Chapter 44: Crescent Moon Kingdom
"So, this person we're supposed to escort, he's important, isn't he, Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura asked as she looked to her sensei.
Currently, Kakashi, Sasuke, Sakura, and Lee – who was stepping in for Naruto – were walking through a hot desert-like area as they were on their way to a mission. Apparently it was a B-Rank mission to escort some noble back to his home country as he'd been away for a while.
"According to Tsunade-sama, he is." Kakashi replied to Sakura's question.
Just then, they came to a stop as they saw something in the distance. It was a huge caravan with many wagons, each one pulled by two horses.
"Is this all for one person?" Sakura asked as the caravan was passing by them.
"What are all these wagons for, anyway?" Lee asked.
"My shopping." Came a voice, and they looked towards one of the wagons as they came to a stop and a fat guy walked out of it as he continued "I saw so many wonderful things in all the lands we visited, I had to have them. So I just kept buying and buying and before I knew it, I ended up with all this." Before coming to a stop in front of them as he put his hands on his hips.
He had shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes. His attire consisted of a blue sleeveless robe and white pants along with a scarf with a white-yellow-and-blue triangular pattern. He also wore a red hat and had jewelry around his neck.
"I am the Prince of the Crescent Moon Kingdom. I'm Michiru." The man said, introducing himself before saying "And you, I take it…?"
"Are from Konohagakure no Sato, your majesty. I'm Hatake Kakashi. I'm the squad leader." Kakashi said before gesturing towards his students "This is Uchiha Sasuke."
"Hn." Sasuke just looked to the side.
"Haruno Sakura."
"Pleasure's mine." Sakura said with a slight bow of her head.
"And Rock Lee."
"Sir!" Lee said as he gave a salute.
"The four of us are your escorts. We're here to see you safely home to your kingdom." Kakashi finished.
"Whoa. I can see I'm in good hands." Michiru said before walking over to Sakura and leaning down as he said "Well, hello, aren't you the pretty one. Far too pretty to be a Ninja."
"Don't be deceived. She's well qualified." Kakashi said with an eye-smile.
"You don't say." Michiru said before holding out his hand "Thank you. I'm glad you've come."
"Oh, that's alright, really." Sakura said as she took his hand, and he then brought his other hand over it and began rubbing her hand, much to the annoyance of Lee.
"Oh, she's cute." Michiru said as he kept on rubbing the back of Sakura's hand, however, she then smiled brightly as she squeezed down on his hand, nearly crushing it. Michiru attempted to get out of her hold, but wasn't able to at all, until she released him, causing him to stumble backwards before regaining his balance as he began rubbing his sore hand.
"Like you said; you're in good hands." Kakashi said as he eyes were closed, while Lee could barely restrain his laughter, and Sasuke was smiling.
"Ah, I see. Very impressive." Michiru said.
Just then, an arrow tipped with a suction cup flew towards Sasuke, though he merely just moved his head to the side, causing it to miss.
"Impressive. I guess you're better than you look." A boy said as he walked out of the wagon that Michiru had come out of earlier while tying the small bow to his sash.
The boy had short black hair and brown eyes, and had a pair of large round glasses in front of his eyes. He wore a white outfit with blue, triangular trimmings held closed by a simple sash, a pair of pants and brown boots. He also carried a quiver of arrows slung over his back.
"Hoh. I hope you'll forgive my son, Hikaru. He's in that mischievous stage that boys go through." Michiru said as Hikaru came over to them to stand next to his father.
"Nice to meet you, Hikaru." Kakashi said with a smile.
"Hn." Sasuke said.
"Well, then. Shall we be off?" Michiru asked as he and his son then headed back to their wagon.
Konoha
A lone swordswoman was walking through the streets of Konoha. She had brown hair in a pony-tail, and wore a sleeve-less brown leather shirt with a shoulder-guard on her left shoulder and brown pants. She had her katana at her left hip and her eyes were differently colored, with the right one being green and the left one being violet. This was Kana, the swordswoman who had previously been seen accompanying an overly eccentric blunette and a cute Demoness.
