Daniel's in the bath. I get some time to myself. Time to do what Brody said, one last look at my phone then it's Bye Bye to Modern life. Got to get this over and done with.

With a sigh, Sean moved the sliding door of the motel and closed it behind him. Looking into the beach and the sea in front of him, taking a deep breath to calm himself down. With a shaky hand, he reached out into his back pocket and pulled out his phone.

Shit! Lyla must of been worried. He stared down at the spam and barrage of messages from his best friend back at home.

Call me back as soon as you see this, I'm really worried about you, Sean. The last message read.

Sean looked at the phone blankly, debating on what to do. Should he call her back? And risk the police coming onto him as the phone would omit his location? Or should he just leave it and chuck the phone away while he could and play it safe? So many questions were burning through his mind.

Fuck it. He shook his head as he proceeded to call Lyla.

A worried and hysterical Lyla picked up the phone. "Sean Sean. Thank goodness I've been worrying about you for 3 days. Where have you been? Everyone's been looking for you"

"I'm at a Motel. Somewhere. I can't say where. But I'm alright. We both are. How about you, are you ok?" Sean replied to his best friend

"No! I've been worried sick about you. I haven't been sleeping these past few nights . The cops are speaking and asking everyone at school about you. I haven't said anything about you to them" Lyla informed Sean about the situation back at home

Fuck! We're so done! Sean thought and said out loud. We're so fucked.

"Don't say that Sean. Everything will be alright" Lyla reassured him

Sean paced back and forth nervously walking up and down the balcony of the motel, hands on his hair. "Will it ever be?" He agitatedly asked himself

Lyla on the other side of the phone, back home in Seattle - Calmed down upon hearing Sean so agitated. She knew it wouldn't help if both of them were upset and stressed together. Sean needed her, he needed comforting so it was time to put her worries aside for now.

"Maybe you could come back. It's not too late. Explain everything to the Cops. You're innocent. And if they don't believe you. I'll have your back" She suggested in an attempt to calm him down

"Are you mad?" Sean barked at her, only to lower his tone when he felt Lyla flinch over the phone. "Sorry I wish I could, but that's not an option. We need to keep moving, me and Daniel. There's no going back" he sighed tapping on the balcony ledge

"But I miss you so much" she pouted on the phone to him as Sean rubbed his eyes over her words, knowing what he had to do next. He couldn't prolong it any longer. He had to ditch that phone for his and Daniel's sake. Right now he was just delaying the inevitable.

"Look I got to go, Daniel's calling me now. I'll call you back when I can" he lied stuttering. After this, there was no going back . He was never going to call her again or have any contact, not without a phone at least.

"You promise? So this Asian Chick and Mexican brother thing will last longer?" She asked referring to their last conversation 3 days before shit went downhill

'I promise" he faked as his hand hovered over the call button "I miss you Lyla" before he cut the call

"Hey! Sean Wait! Hello Hello?" Lyla looked back at her phone only to realise that Sean had cut her off

"Damn it!" She cursed as she threw her phone on the bed back at home.

Meanwhile Sean had lobbed the phone over the ocean in front of him. Before he broke down crying. That Mexician brother and Asian Chick. If only I said something else, if only I wasn't so focused on Jenn and the stupid party. You don't know what life throws at you. One minute you're with your best friend, the next you're on the run from the police without a Dad. I should have said something, when I had the chance . Why didn't I? Now I lost her and will never see her again.

She said she loved me, but I never got the chance to say it back and never will. What use is it if I say it now? I love you Lyla, but you'll never know . He thought as he stared out into the sea, before opening the door and going back in to check on Daniel.
