Good night! :) I'm really sorry for being missing for a few weeks. I don't have a logical excuse, so I won't lie to you. I guess you already know by now that I barely have time to dedicate to this story during the week and I only write on weekends. Anyway, these two past weekends have been hectic, a lot of plans, so that's the reason why I stopped updating. I apologize and I hope this will make up for my disappearance, even though this chapter is really short 'cause I started writing it just today. I wanted to update so you won't forget about this, and I need to go to sleep now. xD Anyway, I will try to update this weekend, so just be patient. No time to comment your reviews, sorry again. ;) I hope you didn't forget about this story and you're still enjoying it. Have a nice week you all! ;)
PD: I stopped proofreading 'cause I don't have time for that, so you'll have to get used to my mistakes. ;)
Enjoy the chapter, guys!
IT'S NEVER TOO LATE
: Chapter 27 – Happiness :
Today has been a complicated day. My girlfriend decided to come out to his dad. That is a huge deal, but everything gets messier when that man is also my boss. I won't lie and try to act brave, I admit I'm a little bit afraid and nervous at the same time. According to Paige his reaction was good. I even saw him right after Paige told him about it and he was all smilesand especially nice to me, so that is a good sign. However, there's something inside me, call it mistrustor a bad feeling like that, that makes it difficult for me to believe everything is fine about our relationship regarding to his dad. I'm an employee and I'm dating her daughter, a person that was supposedly straight before today, at least from his dad's point of view. On the other side, this means Paige is serious about our relationship, so that's great news. I know we will have to hide it when we're at work, but apart from that, I can do what any other couples do. Hiding is over, and that is huge for me.
We have the afternoon free, so when she proposed to spend it together, I was totally into it. We walk to Hyde Park and we sit in the grass, away from the crowd. It's not sunny today, it's actually cloudy, but it's a little bit hot, so I think coming here was a good decision. I look at her and I realize she's happy. It's like she's a completely different person from the one that was so distant and rude to me the last previous days.
"You look beautiful," I say, flicking her hair out of her eyes.
She stares at me for a few seconds, not saying a word. "Thank you. You always are beautiful." She places her hand on my cheek and leans over to kiss me. I close my eyes and kiss her back.
"This feels fantastic," she adds. She has a sparkle in her eyes that makes her even more beautiful. "I don't care about people looking at us. This is like a dream." She points at the people around, who didn't even look at us.
"And if they do that means they are envious about me having you," I tease her, as I caress her arm.
"You're so clingy," she jokes, and then kisses me. "So?" She grins at me and stares for a few seconds.
"So what?" I ask, curious about her beaming smile.
"Are you happy?" She stares at me and I nod at her. "How are you feeling about my dad?"
I sigh. "I'm terrified," I admit. I smile, but I'm actually telling the truth.
"Don't say that." She breaks into laughter and puts her arm around my shoulder. "He adores you."
"You keep saying that, but I'm not one hundred percent sure, and that makes me nervous. Anyway, I'm really happy about you and I will handle it."
"You will handle it bravely, Em." I can see
"Well, let's see how that goes," I add, making her laugh loudly.
"There's nothing about you that won't make him love you." She kisses my cheek and it gets redder. "Besides, my dad is not a monster. He's probably the most sociable person in our family."
"I believe that," I tease her. She elbows me jokingly. "I mean, you're adorable, but your shyness makes it difficult to get to know you."
She frowns jokingly. "What do you mean by that?"
"I mean…" I hope I didn't mess it up. She laughs at my nervousness. "You know, you weren't really nice when I met you."
"Are you serious?" I know she's teasing me, but I guess talking about this is what makes a relationship stronger.
"Do you remember the day I saw you for the first time? I mean, it was like destiny. We were both coming back from Istanbul and I couldn't stop looking at you. You were… I don't know how to say it with care…" She grins at me, she obviously knows what I'm talking about. "You were a little bit harsh." I blush when I see her cocky expression and the way she's staring at me.
"I don't usually talk to strangers. Besides, I escaped from the reality I had here with my mom being in a comma." She looks away. I understand it's painful to talk about it even though she's totally recovered.
"I was just trying to be nice."
She shyly smiles at me. "My personal situation was affecting me. Besides, my rude reaction was maybe influenced by your beauty."
I open my eyes widely. She averted my gaze and she's blushing. "Could you explain that to me?" I cockily ask, raising her head by putting my hand on her chin.
"Is it really necessary?" Her blushing is increasing vigorously. I nod at her. "I think I fell for you the moment I saw you. Okay, there, I said it." She teasingly frowns at me. My smile grows wider when I hear her sweet words.
I look her in the eye and lean to kiss her passionately until we're literally breathless.
"I think I felt the same for you, even though you were having a bad day," I joke. She gives me a quick kiss.
"I just have another question, Paige." She opens her big brown eyes, anxious to know what it's going through my mind.
"Shoot." I smile at her.
"What did you like about me?" I'm curious about it.
She laughs at me. "You're the whole package, Em." I kiss her in the cheek. "You're smart, sexy, you're obviously a good person and I love your confidence." My heart is about to explode from happiness. "Is there anything else you want to know?" she teasingly asks.
"No, there isn't. I just want you to know that I love you, Paige McCullers." I grin at her.
"I love you too, Emily Fields." I kiss her and I realize I haven't felt so happy for a long time. She looks at her watch. "By the way, we should get going."
"Why?"
"I have everything planned and it's time to go." She smiles at me, gets right up and helps me stand up.
"What are you talking about?" She grins at me.
"This deserves a proper celebration, don't you think? Just follow my lead and everything will be fine." I love when she surprises me.
To be continued…
Stay tuned! ;)
