Hey, guys. This one is short, so I apologize in advance. I'm writing this chapter for 1 with the pen. Hope you all like it!
Oh, and PS: I don't own Avatar: The Last Airbender.
"Aang, what are you doing?"
The thirteen-year-old Avatar looked up from his task and put it aside, out of Katara's sight. He had been very busy for the last week. Not with meetings, or peacekeeping, though.
"Nothing, Katara. Just, uh…making something," he replied.
"Oh? What's that?" she asked.
"Umm…let's just say, it'll be useful one day," he told her.
"Okay…what exactly is it?" she pressed.
"We'll, it's um…" he stammered. "…I can't tell you."
"Aang, come on," she said, smirking. "I won't tell anybody if it's a secret, I promise."
"That's just it," Aang said. "It is a secret."
Katara sighed in mock defeat. "All right," she conceded. "If it's that important to you, I'll let you keep your little secret. But I'll find out one day…" She walked away.
When Katara was out of range, Aang sighed in relief. "Phew…"
He took out his little craft. It was nothing much—yet. It was a cerulean gem he was carving, hanging from dark indigo silk band.
That's right, it was a betrothal necklace.
Aang knew very well that he and Katara were a bit too young for marriage. But he had decided to start making the necklace a couple of weeks ago so that he'd have as much time as he could to make it absolutely perfect…because Katara deserved nothing less.
Aang loved Katara so much…and he wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with her. But, again, they were young…which meant that Aang had all the time in the world. Yet…he couldn't wait.
And as he held the unfinished product in his palm, he smiled and said to himself:
"Yes, she will find out. One day…"
