Naru's POV

As he walked away from the hospital, his thoughts turned to the girl from earlier. She seemed to be familiar, but he had no clue as to where she might have met him before. He had never been to Japan before, and he found the idea of her being in London rather laughable. When Kazuya got back to the school, all he had to do was look at the equipment before he groaned in despair. Without Lin, putting the rest of the equipment up will take hours. suddenly, like a flash of lightening, he had a plan. I'll just use the girl who injured Lin. she owes me at least that. Not willing to even start putting things up alone, he let his mind wander to the girl with short brown hair.

*Wibbily wobbily timey wimmey*

Before he could even open the door, he heard a girl's voice practically yelling a (probably) made up idea of ghost stories attracting ghosts. He slightly slid open the door, just enough to see into the classroom.

Right in front of him stood Mai, holding her backpack and rolling her eyes. just to annoy the ranter, Kazuya slid the door open the rest of the way and stepped into the room. His eyes immediately found Mai's eyes and smirked at her. She didn't even seem to notice him, so he leaned on the wall just for fun, and knocked on the door by his side.

"Am I interrupting something?" He asked, half-expecting Mai to answer with a resounding yes, but instead she glanced from the ranter to him, then back, and smiled a small, somewhat terrifying smile.

"Shibyua-senpai!" one of the other girls shouted in surprise. What was her name again? he asked himself, while he tuned out there world around him, barely hearing the girl tell him that she and the others weren't feeling too well and wanted to take a rain check on the stories. He nodded towards them, and glanced back to the reason he had come back here in the first place. She had a thoughtful look on her face that soon turned into a smirk.

"Did you put them up to this?!" the annoying ranter demand.

Instead of doing the kind thing, jumping in and stopping the accusations, Mai just smirked, infuriating him to no end. He hadn't made her work for him or pay for the camera -yet- but she didn't even consider stopping the crazy woman.

Not quite knowing what was going on, or how to respond, he just said the first thing to come into his head.

"Excuse me, but I don't believe that I have learned your name."

Did I really just ask the girl who is yelling at me her name?! What kind of idiot am I? If Gene where here...

He was pulled from his thoughts to hear the ranter yelling at him again! He felt his temper beginning to wear thin. It was bad enough that she had wasted his time and an opportunity to gather information about the case, but had also made him think of Gene. As if she could feel his anger she stormed away glancing back only to glare at the group.

Finally, he thought to himself, rather happy to rid himself of that annoyance. He looked at Mai again and thought he saw a look of panic, but he blinked and she was grabbing her stuff with an amused look on her face.

"Now, as amusing that was," her eyes were shining with suppressed laughter as she stooped down to pick up a black pencil case, "If you'll excuse me I must go."

"Bye Mai-chan." the other girls chorus in unison.

He quickly realized that the reason he was here was getting away, so he turned to the other girls and said "Since you're all feeling unwell and will not be telling ghost stories, I'll be on my way as well." He then proceeded to follow Taniyama Mai out of the room.

"Taniyama-san" He began to speak she turned and pulled him into an empty classroom.

"If you wish to speak, it is best to do so out of the hallways. A vast majority of the school has a bad habit of eavesdropping." She let him into a smaller room connecting to the bigger classroom into what seemed to be a recording studio.

"Now, I take it this is about the video camera and about the injured man?"

He nodded slightly whilst looking around the room. "First of all are we allowed to be in here?" He glanced to the panels of buttons and dials on the table and to the glass that separated them from a conjoining room.

She smiled, "Of course you are not, but I am. so I am giving you temporary permission to be in here. Don't worry so much. You came for a reason, didn't you?"

He nodded slightly, again, and begin again "Lin, the man you who you injured is in the hospital with a broken ankle and a concussion. This causes many difficulties seeing as he's my assistant. The camera is broken to the point where it's almost completely useless." He paused letting it sink in, "So, not only is my custom-made camera broken, my assistant can't do his job and it's your fault."

Mai looked thoughtful for a moment and nodded. "I understand what you're trying to say, but you really need to learn how to ask people things. A camera that expensive most likely has insurance so I'm not worried about that, but seeing as how I am the reason your assistant is in the hospital, I'll help you with what you need. But I will need to be done before 7 I do have an actual job."

He nodded in agreement, and begin to process the fact that this girl was able to catch on that quickly.

"So, what is it you do?" she asked just a moment later. He smirked and handed her a business card.

"Shibyua Psychic Research Center? So you're here for the obviously structurally unsound building that the principal wants to demolish."

He nodded, even though it really wasn't a question.

"Okay."

He looked at her, surprise that she was taking this so easily.

"Are we going to going anywhere, or are we just going to stay in this cramped control room?"

He blinked then turned towards the door. "Let's go."

Why is she acting so normally? This is not normal. Maybe she has a past but the Paranormal? That has to be it. If that is the case, I'll have to be careful around her. She might recognize my real name. He mused to himself unknowningly projecting his thoughts to the girl standing right behind him.

Kessa: Sorry again about the wait guys, for the last chapter and this chapter. I put in the end of the last one that I was going to wait a little while to update again but then I realized how freaking short that chapter was. I already had this partially typed up and I was just being kind of lazy and so here you go, you get this the same day you got the last chapter. Don't get used to it. I'll probably be updating more often now that it's summer break, and next semester I should have more time to write so I should be able to spend more of my time on this and on my other stories. Thank you so much for being amazing. Normally I'd have Mai or Naru doing the intro, but they're currently in a heated argument about the best kind of tea and what exactly Mai's job entails her to. I do not own Ghost hunt, I'm just a fan with a plan.
