THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT! IT MEANS SO MUCH TO ME!
Please remember to review at the end! :)
When had any visit turn into a harmless, uneventful visit? That was the question Klaus asked himself as they entered the house that night with Caroline's head bowed, casting tentative glances towards him.
He didn't blame her. He really couldn't. She was harmless and innocent in what transpired.
"Caroline," He called, reaching to place his jacket on the hook, turning to find her back to him. Shaking his head, he walked towards her, and grasped her arm, gently turning her to face him. "Caroline," He spoke, getting her to quickly lift her eyes to his face before bowing her head once more.
He sighed, and reached up to cup her chin, and lifted it to gaze into her eyes. "I'm not mad." He stated, searching her eyes.
"You're not?" She asked, innocently, after a moment.
He smiled, and slowly shook his head. "How could I? Did you plan for that to happen?" He asked, and she shook her head.
"No, but I could have stopped it or…" She trailed off, and he placed his finger on her lips.
"No one could have stopped it, Caroline." He interrupted, gently. "Just be thankful that you weren't hurt."
"Or you," She added, searching his eyes. "Klaus…" She began, touching his face, and he smiled, as he pulled her close.
He smiled even wider over her shoulder and laughed. "I imagine though that the precinct is going to be talking about it for months."
She pulled back and looked at him curiously. "What?" She asked, curiously.
He caressed her face and sighed. "Well, for starters, I don't imagine they will leave me alone now that they've met you." He began, stroking her cheek. "And second, I think that's the first time Stefan brought down a suspect with nothing but luck." He added with a chuckle.
She smiled. "Well, he was so kind about everything…" She began, and he nodded.
"He was." He returned, letting his mind wander. "He sure was."
~A Few Hours Earlier~
Caroline took a deep breath and stilled her beating heart. She was nervous. Yes, that was a good word. She was definitely nervous. This was the first time in a month that she was actually going to step foot inside her master's work.
Clutching the thing called a purse, she walked through the doors, and quickly let her eyes scan the crowded room.
"Can I help you, ma'am?"
She smiled at the gentleman who was standing at the desk, wearing a dark-colored uniform. "Oh, I'm looking for my ma…Klaus." She corrected, remembering that she was not to call him master outside the house.
"Klaus…?" The man asked, in disbelief. "Detective Mikaelson?" He asked, trying to get confirmation.
Caroline smiled. "Yes, I'm meeting him for lunch." She answered, with confidence.
His eyes widened, and looked her up and down, trying to assess her. "You must the lady of the week." He muttered, and Caroline's eyes flashed.
"Excuse me?" She asked, her temper starting to flare.
"Caroline!"
She calmed at the sound of his voice, and she turned to find him approaching her. "Klaus." She returned, reaching up to hug him before placing her lips on his in a passionate, yet short kiss.
Klaus, who had seen her enter, was thankful that the young officer didn't clarify his previous statement. For he knew all too well, Caroline's temper, and it was one that the precinct was not ready for.
He hummed as she pulled back, and licked his lips. "Come on," He whispered, taking her hand, and led her through the crowd of curious eyes towards his desk. "I have a few things to finish up, and then we'll head to lunch." He explained, sitting her down and smiled at her.
Caroline shrugged her shoulders. "No rush, I don't mind waiting." She returned, causing him to smile even more. She leaned back in the chair and felt eyes on her person. Turning her head, she caught the curious gazes of the men and women in the station, looking at her with wide eyes. "Um, Klaus…" She began, listening to him hum before she turned her head to find him concentrating on writing something on the paper in front of him. She bit her bottom lip, and nervously tried to concentrate on something else, but those same eyes continued to focus on her. "Klaus…" She called again, as slowly as before, and finally, Klaus lifted his head.
"What?" He asked, gently, for he had heard the nervous tone of her voice. He glanced around and saw the other cops gazing at him and Caroline, and he smirked. "They are just trying to figure out who you are." He explained, carefully. "This is the first time a woman has actually come by to meet me." He added, holding Caroline's eyes.
Caroline smiled and felt a blush tinged her cheeks. "Oh," She whispered, bowing her head. She let her hand grasp his hands, as Klaus reached forward to squeeze her fingers for a brief moment, before letting them go to continue his work.
