Jack had just finished covering nightly Sweden with a thick layer of snow when he noticed the familiar golden strands of sand in the distance. He hadn't seen Sandy for a few weeks, since the last guardian meeting to be exact. It was time to pay his friend a visit, he didn't have anything else to do right now anyway. With a joyful expression on his face he flew in direction of the source of the dreamsand, his smile widening when he found a golden cloud with the sandman standing on it and spreading his glowing sand all over the place. No matter how often Jack witnessed this spectacle, it was always as wonderful and endearing as the first time he had seen it.

"Hey, Sandy!"

The addressed guardian curiously turned around and glanced at the winter spirit who was floating in the air several feet behind him and grinning brightly. A pleasantly surprised smile formed on his features and he patted the empty space next to him, silently inviting the frost teen to keep him company. Jack didn't hesitate a moment to take the offer and lowered himself on the golden cloud. It felt like sitting down on a very soft pillow. While he got comfortable he looked at Sandy who continued to send some more swirls of dreamsand towards a small town in the middle of nowhere. As this task was finished and the cloud moved on to their next destination he took a closer look at the young spirit by his side. His usually cheerful expression changed into a frown when he noticed the dark rings under his friend's eyes. A tiny golden finger pointed at the concerning spot on his own face before pointing at the teen. Jack didn't seem to understand what this was about so Sandy formed a snowflake followed by a few 'Zzzzz's and a question mark over his head.

"Nah, I'm not tired." the white-haired boy answered casually.

Golden eyes kept staring at him as the sandman crossed his arms in a no-nonsense way, clearly showing that he didn't believe a word.

"Sandy, don't worry, I've just been busy spreading winter over Europe for the last days. And before that it was North America's turn. Okay, I admit that maybe I carried that a little too far and used a little too much energy for blizzards, snowfall, stuff like that. But I'm fine, really."

He was still in the center of the sandman's attention, who now additionally stamped his foot lightly but without a doubt impatiently on the cloud.

"Alright, maybe I am tired. But just a tiny bit." Jack finally admitted with a groan.

He knew there was no point in trying to fool a spirit who was so much older and wiser than him. Just then he caught sight of Sandy creating a ball of dreamsand in his hand and immediately jumped off the cloud as if something had bitten him.

"Woa, no, no, no, don't you dare to-"

The sphere-shaped sand was thrown directly at him. Fast as lightning he raised his staff and froze the ball only inches away from his face, making it drop towards the ground like a stone. Both guardians looked down and watched it crashing on a bunch of trash cans where the ice broke and set the dreamsand free, resulting in a streetcat collapsing into deep slumber right away.

"Whoops. Well, at least no one was slain by it." Jack shrugged nonchalantly but didn't miss the reproachful glare which was shot in his direction.

"Hey, you started it, I merely defended myself!"

Before he had the chance to continue justifying himself another ball of dreamsand was darting at him but this time he managed to catch it in his hand and freeze it the moment it made contact with his skin.

"Nice try, Sandy." he smirked and gazed at the item in his hand.

Faintly bluish ice made the core of golden shining sand stand out even more, reflecting and intensifying the magical glow of both elements and turning it into an amazing combination of the two guardians' powers. Instead of using Jack's moment of distraction to knock him out with a final well-aimed ball of dreamsand the sandman stared at him curiously. It was obvious that the young immortal was contemplating about something and the older man's interest about what that was grew as he could see that familiar spark in his friend's eyes.

"I have an offer, you wanna hear it or rather try hitting me with dreamsand instead?" the frost teen eventually said light-heartedly as he focused him with his cerulean eyes.

The Guardian of Dreams looked dumbfounded for a second but shook it off and nodded, a questioning and expectant expression urging him to reveal more about that offer.

"Alright, I'm gonna rest and take a nap for as long as you think is necessary and then we'll go to the North Pole. I have something in mind that should turn out awesome!"

Jack grinned like an excited little kid while Sandy wasn't so sure if he should agree. The winter spirit was infamous for his pranks and he doubted that it wouldn't lead to a catastrophe if he actually helped him with whatever he planned. As if sensing his discomfort about the situation the pale teen tried to reassure him.

"Don't worry, I won't force you to put the yetis to sleep or anything. It's nothing bad, actually it's quite the opposite. The others will love it, at least I hope so."

Sanderson McSnoozie was ancient enough to know when someone was lying. And so he was completely convinced that Jack Frost spoke the truth. Relief swamped his features and the typical calm smile returned as he nodded in agreement.

"Great! I promise you'll like my idea." the winter spirit beamed.

