The family enjoyed their vacation in Vermont. There was no press so they felt free. Olivia was able to enjoy her dream home that her husband had built for her.
Now that they had a baby on the way she wanted to make some small changes to make their home more baby proof which Fitz agreed with.
Her team who was also their family came down to spend some time with the family. Abby had already seen it, but it was different with the family there. What she saw the first time around was a house. Now she walked into a home, and to see how happy her best friend was spoke volumes.
The new year came quicker than they would have liked. It was time to head back into the real world.
Olivia had several speaking engagements coming up now that she was fully healed from surgery, and her pregnancy was going great.
Now that she was in the second trimester of her pregnancy she was horny all of the time. She wanted her husband every minute, of every second, of every day. She was lucky because even when Fitz came home at night dead tired he made sure to take care of her.
It was the end of January and Fitz had been going non-stop since he delivered his State of the Union address. He was also dealing with a terrorist cell that was killing Americans. Fitz was frustrated because he felt like he wasn't doing enough. He knew that as President he would have to make the tough call at times, and lives would be lost. This felt so different.
His savings grace was his family especially his wife. Unlike Mellie Fitz was able to go home and know that he had a supportive wife waiting. There was no hidden agenda with her. If he wanted to talk and get her opinion she was fine with that, but if he came in and wanted to talk about the sky being blue then that is what they talked about.
As he headed towards the Residence he was dead tired. Today he spent the whole day working on immigration reform and working to make college education more affordable across the board.
He just wanted his bed right now. Abby made sure that his schedule was clear until one the next day since he had been going for almost 36 hours straight.
He checked on the kids who were working on papers. He felt like he hadn't seen them in days. He promised them he wouldn't disappear on them.
Karen smiled at her dad, "We are fine daddy. We know your hands are full, and it's not like we haven't seen you at all. Jerry & I have made sure that mom is taken care of, and she has taken great care of her children."
Fitz laughed, "I need you to stop being like your mom and reading my mind. One Olivia Grant is enough."
Jerry laughed, "True, but seriously we are all fine. You look really tired dad. You need some rest. Mom ordered you some dinner and I left it in the oven. Mom's feet were swelling so I had her to go lay down early so she should be in bed."
Fitz hugged his kids and thanked them. He let them know he appreciated how responsible they were.
He headed back to their bedroom. He walked in and found that Olivia was in bed and she was sleep.
He walked into the bathroom to take a shower when he heard Olivia moan. He stopped because he thought he was hearing things, but she moaned again and she kept saying "Fitz I need you baby."
He turned around and it was clear that she was having an erotic dream about the two of them. As tired as he was he knew he had to take care of his wife. Lately she had been the one who was insatiable. He didn't remember this period with Mellie, but that was because she was getting taken care of by other men.
Fitz walked over to the bed. Olivia's had spread her legs. She was now fingering herself and for a second Fitz watched. That didn't last long because she was moaning his name, and he needed to taste his wife.
He decided to use his tongue while she used her fingers. He started off slow but even in her sleep they were in sync. Olivia was riding her fingers and his tongue. Fitz wanted more so he pulled her fingers out and inserted two of his.
Olivia was riding him and her moans turned him on even more.
Olivia was dreaming that her husband had come up from the office to take care of her. He found her fingering herself, and he came in and took over. Olivia kept chasing the high. She wanted to cum, and the dream felt so real.
Olivia was bucking her hips trying to make it happen, but the pain and the pleasure was too real and too much.
Olivia opened her eyes and she looked down to find her husband between her legs. It felt like he was eating her out of house and home. Before Olivia could say anything she felt him add a third finger, and Olivia growled.
"FUCK Fitz too much baby. I can't take it. I'm about to cum. Please baby Please Oh Fuck what are you doing to me."
Fitz gave her a wicked grin, "Taking care of my wife. Cum baby. Let go daddy got you"
Olivia let go and she felt it from head to toe. For a moment she forgot where she was. Fitz enjoyed every second of it. He sucked her dry and wasted nothing.
