Hi everyone. So…I understand that I've probably frustrated some people with my prolonged periods of hiatus, and even I wasn't sure if this story would get back up off the ground again. I know that some of you have probably abandoned this, but hopefully there are still a few of you that I can entertain. I can't make any promises as to how frequently I'll be updating, but I am hoping that it is much more often, because I enjoy writing this so much. So, without further ask, I present to you, Chapter 17. Enjoy!
It was a hot, sticky afternoon in Ba Sing Se. The sun was high in the sky, beating down on the poor citizens. Unfortunately for many of the city's delegates, they had to remain in their heavy clothing despite the less-than-desirable conditions outside.
Fortunately for Aang and his friends, they weren't presently in Ba Sing Se; rather, they were enjoying a day at the beach on Ember Island.
It was Sokka's idea. He had wanted a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city and decided that the Gaang needed a vacation. Of course the idea was enthusiastically approved by the rest of the group, and within hours they found themselves on the Fire Nation island.
Sokka was again trying to make a sand sculpture to impress Suki. Though his art and sculpting skills were…ahem…less-than-impressive, to put it kindly, he was improving, even if only slightly. Suki thought it was sweet, but she couldn't help but giggle at the utter talentlessness her boyfriend possessed when it came to the arts.
Toph, of course was lying in the sand, picking her toes with one hand and her nose with the other. Gross, but not very interesting.
Moving on, a ways away from the rest of the group, two lovers were lying in the cool sand just at the edge of the shore, allowing the waves to come in and barely get their toes wet. Those two lovers happened to be the most famous couple in the world: Avatar Aang and Master Katara. Normally, the two would be dressed formally in preparation for a meeting or social gathering, but not today. They were dressed in only their bathing suits, relaxing on the beach and acting as who they really were: two lovestruck children.
Katara kissed Aang on the forehead and sighed contentedly. "I really love this. Being able to spend time with you alone. I miss it."
He responded with a kiss to her forehead. "Me, too. I've missed you," he said in his sweetest, softest voice.
She smiled. "I've missed you, too. You're always so busy…you work too hard."
"I know," he said. "I'll make it up to you." He pecked her lips. "I promise."
"You don't have to do that," she told him, "but it was sweet of you to say." She gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Despite having dated Katara for nearly two months now, his cheeks tinted pink. "Hehe…" he uttered.
"What's the matter, Aang?" Katara teased. "Things getting a little…hot?" She kissed him forcefully on the lips.
"Mmn!" Aang was a little surprised at the sudden action. Not that he'd complain or anything. The feeling of Katara's soft, sweet lips on his were enough to make him dizzy for hours.
This particular kiss was rather rough. No tongue, but rough. Katara flipped them so that she was on top of him, and she caressed every part of his body above the waistline.
Aang's arms wrapped around her as he kissed her back shyly, never daring to allow his hands to wander anywhere below her shoulders. He was only thirteen after all, no need to go too far.
After about twenty seconds, Katara pulled away mercifully, allowing poor Aang to regain his breath.
The young Avatar's face, as one could imagine, was redder than a Fire Nation flag. "K-Katara," he panted. What…was that? I mean, I liked it, but why…?"
She giggled at how cute he was. "Because I love you, and I want to burn it into your mind."
"I…love you, too," he replied, still a little stunned, blush ever-present.
She put a hand to his cheek, and she smirked when she felt its heat. "Oh, Aang, your face…"
He smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, well…" he mumbled.
"It's cute," she told him, touching his other cheek with her other hand. She gave him another kiss, shorter this time. "Just like you."
