I have no excuse for the lack of updates. Life and everything in it was just my main priority. I have a few chapters edited and will be updating again. Thank you for reading! I can't believe my original version of this is ten years old o.O
I was forced back into the apartment with a dirty rag shoved into my mouth. I could hear the Joker laughing behind us as the door to the apartment was slowly shut.
"Make her feel welcomed, boys," the Joker sneered, as I was turned around to face him. Two men held my arms still while the other checked my shorts pockets for anymore weapons. He got too close to my front zipper so I attempted to kick him, my eyes narrowing in on him. After realizing, I had nothing on me, the man held out my backpack to the Joker.
I remembered having it on the bus with me but I guess they just now found it…
I watched as the Joker took off his purple coat and laid it over a chair in the nearby kitchen. He waited until his leather gloves were off before finally taking my backpack from one of his men. He dramatically placed it on the table in the kitchen and began shifting through my bag. I had nothing I was afraid of them finding or stealing. My cellphone was already tossed away from the bus's windows and my wallet had zero cash.
The Joker pulled out my blush colored wallet from the bag and unzipped it. He slowly pulled out my driver's license from the window pouch and examined it. He tilted it, smiling, examining my photo. My body started to shake in fear as he read aloud my home address.
"1225 W. 34th St, Bldg 2. Gotham City." He read each word aloud slowly, as if he were memorizing it.
My mind went to that of my parents. If they died because of my stupidity, I would never forgive myself. I tried to speak through the gag in my mouth but it was useless. I tried to use my tongue to force the gag out but there was too much fabric. Thankfully, one of the men yanked the cloth out from my mouth from a command given by the Joker. I was desperate to get myself out safety and prevent any harm to my family so I blurted out the first thing that came to my mind.
"If..if its money you want, my Dad can give it to you." My dad was a police officer but could not afford any sort of ransom these criminals could possibly conjure up, but I was trying my best to negotiate despite my naive mind. I watched the Joker's expression change from curious to offended.
"I wouldn't be talkin if I was you," the man holding my left arm grunted. His grip tightened as the Joker gave me a piercing stare but it quickly vanished as he went back to exploring my wallet. I watched him slowly pull out another card and cocked his eyebrow as he studied my college identification card.
"You waste your youth going to school?"
I did not know if I should speak again so I remained silent as he finished going through my belongings. I watched as my wallet was stuffed into his pants pocket and I figured he was done until he spotted a Polaroid photo in the front pocket of my backpack. I bit my lip as he examined the photo of me and Alex from a field trip in High School. Alex had pulled me in for a friendly embrace and we were both laughing. I cherished the photo more than anything since I knew we would never be.
"Your boyfriend?" I refused to give him the satisfaction of answering so I stood there defiantly quiet.
"Makes no difference who he is, you won't be seeing any of them ever again."
The photo was stuffed back inside its home in my backpack. I breathed a small sigh of relief of knowing he didn't tear it to shreds. The Joker gave a slight head nod towards the two men restraining me and I feared what could come next.
The men turned me around and led me back into the first room I was introduced to. I dug my heels into the wood floor to prevent from going back in there but they just lifted me up slightly as if I weighed nothing.
I saw the opened door and began panicking. "Please, please don't!" There was still a rotting corpse in the windowless room and I did not have a ways to escape this time. My body was thrown onto the floor and the door quickly slammed shut behind me. I heard them lock the door and laugh as one of them repeated my address to me. I froze and began thinking the worst.
I stood up and began pounding on the door and jiggling the door handle. "Please! PLEASE! Leave my family alone!" I refused to stop until I heard a response. "PLEASE!" My throat was becoming sore but that was the least of my worries. My fists kept pounding on the door, tears streaming down my face, but I refused to give up. Someone was bound to hear me in one of these nearby apartments.
"LET ME OUTTA HERE!" In-between my kicking and screaming, I heard muffled voices in the living room so I knew I had some time still. "Please! Dammit!" My throat was aching but I was determined to annoy them to the point of release.
A loud bang caused me to temporarily stop all noise. "Sam and Carla Canton."
I froze. How did the Joker get the names of my parents. It was already dangerous enough that he had my families' address.
"Please," I resorted to a whisper to hopefully gain some sort of sympathy. "Please don't hurt my family." I leaned my forehead against the door, my two palms resting on the door as well, as I closed my eyes. "I..I didn't call the police when I saw you at the bank."
"LIAR!" The Joker roared as he pounded once on other side of the door so hard, it caused me to back away in fear.
