case. Could never be too careful, especially with a sleeping neighbor. They didn't know if she was a light sleeper or not but tonight was a night they didn't want to find out. Like a scenario of slamming the door making Bulma wake up, then she questions where they're going in the dead of night with all of their clothing on. Gohan glanced up to the starry filled night sky. It was mostly clear, except for the few clouds that was blocking out the light of the moon. Some luck for them and extra time to get more distance before they began.
They didn't know how long they traveled but they knew it was long enough. The clouds had been blown away from the light wind and it was taking Goku all of his willpower to not look up. The light from the luminous orb taunting him, like a fish to bait. But he had to wait until his grandfather gave the 'okay' before he could do so. They were in a new location on Mt. Paozu now. Unlike the different plains they used multiple times before, this time it was a mix of that and a very rocky terrain, with many giant boulders, ledges, and mountains that were of closer viewing distance. Or in Goku's case, a shooting range. Goku bounced on his toes and Gohan looked around and observed the area to see how useful it could be to serve a giant.
He nodded and gained some distance from his grandson by jumping to a high rock and sitting on it Indian Style. "Alright, Goku. Let's begin."
"ALRIGHT! FINALLY!" He exclaimed before he removed his wrist bands, shirt and other articles of clothing. This was a mandatory process to do, since he completely ripped his first set of clothes all those years back because of the transformation. Gohan didn't want him to keep that up time and time again. But Goku being constantly naked didn't bother either of them at all. Usually parents or grandparents are used to seeing their children fully nude, considering they had to clean and clothe them at the start of a few years of their birth. For Goku, constantly striping to his 'birthday suit', as strange as it seemed, was just as natural as putting clothes on. A small side-effect of turning into a giant ape every month for the past 8 years.
With a deep breath Goku tilted his head upwards and took a longing gaze towards the moon. The effect was never instantaneous since it took a few seconds for the moon to do its job. But when it did Goku felt the full effects. The first few years he never noticed the transformation occur since he would black out a minute after he felt his pulse begin to race. When he came too he found himself standing at the height of a titan, now overlooking the landscape. Nowadays he's been able to remain fully conscious through the shift and the feeling nearly overwhelmed him every time. He's come to realize it was actually a step-by-step process.
First, Goku felt a sharp tingling spark go off in the deepest reaches of his brain that, was also relayed through his tail, making it spasm. His heart rate began to slowly increase with each passing second. His eyes turned red which briefly enhanced his vision. He felt his teeth lengthen and grow sharper, unconsciously running his tongue across his canines. He began to twitch and pulse and his muscle's began to bulge out and expand dramatically. The red iris and pupils in his eyes vanished entirely, leaving only the sclera to be seen. Goku could feel his body shift and bulk; his tail and bones growing in length and density, but there was no pain. To Goku, metamorphosis felt as if he was being fueled by an unprecedented amount of adrenaline and his senses were becoming overloaded. They grew more and more sensitive with each passing second. Now came the tingling sensation that swept across his body as the mass of brown fur grew everywhere. First in a slight fit of itchiness, which then transformed into a warm blanketing-like sensation. His big toes began to shift and move to the sides of his feet, becoming hand-like. Finally his facial features. His mouth grew out into a muzzle, and two thick tracks of fur were framing the side of his face. His ears grew and became pointed, while his eyes were completely red now as he gazed across the vast rocky landscape.
Allowing his instincts to grab hold of him for a bit he raised both arms into the air and let loose a deafening roar, that echoed into the night. No doubt disturbing all the animals in the nearby and far off vicinities. The boy turned ape began to pound away at his furry, muscled chest and released more earth shaking roars for a few more seconds before he calmed down. Goku placed his arms to his side and breathed deeply, coming back to his natural senses.
"Hahaha, I'll never get tired of that!" The Great Ape laughed, grinning towards the moon. The one object that can ever bestow him with this magnitude of strength. Sometimes he wondered why that was, but disregarded the thought time and time again. It was easier to not question something he might never find the answer to in his book. Especially if it was beneficial.