She lifted her right leg, and crossed it over the other, letting the summer dress she wore showed off her silky legs, right down to the sandals she wore on her feet. The dress was simple and yet was elegant enough in case they went off somewhere fancy, but she doubted it. She heard a few men gulp and gasp, and she attempted to pull the skirt of her dress down to cover her knees.
"Caroline, what a pleasure to see you."
She lifted her head and smiled as Stefan approached the desk. "Stefan," She returned, standing up to hug him in return, thankful he didn't cringe away from her.
Klaus looked up and smiled at the interaction. Earlier that morning, he and Stefan had talked about Caroline, and Stefan had informed Klaus how he had thought it over and the fact that Caroline was a genie only made her even more special and right for Klaus, so Stefan had learned to accept the turn in their lives and was willing to keep the secret.
Caroline pulled back and smiled, tenderly. "It's good to see you, Stefan. Klaus said you were tied up with work." She remarked, glancing at Klaus.
Stefan sighed. "Yeah, but I'm okay now." He returned, hoping Caroline understood what he meant and by the look on her face, she did. "So, what are you doing here?" He asked, placing his hands in his pockets.
Caroline shrugged her shoulders. "Klaus and I are going to lunch, as soon as he finishes up his work." She answered, and Stefan smiled.
"Ah," He remarked, glancing down at Klaus. "Klaus, why don't you go ahead? I'm sure Caroline is starving and besides the Captain wouldn't mind if you finish those reports after you return." He added, with a wink towards Caroline.
Klaus chuckled. "Yeah, I bet he would." He conveyed, leaning back in his chair. "The last time I waited on my paperwork, he nearly had a coronary and nearly gave me one too." He remarked, with a sly look towards the Captain's door.
Caroline followed his eyes and wondered who his Captain was.
"Caroline,"
She jerked her head back towards Klaus and saw his head tilt to the side. "Yes," She remarked, softly.
He rolled his eyes, hearing Stefan stifle a laugh. "Don't even think about it. I'm almost done with the paperwork, and then we can have a nice lunch without interference." He ordered, mildly.
She nodded and slowly sat down in her chair. "Okay," She relented, crossing her legs once more.
Stefan shook his head. "Can you just imagine?" He asked his friend with Klaus groaning.
"I try not to," Klaus remarked, shaking his head, before focusing on his work.
Stefan glanced at Caroline and winked with her smiling as she realized what he meant. "Well, I've got things to do at my desk. See you two later." He remarked, walking towards his desk.
Caroline lowered her head, content at the moment. She inhaled deeply and fiddled with the purse in her lap.
"You know, you could have just met me at the restaurant. That way you wouldn't have to wait for me." Klaus remarked, glancing up in between words.
She lifted her head and smiled. "No, I wanted to see where you worked, and you know I don't mind waiting for you." She remarked, tenderly.
He smiled, and she saw the dimples on his face. Oh, those sexy dimples. She could just melt to the floor at the sexiness of the smile. Their eyes caught and together they seemed to forget the world around them.
In that instance, they would have noticed how the station had gotten quiet, and the few cops who had not left for lunch yet were like statues with guns drawn as a man entered the precinct with a bomb strapped to his chest and a detonation switch in his hands.
Klaus broke the moment, and stood up a few seconds after, pulling Caroline to her feet, and pushed her behind him.
"Drop your weapons!" The man shouted, his face contorted nervously.
Caroline gripped Klaus' upper arms nervously. "Klaus…" She whispered, fear leaking through her words. She wanted to use her magic for with a blink she could get rid of the bomb and yet with that thought…
"Don't, Caroline," Klaus whispered, lowering his gun along with the rest of the ten cops in the room.
She heard his urgent cry, and she gripped his upper arms even tighter. Turning at an angle, but keeping his eyes on the perp, he wrapped his arm around her with her right hand placed on his chest.
The man moved his eyes to focus on Klaus and Caroline. His eyes widened at the stance they made, and he nervously pointed to Caroline. "You, come here." He stated, sweat beginning to drip down his face.
Klaus held her tight and shook his head. "You can't have her." He stated, his eyes flashing.
The man lifted his shaking hand and pointed to Caroline. "Come here." He stated once more.
