"Where are you going this early?"
"To the airport."
"You're making plans without me?"
"I'm taking your advice. I do need a break. I'm hanging out with Annalise this weekend."
"Okay, you couldn't let me know this last night? I do have a few things I need to do at my office."
Olivia gave him a forced smile. "I'm sure you can figure out how to manage the twins, Aira and your job. Billions of working moms do it every day."
"Did you cook breakfast?"
"No, Aira's feeding schedule is on the kitchen counter. You have to get some groceries."
"How do you expect me to grocery shop with the twins and Aira?"
"I do it once a week. It's not that hard. You should really take your shower before they wake up."
"Can you take a later flight?"
"No, I need to leave now."
A loud wail came from the baby monitor. Olivia paused for a minute, debating with herself. She wanted to give Aira her morning bottle, but she didn't want to miss her flight.
"Aira needs you. I'll call you in a few hours."
Olivia grabbed her purse. The luggage was already in the car. When she was outside, it was a battle not to go back inside. She did not want to leave Aira for a whole weekend. This was her first time being away from her longer than a few minutes. Olivia could still hear her cries.
"I can do this." She said, pressing the unlock button on her starter.
She started her car and drove away from her home. It was a quick flight, and Annalise was waiting with a smile.
"You're really here!"
"For the whole weekend."
"Are you nervous?"
"Of course I am. I don't know if she's still crying."
"I understand."
"You do?"
"I was a mother, and if my baby was here, I would feel the same way."
"I think you're the only person who really understands. I'm still hurting. I want my baby back."
"The pain never goes away. It just gets easier to deal with."