"I can see that. Especially considering you do it every time you transform Goku. I can't help but notice you seem to actually enjoy this transformation of your's." Gohan said, hopping up a few more rocks to get to a higher point, as to look his gigantic grandson in the face properly. "In fact, I would say you've grown, not literally, even more attached to being a Great Ape over the years."
"Yeah. I don't know why, but I like it a lot. I mean being like this feels…um…what's the word?" Goku thought to say rubbing his head.
"I think you mean to say 'natural'." Gohan finished for him, making the ape nod.
"Yeah. Something like that. Plus being a Great Ape is still super cool!" He exclaimed with a big fanged smile making Gohan laugh.
He could still remember all those years ago when Goku first transformed and he immediately hated it outright. Knowing he could turn back to normal changed his attitude about his 'other self' immediately afterwards. Now he can never wait to become like this. There were a few instances where Gohan became worried that Goku would lose control, especially after the performance he likes to put on every time the transformation's complete, but that's never shown. However he does it, Goku stays himself through the entire ordeal no matter what. Now all Gohan hopes is that he stays that way, but something tells him that won't be much of a problem.
"Well…this is going to be our last night together Goku. After this we won't see each other for quite some time. Because of that we're going to have to make the most of training right now." Gohan said.
"Okay grandpa. Let's do this."
Once again they commenced their night of training. Gohan made sure to make all of Goku's sessions as grueling as possible. Be it either day or night. As always they started out with the basics or cardio and speed workouts. Goku had to run a total of 30 laps, around the massive earth covered field. To not slow his pace he was forced to dodge the huge rocky stalagmites that reached to his the middle of his chest. There used to be a time where trying to maneuver his bulky legs like this would either result in him either kicking something down/over or had the massive ape tripping all over himself. Not to mention he had to get used the power and length of his tail, so it didn't break anything either. The efforts to increase his strength seemed to be getting harder and harder with each passing year. Goku's ape form seemed to adapt to any continuous amount of strain that was placed upon it so Gohan kept having to improvise time and time again. Bench pressing a massive boulder, climbing up and down mountain sides a few times, even doing a multitude of different kinds of push-ups since his body was a large ton of weight itself. With all of those methods now producing no results anymore Gohan focused on other aspects.
He worked to have Goku learn to hone his increased senses over time. Mainly his sight, hearing and smell. Gohan would take a small but noticeable object, basically something shiny, and throw it in a random direction, with Goku not being allowed to look. He would cover said object in whatever bearable fragrance he was in possession of or he could find. Goku would have to hear the whizzing air telling the direction of where said object flew. He would then try to sniff for the specific scent that coated the object to help pinpoint its location. When Goku was confident he was in the right area it would only take a bit of visual searching before he found what he was looking for. Since this wasn't particularly easy and took time to complete they only did it once every night. The martial arts practices became more intense but they also became easier as well. Goku was now capable of nearly matching the acrobatic and flexible expertise he possessed in his normal form and was pretty swift with his strikes; no matter how much extra bulk he had.
At the end of the night was Goku's favorite lessons.
Energy Beam blasts.
Since he had finally mastered to harness his ki last year to project his Mouth Beam attack, Goku had been eager to train with it even more than his previous exercises. Though since he didn't really know how else he should work on it, Gohan came up with ideas for him. Gohan had described that he too was able to project his energy outwards and demonstrated for the boy by firing off a small ki beam from his fingertips, to cut a short but thick tree in half. Gohan described how performing something of that feat took a level of precision and control the boy didn't have yet. So they settled for the Mouth Beam instead. Gohan realized that while Goku's attack is incredibly destructive and powerful it has two weaknesses. The few seconds of charge time and the amount of times fired.
No matter how strong Goku got it always took a total of 5 seconds of gather the energy before he released it. Plus the more he used it the quicker he exhausted himself, especially with the continuous use. Releasing a blast to decimate mountain ranges would tire anything out. Even giant alien gorillas. So Gohan's solution was that Goku would charge the beam with less energy before firing. This method cut down the charge time by 2 seconds and the beam instead became a blast. Using even less energy allowed for a rapid fire of 3 blasts. When used on a mountain the Mouth Blast blew off a good portion of it instead of the whole thing but it was what Goku needed if he had to hit multiple targets from a distance, while not wasting much energy in the process.