It took Olivia a moment to get her bearings. She looked at her husband and smiled. Her dream turned into a reality. The other reality is she could see how tired he really was.
Fitz stood up, "I had to take care of you. I heard you dreaming and there is no need for you to dream when the real thing is right here."
Olivia smiled, "Thank you but baby you need some rest. I can see it in your face. I should be taking care of you."
"You are baby. Being here with you is enough. I feel like I'm so far away from you guys lately, and I don't want to let anyone down."
"No one is being let down honey. As your wife I'm telling you I'm fine other than some swelling that went down with rest. The kids are great. We know there will be times when you are not available. I don't feel abandoned because I know when you are in the Oval you are working and not avoiding me. This is an important time for you baby. I knew who I married just like you know me."
"I mean deep down I know. I just don't want to mess us up. Not our marriage or our family. You matter to me. I want to create change, but not at the expense of my family."
"Good thing that you are not. Your approval rating are at 90%. Not only in the United States but the world feels that you are an effective leader. You survived and have come back better than ever. You asked me when we were on the trail if I had your vote. I told you that you had to earn it. Well not only did you earn my vote, but my heart. Don't stress baby. It is not good. You'll get a migraine and you hate those. You know I would tell you if there was a problem, and Abby works hard to try to give you a break after working long periods."
"Okay. Can we take a bath together? My muscles are aching and I want to rub your feet. I want to be close to you and Ayden."
"I think that is a good idea because Ayden misses his talks with daddy. I can tell he is going to follow you everywhere. We are definitely going to have more. A girl for Karen & I."
Fitz looked at her, "Really, I mean I always said I wanted three kids with you, but when Ayden is born we will have three."
Olivia nodded, "Yes we will have three children total, but I know I want at least one more with you. Then from there we can discuss if we want a third."
Fitz smiled, "Thank you"
"For what honey"
"For being my wife. Being my partner and standing beside me and supporting me. It is nice to be really happy. It is why I can do this job. Without you I would have died. I remember this one time that I guess was after I made it out of surgery. My body felt so heavy..."
"Fitz..."
"Please let me tell you this."
"Okay"
"I was so ready to give up. My body felt heavy. In the operating room I kept hearing voices and at one point I felt like the voices were fading, and then I heard your voice. I couldn't make out anything but then I heard I'm here. All of a sudden my body didn't feel so heavy. Then that night in the room I felt that heavy feeling again, and then I heard you talking to Kimberly Mitchell. I knew that you were there and not just out of obligation. I knew if I lived I would have a chance to make it right. I can't waste this second chance at life. I can't waste the opportunity to have a life with you. I don't mean to hover or worry you.I just remember those moments."
Olivia had listened to what he said. Shocked wasn't the appropriate word. It was an eye-opening moment to hear how he felt and what he was thinking during that time in his life. They didn't talk about this as much.
Olivia decided to wait until they got in the tub before she responded. Once they got comfortable, and Fitz calmed Ayden down by rubbing her belly she responded to him.
Olivia began, "We never talk about that time a lot. It was a dark time for the both of us. For me it was crushing. I pushed and pushed and you finally gave me what I wanted, and I immediately knew that I didn't want it. I wanted you, but I never believed I was worthy enough that you would fight for me like you said you would. Even with me out of the picture you fought for me. I can't describe watching you. It's too much."
She began to shake uncontrollably. Fitz told it was fine, and they could talk about something else. Hearing him cater to her made her push through. She needed to do this. She knew she could talk to him about anything.