'That's just great. I finally reach Konoha, only to find that the last member of that clan is away on a mission. What should I do now? Wait for him to return?' She looked around and quickly decided against it 'No. If I made a ruckus here, I'd get swarmed. Then should I try to pick up on his trail and follow him? That way, I could hopefully off him while he's on his own.'
As she was walking, she was passed by a certain black-haired, blue-eyed boy. He took a notice of the hate-filled look in Kana's eyes. Bakuto Masaki didn't see where he was going, though, as something or rather, someone ran into him. He looked down, to see a young boy with goggles on his head.
"Ah, sorry." The boy apologized.
"No. It's all right." Bakuto said with a smile.
"Konohamaru-kun, hurry up!" A girl the boy's age called out to him as she waved at him.
"Ah. Coming!" The boy, Konohamaru said before quickly bowing to Bakuto and then running over to his friends; the girl and another boy next to her.
Bakuto looked after them for a sec with a slight smile before his face turned serious as he looked back towards Kana.
'That girl…' He thought.
Elsewhere
"Yawn…" Shikamaru yawned heavily as he, Gaomon, Ino, and Choji were walking through a street in Konoha, on their way to the Hokage Tower.
"Hey, have you guys heard? My father told me that the Tsuchikage is coming to Konoha to form an alliance with us." Choji said.
"Yeah, my father said that too. If this alliance happens, then we'll be one step closer to the Sandaime's dream of unifying the Shinobi Nations." Ino said.
"We'll see how long that lasts." Shikamaru said.
"Huh? Shikamaru?" Choji asked.
"Hey, what's the matter?" Ino said.
"Yeah, shouldn't you be happy that this alliance is happening?" Gaomon asked as he looked up at his partner.
"There's a lot of bad blood between Konoha and Iwa. Do you really think they're just gonna up and forget about it just like that? Most likely, they're just using these talks to attack the village when we least expect it." Shikamaru said.
"Well, that's…" Ino began.
"I think you're just being paranoid, Shikamaru." Choji said as he put a potato chip in his mouth.
"Besides, Iwa has a history of betraying their "allies"." Shikamaru said, causing the other three to remain silent.
Hokage Tower, Tsunade's office
The members of Team 10 minus Asuma were standing before the Hokage's desk as they received their mission.
"As I'm sure you've all heard, not too long ago, the Witch, Medusa launched an attack on Death City, the main base for the Death Weapon Meister Academy, or DWMA for short. Supposedly, she was killed during the attack, but due to information recently dug up by the DWMA, there is a chance that she may have survived. Some DWMA scouts were tracking her, however, DWMA lost contact with their scouts here in the Shinobi Nations. Unfortunately, they have their hands full, dealing with other matters, and can't spend troops to look for the Witch, which is why they've asked us Shinobi for assistance." The Godaime Hokage, Tsunade said.
"Hold on, a Witch? Don't you think you should give this mission to someone more experienced?" Ino asked.
"Don't worry. This is only a recon mission. All you need to do is find the Witch, then just report back and we'll send Jiraiya in to deal with the rest." Tsunade said.
"And that's why you're sending our team. Because of Ino's Jutsu." Shikamaru said.
"That's part of it, yes." Tsunade said.
"But wouldn't it be easier if Asuma-sensei came along as well?" Choji asked.
"Unfortunately Asuma was summoned by the Daimyo of the Land of Fire, and he went to the Capital immediately." Tsunade's assistant, Shizune said before adding "It's likely to take several days, so he won't be able to help you."
"Oh, I see…" Choji said dejectedly with his head lowered.
"Hold on." Everyone turned to Shikamaru.
"What is it, Shika?" Gaomon asked.
"I just realized something. Isn't Death City located in the Nevada Desert in America?"
"What are you getting at?" Shizune asked.
"America lies in East Blue, so what in the world would make Medusa come all the way over to North Blue?"
The next day, Team 7
The previous day, they had traveled through a mountainous area where they had been attacked by bandits, but through the combined efforts of the three remaining members of Team 7 plus Lee took care of them easily.
Currently, they were traveling through a large open field with mountains in the distance before they came to a small town where a circus was currently open, so Michiru and Hikaru decided to stop by it.
