IT'S NEVER TOO LATE

: Chapter 29 – Have A Nice Flight Back:

I open my eyes and I suddenly feel tiredness over all my body. I barely slept, but I don't regret not resting enough because the reason why I was awake was totally worth it. Last night was magical. I can't even describe how happy I am right now. I feel complete and it's all because the goddess who's laying in bed next to me. I look at my cell and it's 8 in the morning. I realize my dad texted me last night to remind me that we are having breakfast together, but he doesn't specify what time we're going to meet. However, I think he will be calling soon enough, so I decide to wake up. I look at Emily and she's so calm and beautiful. She looks like an angel. I smile, I am lucky to have her. I grab some clean clothes and get into the shower. I close my eyes and enjoy the cold water covering my body. It relaxes me. Ten minutes later I get out, put the clothes on, brush my hair and I put moisturizing cream on my body and face. I decide not to dry my hair, it's hot outside and having my hair wet feels good. When I leave the bathroom I see that Emily is starting to wake up, 'cause she's moving a lot, but her eyes are still closed. I approach the bed and I carefully put on top of her and start kissing her neck. She smiles and then opens her eyes.

"You're the best alarm clock I've ever had," she says, a grin on her face. I leave a trail of kisses on her neck until my lips get to touch her lips. My pulse accelerates. "You smell so good." She places her hands on my face and kisses me hungrily.

I lay next to her, our faces an inch apart, and her arm embracing me.

"Did you sleep well?" I ask. Her eyes are shiny, she seems as happy as I am.

"I would have slept a little bit more, but I preferred doing... you know." I blush and she smiles. "You weren't so shy last night," she teases me.

I grab the pillow and cover my face. "Would you please stop doing that?" I hear her laughing loudly. She takes the pillow and throws it to the ground.

"You're so adorable," she says and then kisses me. "Breakfast in bed?" she asks, winking at the same time.

"I'm sorry, Em. I'm having breakfast with my dad. But I'll be back as soon as possible, okay?"

She smiles at me. "It's fine, Paige. I'm going to shower." She jumps out of bed and I can't help but stare at her perfect body. She's only wearing her underwear and I can't keep my eyes from her. "Stop looking at me like that, perv," she teases me. I laugh and then lay on bed and try to rest my eyes. The sound of the shower running relaxes me so much that I barely fall asleep. A knock on the door startles me. I jump out of the bed and approach the door. I open it and I see my dad standing right in front of me.

"Morning, honey."

I didn't expect him coming without calling first. I keep quiet, I don't what to say. I suddenly realize the bathroom is next to the door and the sound of the shower can be heard perfectly. He stares at the door of the bathroom and then looks at me again.

"Good morning, dad," I nervously add. I need to keep talking so he doesn't realize someone's in the shower. However, by his look, I can feel he knows it, so I try to pretend I'm not nervous. "I just need to dry my hair. Maybe you can wait for me at the lobby, I will be there in five minutes, okay?" He smiles at me. I don't know if he's having fun with the whole situation or he's just being nice.

"That's perfect. I will be waiting for you." I smile back at him and I rapidly close the door. I take a deep breath and go to put my shoes on. When Emily comes out of the bathroom frowns at me.

"It looks like you've seen a ghost. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. I'm just… going to dry my hair a little bit and I'm meeting my dad."

"Okay," she responds.

I get into the bathroom and use the hairdryer for a few minutes and I make a sloppy ponytail. I go grab my bag and I see she's laying on bed while she watches TV.

"I will be back as soon as possible. Do you want me to bring you breakfast?" I ask.

"I will order from the room service. Thanks though."

I approach the bed and kiss her.

"Bye, gorgeous," she says, showing me her perfect smile.

"I love you too," I tease her.

I find my dad sitting on a couch and reading the newspaper. He smiles at me when I leave the elevator.

"Are you hungry?" I nod at him. He looks happy. I mean, I know this trip was a success and that the business is like a son to him, so it's totally understandable.

We go a little café that the man at the hotel reception recommended. It's cozy and it smells great. There are a lot of breakfast combinations to choose, but we both pick the same.

"So, did you have fun yesterday? I guess you spent the afternoon with Emily." He stares at me and I nod at him. I don't like talking about my personal life, even less with my dad. "I had dinner with Jason." I frown and he laughs. "I wanted to have dinner with you, but I know you weren't free, so I decided to have dinner with him. I had fun, but I've got to admit he's… I don't know how to put it… peculiar." I laugh. "I mean, he's nice, but there's something weird about him. I guess you know what I'm talking about, given your past relationship."

"He can be a little bit odd. I know."

The bartender brings our food and there's a silence afterwards, when we both start eating.

"He's too ambitious. He's a good employee, but I don't like that about him."

"You're the most ambitious person I've ever known, dad," I tease him.

"Yeah, I know that. But I didn't want my daughter to date someone so ambitious. I don't know, I had a feeling he was not good for you." He has his eyes fixated on me, like he wants me to say something. He obviously wants me to say something about Emily, but my shyness stops me.

"What's going on, dad?"

"It's nothing." He grins at me. "I'm happy you trusted me enough to tell me about her?"

I blush and then smile. "I couldn't bear with that anymore. I had to tell you."

"What about your mother?" I raise my head to look at him.

"Are you serious? You know how she's going to react, so I'm not planning on doing that yet."

"I know that she doesn't talk to your aunt since she came out, but I have a feeling that's going to change soon."

"What are you talking about?"