Olivia shook her head. "No I need to tell you. I want to be open and honest with you. It was like I felt the bullets. I can't explain it. My body hurt. If it wasn't for the kids I would have fallen apart, but I knew Mellie wasn't going to be there for them. Despite where we were at the moment I would never have allowed any harm to come to your kids. I love you. I was in love with you, and in that moment I didn't care about the optics. I only cared about my family and that was you and the kids. They were so scared Fitz. They were lost and so was I, but I knew if we stuck together you had a chance. I lost it with Mellie. I was the angry black woman you see on TV that is acting a fool. Not a hint of professionalism. I threatened her and meant it. I was going to wait for you, but when Andrew told me about the divorce I was happy for about 30 seconds. I became this person who has never really left. I had to protect my kids and my man's legacy. It wasn't about you surviving to fulfill your term. It was about the public knowing what a good and honorable man you were. It was about showing them that you had a powerful administration that could keep the country running. I only survived because I could be with you. I could touch you. I knew you were mine. I had the control not Mellie. The fact that you trusted me with the kids changed me. I never wanted to be the old Olivia Pope. I wanted to see the real world. Not just the world through optics. There is not a moment that I'm not glad that you got to remain President, but to actually live the dream I heard you talk about so many times has been a joy. I was scared of motherhood. My mother died and my father sent me away like I was the problem. I never thought I could be a good wife and a good mother, but I am because of you. I can't wait for Ayden to meet you."
Fitz was speechless. Olivia wasn't the type of woman who wore her heart on her sleeve. It had taken a lot of time and patience to really get to know the real Olivia. Since he got shot she was a lot more open with him, but tonight was the first time that he could recall that she was completely vulnerable with him. She pushed through despite how emotional draining it was. She told him her deepest fears, but her biggest joys. It was all that he ever wanted.
He said, "You know what we are doing tonight is all I ever wanted. I think you expected me to want a different version of you if we got together. I understand why, but it use to frustrate me. I wanted you to know that you were enough for me."
"Part of me always knew that, but part of me couldn't accept that. My life changed when I was 12. My father was twisted. I got why he pushed me. Why he told me that I always had to be twice as good. I was a woman and I was black. Enough said, but you want to drill that in me while you send me away and keep me at arm's length. I got the best education that money could buy. I got to see the world, but I was on my own. I was alone and I had to figure everything out. I had to depend on myself. Which in many ways it helped me to survive life, but it hurt me because I didn't trust anyone completely until you came along."
"I could tell that I frustrated you because I wouldn't go away. It was funny because it was that angry black woman attitude that I loved the most, but you thought it would make me run."
Olivia laughed, "Most men despite their race run when a woman gets angry. You my dear are special."
Fitz laughed, "Yeah, but I knew why you were doing it, and I wasn't going to give you the satisfaction of saying I was like everyone else. I was never a person who saw color when I dealt with people, but especially with you. I just saw this smart, funny, kind, down to earth woman who had my heart. It's nice to talk to you like this. It feels good to know that you trust me even when you are vulnerable."
Olivia leaned back, "I always trusted you. If anything I didn't trust myself. I had to get out of my own head. I had to get over my daddy issues. I knew I could come to you with anything, but I also knew the moment I did that I would never be able to walk away from you. Now I'm not scared. I know that with you I'm safe, and that is enough for me."
Fitz said, "Good do you ever think about your father? Do you wonder where he is and what he is doing?"
Olivia shrugged, "I use to. The last information that I had was that he was in D.C. and my gut tells me that he is still here. More than likely he is lurking in the background, but that is where I want him to stay. I can't go there with him. I forgive him. When I married you I forgave him, because I couldn't let him ruin the best thing that has ever happened to me."
Fitz understood. They washed each other and enjoyed spending quality time together until the water got cold.
Fitz helped Olivia put lotion on her body and he rubbed coco butter on her stomach, and talked to Ayden.
Olivia could only smile because Ayden loved the sound of his daddy's voice. He could be kicking up a storm, but with Fitz he would calm down.
Even more exciting was the bond that she felt that Ayden would have with Karen and Jerry. When he heard them he got excited. He would kick. It was like he wanted their attention, and they gave it to him. Olivia was concerned at first. She didn't know if they were truly happy, but once the baby kicked it became real for them. She took Karen with her to a check up and she got to see Ayden on the ultrasound. She talked about it so much that Olivia went back and had another done so Jerry could enjoy the experience.
It was February which of course is Black History Month. Fitz would participate in events, but he had never done any major events. He wanted to change that. He wanted the world to have an open honest discussion about race relations even if a few jabs were thrown his way.
