Chapter 30

Wow 30 chapters already. That's… weird never thought I would hit thirty.

Thankyou to everyone who has followed the story up to this point and a special thank you to all the people who have reviewed – you are all angels!

I don't own one piece – but I am eternally grateful it exists.

(warnings for violence and lil bit of angst – also for those who don't like it – it will be getting a tiny bit shippy from here on out. I feel like I'm gonna get shit for this chapter)

Marty screamed. Ace and Jack whipped around spotting Marty as every single window in the hall exploded inwards.

"Purple!" Ace roared as wind ripped past him to wrap itself around her. Ace couldn't see her face as her hair was whipping around furiously, "Is she hurt?" Ace yelled to Jack over the wind, throwing his arms up against the gale. Jack squinted as people around her began to back away.

"She doesn't look- hell almighty," Jack staggered glancing down as the ground beneath their feet began to shift and sway.

"I forgot her power can mess with the earth as well," Ace grunted, glancing around to see Cake pull Polo away from a fissure that open up underneath him, "What the hell is she doing! She's attacking us as well!"

"She might have just lost control again," Marco reasoned, as he landed beside them. Marco examined Marty wearily as the wind around her continued to pick up well on its way to becoming a tornado. Ace frowned, shaking his head.

"No- I've seen her lose control before, she generally ends up getting tossed along with everything else."

"Will SOMEONE tell me what the HELL is GOING. ON." Amber shrieked, Ace glance back to see her hanging off Beth, who didn't seem all too pleased with the situation.

"Purple's having a slight temper tantrum," Ace yelled, watching the fires he and Marco were probably responsible for, flare and shoot upwards. They flared out wards, reaching the ceiling as they got caught in the gale force winds.

"She's creating a fire tornado and earthquake simultaneously, you call this slight?" Marco roared back as Amber looked between them, a horrified look crossing her features.

"Marty's doing this?!"

"Not now cow, bigger problems," Beth yelled attempting to pry Amber's fingers from her arm, as the ground surged upwards again, "What set this all off?"

"AMBER," the group turned wide eyes to stare at Marty whose back was still to them. Apparently she had no trouble being heard. The wind that was destroying their voices seemed to carry and spread Marty's throughout the room. Amplifying it so it boomed in their ears, "HELP DONNA. ."

"Donna?" Amber screamed confused, unwittingly following Marty line of sight to the body on the floor.

"Oh hell," Marco swore, frowning surprised as Amber let go of Beth's arm and began a staggering run towards Marty.

"…rty! ..alm your fuc…g farm!" Beth raised her eyebrows at the snippets of Amber's screams that were thrown back to them.

"Should we be helping her?" Marco yelled.

"Nah she's fine!"

"…I meant Marty!"

"Oh."

Amber skidded to a stop beside the old woman, dropping to her knees she began going over her back. Amber frowned feeling the woman pulse, it was weak, but it was there. She struggled to rip the shirt open for a few seconds before spotting a knife on the floor beside Donna's foot. The bullet hadn't gone through, It was still in her body. It wasn't great, but it might help her avoid bleeding out till they could get her actual help. Amber needed to get the wound cleaned and wrapped up so she could start CPR. She had to keep what blood the lady had pumping or she would never make it.

"AMBER," Amber flinched at the voice pounding in her ears, fixing a glare on her friend.

"WHAT NOW DISASTER QUEEN," Amber screamed over the wind and fire now swirling around them.

"HELP HER," Amber hesitated, lying may calm Marty down now, but false hope would wreck her later. Better she pound the bastards and get it out of her system Amber figured sighing.

"I'll do what I can, but she's in a bad state Marty. Odds are she'll die," Amber yelled turning back to her task, "So stop distracting me, go on your spaz power trip and shut up!" Amber blinked as the air around her stilled. She glanced around startled to see almost a bubble of calm air surrounding her, blocking her off from the storm outside, "The hell didn't you do that in the first place you retard!"

"DO WHAT YOU CAN," Marty said turning her attention back to the men in the room. The men who had hurt Donna. She dimly heard Amber yelling at her bugger off and tell someone else how to do their job before raising her arms. Donna would be safe.

Everything else could burn.

"She's going to tear down my house," Cake shrieked dodging around a falling ceiling beam.

"At least Purple isn't freezing people-… wait never mind she must have busted into the kitchens water pipes," Ace called, taking a step back as the ground beneath his feet took another lurch upwards before breaking away from the floor with a screech.

"Dammit Marty," Cake shrieked leaping backwards off the section of floor onto semi solid ground as it rose upwards taking Marco, Beth and Ace with it. It rose two meters above the rest of the flooring before halting.

"Is everyone out of the building?" Beth yelled seemingly unconcerned by their trip.

"The villagers are, Marty is somehow stopping all the thugs from leaving," Marco yelled watching a tendril of water grab one of the men who had almost made it to the door. He was lifted screaming off the ground to be hurled into the opposite wall.