A small hand patted the empty spot on the cloud once more and Jack let himself down on the comfortable surface and allowed his friend to sprinkle a nice amount of dreamsand over him that made him fall asleep in no time. It wasn't common sight to see the Guardian of Fun resting silently and peacefully and Sandy couldn't help but smile. With a flick of his finger a pillow formed right under the young spirit's head who snuggled against it without hesitation. Sweet dreams of snowball fights, playing with Jamie and other children as well as dolphins dancing around him filled his mind for the rest of the night while the sandman was busy with giving the rest of the world's children equally pleasant sleep.

Caused by a gentle touch on his shoulder he woke up many hours later, blinking in dizziness and confusion as he slowly gained back consciousness. With a yawn he sat up and stretched his limbs, immediately realizing that they weren't floating up in the air anymore. It was also delightfully cold. The Spirit of Winter glanced around to check his surroundings and grinned as he recognized the area around Santoff Clausen. In fact, North's workshop could be seen half a mile away from them. It was early in the evening, which could only mean that Sandy had let him sleep for almost a whole day. Ah, whatever, he had to admit the 'nap' had done wonders and he felt full of energy again. Curious golden eyes stared at the frost teen as he got on his feet and cracked his knuckles.

"You ready?"

"Crickey, North, why did ya summon us, the guardian meetin' is in three days anyway! I hope this is important!" Bunnymund grumbled while he hopped past Tooth and headed straight for the fireplace to warm himself up.

Why the Cossack kept a few of the windows open in this chilly night was a mystery to the pooka, probably he had grown so accustomed to the climate that he wasn't affected by the cold breeze invading the room anymore. Or Bunny was simply too used to the incredibly warm Australian weather. Whatever it was, he was less than excited to be called here in the middle of his Easter preparations.

"Not really important as in 'matter of life and death' but I thought you wouldn't want to miss this." North explained with a smirk and walked towards one of the windows.

"What are ya talkin' about, mate?"

"And where are Jack and Sandy, shouldn't we wait for them?" Tooth interjected as she followed the Russian guardian who was already gazing at the Arctic scenery.

"Actually they're the reason for this gathering." the Russian Santa explained and gestured for his friends to look out of the window as well.

"Oh great, what did the lil' snow brat do this time and how did he manage ta drag Sandy into it?" Bunny groaned as he arrived at North's side.

Three pairs of eyes stared through the darkness and immediately landed on several golden sculptures in the distance. They were too far away to recognize what exactly they were supposed to be but the faint glow stuck out in the almost black night.

"What the heck is that?" the Australian rabbit muttered under his breath and kept focusing the weird shapes about half a mile away from the workshop.

"It already looks beautiful from far away, I'd love to see it from close up." Tooth remarked inquisitively.

"Want to check it out?" the Guardian of Wonder winked at his two comrades, earning an enthusiastic nod from the hummingbird fairy and a low moan from the Easter Bunny.

Great, walking around...in an icy wasteland...in the middle of the night. He pondered to reject the offer and just stay near the cozy fireplace or travel back to his Warren and let them tell him about whatever it was at the next meeting but a beefy hand grabbed him by the arm and practically dragged him out of the globe room.

"Gah, c'mon, North! I don't wanna go out! I'll freeze my tail off!"

The big man ignored the pooka's protests and shoved him out of the enormous wooden door.

"Stop whining, it'll be worth it!"

"Hey, Sandy, our audience is coming!" Jack exclaimed as he spotted the dark blurry shapes of the three guardians in the distance.

The golden man mirrored his wide excited smile and touched down on the snowy ground next to him. With every passing moment and every step closer the stunned expressions on Santa's, the Tooth Fairy's and the Easter Bunny's faces increased. Once they arrived at the scene of event their eyes had grown to the size of saucers.

They were surrounded by sculptures made of ice and dreamsand. The faint light from the moon and the stars in the clear night sky reflected on the smooth transparent surface of the ice, the sand itself adding to the unusual but magical sight with its own shine. On further observation they were arranged to resemble an avenue. On each side stood objects in the form of columns, palmtrees and fountains, glistening light blue on the outside and golden from the inside, each one being at least 15 feet tall. Snowmen, dolphins and several other animals were placed in second row, as if they were guarding the passage. Some of them had a core of dreamsand while others were fully made of ice and had unique patterns of golden ornaments adorning their surfaces. In the center at the end of the symbolic road was a huge fir tree made of pure ice with a star at the top.

"Glad you finally arrived, just in time for the big finale!" Jack waved and flew towards the big tree with Sandy already waiting there for him.

"You two made all this?" North stated the obvious as he, Tooth and Bunny walked through the magical avenue, each one of them gazing at the delicate artworks.

"Yeah, let's just say I had a sudden stroke of genius and Sandy gladly helped." the frost teen grinned at the sandman next to him, who seemed very pleased with himself.