Fitz had received a call at the beginning of the month in regards to his wife, and he could not have been happier if he tried. He decided to arrange a surprise for her.
Fitz & Olivia were traveling in February so they had decided to put off celebrating Valentine's Day. They would do something big for their anniversary.
Olivia had spent the last month and a half working on the event that was taking place on Valentine's Day. Sure it was a day of love, but she wanted that love to transcend the world.
Unfortunately Fitz was out of the country, but he had sent her flowers and purchased a diamond necklace for her to wear today. As always he had written her a personal message that gave her the confidence to get through today.
The day started out with a prayer breakfast led by the Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev Jessie Jackson.
At one in the afternoon the program started. Olivia called it, "A Day of Love Across the World".She had been tweeting different quotes and messages of love. She also added pictures of people of all ages, race, and creed.
She asked people to do the same using the hash tag LoveofAllColor
Olivia had invited an array of people to the celebration. Her goal was to show that success comes in all shapes, sizes, and ages.
As she was waiting to be called she looked out at the crowd. She noticed Kerry Washington and her family, Beyoncé & Jay-Z with their daughter, La La Anthony and her family, Michael Jordan, Bill & Melinda Gates and that was just in front of the row.
She was expecting Jerry to introduce her when she heard a familiar voice. It sounded like her husband but he was supposed to be in China.
She walked around the corner and there was her husband in the flesh standing at the podium. What was going on.
Fitz walked up to the podium to a standing ovation. Once everyone calmed down he spoke.
Fitz said, "You know when I look out at this crowd it makes me proud to be an American. It makes me proud to be the President of the greatest country on this earth. Some say that I am the most powerful man in the world. I guess to some degree that may be true. What you don't know is that the only reason that I survived my assassination attempt and came back a better President is because of the woman who put this event together."
Cheers roared all over the park...
Fitz continued, "I have always believed in equality. I feel that success should only be based on how hard you work, and how much effort you put into making that happen. I'm not naïve. When my wife joined my campaign I realized how far we had come as a nation, but how much more work needed to be done. Simply thing like my wife having to do her hair and wear clothes so that she can command respect where I could walk in with a paper bag and no one would care. Today on Valentine's Day it is the perfect day to not just showcase love, but open up an honest conversation about race and equality. It is a perfect day to show the world that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did not die in vain. That it should not matter what the color of your skin is, or how much money you make, or what your sexual orientation is. Those are things we have no control over. My wife should not be considered any less black because she fell in love with a white man."
Cheers roared again all over the park...
Fitz continued, "When I look at my wife. I just see Livvie. A woman who has been my ride or die chick, the mother of my children, my best friend, and partner in life. Now it is time that the rest of the world thinks that way about everyone. I flew in from China because I wanted to set an example that all people matter. I wanted to support my wife as she began to work on race relations, equality for women, and shining a light on bullying. We should all just love one another. I received a call the beginning of the month, and think that the best way to introduce the First Lady of the United States is by introducing to you this year Time's Magazine Woman of the Year. Please welcome to the stage the First Lady of the United States and my best friend Olivia Grant."
The applause was loud and the crowed roared as Olivia stepped on stage. She literally jogged over to her husband. She missed him and she didn't care about the optics. They hugged and shared several sweet kisses before they separated.
Olivia made it to the podium. It was several more minutes before the crowd died down.
Olivia smiled and began speaking, "Thank you so much. Wow that is a huge honor, and a nice way to find out. It is really great seeing everyone here today. When I look at you I look at America. A melting pot of men, women, and children of all ages, creeds, and nationality. I decided to put this event together when I heard a reporter question who I was, because I married President Grant. The statement bothered me. Not because she was questioning me, but because of what she insuinuated. I chose to marry the man who I'm in love with, and I'm offended at the notion that some people believe that makes me less black. In 1980 3.2 percent of marriages were interracial and today it is up to 8.4 percent. 13.2 percent of this country is made of African-Americans, 17 percent are Hispanics, and Latinos. With the landscape of our country changing you would think our mindset would change, and it has but not enough."
