Authors' Note: Hey guys! Only a little bit of housekeeping this time, namely; we've gotten a lot of questions along the lines of 'wait, didn't Rose Quartz poof? Shouldn't everyone have seen she's a diamond?'

And yes, savvy readers, you're correct! However, she poofed in a dark cave filled with water. The person who picked up her gem was Pearl, who kept it tightly clenched in her fist until they got to the Fountain, where Rose began to reform under the opaque pink water.

So yes, don't worry. It's fine, no one noticed :)

Blue Diamond has requested that I use the title 'Steven' and also a different set of 'pronouns'. This means instead of using the perfectly serviceable she/her that every Gem uses, I will instead address 'Steven' as 'he' or 'him'. Perhaps it is a new way to mark Diamonds as greater than us lesser cuts.

Continued observation of my new station continues. Steven has taken me away from the main base of the defectors and up onto a nearby cliffside, with both the human settlement how very primitive as well as the runaways' base, or "Temple" as they refer to it, down below.

Still, the view here is appropriate for a Diamond, even if Steven continues to refuse his proper designation. It is more than a little odd, not to mention why he would shrink his form and coat himself in this… fleshy, yielding form. It is very peculiar, and I suspect his form may be limiting in other ways, such as his powers. Though even weakened, a Diamond's powers would be unmatchable.

And even aside from that, Steven is rather… interesting. He acts unlike any Diamond, or even any Agate or Tourmaline that I have seen. Besides our initial meeting, I have not noted him raising his voice even once, and whenever he gives orders, he always frames it as a question.

I wonder what would happen if you refuse… Perhaps that is when his voice would be raised, ha!

As everything I have seen since coming to this planet, it is rather unorthodox.

No doubt, whatever his plan is, it is merely beyond the grasp of a Peridot such as I.

Regardless, this cliffside is where Steven has setup his operations. His Palanquin is here and filled with very odd items that will require further study, when time is presented as is another, rather terrible looking structure. I was unable to inquire further, as the Pearl walked away without even a dismissal!

Note to self: Inform Steven that his Pearl is not behaving properly

The nomenclature of this designation remains unclear. What is a 'greg', and what is the purpose of a 'barn'? Preliminary investigation suggests it is a storage unit for otherwise useless junk. Perhaps these scraps are 'gregs'.

I am not sure what a 'Greg' is, or what a barn is used for. Although preliminary viewing would suggest it is used to store a wide variety of scrap and other junk.

When I inquired into the nature of my duties, Steven informed me that I am unneeded right now. I've considered asking to return to the Kindergarten, but I suspect Steven will not allow that. He seemed rather distraught when I explained what exactly I was doing when he and his Gem entourage discovered me.

Neither am I certain of the status of my current mission. All travel off the planet has been banned indefinitely, preventing me from reporting on the fusion experiments' progress, or to access further instruction from my manager. As such, I am unsure what to do with my time right now…

After being granted express permission, I commenced an inspection of Steven's Palanquin. My purpose was purely to perform a preventative diagnostic systems check-not to suggest it required any repair, of course! However, my inspection was waylaid by the many items that were accumulated around the Palanquin's interior. A partial list of the items follows:

A table constructed from a hard, organic substance Soft orbs in varying dimensions Soft models of organic lifeforms A significant collection of appearance modifiers Hollow metal cylinders filled with unknown fluids. Rudimentary physical information repositories on loose inserts

Very peculiar. Unfortunately I only managed to look through approximately 12 of the inserts before Steven entered his Palanquin, along with the Lapis Lazuli.

I presented myself accordingly, of course. But the Lapis Lazuli just stood there, behind Steven, letting her arms dangle at her side and her posture limped to the side. Perhaps she had earned some sort of special privilege with Steven. That would be logical considering the amount of water that covers this planet; her powers are most likely well used here.

Steven informed me that her and the Lapis Lazuli were only there to retrieve a pair of "binoculars", a device that can apparently enhance one's vision when used. What was more concerning however was that Steven was going to be flown through the air by the Lapis Lazuli! And she didn't even seem to realize what a privilege such a thing was. She was still just acting completely inappropriately, standing there and glaring at me! Me!

No doubt she is merely intimidated by seeing a Gem follow proper protocol.

Steven and the Lapis Lazuli had found what they were looking for, and I confirmed that I would finish my business in the Palanquin before he returned, so that I would not disrupt his busy schedule. However, he just said that would "fine" and that I was allowed to "hang out" in his Palanquin if I desired.

I'm not sure what "hang out" means, but I acknowledged it all the same as they both left. Though I know that Lapis Lazuli gave me one more jealous look before they were gone.