Afterwards, when the special training was finished, they turned in for the night. Goku sleeping in a, somehow comfortable, position against a big cliff. His grandfather lying his head against his fuzzy arm. Gohan made sure to gather the boy's clothes so they don't accidentally get destroyed or ruined. Before they knew it, morning had come.
When Gohan and Goku walked back to their house in the morning they were surprised to see Bulma sitting on one of the wooden stools. She elbow was resting on her knee and her head in her hand as she slept. Her hair seemed a bit…uneven and there were a few bags under her eyes. Her Capsule House was gone meaning she returned it to its confined form.
"Uh oh. It looks like someone didn't get much sleep." Gohan said while he walked over to wake her. Goku ran into their house to get his Power Pole. When he came out he saw Bulma was standing up and stretching.
"Huh? Oh…hey there Gohan." She said before giving a loud yawn.
"My word. You…well…did you not get enough sleep?" He asked her, concerned. Bulma yawned again.
"I was…for about an hour. Next thing I know I hear some very loud roaring from out of nowhere. Spooked me half-to-death. It didn't stop there, though. There were a bunch of loud booming noises and I felt the ground shake a few times. I was too scared to get back to bed, with something like that going on. I thought a monster was gonna come out from nowhere and probably crush my house or something. Now…I'm running on nothing but fumes and caffeine." She replied in a slight downcast.
Gohan and Goku blinked before looking at each other with sweat-drops. They knew that Goku was being very loud last night. It was impossible not to be as a giant hulking beast…but they didn't know they were also disturbing Bulma.
'More like traumatized.' Gohan thought before clearing his throat. "Actually Bulma, you're half-right. That was a giant beast that you heard last night. It actually travels all around the mountains and likes to come here on the nights of the full moon. But he's not dangerous…unless provoked of course."
"Ah! You're kidding!" Bulma exclaimed now fully awake. "You mean to say there really is some kinda huge monster living here!?"
"Yes," Gohan replied with a nod, "there is. But as I said there's nothing to worry about. He's already left somewhere this morning. We don't know where he goes but we never question it."
Bulma leaned in a bit closer. "You've seen it!? What does it look like!?"
"Well…a massive fifty story ape." He said.
Bulma's mouth hung open from the basic but also unimaginable description. A giant ape monster!? She's never heard of anything like that before. Well…unless you count that old King Kong movie but that wasn't real. To think there was actually something in the world that was actually like that.
"D-did you just say…a massive ape? Are…you serious!?" Bulma exclaimed making Gohan nod and said, "I'm incredibly serious."
Bulma nearly fell back into her seat. "Oh wow. So…I got the 'luck of the draw' when I came here, huh?" She sighed and walked forward digging into her blue bag. "Well that kinda brought down my morale a bit. But hopefully this is going to bring it back up in no time. Goku, come here real quick."
"Uh, okay." He walked over to Bulma, who held down the Dragon Radar so he can properly look at it. She clicked the top and turned it on. Three Dragon Ball signals were at their location. Two were at the north, but seemed a bit spaced apart. One was at the east and the final one was west. That signal was fading in and out "So which Dragon Ball are we going for first?"
Bulma points to the one that kept fading and reappearing. "Well…it looks like the closest ball is right here. About 750 miles to the west."
"Is that far?" Goku asked.
"Let's just say that it's out of our walking distance. But it's a good thing we still have my car." She put away the radar and opened up her capsule case. "I was worried that ape monster might come here and destroy it. Then I wouldn't be able to get my motorcycle to escape in time, so I put it away."
Goku scratched his cheek and mentally grimaced a bit. Did he seriously frighten her that much? "Well…like we said, it never comes here."
"Precaution never hurt anyone." Bulma said as she pulled out her Capsule Case. She picked the one that held her car and pressed the button. Goku made sure to take a few steps back since the use of Capsules still made him a bit uneasy. Who knows what could pop out of those things one day? Though as Bulma said, all that was left from the smoke was the car that she arrived in. "Alright! It's time we shove off!" She declared, heading to the driver's seat.