The two Princes, some of their retainers, and Team 7 all watched the circus, though Sasuke and Kakashi didn't seem much interested in it. Eventually though, the Circus Director came out into the middle of the tent and walked onto the small round platform in the middle as he held a microphone to his mouth.
"And now, what you've all been waiting for! The one and only, Chamu, the saber-toothed tiger!" The Circus Director said as a drum-roll could be heard and colored lights started traveling all over the place before they settled on a small ledge sticking out of the wall as the aforementioned saber-toothed tiger had walked out onto it.
Chamu let out a roar, startling some of the members of the audience, including Michiru, and then, as the lights followed him, he jumped onto the other ledge on the opposite end of the wall before jumping down onto the platform in the middle.
"As rare as he is dangerous; the only one of his kind in captivity!" The Circus Director said before continuing "And here's Chamu's friend and partner, Kiki!" And a small monkey came down and landed on Chamu's head.
"And now, Chamu and Kiki have a very special treat for you!" The Circus Director said.
The tiger, Chamu, and the monkey, Kiki, then started playing with a beach ball, before Chamu jumped though several flaming rings and then walked onto the platform in the middle as he gave another two roars.
Kiki then landed on the tiger's head with a red apple in-hand as he took a bite out of it before throwing it into the air, and the apple was shot through by an arrow, causing everyone to clap.
"If you thought that was hard, watch this!" The Circus Director said as Kiki balanced another apple on his left index finger while spinning it around and Chamu rose up on his hind legs, swaying from side to side "If he's off by even a fraction of an inch, it's bye-bye Kiki!"
"All right, we need absolute silence, everyone." The Circus Director whispered into the mic as the archer next to him was concentrating on his aim. However, before he could fire, an arrow with a suction cup on its tip flew by and hit the apple, taking it with it to the ground.
Confused, the Director, turned one of the lights towards where the arrow had come from to find Hikaru, who was standing up and holding his bow.
"Easy shot." The spoiled Prince said.
"Bravo! Good eyes, sonny!" The Circus Director said before clapping and then saying "However, let's see you handle this!" And he snapped his fingers.
Kiki was then spinning a new apple on his finger as Chamu began almost sprinting in circles around the platform in the middle.
"Go ahead, try it now. And if you can make it, you win a prize!" The Circus Director said.
Hikaru aimed carefully before firing, once again hitting the apple, square in the center and sending it to the ground as well.
"Oh, wow…" The Circus Director said in astonishment as everyone applauded.
"Atta-boy! Way to go!" Michiru said as he began clapping along with everyone else.
"Remarkable. The boy has talent." Lee said as he and Sakura were clapping as well.
"Humph. Talent isn't everything." Sasuke said with a scoff as he turned his head away, causing Sakura to look towards him.
'Sasuke-kun…' She thought.
The Circus Director then walked over to Hikaru as he said "What a great shot. I've never seen anything like it."
"I've done harder ones." Hikaru said.
"Hmmm. You deserve a prize for that one." The Circus Director said as he thought before saying "Yeah, now let me see. What do you think about a–"
"I want him." Hikaru said, cutting the guy off, as he pointed towards Chamu.
"Huh? Chamu? Oh, he's too big and dangerous, sonny." The Circus Director said before turning back to Hikaru "Besides, with Chamu gone, I wouldn't have a show."
"I don't care. I want him." Hikaru said before turning to his father "Father, please?"
"Sure, why not? You know, I've always wanted my own circus. Why don't we buy the whole thing? Tent and all." Michiru said, and the Circus Director could hardly believe what he was hearing.
"Amazing. This guy bought the whole circus?" Sakura said as she, Sasuke, and Lee were later watching the circus people pack everything down, neither of them believing what had just happened.
"Well, to be honest, I've always wanted to play in the Crescent Moon Kingdom. It's a delightful place from all I've heard." The Circus Director said as he, Michiru, Hikaru, and one other walked by where Chamu and Kiki were relaxing. Kiki had been about to feed the tiger with an apple, however, when Hikaru turned towards them, he got scared and ran off, causing Chamu to look down in disappointment as the apple had fallen to the ground.
Hikaru walked over to him as he picked up the apple and offered it the Chamu.
"Hungry?" He asked, and Chamu looked at him as he growled. Hikaru then took a step back as the tiger stood up on his feet and growled louder, causing the boy to fall on his butt.
