"Mom the baby is crying."
Olivia struggled to keep her eyes open. Her heart skipped a few beats when she noticed Aiden holding Aira. She was over his arm and her neck wasn't supported. She quickly took the infant from him.
"You have to support her neck."
"Why does her head keep rolling?"
"She can't hold her head up yet."
"Is she okay?"
"She's fine. Don't get her out of the bassinete. Call me or your dad when she cries."
"You were sleeping, and dad is at work. I was trying to help."
"You can stop running in the house."
"Okay, when is Violet coming to get the baby?"
"I don't know Aiden."
"Maybe you can keep this baby, since the other one died in your stomach."
"I can't do that."
"Why not? Violet doesn't want the baby."
Olivia let Aira snuggle further into her neck. It was hard taking care of a baby when she lost her own months ago. She couldn't get too attached.
"Violet wants Aira. This is her baby."
"I don't think so. Violet only wants Adam. She will have another baby when she gets a new husband. The baby likes you mom. Look how fast she stopped crying."
"Go play in the backyard with Asher. I'll cook dinner in a few minutes."
When she heard the door slam, Olivia blinked and let her tears fall. This wasn't her baby. She looked so much like Violet and herself. Aira always cried when Olivia wasn't holding her. Olivia tried to get Fitz to hold her more, but she cried loudly whenever Olivia gave her to him. This was an emotional battle. Olivia was 21 weeks when she lost her baby. She and Fitz had already started decorating the nursery pink. Her baby never came home from the hospital. Despite the nursery being fully furnished, Olivia wouldn't allow Aira to sleep in there. She insisted on getting the bassinette from Violet and putting it in the living room. The nursery was for her baby. She needed her own therapist.