"Wait a second." Goku asked her. Bulma stopped and turned to him confused but soon understood why. Goku had to go give Gohan a goodbye hug, to which the old man returned. "Good bye, grandpa. I'll miss you a lot."
Gohan petted his head. "I know I'll feel the same way. It's going to be pretty quiet without you here, Goku. But don't worry about me. Our paths are going to cross again, someday. Go on now. Your adventures await you. I hope that they are very grand ones."
Goku separated from him and gave a big smile followed by a nod. "Right! I will! And…thank you!" He looked to Bulma and ran over to the car. "Alright! Let's go Bulma!" Goku then opened his own door into the passenger seat. With a smile of her own Bulma waved good-bye to Gohan and got inside herself. She started up the engine, which startled Goku a bit but he soon relaxed from the steady rhythm. That relaxation was short lived after Bulma zoomed ahead, taking the path that led through the rest of Mt. Paozu.
Gohan stood in his same spot with his arms behind his back. A smile graced his face as the car soon left his vision. "Good luck my boy. I wish you the best of luck in your journeys. Train hard and remain compassionate to those around you. I can't wait to see what the future will hold for you."
Back with the two in the car, they had gotten considerably far out from their original location in the span of ten minutes. She had stopped right at the base of a small hill and climbed out of the car. This made Goku get out of his side as well. "Bulma, what's up?"
Bulma seemed a bit embarrassed and covered his mouth with her gloved hand. "Excuse me a minute, Goku. Time for a pit stop."
Not really understanding Goku replied, "Uh, okay. I'll come too."
Bulma instantly got angry and clenched her fists. "Oh no you won't! Don't the words 'pit stop' mean anything to you!? Stay right there!" She ran over to where a giant boulder was.
"Pit stop!? What does that mean!?" Goku called out to her with a smile.
"I need to pee, you lame brain!" Bulma then turned and was behind the boulder. Goku meanwhile walked around the car and stood where Bulma was.
"Huh? I don't get it? Why can't she just pee, right here?" He scratched his head and tried to think. "What did grandpa say? Girls like to keep to themselves? I wonder why. He never told me…just that it was the polite thing to do. I guess this is what he meant."
"GOKU, COME HERE! QUICK!" Bulma shrieked. Goku turned his head to the boulder again.
"Huh? Does Bulma wanna keep to herself or not? I sure wish she'd make up her mind. Coming Bulma!" He yelled back and ran over. Rounding the boulder he found a giant pterodactyl holding Bulma and staring intently at her. The blue haired girl was busy screaming her lungs out.
"Oh, yes. You'll do nicely little girl. It's been a long time since I've had your kind before." It said in a deep male voice.
"W-w-w-what do you mean by that!?" Bulma tried to say, but her voice was nearly caught in her throat.
The pterodactyl licked his lips and smirked. "Oh, I think you know exactly what I mean. It's been a while since I've tasted your kind before."
"WHAT!?" She yelled at the top of her lungs.
"Hey, leave Bulma alone." Goku said in an even tone. The pterodactyl turned his head to see who had the nerve to tell him what to do. At the sight of Goku he blinked a few times before gasping.
"G-Goku!?" He said in shock. Goku tilted his head and stared closely at the pterosaur. A sudden image flashed into his head before he blinked himself and gave a smile.
"Jirak? Hey…Jirak! (A/N Ji-raque/Ji-rock) I haven't see you in a while!" Goku exclaimed. Jirak just nodded in agreement, Bulma being forgotten in his paw. "What are you doing with Bulma?"
"B-Bulma?" He looks down to the girl in his paw. "You mean this girl? Oh…uh," he began to sweat, "I was just…introducing myself if all. Yup! That's all it was!"
Bulma looked between the two frantically. Was Goku seriously having a conversation with this beast!? And why was it so nervous looking? "HOLD UP! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON HERE!? GOKU, WHO THE HECK IS THIS!?"