"Ah, sonny!" The Circus Director said as he and Michiru showed up.
"Hikaru!" Michiru said.
Chamu then leapt at Hikaru as if he was going for a prey; however, Sasuke came in and grabbed the younger boy, rolling into a wooden wall.
"Be more careful next time, will you?" The Uchiha scolded as Hikaru began crying.
"Sonny, he's a wild animal. Be careful, he doesn't like Humans." The Circus Director said before Michiru grabbed him.
"Listen here! You've got to do something about him, he's dangerous!"
"W-well of course, we'll lock him up in his cage, and keep him under guard at all times. Won't happen again." The Circus Director said as Chamu ate the apple that was on the ground.
Hikaru then looked up at Sasuke as he began "I…" However, he then pushed himself away from the Uchiha before running off.
"Wait!" Sakura said as the boy ran past her and Lee.
"Tch."
The next day
The following day, the Princes' caravan, which the circus had been added to, continued traveling through the grassy plains until they eventually reached a port town from where they would take a boat to the Crescent Moon Kingdom. However, due to a storm at sea, the royal yacht which was supposed to meet them hadn't been able to set sail, so they needed to make preparations for another boat to bring them.
"Very well. In the meantime, I have an important call to make here, anyway." Was Michiru's response to this, and he and Hikaru headed into the mountains in their wagon as the Shinobi were walking in a formation around it. In not long, they arrived at a small house on a cliff over-looking the ocean. This was the home of Hikaru's mother, and Michiru's ex-wife.
As the carriage came to a stop, a woman with long brown hair and wearing a pale green dress rose to her feet as she was holding a casket filled with berries that she'd been out plucking in the small garden. She walked out of the garden as Michiru came out of the carriage, carrying a bunch of flower bouquets in his arms.
"How wonderful to see you! Amayo!" He said. The woman, Amayo, then gasped as she dropped the casket before walking quickly towards – and past – Michiru before coming to a stop before Hikaru as she leaned down.
"Hikaru, is that you?" She asked before hugging the boy and sniffling "Hikaru, my beautiful boy." She then pulled away as she continued talking "Look at you, Hikaru. You've grown."
Michiru then stepped up behind the woman as he coughed while waved one of the flower bouquets at her to get her attention, but then…
"Who are you?"
"Oh? How can you say that, Amayo?" Michiru said as he dropped all but the one flower bouquet he was holding in his hand before asking "Don't you recognize me?"
"Impossible. Michiru?" Amayo asked, a little skeptic.
"Of course it's me!" Michiru said, causing Amayo to go wide-eyed.
"What? No! No, I don't believe it!" Amayo yelled before grabbing Hikaru as she added "You're too fat!"
"Well, if I am, it's only because of you. Ever since you left me, eating's the only thing that could help me forget my loneliness." Michiru said, causing Amayo to sigh.
Not long after, Hikaru was sitting on a small stone wall outside the house while Michiru and Amayo were arguing inside as Amayo's parents were watching.
"I'm so lonely without you, so is Hikaru. Please come home, where you belong?" Michiru said.
"No. I can't be with you anymore. My only regret is Hikaru. If I hadn't signed that stupid wedding contract, I'd keep him here with me, and raise him myself!" Amayo said.
"Why do you hate me so much, Amayo? I gave you everything you ever wanted, didn't I? Wasn't it enough?" Michiru asked.
"Oh, Michiru, you never gave me the most important thing." Amayo said.
"Huh? Hmmm…" Michiru then began thinking before saying "How 'bout a new palace? A pink one?"
"No!" Amayo yelled as she slammed her left hand down on the table.
"Then, how 'bout a villa for your parents? That way, they could live with us, year-round, even in the winter." Michiru said as Amayo's parents smiled and nodded.
"Ugh!" At that, Michiru and Amayo's parents flinched. Amayo then sat down on the chair as Michiru came over to her.
"Don't be so mean. Come on, come live with me again." Michiru said before getting down on his knees and adding "I'll give you everything you want. Name it. You want the royal jewels? You can have them, my love. Anything of mine." He then took her hand in his as he continued "I'll even give up the Crescent Moon Kingdom for you–"
Hearing that, Amayo rose to her feet, startling Michiru, before she slapped him across the cheek.
