"What?!" Matt's face twisted into one of shock and anger, as he shouted.
"Izzy!" Kari gasped at the same time as Matt shouted. Her eyes instantly started to glisten. All of her siblings were close, she couldn't live without one of them. T.K.'s heart had sank to his gut. He was close with his sister-in-law, and the thought of never seeing her again sadden him.
Tai's expression, however, did not change from his outraged face. He reluctantly released Izzy from his grasp then said, "What do you mean?"
Izzy took a deep breath then straightened his back, before looking his enraged brother-in-law in the eye. "Max and I discussed the options before sending her after the children. It was probable that she would have to take their place, to return them home safely. She made me promise to not go back after her. That it is safest for us to remain here...and her...there."
Kari frowned as she noticed a tear roll down Izzy's cheek. Izzy truly loved his wife, but he was one to also always keep his word. His heart was breaking, just like everyone else's.
"That is insane! Obviously we are going to go after her! Tell him, Tai." Matt was finally growing impatient, and Kimi was shocked to see how much this was upsetting her father.
Why did he care so much about what happened to Takato's mother? He never even got this upset when her own mother threatened to leave him. The red-headed girl was confused, even more so when she looked at her mother. Sora's face was a mixture of emotions, and Kimi couldn't even think of a way to describe them all.
Emiko shook in the background. She didn't like the conflict happening, and all she wished was that Kudamon was there to comfort her. Ryo, who had noticed the distressed girl, put a comforting arm around her shoulders. She weakly smiled up at the boy, who gave a reassuring smile.
"Yes, we are going to bring her back." Tai stated, giving Izzy now, an almost disgusted look. To think Izzy could just leave Max in the Digital World, without even trying to get her back, made him irate towards the shorter man. "We lost my sister once before to that world, we're not loosing her again."
The words pierced through Izzy, visibly making him flinch.
"Tai, stop it." Kari now glared at her older brother.
"What do you mean?" Takato finally spoke up. Everyone looked at the boy.
"It's time he knew the truth." Tai was clearly speaking to Izzy, but didn't take brown eyes off his goggle-headed nephew.
"I know my mom is a Digimon." Takato said, "I watched her de-digivolve from Dobermon...I thought he...she was my partner." Takato now looked down, saddened.
"You won't have a partner." Takato quickly looked back up at his Uncle.
"And your mother is not a Digimon, technically." Izzy interrupted. "She is half human, and half digimon. She once had a regular human partner, just like everyone else. But one day, he was defeated and instead of becoming an egg and going to Primary Village, he merged into your mother."
All of the children were amazed. They didn't even know that was possible.
"Why did you never tell me?" Takato asked his father.
Izzy answered, "Your mother and I thought it was best. You, yourself, were our own little miracle, so we did not know what to expect from you."
"How is her a miracle?" Kimi asked, her arms folded.
Izzy looked over at her. "Because of what she is, half human and half digimon, it was impossible for her to become pregnant."
"But they were wrong." Tai added.
Izzy nodded in agreement.
"What do you mean, expect from me?" Takato furrowed his brows.
Tai and Izzy looked at each other.
"To see if you were like your mother."
Everyone's eyes landed over on Emiko. The shy blue haired girl bit her lip after speaking but she looked at Takato boldly.
Images from the Digital World came flying through Kimi's mind, making her blue eyes widen. She now understood, after all that wondering. "That's why those Digimon all wanted Takato, why they always attacked him! That's why Gokumon said he was going to make his digimon "come out", Takato is.."
"..a digimon." Takato finished, his voice low.
"The Halfling!" Raiden cheered in his father's arms.
"Yes, a halfling, not a digimon." Izzy corrected his son.
"What kind of Digimon?" Raiden asked, intrigued.
"We need to worry about getting Max, back." Matt throw out there, Tai nodding in agreement.
"Izzy, I know you can do that." Tai told Izzy.
"I can't do it." Izzy said back, firmly.
"Yes you can!" Tai and Matt yelled at the younger man in unison.
Suddenly, a full blown argument broke out. Tai, Matt and Izzy were shouting at each other. Sora yelling at Matt to calm down. Kari jumping in, shouting at her brother to stop being so mean towards Izzy.
It was only T.K., who was holding his son, that stood back, who noticed what was happening.
Takato was holding his head in his hands, he could feel sweat dripping through his fingers and down his neck. Everyone's yelling started to sound far away and muffled as that buzzing noise that haunted him, came back. However, it was much deeper sounding than before. His chest was moving up and down at a quickened pace as his breathing intensified, and gritted his teeth together as he fought to scream from the pain of his stomach twisting inside of him. "No more.." Takato's voice was raspy sounding, but too quiet for the arguing adults to hear.
"Guys.." T.K. shouted over to the group, his bright blue eyes filled with worry as he watched what was happening to his nephew. "Guys!" T.K. tried again.
"Daddy.." Raiden said, staring at Takato.
"It's happening." Ryo whispered to Emiko who covered her mouth in horror.
"What's wrong with him?" Kimi wondered out loud as she stood alone, but she then let out a gasp when Takato's hands fell from his face and he looked up.
His eyes were glowing bright red.
"Kari!" T.K. yelled as loud as he could, finally making his wife look over at him. But it was too late.
Takato threw his head back, and let out a booming, earth quaking, "ENOUGH!"