Goku gave a smile. "Oh! That's Jirak. We both met a long time ago. I helped him and his family out of a tight jam in the middle of a storm. We've been friends ever since but I haven't seen him in about…hmm…," he scratched his head, "how long has it been anyway?"
"About a year and a half since then. I still don't think I can thank you enough for saving my mate and hatchlings. I still can't believe you did it as a-" Jirak was cut off before Goku placed a finger to his mouth, to get him to stay quiet. He pointed to Bulma who was still struggling in Jirak's paw. He then understood that Goku didn't want her to know about that particular part. "Oh…well…I'm just glad you were there anyway."
"Ahem. Um…I hate to break up this nice little reunion the two of you are having but….PUT ME BACK DOWN RIGHT NOW!" Bulma shrieked making Jirak wince badly at her screeching voice.
"Yeesh. So-rry, your highness." Jirak said with a roll of his eyes as he sat Bulma down. Well…more like dropping her onto her rear making her yelp out in pain. She rubbed her behind and glared up at him. Jirak turned his head to avoid it but he had a visible smirk. "Oops. My bad. Seems like my paw slipped."
"Liar." Bulma grumbled until she felt a powerful tingling in the lower pit of her stomach. She stood up quickly and yelled to the both of them, "Will you both leave a girl to do her business in peace!? I gotta go now!"
"Go?" Jirak questioned.
"Oh right. Bulma's gotta pee and she wants us to leave her alone." Goku responded. With no more words the two males left the big rock next to the car.
"Why wouldn't she just go when we were there?" Jirak asked looking down to Goku who looked up to him.
"That's what I said. But my grandpa told me it's because she's a girl and girls like having privacy." Goku responded.
"Pfft. Human females are strange." Jirak said. Goku didn't have to say anything to let him know that he agreed. When Bulma was done doing what she was doing she came back around the massive boulder to see Goku and Jirak still standing in the same place.
"Humph, now that's better." She looked to Jirak who leaned back a bit with a slight scowl at her continuous attempts to shatter his eardrums. Bulma was both weary of and angry at this beast. He was just about to eat her…and now since Goku's here he's trying to play the innocent bystander? She couldn't described the amount of nerve he had. She turned her head in a huff and placed her hands on her hips. "Goku, it's time for us to get going. I don't wanna spend another second next to that guy."
"Huh? Why?" Goku asked her, to which Bulma glared and pointed an accusing finger to Jirak.
"Well in case you didn't hear he was just trying to make a meal outta me! You need to make better friends pronto!" Without saying anything else she angrily walked passed them. She opened and entered the car on the driver's side and started up the engine. Though before he followed her inside Goku turned to his giant friend.
"Um…were you really trying to eat Bulma back there? I don't think you're allowed to eat other people." He said. Jirak tried his hardest to give a surprised look. With the most believable gasp he could muster he placed a paw to his chest.
"Wha-me!? Eat humans!? C'mon Goku, you should know me better than that. Alright, so maybe I've done it in the past but I'm not the same pterodactyl I was back then. Besides humans are too scrawny to make a meal out of anyway. You're little lady friend is confused." He said hoping that Goku would believe him.
"Really?" Goku asked to be sure.
"Really." Jirak replied.
"Okay then. If you say so." Goku said making Jirak inwardly sigh in relief. "Sorry but I need to get going. Me and Bulma are going on a big adventure and-"
"GOKU! GET YOUR TAIL IN HERE AND LET'S GO ALREADY!" Bulma screamed from the window making them both cover their ears.
"Man. I feel sorry you gotta deal with that kid. Hope all goes well." Jirak said, while ran around to the passenger side. Before he got into the car he waved goodbye to his friend.
"See ya' Jirak! I'll tell you stories about my adventures when I come back!" Jirak only nodded and flapped his wings before taking off. He was a bit irritable since he needed to go find something else to go munch on but if anything he was glad in the end he didn't eat Bulma. Might've given him a case of indescribable indigestion. Goku for his part got inside the car and waited for Bulma to drive off. She was still upset about what happened so she wasn't going to be in much of a talking mood for a while.