"You really haven't changed at all." Amayo said as she looked down on him with contempt "Even now, you haven't got a clue, have you? About what really matters?"
Hikaru looked at what had just transpired with wide eyes.
Later
Later that evening as the ship had arrived and everything was getting lifted onto it, Michiru and Hikaru was sitting at the end of one of the walkways that was going out over the ocean surface. (Kurama no Kyubi: Don't know what they're called.)
Michiru sighed as he said "I don't understand. What more could she want?"
"Prince Michiru-dono, may I have a word with you about our departure plans?" An elderly retainer asked as he came up behind them.
"… Oh, all right." Michiru said as he rose to his feet and walked off with the retainer.
"It's proving difficult to fit everything on board the ship after all. We may have to send some things later." The retainer said.
When they had left, Hikaru pulled out his pink Game-Boy and turned it on to begin playing.
"Hard to believe, isn't it? That she's the boy's mother." Sakura said as she was looking towards Hikaru from where she was sitting on the dock.
Sasuke who was standing next to her with his back to where the kid was and his hands in his pockets just scoffed.
"Say, Sasuke-kun, how was your mother like?" Sakura asked as she looked up at him, however, when he looked at her, she immediately looked down on the ground in front of her in shame as she said "… Sorry. I guess you don't wanna talk about it."
Sasuke turned his head to his right as he spoke "… She was nice. She always talked to me whenever I was feeling down and was always encouraging me." As he spoke, Sakura thought she saw a single tear go down Sasuke's cheek from his left eye.
"I'm gonna see how the loading's coming along." Sakura said as she rose to her feet and walked off, deciding to give the Uchiha some alone-time.
Sasuke looked after her as he walked before wiping away the tears, and as he was done with that, he noticed out of the corner of his eyes that Hikaru was walking back onto the dock and walked over to him.
"Isn't it lonely standing by yourself out here?" Hikaru asked.
"Humph. I like being left alone." Sasuke said before he began walking in the direction Sakura had walked before.
"You should be my vassal." Hikaru said, causing the Uchiha to stop in his tracks.
He looked over his shoulder as he asked "What?"
"Serve me as my vassal, and I'll give you anything you want." Hikaru said.
"Humph. Grow up, kid. And stop acting so spoiled." Sasuke said as he continued to walk.
Later… again
As the boat was traveling under the night sky, the people on it were partying on the deck. Hikaru, who was sitting at one of the tables, noticed that the apples on the table were getting stolen, and looking under the table, he saw that the culprit was none other than the circus monkey, Kiki. Upon realizing that he'd been found, Kiki threw the apple away and ran off before coming to a stop and looked back towards Hikaru.
The boy then took up the apple and held it out towards Kiki.
"Here." He said, and the monkey came towards him.
Soon after, the two of them came to the area on the boat which had the circus animals, and they walked over to Chamu's cage. Hikaru looked at the apple he was holding in his hand before walking towards the cage as the tiger growled. He held out the apple, but Chamu stood up and slammed his front-paws against the steel bars, startling Hikaru and causing him to fall onto his rear.
"Stupid tiger!" Hikaru yelled as he threw the apple the cage, causing it to shatter as it hit one of the bars.
With Sasuke
Sasuke was leaning with his arms on the railing as he looked into the horizon. There, he could barely see a white wall under construction and familiar-looking ships floating near it; the ships of the Holy Alliance, and the wall they were building was circling all the way around the hole into Daemonium.
"After you returned you returned from your mission to the Land of Sea, Tsunade-sama sent out a team of ANBU to investigate, but they didn't find a corpse, so I'm sure that Sora-san is all right." Kakashi said as he stepped up next to the Uchiha.
Sasuke didn't respond however, but just then…
"Sakura-san?!" They heard Lee's voice and turned towards the table that he and Sakura were sitting at. Sakura seemed to have all of a sudden risen to her feet, causing her chair to fall as she stared off into the distance with a blank expression on her face.
"I suddenly had this familiar feeling rush past me." The pinkette said, causing Lee to look at her confused.
