The best laid plans of mice, men... and immortals, all share the same fate in the trap of time. The means to the ends none plan on, or make preporations for are all too frequently right in front of them, and NONE see them coming. They are as quiet as a mouse... or a mute.
"Anyone got any good ideas?," The Kunari shouted as the sea of descicated corpses lumbered up toward them, "You know, OTHER than... 'Hey, let's seek shelter in that old elven ruin in the cliff wall. We can block up the entrence...' WITHOUT a mage? Oh yeah we have a Kunari... a rogue. I'm fast, not very strong. CAROL! MANFRED! GET IN HERE!"
Two warriors were fighting through the hoard trying to grab a supply sack. They were slowly making ground, but were soon swallowed up by the mass of attackers who followed them , pushing them further from the entrance.
"This isn't helping," Bohlen muttered as he lopped off half the heads of three of the raged lifeless assailants as he pulled his elven lover back further from the entrance where she was covering the right flank, "Lost cause lover," he muttered
The mute elf had backed into he main chamber, lit only by two fade fire torches. Behind some rubble on the floor, she found an ancient rune, smiled, cut her palm on the stone's jagged edge, and wrote in ancient elvish in her own blood.
One of the warriors observed her, "No ink?", he asked as the blood turned from red to incandescent blue, and the walls shook. He grabbed the mute girl and stood before her and the wall, "stay behind me!" he ordered, "Bohlen! We have a problem!"
The wall opened to a massive entrence, leading into a stone passageway, flanked by fade-fire torches.
"Scratch that!" the warrior bellowed, and lowered his sword.
He turned and smiled at the mute, "Only an elfs blood... right?"
She nodded.
He smiled kindly, "None of Lil's other girls can read ancient elven. WE are lucky you came along."
Bohlen stood at the top of one of the two flanking stairways from the entrance, staring at the two, his face unreadable.
"We are running out of arrows!" his lover called out, before stabbing the end of her bow into the right eye socket of a corpse, "but not things to shoot them at!"
The Ferelden turned to the Kunari, "A Kunari rogue eh? How about some of that fine Pal Vallen home brew? Lets blast the entrance. We'll escape here and they will crowd the entrance to an empty ruin for days."
The warrior and the mute smiled as Bohlen turned back to them, "You understand ancient elven? We need to get you back to Val Royeaux safe."
"GET DOWN!" the Kunari suddenly shouted as he dove on and shielded Bohlen's lover from a massive wave of flame that errupted through the entry, into the main chamber, causing something to scurry away from deep within the newly discovered tunnel.
"QUICK!"the Ferelden roared, "but useless, not one stone dislodged..."
"THAT was not me," the Kunari sighed.
Manfred joined him a moment later, "We found Lil. Well, she found us. Carol is dressing her. She was dressed as usual... not."
"My ears are burning!" Lilith called as she strode into the chamber, dressed in a long, gold colored silk dress that was open to her navel, and all the way to her lower back, "and why did I need to assist you six at all? Four fifteen year olds just literaly ran passed those things... and here you all are, cornered."
"Shoosh," Bohlen's elven lover chidded the beauty, and kissed her as she caressed her breasts through the silk, "we were following you. We were setting up a proper camp to better aid in the region as we did and THEY came over... following the dragon."
Lilith grinned, "Druffalo shit,"
"We found something," the warrior beside the mute announced, and indicated the passage.
Lilith smiled broadly, and siddled up to the mute elf girl, "I'll say. I love these rare, lovely finds you come across in these unasuming places. a priceless elven treasure. What is your name my lovely?"
"She 's mute Lil," Bohlen answered sadly.
"Not to me she's not," Lilith answered, and took the elves nervous hand in hers, "Relax," the raven haired beauty sighed as she raised the elfs finger to her full lips, "It won't hurt." She cut the finger on her teeth and sipped gently, then closed her eyes as she closed the wound.
The mute stared at Lilith in mild trepidation as the beautiful malificar smiled.
Lilith was so overwhelmed by her brief taste that she almost fell over from a sudden rush of vertigo.
It took moments for her to recover, her face a mask of wonder and joy. She stared in amazement at the mute. "She sent me here, but not to protect the people, she sent me to protect YOU."
"Lil?," Bohlen asked.
"No need to elaborate further on her beyond saying this... she knew the rune was here... because she put it there - five thousand years ago."