They drove for hours on end into the day and the sun was beginning to set. Bulma couldn't help but admire the great amount of tie that they had made and figured it would do well to rest up for the rest of the night. Also they were both hungry and haven't eating since they left. So Bulma figured it was time to set up camp. Or better yet bring her Capsule House back out for them to use. Now Goku wasn't worried anymore about her use of the Dino Caps, though he always did wonder what other sort of contraptions were inside the rest of them. He was very curious about all of the applications and items inside of the portable building, but he recognized some of them like the television, oven and the like from those magazines. Though he had to admit…like the car actually seeing the things in work was such a different experience. Bulma had had Goku take a bath after she caught the foul odor that was coming from him.
Goku knew that small came from the long night of monster training…plus you can work up a good sweat with all of that fur. Gohan must've been so used to it that he probably didn't even notice last night. Though since the two lacked the proper cleaning products Bulma begrudgingly had to help Goku bath. Things were going smoothly at first…at least…as smoothly as they could for a boy without modern cleaning habits. But they real shocked came to Bulma when she found his tail was actually attached to his body. That would officially make this her third massive freak out in only two days. Anymore and her spirit would more than likely fly from her body.
When she asked why he had one in the first place he replied, "I don't know. My grandpa said I was born with it but he's not sure since he found me in the forest. But we think I'm the only one that has a tail."
Bulma didn't know what to think about that. She tried to rack her brain for any kinds of possibilities as to why that Goku was the result of some kinda gene-splicing experiment…or maybe he was naturally half monkey? She shuddered at that one and hoped that wasn't the case. If anything else he didn't look like a monkey so that assumption was probably completely wrong in the first place. He was one big mystery. Later at night Goku left to go forge for his own food since he didn't really have a taste for anything that Bulma was providing. He was a bit disappointed in the beginning for not finding much but he thought his luck changed when he saw this giant bird (Airplane) fly through the sky. He hunted it down but was surprised to see two people, well more like a woman and a ninja dog, where it was. He confronted them about the issue but the three were then surrounded by a big pack of wolves. Goku fought as many as he could with ease but the two ran into the plane and tried getting away. Still thinking it was edible Goku followed them into the air and kicked the plane down making it crash. So he went back to eating one of the wolves….which Bulma didn't appreciate at all. So he was forced to cook and eat it outside.
The next day…it was Goku's turn to freak out. His startling scream about discovering Bulma nether regions…weren't the same as his had woken her up from her slumber. A little later on they found a talking turtle outside of their Capsule House. He described how he needed help to get back to the ocean. Goku and Bulma bickered a bit helping him and not helping him but Goku figured it was the right thing to do. So he hefted up the turtle on his back and left…but Bulma followed right after on her motorcycle, seeing as how she didn't want to handle any danger by herself. Not like she could anyway.
Their little mini journey was nearly uneventful until they were cornered by a massive bear, with a Mohawk, samurai armor and sword. He demanded for Goku to hand over the turtle for his lunch and in exchange he would let them both live. Bulma being the oh-so-chivalrous person she was…practically demanded for Goku to hand over the turtle but the monkey-tailed boy kept refusing. Not wanting to die Bulma got ready to ditch Goku too but he instead insisted on fighting the bear, to which he made quick work of. After that little spat they made it to their destination.
"There it is Goku! I found it!" Bulma yelled to her companion. They were standing on a hill that was surrounded by tall palm trees and a mass of other greenery. The beach was just below them and beyond that was the ocean.
"Look! Look! We're really here!" Goku shouted as he and Bulma moved down. "It's huge! And blue! And beautiful! Hahaha! Whoa!" A light breeze from the ocean blew over them making their hair lightly waver. "The sea." He said mystified.
"Isn't it beautiful Goku?" Bulma asked him, feeling the same sensation of wonder.
"Yeah, it's incredible. I never dreamed that a place like this really existed." He replied.
Turtle waddled forward a bit more in front of them and took a nice look whiff of the sea water's scent. "I was starting to wonder myself. It's been so long. Thanks for bringing me back."
Goku smiled. "Hey, sure! No problem! Ha-ha-it was a lot of fun!" The sun started to shine a bit more bestowing its warm rays on them. Bulma felt so relaxed in the new temperature that she stretched out her arms and took it in a bit more.