The crowd claps.
Olivia continued, "We needed to become opened minded. I brought in some guests today because it bothered me that they had been discriminated."
A gentleman walked on stage.
Olivia said, "This is Mr. Darius Rucker. He is a black country artist. He is also the front man for Hootie & the Blowfish. Country music is a genre that is mostly made up of Caucasian artists. I was shocked to read about a tweet he received when he release a single. He was told to leave the country to white folk. He was singled out because he was a black country music singer in a white dominated world. Instead of lifting him up for following his dreams we tore him down."
The crowd clapped as the next person walked on stage." For those of you that don't know who she is please welcome Amethyst Amelia Kelly AKA Iggy Azalea. She is a rap artist. Rap is dominated by mostly African-Americans so it seems that some think that Iggy doesn't belong. She doesn't get the black culture. She doesn't understand our fight. African-Americans are often discriminated. So I find it really sad that we are doing the same thing to this young woman that we have dealt with for centuries. To me it is like calling the pot and the kettle black. The same way we don't want a white person to use the word nigger, but as blacks we think it is okay to use that word to describe each other. It is a bad word period, point-blank. Instead of tearing her down we should uplift her, and respect the fact that she thinks this genre is the best. The fact that she has a mentor like TI grooming and supporting her. That artist like Jennifer Hudson can go in and make great music for us to hear. By the way if you hadn't heard Trouble you are missing out."
The audience laughs.
Olivia said, "Listen I'm not that old. I have two teenagers and I have a secret. Your President loves all types of music. Jay-Z, watch out I came home one day to find him rapping your lyrics."
The audience laughed
Three young children walked out on stage.
Olivia got serious again, "Please welcome to the stage Christian, Amelia, and Tanya."
The audience claps.
Olivia said, "Christian is a white student that goes to a predominately black school. Amelia & Tanya who are Hispanic & Black go to predominately white schools. These children have been called all kinds of names, they have been hit, and they have been treated horribly because of the color of their skin. It is a sad time when in school we don't teach our children to love one another. No one has control over the color of their skin so we should all ponder why we treat each other the way we do."
"We are fortunate. We live in a country that has a democracy. We have choices. As a woman of color I can work wherever I want. I can choose my husband. I can be my own woman. Every country does not allow that to happen. We have got to learn to take care of each other. Each person has something to bring to the table. There is nothing wrong with being different. You are enough. When I look at all of you I don't see color. I see men, women, boys, and girls who have a wide array of talents. I see a group of people who have so much to offer to the world. We have to start using our words to bring change. We have to support our black men. Stop labeling every black man a dead beat daddy. Every black woman who has a child is not just a baby mama. A white woman who wears a short skirt is not automatically a hooker. There is nothing wrong with a person who is a gay or a lesbian. We are all human. We have hearts and feelings and want to be loved. If someone is in love with someone of the same sex that does not make them a freak. That reporter was right when she questioned who I was or had I changed because of who I married. I became a better woman because I found someone who loves and respects me for me. A man who has never been afraid of change, and that gives me the courage I need to fight for what is right. Fitz never asked me to change. He always demanded that I be who I was. He is the first one to tell people that I am smarter than him. He embraces our daughter to find her voice. To never take a back seat. We all need to do that. Dr. King and all those who fought for change would want to see that."
The crowd cheered.
Olivia continued, "In closing I want to say that today is a new beginning. I don't want it to end. I have formed a committee that I will chair that will bring awareness to race relations, equal rights, and bullying. The theme will be "A Voice for Change. On the committee will be both of our children Jerry & Karen Grant, actress Kerry Washington, singer and songwriter Beyoncé Knowles, actress Emma Watson, actress Laverne Cox, blogger Perez Hilton, event planner David Tutera, actress Sophia Vargas, and actor, director, and producer Tyler Perry."
Everyone cheered as the pictures popped up on the screen.
Olivia said, "This is not about black and white. This is about showing the world that no matter who or what you are you are enough. In addition I will be selecting five more members, but they will be everyday citizens. You will have to submit a short video and essay on what you are doing to make this country a better place. All of the instructions are available on the White House page. Take the time to talk to one another and love one another. We are all in this together. Thank you."