Caroline swallowed and moved a few steps. Klaus pulled her back.
"Let her go or I swear I will blow this place to the ground." The bomber remarked, shakily.
Caroline nodded and touched Klaus' arm. "It's okay." She whispered, moving forward. "What do you want with me?" She asked, moving out of Klaus' reach, hearing him call her name.
The man swallowed as she moved through the five officers towards him. "Just come here," He remarked until she got closer to him, close enough for him to grab her, and pull her towards him.
Caroline inhaled deeply and caught Klaus' eyes. "Why are you doing this?" She asked, finally looking at him.
"Because they didn't save her." He cried in a low whisper.
She turned to look at him and searched his face. "Who?" She asked, gently.
He focused his eyes on hers and she saw the lines across his face. Lines full of worry and sadness. "My wife," He answered, in a cracked voice. "She was killed by a mugger five weeks ago." He continued, with a glare towards the police. "They did nothing." He remarked, and Caroline tilted her head to the side.
"I'm sure they did…" She began, watching from the corner of her eye that Klaus and Stefan were moving around while he was focused on her. She just had to give them time. "You're in pain. I know." She paused, as his tired eyes focused on hers. "I know what it's like to be separated from those you love and miss them so much you wish they were beside you." She continued, holding his gaze. "What was her name?" She asked, carefully.
He inhaled deeply, tears in his eyes. "Alyssa," He whispered, tightening the hold on the detonator. "She was my world." He added, his eyes turning cold.
Caroline noticed the other cops moving a fraction forward. Her instincts told her to blink out of there, but she couldn't leave. She couldn't do that to Klaus. Sensing he was close, she inhaled deeply and…
Blinked
It all happened so fast. Klaus pulled her out of the way, as Stefan managed to grasp the detonator from the bomber's hand, and sighed with relief when it didn't go off.
Caroline wrapped her arms around Klaus, feeling him return the embrace. The other officers handcuffed the man and managed to disarm the bomb or what they thought was a bomb.
"What the…?"
Klaus turned his head at Stefan's words and raised his eyebrows. The bomb was in fact…plastic…like toy plastic…harmless. He moved his eyes to Caroline, who bit her bottom lip.
He shook his head and chuckled before holding her close and kissed her quickly on her temple. "Oh, Caroline…" He whispered as the chaos mellowed down.
Caroline sighed and held onto him. Despite that she used her magic, he wasn't upset. Or for the moment he wasn't. What about when he got home?
"Let's go for that lunch, hmmm." He recommended, pulling back to see her nod.
"Klaus…we have to fill out paperwork and gather statements," Stefan called out before they walked out the door.
Klaus stopped and looked over his shoulder. "We'll be back, Stefan. I got to get Caroline out of here." He remarked, holding her close, feeling her shake against him.
Stefan nodded, and watched them leave, knowing somehow, Caroline had done something, and he wasn't complaining.
At least she wasn't hurt. For God knows what would have happened if she had been. Klaus would have made the hulk seem tame if she had.
And for that, Stefan was grateful.
~Present~
Caroline watched the fire in the fireplace and sighed when hands touched her shoulders and lips touched her head. "Are you sure you're not mad?" She asked, lifting her head back to watch him move around the couch to sit next to her.
"I'm sure." He remarked, scooting close to her, placing his left arm behind her, letting her melt into his side.
"I mean, I did use my magic." She began, and Klaus' right hand stopped her, but cupping her chin, and turning her head to meet his eyes.
"You used it at the right moment when no one would have suspected a thing, and besides you were…" He trailed off, swallowing hard.
She filled in the words and smiled, tenderly. "I knew you were going to save me." She whispered, leaning closer, brushing her lips against his. "My Master, my protector." She whispered against his lips.
Klaus chuckled, and brought her closer to him, opening his mouth to align with hers. He heard her moan and felt his reaction become all too prominent. Shifting to pull her body into his lap, he felt her legs straddle him, and her lips opened and sucked on his.
His hands threaded through her hair, and slowly she pulled back only to have him drag her down again until her back was completely on the couch with him on top of her.
Their lips connected once again, and her legs wrapped around his waist. Oh, the things she wished she knew. She had never experienced this feeling before. The feeling of complete passion and urgency.