Kakashi then looked off towards where the ship was headed to see a bunch of thunder clouds "Hmm… I don't like the look of that." And Sasuke looked towards where he was looking as well.
Later, when the boat was sailing through the storm, was Michiru lying sea-sick over the edge of his bed before there was a knock on the door and one of his retainers came in.
"Your highness. The cargo's in danger of falling over-boards along with the animals." The retainer said.
"Ooh… Do something, then. I didn't bring those things all this way just to lose them at sea." Michiru said as Hikaru sat up in his bed as a lightning strike could be heard.
With the Shinobi
Kakashi, Lee, and Sakura ran off towards the deck, however, as Sasuke was about to go after them, he heard a familiar voice.
"What's the point?" It was Hikaru.
"Hmm? You say something?" Sasuke asked as he looked down at the kid.
"Who cares about the stupid animals? Just let 'em drown."
"What was that?" Sasuke asked as he stepped up before Hikaru.
"A-anyway, it's too dangerous out th–" He didn't get to finish however as Sasuke grabbed his collar.
"They may be just animals to you, but they're still living beings. And when you bought them, you gained responsibility for them. You can't just throw them away if you get tired of them." He said before pushing Hikaru into the wall and letting him fall to the floor as he continued "If you're not gonna be any help, then go back to bed and stay out of our way. You're a waste of space." And he then walked in the direction of the deck.
For a while, Hikaru just sat there until he fell down on the floor and he then clenched his fists as he muttered to himself.
"I'm not… no… I'm not a waste of space!" Speaking the second half loudly, he rose to his feet and ran off.
On the deck
Hikaru reached the open door which led to the part of the deck where the circus animals were. He walked out into the fierce rain and winds, trying to make his way to Chamu's cage, though it wasn't easy with how strong the winds were. At one point when the winds were attempting to blow him away, he grabbed onto a mammoth's right tusk, and he looked towards Chamu's cage where the Circus Director, who had tried to open it to get the tiger to safety, fell onto his back due to the winds.
Kiki then came over to Hikaru and grabbed onto his left leg.
"Kiki!"
As a strong wave hit the ship, the water splashed over it and into the area with the animals, causing Chamu's cage to slide towards Hikaru before hitting a metal pole. As another wave hit the ship, the cages slid back towards the railing, with some of them even falling over-boards.
"It's no use. It's hopeless." The Circus Director said as he began crawling away.
Chamu in the meantime was pounding on the lock which had the keys in them, though he wasn't able to open it. Hikaru then let go of the mammoth's tusk as he slowly began to make his way over to the cage, Kiki climbing onto his back.
"What're you doing? Go! Leave 'im!" The Circus Director yelled as he noticed what Hikaru was trying to do. This also caught the attention of Sasuke who was trying to help one of the retainers in getting a polar bear inside in the background.
As the young Prince attempted to get over to Chamu's cage, the winds suddenly blew him away before they changed direction and blew him towards the cage instead.
He then moved over to the door to the cage, turned the key, and opened the door before Chamu ran out and towards the mammoth as Kiki jumped onto his head.
Hikaru smiled, however, just then, another wave came over the boat, taking Kiki with it, and as he passed Hikaru, the young Prince grabbed him by the leg. Chamu's cage then fell over-board as Hikaru was struggling to stay on the boat, himself. Then, another wave came over the boat, this one taking Hikaru and Kiki with it.
"Hikaru!" Sasuke yelled, however, the saber-toothed tiger that didn't at all like Humans, had saved Hikaru by catching Hikaru's pajamas with his mouth. However, when he was trying to pull the boy and the monkey back onto the boat, he was blown over-board himself by the fierce winds.
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" Sasuke called out and suddenly 10 clones of him appeared as they jumped after the tiger and grabbed his tail before pulling him, the boy, and Kiki up with a little help from Sakura.
"Hikaru!" Sakura ran over to them as they landed next to the mammoth.
'When did he learn the Kage Bunshin?' Kakashi thought with a single wide eye before closing it in an eye-smile as he thought 'Hmm… Looks like even when they're apart, they're rivalry is still apparent.'
Somewhere else in the World, a certain blond sneezed.
The next day
The following day, they finally arrived at the island, which even looked like a crescent moon.