"Oh, this is so beautiful! You two really did an amazing job, I've never seen anything like it!" the Tooth Fairy swooned, causing a pale blush on the winter spirit's face while the Guardian of Dreams just continued smiling contently.

"Blimey, I thought ya caused some havoc again but I gotta admit I didn't expect this." Bunnymund uttered nonchalantly, though he failed to conceal how impressed he was by what he saw.

"And the best is yet to come!" Jack announced excitedly.

When they approached the ice tree they curiously watched as their youngest teammember and most ancient one of their group touched a spot at the bottom of the tree, their fingers close enough to combine their powers. Suddenly golden shining swirls of ice appeared on the surface, traveling around the tree in fern-like shapes until the whole tree was covered with the intricate frost patterns. As the magic eventually reached the star at the top a blinding golden light shot through the darkness and everyone had to close their eyes for a moment before the sudden brightness faded a little. When they regained their vision back their mouths gaped open. Not only the golden sand on the tree was glistening and sparkling. The light spreading from the star caused all of the other sculptures to illuminate the night as well. The dreamsand inside of the ice had already shone faintly before but now it was glowing with a whole new intensity. It was a breathtaking sight.

"Wow..." was all North could say.

"This...this is...absolutely wonderful..." Tooth whispered, not being able to tear her eyes from the glittering objects.

"How did ya do that? I mean, those ice-sand things." Bunny asked casually and tried in vain to hide his astonishment.

"It's actually quite easy. Shall we give them a demonstration of our awesomness?" Jack questioningly glanced at the Guardian of Dreams who nodded with a smirk.

Without any effort the sandman formed a huge pile of golden sand in his hands and shot it up into the air like a wave of water. Jack aimed his staff at the dreamsand and fired his winter magic at it, freezing it solid and preservĂng it in the shape it was at that very moment. Then he created the basic shape of a life-sized ice kangaroo, earning a grunt from Bunny in the process, and covered it with the familiar golden frost patterns together with Sandy.

"Alright, I have ta admit this is pretty good." the Spirit of Easter remarked, this being as much of a compliment he could allow himself to give.

"Thanks, I knew you'd love the portrait of yourself." Jack smirked and pointed at the sparkling ice kangaroo behind him.

"Haha, so funny I forgot ta laugh."

"How long will they last? They're all so beautiful, it would be a shame if they fell apart." Tooth wanted to know with decent concern in her voice.

Sandy shrugged his shoulders, just like Jack.

"No idea, it's been the first time we combined our powers. We'll see, I guess."

"Well, your ice and dreamsand surely are good mix! I like it!" North exclaimed, blue eyes still wide with wonder.

"However, make sure ya won't ice up Sandy's dreamsand while he's at work. Bet ya don't want anyone bein' smitten by a frozen unicorn fallin' from the sky." Bunnmund insisted sternly.

"Ghee, thanks for your trust. As if I would ever be so careless." Jack retorted and crossed his arms in disgruntlement.

The little golden guardian raised an eyebrow at him and the white-haired teen could literally hear the silent accusation, reminding him about that street cat which was knocked out by the frozen ball of dreamsand. He cleared his throat, hoping dearly that Sandy would let the matter rest.

"I'd love ta argue a lil' more with ya, Frostbite, but if we stay here any longer I'll turn into an ice figure myself." the pooka grumbled and put his furry arms around himself.

"Awww, frozen Easter Bunny, that sounds promising." the winter spirit chuckled mischievously.

"Jack, you be nice or end on Naughty List again." North reprimanded in a fatherly tone.

"Okay, okay, I'm nice."

"Pfff, as if!"

"Bunny! You, too." the Russian Santa demanded.

"Ya can't scare me with yer Naughty List, North, I don't care about presents."

"Oh, I see, I forgot you only care about eggs. My mistake." the old man admitted with cynicism dripping from every word.

"Booooys, don't ruin this beautiful night with your arguments, please?" Tooth interjected with a sweet but firm voice.

"You're right. I don't know about you but I want some eggnog now. Who's with me?" the Christmas spirit spoke and everyone raised their hands in approval.

Well, except Bunny who only kept rubbing his arms in a vain attempt to heat himself up.

"Whatever, as long as we go somewhere warm I'll be happy."

As the group made their way back to Santoff Clausen Sandy and Jack flew high up in the sky and caused a firework of dreamsand and ice, pale blue and golden lights illuminating the Arctic night in such an extent as if it was New Year's Eve, both cheering and having fun like little children. Tooth and North smiled at the impressive display of the two guardians' powers while Bunny just snorted and urgently hurried towards the workshop.

"Bloody show ponies. Both of them."