His lips moved down her cheek, and she moaned when he caressed her neck with his lips. Her hands gripped his shoulders and she gasped as he found a spot on her neck she never knew was there. "Master…"
The moan of the word turned him on even more, and his hands found their way to push her shirt up just a fraction, to feel the silky skin underneath.
She was in another place and so was he. Her eyes flashed a vibrant color before she closed them, and cried out his name.
He lifted his head and smiled down at her. "Oh, Caroline," He shakily spoke, touching her face.
She smiled and touched his face. "I've never felt this before." She uttered, stroking his scruffy cheek.
He lowered his head and opened his mouth against hers. "I'm glad I was the first." He remarked and smiled as she giggled. "Though, we might need to work on you not levitating the objects when your…" He trailed off, noticing the lamp and a few other objects in the room were floating.
She turned her head and covered her mouth with a laugh. With a quick blink, the objects floated back to their positions. "I'm sorry." She apologized, turning her eyes to his. "I'm new at this." She confessed, and he smiled, tenderly.
"So am I." He remarked, touching her face with a gentleness that made her lift up her head and kiss him, tenderly. He hummed, and slowly sat up, bringing her with him. "Go one day at a time, until you can safely make love without making things levitate, particularly the breakable objects."
Caroline blushed at his words, and her heart skipped a beat when she heard the word love. She grasped his face and kissed him breathless.
He moaned and held her close even after she pulled back. "What…" He began, but she silenced him with a finger to his lips.
"One day at a time." She remarked, breathlessly.
He smiled and kissed her finger before pulling her closer to his side, and together they watched the fire move within the fireplace. Silence surrounded them, and it was a quiet, soothing silence. He inhaled deeply, and let his mind wander back and forth. "You said you were born human…" He began, and her left hand which was resting on his chest stilled for a moment before moving down just a fraction.
"Yes," She answered, and he swallowed.
"Is there a way for you to become human or are you still…?" He trailed off, not sure where he was going with his words.
Caroline sighed and knew the reason behind his words. He wasn't meaning them to be cruel. He wouldn't hurt her, not again, that she knew. "I'm still a woman, just with powers." She explained, moving to sit up, and turned her body to face him with Klaus doing the same. "There is a way for me to be rid of the ties to the Genie world, but I…" She trailed off and gasped as her hands covered her mouth.
She wasn't supposed to say anything. He wasn't supposed to know. "Oh no," She cried, standing up, and tried to run, only to have him call her name, and grasp her arm, stopping her. "Please don't," She cried, shaking her head.
Klaus shook his head, and grasped her hands, gently pulling them down until he was holding them in his. "Caroline…"
She shook her head, and tears filled her eyes. "I'm not supposed to tell you. I'm not supposed to let you know." She cried, tears began to fall down her cheeks.
Klaus felt her pain. Actually, felt it, and pulled her close. "You don't have to if you don't want to. It's okay." He comforted, and she wrapped her arms around his body.
"I want to, but it's forbidden." She choked, holding him with all the strength she had.
He closed his eyes and just held her. "Then don't, don't get into trouble for me, Caroline." He remarked, letting his left-hand caress the back of her head.
She closed her eyes, and just let him hold her. Her heart aching for the truth to be unleashed, but she knew it couldn't be.
She could never tell him. He had to figure it out on his own, and that made her cry even harder.
How could her master figure something out when it was right within his grasp?
Klaus listened to her weep, and his heart ached to quiet them. He hated the pain in her eyes and possibly in her heart. The moments before flashed in his mind. What could possibly be strong enough to break ties to anything?
His eyes closed for a moment and he tightened his hold, feeling her cries lessening. He felt her body go limp in his arms, and gently he picked her up and carried her upstairs to her room.
Laying her down on the bed, he sat next to her. She was beautiful, inside and out. She saved his life and the others today by simply blinking the bomb to be a toy. Brushing his hand over her face, he sighed. He was falling in love with the genie he found on the beach, and he'd be damned if anything was going to take her from him or even cause her pain.
Moving to stand, he heard words that stilled his being.
"I love him…"
Please be kind!
I know that this chapter went a little more emotional than the rest, but I did try to keep as light as I could. I'm working on some more updates for other stories, so be on the lookout!