"Be sure to come visit us at the palace." Michiru said as he sat in his carriage, speaking to the Circus Director.
"Thank you, your highness. It will be an honor." The Circus Director said as he bowed.
"Right. Let's be off." Michiru said and the carriage, as well as the four Shinobi began moving towards the city.
"Welcome to the Crescent Moon Kingdom, nature's playground. Home of surfing, sand, and sun. After a day of fun at our shimmering coral beaches, don't forget to visit our elegant shops and casinos. And stop by for a cool drink at the Crescent Restaurant."
A voice could be heard coming from a speaker as the group headed through the city streets. Though they noticed that there was something strange, there weren't anyone there.
"How strange. These streets are usually bustling. Where did everybody go?" Michiru asked.
"This place is like a ghost town." Sakura said.
As they passed by an alley, someone on the other side of it ran past, not going unnoticed by Kakashi.
The palace
As they approached the palace gates, they opened by themselves, probably being opened by someone inside the palace. The group passed through it and headed into the courtyard where Michiru and Hikaru stepped out of the carriage.
"Not much of a "welcome home"." Michiru said, noting the absence of… pretty much anybody.
Just then, two people came out of the door and walked over to the stone railing between the two staircases leading down to the courtyard. Michiru recognized one of them.
"Ah. Shabadaba."
"Well, well. If it isn't Michiru. Back from your travels? I'm sure you must be exhausted." Shabadaba said. He was a middle-aged man with shoulder-length brown hair with a receding hair-line, and a thick moustache which stretched out to his side-burns. He wore a red sleeve-less shirt over a white baggy shirt, and a pale sash. He also had a ring on each finger.
"You and young Hikaru are well, I hope."
"Yes, thank you, Shabadaba." Michiru said before asking "What's going on in town? Where is everyone? There was no one to meet us." However, Shabadaba didn't respond "Shabadaba…?" Still no answer. Upon noticing something, Michiru looked around before asking "Where is my father? Is something wrong? Why didn't he come?"
Finally Shabadaba responded "The King, I'm afraid, is dead."
After hearing that, Michiru's eyes widened as he said "What?!"
And just then, armed soldiers began bursting out from the door, ran down the stairs, and surrounded the group in no time.
"I rule in the Crescent Moon Kingdom now. Which means there's no need for you anymore, Prince." Shabadaba said before shouting "KILL THEM ALL!"
Elsewhere
Sitting on a cliff looking over the ocean, a person, who had the appearance of a young girl, probably 5-6 years old was looking at the scene that had just transpired through a crystal ball, however, she focused on a certain pink-haired girl.
"So you've come, my sweet little Sakura."

Shikamaru "What's this…?!"…"It's a map of an island. The Crescent Moon Kingdom."
Kana "So, the Crescent Moon Kingdom, huh? Well, don't think that that's gonna stop me!"
Korega "There have been clashes of late between the King and some of his Ministers led by Shabadaba. Each side has different ideas of how they want to lead this land. The King hoped to reason with them, and one day bring them around to his point of view. But meanwhile, Shabadaba took matters into his own hands. He plotted to overthrow the King. By chance, we discovered his plot in time and informed his majesty. He realized the time had come to confront his Ministers."

Sakura "Next time on Naruto: Shinobi Hunters: The Fifth Digi-Destined."
Medusa "It's been a long time, Sakura. My, you sure have grown."

Info: When he was young, Takeda was entranced by the Marines, mainly thanks to the Sora the Sailor comic-strip that was running in the WE Times. When he finally joined the Marines at age 18, however, he began noticing just how corrupt some of the Marines were. When he was a Captain, he and his men found a strange island in the Grand Line where food was literally growing on trees, and on the island, they also found a Devil Fruit, one which Takeda ate. After he became an Admiral, he noticed that even one of the other Admirals at the time was corrupt. One day, he was given a mission from Fleet Admiral Kong to negotiate an alliance with the Samurai, however, the Samurai Emperor, Roronoa Zorro, captured him and imprisoned him for a full ten years. He was later temporarily saved by Naruto before being captured again only for Bakuto to save him. After the Battle of Uzushio, he decided to join Uzushio.
