I guess I should mention my long absence since the last update...
There really is no excuse other than I was busy with other things and rarely found the time to write or muster the will to do it. A lot of things have happened since my last update, I think a week after I revealed the name of Vegeta's mother, it turned out that Dragon Ball Super used it too, Kale.
So I'm wondering if I should change her name or leave it as is. Tell me what you guys want or give me some names if you want, it would be a great help.
Anyway, this chapter is a bit short since I think Planet Vegeta deserves its own chapter and the arrival would kind of take away from it. You'll see what I mean next chapter.
Dragon Ball Kai
Chapter 18
Arrival
It had been two weeks since Goku and the others departed from Earth to save Mara. For Bulma, other than making sure they were going the right way there was not much to do. Marveling at space had worn out surprisingly quickly since they would not make any stops other than to their destination. Her books and movies had worn out too, and she had long periods of time when she couldn't talk to anyone since the others were always locked in the Gravity Room training. In other words, Bulma had been bored for a while.
That's why she was the first to cheer and excitedly point at a massive red planet.
"There it is! That's Planet Vegeta!"
The others, seated behind her cheered as well, and buckled up as the ship descended into the planet with powerful tremors, and finally landed on a deserted wasteland.
As the others cheered, Bulma began to type on the keyboard with a smile on her face.
"Give me a minute guys, I have to check what sort of elements this planet has," she went on as a device emerged from the top of the ship. "Since we know that Saiyans are living here, we know there's oxygen for sure but you never know if the air could be toxic to us... huh?"
The others were already outside looking around curiously.
"This place looks a lot like where I was training," Yamcha said.
Krillin nodded. They were surrounded by hills and the terrain was a little darker but other than that, the place didn't look much different from Earth.
"Could you idiots tell me why you left without waiting for me?!" Bulma screamed, making Krillin and Chiatzu flinch.
Goku cocked his head to the side, "Bulma what are you wearing?"
Bulma's glare softened as she proudly padded the suit she was wearing. It was a baggy astronaut yellow and black astronaut suit which covered her whole body except for her head which was under an astronaut helmet that let her see outside and could filter in air from the planet.
"Unlike you guys I can't go out here unprepared, the gravity would make it almost impossible for me to walk. So I made this," she said, showing off the suit, "So that I won't be stuck on the ship."
Yamcha grimaced, "You're not thinking of coming with us right?"
"What if I am?" She asked a bit angrily before putting her hands on her hips and scoffing. "For your information, I know that walking around in a spacesuit would get us caught, so I didn't plan on going into any city."
Yamcha sighed out in relief, worried that Bulma would get herself into trouble, while Chiatzu looked out the distance with a worried frown.
"I feel a lot of powerful people over there."
"You're right," Krillin agreed with a bit of nervousness on his voice. Unlike Earth, this place was full of thousands upon thousands of strong ki signatures.
"We have to really think about how we're going to look for Goku's friend," Tien spoke up, his arms folded. "If we were to walk into the city as we are now, we would end up having to fight our way through thousands of Saiyans."
"Do we even have to go into the city?" Krillin asked, a bit nervous about going into a city full of Saiyans.
"We have to find out where they're keeping Mara," Bulma answered in a casual tone.
"I say we go into the city at night and find us some of those Saiyan clothes," Yamcha proposed with a cocky grin, "I could get them no problem."
"How will we know where they keep them though?" Chiatzu asked.
"Wait guys," Goku said, his eyes narrowing in another direction. "You feel that?"
Tien followed Goku's line of sight and frowned, "There's something coming this way."
Two Saiyans wearing black armor and green scouters, flew through the wasteland after their scouters had picked up something.
"I wonder what those readings we-"
The Saiyan was cut off as a couple of shadows appeared behind them and struck the back of their necks, knocking them out instantly.
Goku and Tien caught the two Saiyans before they hit the ground and then laid them down safely.
"I was thinking we finally found some armor but these guys are too short," Yamcha said as he and Krillin floated down.
"They look like they'll feet me and Goku," Krillin pointed out.
Tien nodded in agreement, "Looks like you two are going to have to go into the city and finds suits for the rest of us."
Goku tried not to groan as Bulma tugged and pulled at his hair while spraying some funny smelling spray over his head.
After is was agreed on that Goku's hair would be pretty noticeable, Bulma volunteered to fix his hair but – as she already learned during their time looking for the dragon balls – Goku's hair is almost impossible to work with because it kept on stubbornly bouncing back into place.
But this time it was different, this time Bulma had used an irresponsible amount of hair products to get his hair to stay in place and, with a smile, she concluded that it had worked.
"Finally," she sighed in relief before giggling and pinching his cheek, earning a groan. "You look totally different."
Goku pouts and looks in the mirror, seeing that his hair was combed back though couple of stubborn bangs remained.
"Now get ready, we'll wait for you outside," Bulma said while leaving Goku alone on the living room of the ship.
The boy got off the chair and took the Saiyan armor they brought earlier.
"You guys could actually pass off for a couple of Saiyans," Yamcha said with an amused smile.
"Goku is a Saiyan," Chiatzu points out.
The group laughed at that.
They had waited for Goku and Krillin to come out of the ship to go over the plan once again. Tien stood to the side with a pensive expression, studying the two carefully.
Goku was wearing black Saiyan armor with shoulder guards but no crotch guards like his older brother did. Under the armor he wore a black undersuit that covered his arms and legs, unlike Krillin who was wearing the same type and color armor but with an undersuit that only went down to his elbows and knees. Finally they wore white boots and gloves, with green scouters to finish the look.
Except, there was one more difference now that Tien got a better look at them.
"We'll have to think of something to do about Krillin not having a tail."
"Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that," Krillin said.
Goku smiles sympathetically and pats his friend on the back, "Don't worry Krillin, you might grow one someday."
"I don't want one!"
"We can just come up with a story, like he lost it in a fight or something. It's probably more common than we think," Bulma shrugs but frowns as she though of another small problem, "But I guess that a group of tailless Saiyans walking together might raise a few eye brows."
Tien nodded with his arms crossed. "Though we should first worry about Goku and Krillin finding Saiyan armor for us to wear."
"Don't worry, we'll find the clothes," Goku nodded with a confident grin and turned to Krillin, "Let's go."
His friend nodded, feeling anxious about entering a Saiyan city but knowing that there was no helping it. This was all for a good cause after all, to save Goku's friend.
"Be careful guys," Bulma says with a worried frown.
"Try not to wander the streets too much," Yamcha added, knowing full well that Goku could be a bit distracted when entering an unknown city.
"Come back as soon as you find the armor," Tien instructs in a firm voice. "If you get into trouble then try not to raise your ki too much."
Chiatzu smiled and waved at the two, "Good luck guys."
Goku and Krillin nodded before jumping high in the air and then shooting through the red sky, heading towards where a lot of powerful ki signatures were coming from.