"She would gain control of her powers now," Jack chuckled glancing up at them.

"Rage is a good motivator for pinpointing a focus," Ace said grimly. Beth glanced at him before following his gaze to Marty.

"I would say let Marty run loose till every one of them are invalids but…" Beth trailed off.

"Even if this wasn't messing with her head, all this power must be wreaking havoc on her body," Ace agreed.

"That being said how the hell are we supposed to get close enough to talk to her," Marco said flatly as he watched a wooden beam fly past, "I can't see her any more…is there even an eye to this storm?" Ace snorted.

"You guys should probably find Edgar we don't want him sneaking off," Ace said walking to the edge of their 'mountain', "We have a conversation yet unfinished." Beth hummed in agreement, the sound was snatched away in the wind.

"I'll leave Marty to you then," Beth said quietly as Ace leapt forward into the swirling fog of fire and debris.

Ace had to admit, when Purple did a job, she did it properly. The closer Ace got to where they had last seen her, the more times he was nearly brained by flying objects that were sometimes alive.

Ace raised his eyebrows as Maurice flew past screaming what sounded like a prayer. Although it contained the word "mummy" more than Ace thought was normal. Ace snorted glancing up as a gap appeared in the storm, showing a flash of purple before it disappeared again.

He bolted towards it before he forgot the direction. Ace leapt over a stove which had been rolling along like a tumble weed, whipping his head around squinting. It was becoming difficult to see his hand in front of his face. He probably would be dead by now if he wasn't made of fire.

Ace remember Marty diving out of the way of flame pillars on the ship what seems to be weeks ago. Of her getting multiple buckets of water dumped over her to avoid receiving burns from her clothes. Marty certainly wasn't made of fire, why was the idiot throwing it about so carelessly?

"Goddamit! Purple!" Ace hollered, Dodging around what he could have sworn was a statue of a giant ugly baby. That looked eerily like Cake. Ace frowned as the wind around him slackened for a second, before whipping around even more furiously.

"ACE?" Ace blinked, eye roaming the air in front of him as he staggered forwards.

"Can you hear me? Purple? Drop the winds a bit!" Ace yelled trudging forwards, "I can't see you!"

"STOP?" Ace frowned walking towards where the wind felt strongest, "I… ACE…. IT WON'T STOP." Ace gritted his teeth. So she didn't have control after all.

"Where are you?"

"ACE?" Ace ducked as a heap off ceiling panels flew past, looking around worried. Was her voice getting fainter.

"ACE?" Ace swore her voice was definitely getting fainter, and the winds around him were picking up.

"ACE IT HURTS" Ace slammed the next flying beam away from him, reasoning that if he attempted sprinting forwards he would probably run straight past her.

"Why would you do it if it hurts," Ace swore stamping forwards angrily, practically blind now.

"I'MSORRY."

"Don't be sorry just- oof!" Ace grabbed at the object he had slammed into, nearly jerking backwards when it grabbed back.

"ACE?" Ace froze as purple hair whipped in front of his face.

"Purple?" Ace slid his hand up feeling her face for injury, frowning at the new cuts and bumps he found there, "Why are you standing in the middle of the storm! We saw you create protection for Donna and Amber!" Ace grumbled.

"DONNA….," Ace scowled, why did she still sound like that. Ace leaned down, straining his eyes to see through the dark and dust. An Arc of fire flew over their heads, illuminating Marty's upturned face for a few seconds causing Ace's insides to freeze. Marty's expression was completely blank, there were cuts crisscrossing her face, some bleeding freely. Another cut appeared as a nail slammed into the side of her face as it flew by. She didn't even flinch.

"Purple?" Ace said, ducking down to eye level as the fire flew off somewhere else. The rage in her eyes scared him a little.

"Purple, listen to me. You need to calm down," Ace said leaning in till they were nose to nose so she could see his face. Marty moved her eyes up sluggishly to meet his, "Donna's with Amber, you kept them safe."

"THEY HURT… IT HURTS," Ace winced, he could swear Marty was talking no louder than a murmur, but thanks to the wind her voice echoed louder than a scream in his ear, "HURTS, ACE."

"You're using too much energy," Ace growled, "Its feeding off your pain and anger now, you have to let it go! It will kill you!"

"KILL…ME?" Marty tipped her head to the side as her eyes began to drift to the side, "OK…" Ace blinked, before scowling, he placed his hands on either side of her face. Ace pulled Marty's face back towards him so she had to look at him.

"What do you mean ok?" Ace snapped.

"PAIN WILL STOP."

"Excuse me?" Ace growled. Marty blinked up at him as if wondering where he'd come from.

"NO MORE PAIN," Marty said eyelid sliding half closed. Ace shook his head confused, "THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO COME HOME IF IT WASNT FOR ME." Ace froze.

"Purple what…?"