The crowd was on their feet. It was overwhelming for Olivia to see. Fitz and the kids came out with roses and lilies for her which made the crowd cheer even more.
The family made it down and they spent some time talking with people and taking pictures. Olivia was tired. They were having a Valentine's Ball at the White House with Jennifer Hudson, Adam Levine, Tamar Braxton, and Megan Trannor performing.
When they made it to the limo Fitz & the kids could not contain their excitement. They were so proud of Olivia. They knew she was nervous, but they had supported her from the moment she brought it up. Olivia didn't want to ruin Fitz's chance for re-election. Fitz told her that this administration had an opportunity to do something big. President Obama & Michelle had already created change as the first black President & First Lady, and now they were the first interracial couple. He reminded her that she was not ornamental, and she needed to use her voice.
Karen said, "Mom they are reporting that there have been more than a 125 million tweets using your hashtag."
Jerry said, "CNN is reporting many Facebook users are changing their profile to a picture of you that says "Woman of the Year."
Olivia was in shock. She never expected her event to be this big and make such an impact.
When they got back to the Residence Quinn & Abby were waiting on them. They were smiling.
Olivia asked, "What's up guys?"
Quinn said, "The phones have been ringing off the hook. Every major publication wants you on the cover. Several organizations have already called to say that they are backing your campaign. Many are wanting to honor you. The event is on every major news channel, and they are praising you for having the courage to open up the dialogue."
Olivia was surprised but cautious, "What about Fitz? Is this hurting him or helping his chance for reelection?"
Abby smiled, "If the election was tomorrow he is a shoe-in. He has a great shot. He is receiving support from the NAACP and from the Lesbian & Gay Community. Even more than that his numbers from young voters have increased. Having a young beautiful wife is great, but young people love that the President knows Jay-Z lyrics. They feel like he is in tune with them. Also seeing Karen & Jerry is making a difference. Family is important so to see you guys on stage together and knowing the kids are helping you has gone over extremely well. The celebrities including Kerry Washington are supporting you. She has always used her voice for change. This decision has created a door for change which is great, but it has already given you one foot in the door to re-election. The main reason is that people believe you guys are open and honest. You are not afraid to tackle the tough issues. They consider you to be the man and woman of the people."
Olivia sat down in shock. She never imagined this happening. It was what she wanted, but she never thought her voice meant that much.
Everyone could tell that Olivia was overwhelmed. Fitz gave them a look and they smiled and left.
Fitz picked up Olivia and she clung to him. He took her to their bedroom. He took off her shoes and dress and put one of his Navy t-shirts on.
He called and ordered some lunch. Once it was brought up he let her eat while he changed clothes.
Once she was done Fitz moved their plates. Fitz pulled her close to him and she snuggled as close to him as possible.
Fitz finally spoke, "I know that this is a shock for you. Your voice has always been heard through other people, but you are so much more than that Livvie. You have run campaigns, slayed dragons, and brought grown men to their knees. Your voice matters. You have created changed, but people didn't know it was you. It was you that turned things around and allowed me to become President. Now it is time for you to get the credit. I am so proud of you baby. The world became a little bit better because of you. You were scared that being First Lady would change you. In a way it has you now have a bigger platform and as your husband I expect you to use it. It is not about me. If I reap benefits fine, but what I want is for the world to really appreciate what you have to offer and they do. Remember the kids and I are your biggest fans. Those kids are proud of their mom. They have never been happier to be politician kids than they are now, because you respect them. They get to make a difference. They are more than a photo-op. I love you sweet baby. That is why I made sure I was here today, because you have supported me every step of the way. Now it is my turn."