"Well I better get going." Turtle said as he made his way into the water. He happily hummed at the long familiar feeling.
"You sure do have a happy home Turtle." Goku complimented.
"I never would've made it if it wasn't for you," he nodded, "thank you."
"Hey, anytime!" Goku replied.
Turtle swam out a bit more but not before turning to them once more. "Would you mind waiting here? I have a gift I'd like to give you to repay you for all you've done for me."
Goku and Bulma both looked confused. "A gift?" He wondered.
"What kind of gift could a turtle have, huh?" Bulma actually asked.
"You'll see. I'll be back soon. Mmhmm." With that he turned around one more time and swam off to who knows where. Bulma just hoped that whatever he brought back wasn't going to be something worthless. She'd be quite upset if he made them wait here for who knows how long and that turtle gifted them some kind of shell as repayment. So basically it was 2 hours of them doing whatever they could to kill time. Goku had no problems entertaining himself. For Bulma…well it could've been worse, that's for sure. She'd take this than dealing with anymore monsters, or bandits….or bandit monsters.
Speaking of which she saw something out in the water from the side of her vision and looked to it. "Hey, what's that? Whatever it is it's moving toward us."
"It's the turtle and he's got someone on his back." Goku said.
"Wow, it's like you got super vision or something. Pretty cool Goku."
"Hey Turtle…over here!" Goku yelled out to them.
"Ahoy there! Sorry to keep you waiting! I had to go get my master!" Turtle said.
"Man check that guy out." Said Bulma as she looked over the old man. He was very old and pretty short. He was bald yet had a nice beard and mustache combo. He wore red rimmed sunglasses, and orange shirt, white shorts and sandals. His cane was very bulbous at the top but the strangest part was the big purple hermit shell he had strapped to his back.
Seeing as no one was talking the old man decided to speak. "Well hello there kids."
AAANNNDDD….that's it for now. Sorry 'bout that. Alright, I'm not REALLY sorry. This was originally going to be longer but I don't need to explain my reasons as to why it's not. Over 12,000 words seem fitting right. Besides I wanted to get this out…AS MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT! Man…there's a good amount of people updating their stories on Christmas Eve, huh? Well…for me it's Christmas Day but who cares!? CHRISTMAS! Man I wonder what I'll get! But even if I DON'T get anything I might want I have to money to get it myself. WIN-WIN!
Wonder why Goku didn't know what a plane was? First of all...Gohan could only have so many magazines with modern pictures or at least as modern as they could get. Secondly...why would he have a magazine with a plane in it? I've never seen a magazine with a plane...doesn't mean there aren't any. But honestly, Goku shouldn't have automatic knowledge of EVERY modern thing. It would defeat the purpose of him learning about how modern life is. Though he is naive he's not AS naive.
Now I know I shouldn't and it's probably not needed…but I feel like apologizing to mellra. I mean…put up this AWESOME Halo Challenge story, "Changing the Tide of War", that I've been DYING to see on my birthday, which was the 16th. I'm officially 18 years old now. Damn Life! Stop hitting me! His birthday was on the 11th…but I didn't think this story was far along enough to post during then, so I then decided to post on Christmas.
But anyway, I'll post the next chapter of this pretty quickly but not quick enough. I'm officially making a new story after this.
A Kung Fu Panda one that I've been meaning to do since…last year? No, it was TWO years ago. But…I don't believe that I had the courage or the skills to try and do my own thing and not follow canon. But I WANT to do this! How can I know if I don't try!? So be on the lookout for that to any KFP fans. But I'm not finished with that. After I post that story then I'm posting an inFAMOUS one. That's right. And inFAMOUS one. Again…NOT gonna be part of….well I guess it CAN take place in the canon universe but it's not going to be tied to what happens in the games.
Both new stories…both focused on OC's.
Aren't I just FULL of things you like!?
Anyway…I be out. It's…2:40 A.M. and I need to go to sleep for Santa.
Read my profile. Like I said, you won't EVA' break my Christmas Spirit!
Rest in pieces bitches and Merry Christmas!