How Steven or anyone could put up with that Lapis Lazuli for an extended period of time, I have no idea.

My inspection of the Palanquin continues. The storage unit containing the appearance modifiers contains a metallic bar; I shall attempt to hang from it in accordance to Steven's orders. An additional addendum will be made if any notable problems are located.

No problems with the Palanquin were found. The inspection went very efficiently, and much faster than I estimated. While such speed is only to be expected in a Peridot of such caliber, I once again find myself without an assigned task.

I waited outside the Palanquin for Steven's return, but his mission with the Lapis Lazuli must have been rather important. And this planet's star is so bright and hot that after a while it became uncomfortable standing out in the open. I considered returning into the Palanquin, as Steven gave me permission to remain stationed there.

However, this seems like an extremely poor decision. Previous experience has shown that infringing upon upon a superior's space will always lead to a harsh reprimanding.

Hmm… Perhaps if I went around the back of the Palan-

The edge behind the Palanquin was completely unstable! I took one step and fell down the cliffside!

Luckily my gem is undamaged, as is my equipment, but still! I will need to inform Steven immediately of such a danger so close to his Palanquin.

However… it is unlikely he has returned to the Palanquin. And now that I am on this sandy base of the cliffside, I can see the runaway's base, in the distance, albeit with a large body of water in between it and myself. Still though, perhaps an investigation of that base would be in order.

It would be a failing to any Diamond if I didn't consider every possible possibility. Admittedly, it seems that Steven has been working with the runaways to regain their loyalty. Though I can only speculate as to why he would wish to regain the service of known defectors, as opposed to simply shattering and/or Harvesting them. I still do not trust them.

So, yes. They need to be investigated further. If anything suspicious is found, an addendum will be added to this log.

The runaways are not to be trusted!

Now that I have managed to gotten a moment, I reiterate my previous assertion. The runaways are not to be trusted.

I had approached their base from the south and was stopped by a metal, interlocking barrier. I hadn't even considered using my flight capabilities to get over it, when all of a sudden a giant monster creature lunged through the barrier, attempting to attack me!

I retreated quickly using my flight-propellers. Unfortunately, the creature was not so easily dissuaded and continued to circle me. It was eventually called off by one of the runaways themselves.

Said runaway was the Rose Quartz, a type of Quartz that I am still frustratingly unfamiliar with. But despite my initial suspicions, I do believe her claim. She is large and well-formed. I would have liked to perform a closer inspection of her gem, but had to maintain a safe distance from the monster.

The Rose Quartz still maintained a favorable disposition despite that. She requested to speak with me, but I declined with the claim that I had other duties. She may possess higher than average intelligence for a Quartz, as she may not have believed me.

She was unable to express doubt for my claim, as shortly thereafter Steven arrived, though sans the Lapis Lazuli, via the runaways' warp-pad. I informed him of the attack by the defects' creature.

Steven told me to come down again, framed as a question, and once I was on the ground again he informed me that the creature was in fact a Biggs Jasper.

Curious giving… a malfunctioning Gem like this 'Biggs' a proper designation, but either way. Now the creature has a proper title and I will make notes of it in the future. Such a thing should not be allowed to roam free and I will ensure that Steven flexes the required power needed to make sure these runaways know their place within his Court.

I believe this will finally be the last entry for this Log Date. I returned with Steven back to his Palanquin. The Lapis Lazuli was there, as was Steven's Pearl and a human. Steven referred to him as "Dad", while Steven's Pearl referred to him as "Greg". I believe I may have been correct in my theory of "Greg" being a designation of useless scrap.

While such matters undoubtedly require further clarification, I believe this will have to wait. After everything that has happened recently, I find my energy low. I therefore requested Steven if I could have some time to recuperate before I returned to my duties and he agreed.

So now I am behind the Palanquin having made sure to check my footing this time and I find myself with even more questions than I thought I would. I assumed pledging myself to Steven's service, at least for the duration of his mission on Earth, would be the easiest and wisest course of action. As a Peridot, it is my duty to assist my superiors, no matter if they're outside my Diamond's Court or not.

And while perhaps the wisest, this is far from the easiest course of action. There is much to learn with this mission and I… find myself feeling a little overwhelmed. I trust Blue Diamo- Steven, obviously, but…

This is very different from Homeworld. And I am nervous moving forward.

Steven is calling me to join him, his Pearl, the Lapis Lazuli, and the Greg in the Palanquin. I will go and I will continue to serve. Despite what reservations or uncertainties I have, I was built to serve and equipped to serve. I will continue to perform my function until I am no longer capable.
