New chapter! I'm so happy that I've been able to do so much now that school is out! I wont be able to do much next week and the last week of June though. I will be helping out at my church for VBS (Vacation Bible School) and I will be at Student Life camp that's for 7th through 12th graders. So I have done as much as I could this week.
Chapter 10: Back to training
Just like Sandclaw had promised, Flowerpaw went back to training a half moon later. The clan was currently watching Snowkit, Windkit, and Moonkit become apprentices.
"Snowkit, from this day forward until you earn your warrior name you shall be known as Snowpaw." Leafstar announced and the graying she-cat looked at the light brown pelt of Lillyleap. "Lillyleap, you had a great mentor in Treeheart and I hope you pass on everything you know to your new apprentice."
Lillyleap nodded with her eyes shinning in excitement. The she-cat padded over to the white tortoiseshell and they touched noses, then they both went over to join the warriors.
"Windkit from this day forward until you earn your warrior name you shall be known as Windpaw." Leafstar mewed and looked into the yellow-green eyes of Foxtail. "Foxtail, you have great battle skills and are known for your sharp eyes. I want you to pass on everything you know to Windpaw."
Foxtail padded up to Windpaw. They touched noses and joined Snowpaw and Lillyleap.
"Moonkit, you have chosen a different path from your brothers. You wish to become a Medicine Cat." Leafstar looked at the one-eyed gaze of Sandclaw. "Sandclaw has agreed to have you as his apprentice. So from this day forward you shall be known as Moonpaw. May Starclan watch over you and give you the wisdom to become a Medicine Cat."
Moonpaw's eyes shined like the river running through the gorge as Sandclaw touched noses with his new apprentice and the clan chanted their names.
"SNOWPAW, WINDPAW, MOONPAW! SNOWPAW, WINDPAW, MOONPAW!"
Flowerpaw ran over to to the new apprentices with her cream and white tail streaming behind her. Windpaw's ears perked up when he saw her.
"I'm glad you're now apprentices!" Flowerpaw mewed excitedly.
"So are we!" Snowpaw put in. "We finally get to learn how to hunt and fight!"
"Aren't you excited Moonpaw?" Flowerpaw asked, turning to the gray apprentice.
Moonpaw simply nodded and smiled before Sandclaw called to her and lead her to the top of the gorge. Foxtail and Lillyleap called to the two brothersand they went to the top of the gorge to see the territory.
"Are you ready to get back to training?" Badgerface asked.
"More than anything!" Flowerpaw replied with her bright green eyes shining.
Badgerface smiled and led Flowerpaw up the trail to the top of the gorge and over to the sandy clearing. Badgerface crouched at the other side of the clearing.
"I need to get you back on track if you want to become a warrior. Come at me with all you've got."
Flowerpaw launched herself at Badgerface and lightly cuffed his ears with her white paws. Badgerface growled and knocked his apprentice on to her side and nipped her neck. Flowerpaw pushed her mentor away and reared up on her hind legs and began swiping at the white-stripped warriors face. Badgerface reared up on his hind legs and knocked Flowerpaw's paws back. The cream and white apprentice lost her balance and Badgerface took the opportunity to push Flowerpaw down and pin her to the ground.
"Nice job for your first time in over a moon." Badgerface told his apprentice.
"I can do better! Let me try again!" Flowerpaw told her mentor.
Badgerface smiled and let Flowerpaw get back on her paws. Flowerpaw leaped on to Badgerface's back and dug in her claws as the black warrior tried to get her off.
"Go right ahead."
Dusk
Flowerpaw was smiling when she ran into camp. Badgerface told her that they would be working on hunting skills the next morning with Nightpaw and that she needed to get some rest for it. Flowerpaw fluffed out her fur from the cold leaf-bare wind and padded over to the fresh-kill pile and chose out a plump rabbit for the Elders.
"This will make Patchfoot and the other elders happy." Flowerpaw thought to herself as she dragged the rabbit into the Elders cave.
Patchfoot looked up and blinked at the cream furred she-cat.
"Is that you Flowerpaw?" The old cat asked, wheezing from still having greencough. "It's getting harder to see things now."
"Can Sandclaw do anything to help you?" Flowerpaw asked as she set the rabbit in front of the black and white Elder.
"Sandclaw can't bring eyesight back from old age." Cherrytail put in.
"Patchfoot will most likely lose his eyesight at this rate." Sharpclaw added.
Patchfoot looked at the ground before looking back at Flowerpaw and nodding gratefully to her.
"Thank you very much for the rabbit."
"Your welcome Patchfoot."
Flowerpaw left the Elders cave and padded back over to the fresh-kill pile and chose a robin out for herself. She went over to the Apprentices cave and laid down next to Robinpaw, who was eating a shrew and watching Snowpaw and Windpaw practice the battle moves they had learned.
"Do you like that you're training again?" Robinpaw asked when she gulped down the last of her shrew.
"Of course! I'm so glad I'm no longer in the Medicine Cats den anymore. It was so boring." Flowerpaw replied and went back to watching Windpaw and Snowpaw.
"Me and Jaypaw are glad that you're back as well." Robinpaw said and got up before stretching. "I better get to sleep now for training."
Robinpaw went into the cave and curled up in her nest. Flowerpaw soon finished her robin and curled up in her nest next to the white, brown and ginger pelt of Robinpaw. She fell asleep and with thoughts on what she will be doing tomorrow.
Authors Note:
Short? I know. I was planning on it being longer and then I got a tiny case of writers block that made this chapter the way it is. I have seen a lot of other authors do this and I think I will start doing this too. I would like to respond to peoples reviews next chapter in case they have questions. And it will especially help with Guest reviews. So until later I say goodbye to you all.
P.S. Please review!
