(WARNING: Short chapter ahead.)
Hey, guys. Look, I had originally planned a Part IV for A Kataang Christmas, but…it just didn't happen. I lost the document, and it really wasn't that great, anyway. But…I have something else for you: The Date (Part III)! Enjoy! (I own nothing! You can't prove anything!)
A picinic. A nice, relaxing picnic.
Simple enough, right? Aang knew he couldn't possibly screw up something as simple as a picnic…right?
Deep breath…okay. Basket, check. Picnic blanket, check. Food…oh, right. That was a major problem. Aang was not the greatest cook in the world. What was he going to do?! A picnic without food? Not really much of a picnic, if you ask me.
Well…he could try to convince Sokka to help him make stewed sea prunes. But that probably wouldn't have been such a great idea; Sokka wanted absolutely nothing to do with the love-life of his baby sister. "Too many oogies," he said.
Aang could probably get Suki to help him…but he knew firsthand that Suki's cooking wasn't exactly gourmet material.
Hmm…he could go to Katara. After all, she was an excellent cook and she loved—
Oh, wait… Aang slapped his forehead. Because, you know, asking your girlfriend to cook for your date with her was a good idea, right? Yeah—no.
And Toph was out of the question, for obvious reasons. So what was Aang going to do?
Wait a second… he was in the Fire Nation. Duh, Zuko would help him! The Fire Nation Palace had some of the greatest cooks in the world! All Aang needed to do was ask Zuko to tell the cooks to prepare a few things. After all, the Fire Lord did owe Aang a favor after the whole Yu Dao fiasco.
As the young Avatar was wandering the Fire Nation Palace's halls in search of the kitchen, of all the people he could possibly have run into, crossing his path was none other than Katara. Of course.
"Hi, Aang," Katara chirped. "What are you doing?" She smiled brightly.
"Umm…" It probably wasn't the greatest idea to let his girlfriend know that he still wasn't ready for their date—which, by the way, was in two hours! So, he lied. "I just needed Zuko to, uh, show me how to do a Firebending move. I don't think I've got it yet."
"Oh…well, I'll see you later then." Katara walked away—toward the kitchen.
"Oh, no…" Aang said as he watched her open the kitchen door.
Now what? If Katara saw the cooks preparing stewed sea prunes and a traditional Air Nomad vegetable salad, she'd put the pieces together. But Aang wanted to make this a surprise. So the picnic was now out of the question.
He sighed. This…wasn't good.