"It's been five years, Paige. I can see it in your mom's eyes, she's regretful for shutting your aunt out like that. Even more after getting out of the comma. It's like she realized life is short and I have a feeling she will apologize to her. I know she feels sorry about it, but you know how stubborn she is." A smile escapes his lips. I know my dad has always been shy and didn't like talking about this kind of stuff, but I feel he's been slightly different these last two months. My mom's comma was really difficult for the family, but it seems like every member of it has now more interest in living our lives, no matter what. I guess sometimes disgraces bring good things too.

"Do you realize this is the most intimate conversation we've ever had, dad?" He shyly smiles at me.

"Do you think so?" he jokes. "I know the two of us are not the most talkative people on earth, but I have to admit I love talking to my daughter."

"Dad, you're going to make me cry," I say, as I stare at him and make him look away. "Thank you for everything." I hold his hand and he gives me the most tender and sincerest smile ever.

"I didn't do anything. Besides, I thought you were going to buy me this breakfast." He points at the bacon on his plate. I laugh.

"I'm serious, thank you so much. For everything, you know." I know he already realized what I'm talking about, but he's just like me, so he won't say a word.

"I don't know her a lot, but after the impressive presentation she made the other day, I understand why you're so into her. I mean, she's obviously smart, she has self-confidence, she's really nice and her looks…"

"I'm gonna stop you right there!" I shout, making him laugh loudly.

"I was teasing you. I knew you'd blush like that." He points at my face, that looks redder than a tomato.

"You're so silly."

"I know," he admits, winking at me at the same time.

We leave both plates clean, I pay and then we leave the café. The flight is leaving in five hours, so after getting the suitcase, we're going to drive to the airport. Our European adventure is over, at least for now.

"And? Tell me more, Em. You can't drop the bomb and then stop talking!" Hanna frowns at me. I shake my head. She texted me to skype and I accepted because Paige is still with his dad. The problem is that it's 5 AM in the States and Hanna just got home from a party, so she's not in her most splendid moment.

"I'm not going to give you details, Hanna. You know me, I don't talk about intimate things."

She shakes her head. "So, how is she in bed?" she insists. I blush and she bursts into laughter. "Because her brother… OMG!" she exclaims.

"I don't want to know, please," I add.

"By the way, where is she?"

"She's having breakfast with her dad," I respond.

She looks at me astonishingly and then looks at her watch. "It's really early to have breakfast."

I burst into laughter. "Hanna, I'm in London. Time is different, you know. How much did you have to drink?" I tease her.

"Just two beers."

"Yeah, right," I joke.

She remains silent for a few seconds. It's odd if Hanna does that. "I just realized something, Em. You're practically my sister-in-law! This is so cool!" I can't help but laugh. I mean, Hanna has always been funny, but if she's slightly drunk, she can be extremely hilarious.

I hear the door opening and my face breaks into a smile when I see Paige entering the room.

"Paige is here," I say.

"Who are you talking to?" she asks.

"Hanna… skype." I point at the laptop and she approaches to sit next to me in bed.

"Hey!" she adds, waving at the tipsy blonde that's on the other side of the screen. Paige seems really happy, and that's good news if she just was with her dad.

"Hey, tiger!" she exclaims.

Paige looks at me and then frowns at Hanna. "What did you call me?"

I laugh. "She's a little bit drunk. Am I right, Hanna?"

"Only two beers, Paige," she keeps insisting, babbling those words. I can't help but laugh. "Don't believe your girlfriend, I'm not drunk." Paige smiles at me.

"Hanna, we'd love to keep talking to you. But we need to leave, we have a flight to catch, you know," I joke. "We'll see each other tomorrow, okay? I'm dying to see you!"

"I miss you too! Have a nice flight!" She waves at us and we say goodbye. I turn the computer off and look at Paige, who's staring at me.

"What?" I ask.

She smiles and then kisses me passionately. "I'm so lucky," she adds, our noses touching. I kiss her back.

"Was everything good with Mr. McCullers?" I tease her.

"It was perfect. Don't call him like that, please." She grins at me.

"I like calling him like that, Miss McCullers," I joke. I start kissing her neck and she places her hands on my hips, caressing me and making my heart beat faster than ever. She uses one hand to raise my head from my neck, she looks me in the eye and kisses me hungrily, our tongues battling each other and making both of us moan.

"This perfume you use drives me crazy, you know," she breathlessly adds. I laugh and keep kissing her. I notice she's unfastening the button of my trousers, so I take her shirt off and I admire her abs. A knock on the door startles me.

"Paige! It's me! We need to go!" Her dad's voice makes me jump out of bed while I button my trousers. She puts her shirt on, gives me a kiss and smiles at me.

"I'll be on the lobby in five minutes."

"Okay, I'll knock on Emily's room."

"Nooo!" I shout. "She already knows, I will text her right now."

"Okay, honey. Hurry up." I hear the steps getting away and I breathe in heavily.

"You need to stop wearing that perfume," she says and winks at me.

I hug her tightly. "I love you, hottie," I tease her.

We both had our luggages prepared, so we get to the hall two minutes later. Jason and Nick are waiting for us.

"Great! Everyone is here. The cab is waiting outside," Nick says.

"Let's go, girls," Jason adds, showing his perfect smile.

We walk outside. Nick turns around to look at us. "I already have the boarding tickets." He stares at me and then smiles. "This time you're sitting next to me, Emily. I hope you don't mind." He grins at me and I suddenly start feeling nervous. This looks interesting. I will share a seven hour flight with my boss and 'father-in-law' who didn't know her daughter was having a relationship with a woman. This flight is going to be fucking perfect!

To be continued…

Stay tuned! ;)
