The campfire was warm in the chilled night filled with stars. Sean felt a comfort with his new friends as he gladly accepted the bong offered to him. He had always enjoyed the high it brought but it had been a while. The conversation flowing amongst them seemed deeper with the aid of the thought provoking substance and he began to grow hazy in his feelings. He stared at Finn, the young man who he felt had stolen his brother, but he could hardly hold a grudge as he had quickly grown to become his best friend. He reminisced about how they had met, their journey together, and how he currently felt about him. The other had always been so kind to him, and somewhere within the line of friendship it had crossed into a strong sense of adoration. He admired the guy, and somehow now, in his stoned state, it felt stronger.
He stared at him with a longing he hadn't quite had before, surely because of the marijuana. It made him feel things he normally wouldn't. But he knew, deep down, that it simply brought to the forefront what he had felt this whole time. A crush that had been suppressed until now. He could no longer focus on the words being said, instead thinking about what he could enjoy one-on-one with Finn. Even just talking, growing closer.
When the group finally decided to call it a night he didn't move, telling Daniel to go on without him. His little brother seemed disappointed and begrudgingly went to their tent. Part of him felt guilty, but a bigger part of him wanted to remain, just to catch Finn's eye one last time. And he did.
The hippy smiled kindly, a shimmer in his eye that was heightened by the bonfire, before approaching Sean. Sean got his wish when the other sat beside him, "You have a little too much, sweetheart?"
Sean blushed and tried his best to keep his gaze on the fire, then he nodded slowly. It felt like maybe he had. Finn grinned with a light chuckle, patting his friend's back, "Don't worry, it'll fade soon. And, hey, you got me right here with you."
Sean allowed himself to look at him then with a happy smile, "Thanks, Finn…"
Finn caught the quiet timber of his name, like he could have found more words but refused to say them, and cocked his head, "You know, you don't have to be so quiet with me. Say what's on your mind."
Sean flushed even more when he realized his friend's hand was still on his back, comforting and warm, then he looked away bashfully. He didn't know what he wanted to say, he had just wanted Finn close. But his intoxicated state helped him to come up with something, his mind reeling, thoughts of Finn spinning circles, "I feel like I don't spend enough time with you. You're always with Daniel and-"
"And you're jealous," Finn cut in surely.
Sean sighed, "Yeah. But… not just toward you, but toward Daniel. I want you. All to myself."
He regretted saying it, but at the same time Finn made him feel like he could truly say anything, and that was one reason he loved him so much. Finn grinned again, rubbing circles into Sean's back with his hand, "Hey. Look at me."
Sean could feel his cheeks grow impossibly warmer, trying to tell himself it was just the heat of the flames, but he knew that was a lie. He faced his friend again, looking into his eyes, finding Finn's intense with reciprocated admiration. Then Finn's voice came out so soothingly he could have melted, "We're together now, aren't we? Believe me Sean, I'm not going anywhere, and you mean more to me than Daniel ever could. Daniel is like a little brother to me where you're like- well…" he didn't finished that thought with words, instead he leaned in.
Sean's chest tightened in shock and anticipation as the other drew closer, hoping for and anxious about what he thought of was about to happen. Then their lips met and he felt all the built up tension within him dissipate, all his worry leaving to be replaced with a blanket of calm elation, his pining having not been in vain.
They kissed softly, the moment feeling all too romantic, and when they broke apart Sean was tingling with every sensation he'd ever felt, his foggy mind going straight to shameful thoughts of Finn taking him right there. And his fantasies were spoken to him when Finn said, "Come to my tent."
A ball of heat spun itself within Sean's stomach at the offer and without thinking he nodded. And then, thankfully, he remembered. He had that condom in his backpack, the one he never thought he'd have a reason to use. Wishful thinking, but it had been taking up space. Now he had a reason, if that was truly what Finn meant by inviting him. So he swallowed nervously, "Uh… I'll be right there."
Finn cocked his head but smiled nonetheless, "Alright, I'll be waiting, sweetheart."
Sean flushed yet again, he'd never get used to Finn calling him that, before standing on wobbly legs. He went quickly to the tent and tried not to disturb Daniel as had searched his backpack. With the item found he made his way to Finn's tent, allowing himself inside without warning.
He blushed and handed Finn the condom.