Olivia sat up and looked at her husband, "I was so scared. I felt like a fish out of water at first. You know me I'm behind the scenes, but I wanted to make you proud. Then when I saw you at the podium in the flesh. The fact you came just calmed me. I love being a crisis manager. It is nothing like being there on the worst day of people's lives, but today was a thrill I can't explain. My voice allowed other voices to be heard. We have a chance to do something good. We have to win. We need four more years. We can do it. The kids are happy. We are learning to find a balance with our personal and professional lives. I know you worry about us, but I promise you we are okay. I want you to finish what you started. Let's leave a legacy so that our children have a better chance of living in a world that is truly equal and free."
Fitz smiled, "If that is what you want and you and the kids are okay then I will be happy to run for re-election."
Olivia smiled, "We are great. The kids love school. Both of the kids would be in college by the time we finish our second term. We have our home here and in Vermont. I would prefer to raise the kids in Vermont after we leave the White House."
Fitz kissed her forehead, "Can you and the family handle running the campaign? I don't want to bring someone new in unless you feel it's necessary."
Olivia shook her head, "Yes we will run everything. No new people needed."
Fitz said, "Okay I will send the paperwork in. Take a nap baby so you can enjoy tonight."
Later on that evening the couple attended the Valentine's Ball. Olivia planned to do this every year even after they left office. In the future the ball would be used to raise money for their foundation to continue to support Olivia's cause.
This was Olivia's first event as First Lady with all of the biggest celebrities, politicians, and philanthropists in one room. Olivia knew that many of them were democrats or supported the democratic party. She wasn't sure when she sent the invites out what kind of response she would get. She was happy to know and see that many of them came. The President & First Lady were able to show them that although they were Republicans they would fight for what was right.
Jay-Z put Fitz to the test and the rapper was impressed that the President did know his songs, but when he was spit some Tupac and Dr. Dre he officially got the support of Beyoncé & Jay-Z that night.
The couple spent time talking with Kerry Washington who was well versed in politics, and not because of her job but as a citizen. Fitz was impressed with the conversation. Kerry was an intelligent woman, and although she was a brilliant actress it was clear this woman could handle her own in the corporate world as well.
Fitz & Olivia had the guests bring their children with them if they wanted. Most of them were teenagers. They surprised the teenagers with a separate tent which was a ball catered to the teens. There was a D.J. and they arranged for Ciara, Justin Bieber, Iggy, and Demi Lovato to perform for them.
It was an evening of good fun, lots of food, and great conversation. Kimberly Mitchell and Anderson Cooper were allowed to record and do a news piece about the ball.
Both reporters had been speaking with guests throughout the night. It was clear that the administration was different with the President & the new First Lady. The couple was willing to tackle the difficult topics but with class. Everyone respected Olivia. She knew how to balance her responsibilities as the First Lady, wife, and mother. Although she was one of the most powerful women in the world she made sure that she never outshined her husband.
Many celebrities left stating that they absolutely would support this administration, and would do their part to make sure President Grant was elected to another term.
Everyone was looking forward to the birth of America's baby. Olivia looked radiant in an Emerald Silk Maternity Evening Gown from the Seraphine LUXE collection. The gown looked and felt as good as many of the others she wore in the past, but the difference was this gown was under $500.00. Olivia was trying to wear more affordable pieces so they could see you could still be fashionable on a budget.
From beginning to end the day had been a success. Harrison & Quinn would monitor the news after Anderson & Kimberly did their segment, but it was clear that Olivia gave them a free boost. The world got a good look at their new First Lady, they were able to seeing a functional and happy President, and a happy family. Most of all they were able to see their boss, their sister and brother, and their friend happy. They had all saved people working for Olivia, but today felt like their biggest win. If people knew who and where Olivia's team came from it would be easy for them to know that she has always been about change and giving everyone a fair shake. It was great that the world was able to see this side of her, and the fact that Fitz was her biggest cheerleader spoke volumes.
A/N-The statistics that I discussed in this chapter were real. Obviously the celebrities I discussed are real and the issues that Olivia talked about really happened to them. Before someone comes at me sideways I want to be clear these are my views and opinions. I respect that everyone does not feel the same way. The language about race was colorful because I used the "N" word again, but I needed to do that to drive my point home. Thank you again for your love and support. Sorry for any errors that I miss. More updates to come.
