Hi, guys. First official chapter of 2014! Woo! (The last one was actually posted at around 10pm on New Years' Eve, so…) Enjoy it, I think it's a keeper! (And no, I do not own Avatar, so there.)
"Um…Katara…"
Needless to say, when Aang saw the not-so-innocent dress Katara planned on wearing to the Earth King's party, he was a little…uncomfortable.
"What?" Katara twirled around in the dress she had bought the previous day. She had taken Aang into her room to ask him which dress she should wear, and she was a bit confused from his reaction. "Don't I look okay?"
"No, no, you look great!" Aang said, a bit too hastily. "It's just…don't you think that dress is a little…provocative? I mean, if the neck were any lower, everyone would see your, uh—"
"Aang, I'm wearing a—"
"I know, I know!" Aang said, his cheeks heating up.
"Um…Aang?" Katara giggled. "Are you…okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, fine," he said, flustered. "I just think you should wear a different dress."
"Oh, come on, Aang, you're not my father," Katara said.
"No, I'm your boyfriend," Aang replied, "and I don't want everyone at the party to fall all over you and try to get a look at your…um…well, y-you know."
"My what?" she asked, giggling again at Aang's innocence.
"Oh, don't make me say it!" he whined childishly. "I don't like to say those sorts of things."
"Oh, Aang, I love you," Katara said amusedly, smiling at him and giving him a hug.
"Um…I love you too?" Poor Aang was getting confused.
"You know, I think you're cute when you're all befuddled like that," Katara said, smirking.
"Befuddled? I'm not befuddled!" Aang insisted. "I just don't want people drooling all over you!"
"Aang, come on," Katara pleaded. "Let me wear this. Please?"
"Don't you have other things to wear?" Aang asked. "Not that you don't look good in this one, but—"
"Aang, Aang…" Katara put a finger to his lips. "You are most definitely befuddled."
And then she kissed him. She made sure to do a pretty good job, too. Maybe he would let her wear the dress if she distracted him enough.
When it was over, poor Aang was, of course, even more befuddled. "Wh-what was that?"
But Katara quickly fled the room, running as fast as she could down the hallway.
Aang sighed, just sitting there for a few seconds, before he realized what had just happened.
Then he got up and started running after her. "Katara, wait! Your dress!"
