Marty Sr., Doc, and Junior stood together outside the house, wearing some very dark clothing, hats, and sunglasses.
"Now, I have a meeting with the Jitz later, so I don't think I can come." Marty Sr. said. "But good luck. You can take my truck."
"Shocked that heap of junk still works. Especially since mine is missing." Junior replied.
"Wait, your truck is missing? But what about your present?" Marty Sr . asked.
"Sorry, dad. I guess whoever stole it must be enjoying it."
"Oh, shit." Marty Sr. groaned. "Oh shit." Marty Sr. made his way back into the house.
"Doc, what do you think he's upset about?" Junior wondered. "I mean, it's not like whatever gift he got me is that important. My birthday's in August, and last I heard, there aren't Halloween presents. Unless he got me some candy?"
"I think you need to think harder about that, Marty Jr. It's very possible, knowing Marty, that it could be a guitar, but it could even be a sandwich, or a flux capacitor…" Doc explained.
"Wait, that's it!" Junior realized. "I left it unlocked. Maybe whoever stole the iPad…"
"Also took your truck and went to the future to see Cliff? That's highly probable."
"I'm tired of these probabilities and possibilities. I just hope Suzy's okay. It could trick her, or worse."
"Is Suzy good at handling things for herself?"
"I mean, she got out of a relationship with Griff. You do the math."
"Let's just head to where Griff is. California State Penitentiary, correct?"
"That's right." Junior got in the Jaguar. "You know, I'm glad we don't have a futuristic bubble to fly around in."
"I really can't fathom how cars ended up like that in the first place, and I'm all about them!" Doc laughed, as he also entered the time machine.
"How fast do you want to go while we fly?"
"Just fast enough that it's still the 22nd when we arrive." The two friends closed the door, and began to take off.
00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Suzy found herself under some coats, before realizing she could recognize the smell.
"Ugh, Griff's gym socks are stupid." She groaned, taking the punching bag off of her, as well as one of the coats. She didn't like that Cliff was putting Griff's personal possessions in her boyfriend's car, but understood it was probably in order to help sway Griff to get the iPad. Suzy then noticed the truck was coming in for a landing, right outside of one of the California State Penitentiaries. Rain was also falling, and Suzy wished that for once, October wouldn't mean completely unpredictable weather in California. As the car landed hand, Suzy let out a small yelp, feeling a dab of pain. This was why riding in truck beds wasn't a good idea. Luckily, Cliff could not hear her, and she took a glance at him in the cab. In the rearview mirror, she noticed glowing yellow tubes shaped like a y, inside a mysterious gray box…the flux capacitor. That was how Cliff had been able to go back in time, and he has the iPad on the seat next to him. Suzy's thoughts were interrupted by Cliff getting up out of the car, with a triumphant "I'm saving your pork chops, dad."
"Bacon, moron. Glad I wasn't your mom." Suzy muttered, although she knew to keep a low profile. She sank down low as Cliff came and got Griff's coat. He had the iPad tucked under his arm, and began to go inside the prison. Suzy jumped out of the car, and took her phone. She quickly placed a call to Marty Jr.
"Suz? Where are you?" Junior asked from the other line.
"I'm at the Hill Valley California State Penitentiary." Suzy explained. "Cliff's gone inside, and he has the iPad. I'm not sure I can get in though. My thumbprint doesn't work."
"Wait, that's it." Marty Jr. said. "Do you remember how modern pictures are capable of tricking really old systems? I bet if we used a picture of Marlene, we'd be off the hook. Since she's mayor and all."
"Well, I do sort of want that erased. I do miss Marlene in the present." Suzy admitted.
"Or you could wait there. We're on our way anyway, and I think we want Cliff to think he was successful. After all, since his dad's only 19, he has two years before Griff can legally bet on a horse race." Doc explained.
"I'd be good with that. I guess I'll just sit on this bench and wait." Suzy replied. "See you guys later."
"Over and out. This will take no time at all, Suzy." Doc replied. Suzy went to sit on the bench, fishing a rather beaten-up newspaper out of the garbage. She was worried at first that someone would come out of the prison and notice her, but luckily nobody did. The articles in the paper were political and didn't interest her, other than Caroline Gray-that is, Marlene's, potential retirement. She watched as Cliff exited the facility, and was in the process of wondering how they would get out of this mess, when the Jaguar came in for a landing in front of the jail. Suzy ran to it. Doc and Marty Junior stepped out, and Suzy couldn't help but giggle as their disguises.
"Uh, Suz. You're still in your pajamas." Junior commented.
"My bad," Suzy said. "Uh, Doc, do you have anything good for me?"
"Well, I have this police uniform. Except my brother Jules modified it so that it can automatically fit." Doc answered.
Verne placed the outfit on Suzy's shoulder, and it put itself on her.
"Okay, that's actually quite a good look for you." Junior said, as they stood in front of the jail.
"Now, do we have a good picture of Marlene at her current age?" Doc asked.
"Yeah, I do." Suzy replied, handing Doc her newspaper. "Are we sure these disguises are sufficient?"
"I'd offer Junior a gray wig and some makeup from the plethora of disguises, but not sure he accepts such." Doc joked.
"Ha ha," Junior replied. "Anyways, I also have a wax copy of Marlene's thumb, complete with her actual thumbprint. When we were little, we'd make fun of Dad, by breaking our wax hands. It was rude, but we were kids, and didn't know any better."
"I'd kill for identity altering tech right now." Suzy said.
"I think my dad's working on that. But he has a lot of free time these days, since it's either that or helping Jules with his DeLorean." Doc replied.
"Let's just go. We can talk DeLorean surprises later." Marty Junior said, much to the surprise of Doc and Suzy. He showed the photo to the surveillance camera, pressed the wax thumb to the plate, and walked in as the door opened. Things were finally looking up to prevent the bleak future that was going to come to pass.