"I WAS... I'M A MISTAKE. I CAUSE MISTAKES. I NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED," Ace's head tipped forward so that their foreheads were touching, "IT HURTS, I WANT IT TO STOP. THEY WOULD WANT ME TO LET IT STOP."

"Did they say that to you," Ace said quietly. Marty looked up at him serenely, "They're wrong."

"THEY'RE NOT WRONG-."

"THEY ARE WRONG," Ace snapped lifting his forehead off Marty's to glare at her, before sighing, "No one's life is a mistake; no one's life is a crime."

"A CRIME?"

"It took me a while to figure that one out, I had help though," Ace said with a small smile, reaching his hand out to knock a plank of wood off course before it struck Marty, "… don't go home." Marty's brow furrowed ever so slightly, "Stay here. You don't have to be lonely Purple."

"IT HURTS ACE."

"I know, I know it hurts. I'm sorry, you should have never had to use your power like this," Marty was properly frowning now, as she blinked confusedly, "You can stop now, there isn't anyone left to fight." Marty wavered before shaking her head slightly.

"DONNA, THEY HURT ..." Ace sighed before pulling Marty into a hug, burying his face in her hair.

"Marty, you've done enough," Ace murmured pressing her against him. Ace blinked his eyes open slightly before smiling as he felt Marty arms wrap tentatively around his back, before squeezing tight.

Ace glanced up as the wind around them began slowing until it was a gentle breeze. Debris drifted to the ground with varying levels of danger as the dust settled around them. A few of the walls were still on fire though.

"You've never done that before." Ace blinked glancing down at the top of Marty's head. Smiling as he realised her voice was back to normal.

"Done what?" Ace winced inwardly as Marty turned her face upwards, displaying all her injuries to the sunlight.

"Call me Marty," Marty said smiling tiredly.

"What?"

"That's the first time you called me Marty," The girl said with a laugh, Ace raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah well don't get used to it Purple," Ace grumbled. Marty nodded absently.

"M'kay," Marty mumbled collapsing forward. Ace snorted, hooking his arm under her legs to lift her up so her forehead was tucked against his neck.

"M'kay," Ace agreed quietly, turning to glance around the room for survivors, "Hey Amber, got you another patient."

"Huh? Its over?" Amber said glancing around before she spotted Ace and winked, "Oh so you saved us again, did you Ace."

"So I can shoot her now?" Beth said hopefully, approaching with Marco, plus one, in tow.

"Let her check if Ace killed Marty first," Marco suggested holding Edgar Parrish tightly by the ear. Beth stepped forward to pull Marty's hair away, hissing at she saw the marks on her face.

"Will she be alright?" Beth asked worriedly.

"If she gets proper medical treatment within the next twenty -four hours Donna should live, if anyone cares," Amber muttered staggering to her feet, she wandered over to take a look at Marty, "Great, now I have to put this idiot back together. Chuck her on the ground handsome."

"I thought you were supposed to be proper medical treatment," Beth said cheerfully as Ace did as she asked.

"Which strengthens my belief that you shouldn't think," Amber said disdainfully, "I'm working with crappy bandages and medicine from your first aid kit, after all."

"What happened while I was gone," Ace asked backing away as the girls began bickering. Marco shrugged.

"It was pretty anticlimactic actually, we found Edgar by the back door, he had been attempting to escape for a while, but Marty kept freezing his feet to the floor poor lad. Was rather entertaining to watch actually," Marco said cheerfully shaking Edgar by his ear, "Let's see. Charlene and Polo were running around helping any hurt villagers out of the mansion. Jack was helping keep crap away from the doors so that the people who were able to leave could. Charlene is far from happy about the state of her house." Ace chuckled looking towards Amber who was waving Beth away in order to work.

"Hey Marco, was Marty's voice broadcasting?" Ace asked suddenly. Marco glanced at him confused. Amber went still, turning slightly as if to listen.

"Broadcasting?"

"Like when she was calling for Amber to help Donna. Was there any of that happening when I was in the storm?"

"I don't think so… should there have been I mean-"

"Once the whore is healed you will give her to me!" Edgar screeched suddenly, batting at Marcos unmoving hand, "She belongs to me." Ace stared at him for several second with his arms crossed.

"I beg your pardon?" Ace asked quietly. Edgar flushed attempting to stand to his full height with Marco dragging his ear downwards.

"The fruit was mine! The whore stole it- she now belongs to me," Edgar insisted, as Ace gaze turned disgusted.

"Keep filth like that to yourself if you please, I'm in no mood to beat you into a pulp right now," Ace snapped turning his face away. Marco stared at him in surprise.

"The hell happened in that storm cloud?"

"Shut up Marco," Ace said smiling slightly.

"That's no fun."

"You know what sounds sound fun to discuss? Beth's comment about 'precious talk.' Was it implied or where you calling her precious straight out?"

"… I'll be good."
