Chapter 2

The conversation was quiet at breakfast the following morning. Hiroshi couldn't bring himself to looking at his parents and his parents, in return, were worried about him after his strange behaviour experienced last night. Hiroshi wasn't hungry…his spoon was gently pushing the cereal away and around the bowl that was in front of him. He didn't get any sleep that night…whenever he closed his eyes, he saw the creature watching him from the shadows, unsettling him…preventing him from sleeping. The occasional scutter or scratching under his bed also didn't help. Hiroshi couldn't bring himself to look under the bed when he heard the scratching. He feared that the creature had changed its size to fit under the bed, tormenting him further.

But can it leave the grounds of the mansion?

That thought constantly swam through Hiroshi's mind. It didn't follow him back to town when he escaped, the monster did speed up when he ran out from the mansion, desperate to grab him as he ran. Hiroshi wondered what would have happened if the creature had realised that he could have grabbed his scarf and that would have made Hiroshi its prey. Quickly pushing that thought away, he got up from the table. "I'm not hungry…" He simply said before leaving the table. His parents watched him leave but didn't say anything…they couldn't say anything. Neither of them knew what the hell was going on with their son. They were still waiting for Hiroshi to come and talk to them…they didn't want to pry on what he wasn't comfortable telling them.

Hiroshi returned to his room and upon shutting the door…leant against the door. Letting his body slide down until he was sitting on the floor. He knew that he had to get ready for school, but he didn't feel the drive to go to school, not since what happened last night. His mind had been pulling tricks on him, playing on the fears that occupied his mind. Hiroshi wanted to refuse them and just carry on like normal…but he couldn't tell anyone what happened inside the mansion otherwise he'll be doing the monster a favour. If anything, if the person was smart then they had a chance of escaping the mansion but…Hiroshi was the smartest in the class, he didn't have high hopes for others. If he struggled with some puzzles in the mansion…he didn't want to think of what would have happened if anyone else tried to escape the mansion.

"Maybe…I should…go back…" Hiroshi started to say before he heard a voice in the back of his head.

"No, we're not going back! That creature is still there! Why would you even think about going back!?" His mind screamed back at him. Hiroshi could already feel a headache starting to form in his mind. Whenever his mind flat out rejected something it always resulted in Hiroshi feeling a headache forming. He couldn't even remember what he thought or said to make his mind violently reject it. Sighing, he rubbed his temples to try and sooth his headache. He still had to go to school…he got up and got himself ready for school.

Under the bed, a large blue cockroach watched Hiroshi. Knowing what to do, the cockroach forced itself to shrink its size down. It watched Hiroshi get himself ready for school…while he wasn't looking, the cockroach slipped into Hiroshi's bag. It had its mission and it wasn't going to fail the mission. Hiroshi picked up his bag and headed off to school.

Strings of Blue Fate – Ao Oni – Chapter 2

Hiroshi walked to school in silence, he never really talked to anyone in his class. They were in their own conversations or talking about the rumour…nothing that interested Hiroshi. Often, Hiroshi just stuck his nose in a book or just distracted himself by writing complicated equations in his book. Everyone had noticed a chance in him since Takuro and the rest of his friends went missing. He still kept his grades rather high, but he no longer questioned the teachers like he used to. Little quirks that Hiroshi had that the class saw stopped occurring. Hiroshi sat, and half listened to the teacher explain about how insects use pheromones to communicate to each other. While it was interesting, he already knew that insects could do that. Takuro had called him a 'bug maniac' which Hiroshi silently agreed fitted his interests.

"Come…back…" The wind whispered to him again. Hiroshi shuddered before the pull to return to the mansion. Maybe it would be okay if he just walked past the mansion rather than go into mansion. If it settled down the constant pulling he felt when the whisper told him to return…he'd risk going towards the mansion. He wouldn't enter the grounds, that was just asking for suicide. Mentally slapping himself, Hiroshi tried to focus back onto the lesson he was currently sitting in.

In his bag, the blue small cockroach watched Hiroshi while he worked. The giant eye on its back was fixed on Hiroshi…

Strings of Blue Fate – Ao Oni – Chapter 2

The cockroach crawled out from under Hiroshi's bed and started looking around the room. It scuttered around the room, antenna twitching as the eye on its back whizzed around the room, taking in everything. Books were stacked high on bookshelves. It couldn't read so the titles remain a mystery to the cockroach continued to look around. It was gathering information on Hiroshi, information that the master on the mansion could use. The cockroach scuttered around more before it detected a faint scent. Scuttering over to the scent, it noticed that there was a small bowl of apples in his room. It could only guess that his favourite food was apples, something for its master to use. Hearing something move, the cockroach scuttered back under the bed. It had already released pheromones all around the room, hopefully the plan can progress further. The cockroach vanished under the bed while it waited for its tiny cockroach buddy to come back with Hiroshi.
