Far away beyond the land of Ooo, two people were flying together. One was wearing an oversized sombrero with a red shirt and jeans while the other was wearing a crown and a blue robe.

"Thanks for taking me out on this field trip," Ice King said.

"Yeah, don't mention it," Marceline replied.

"It's nice flying around every once in a while. Sometimes I just need a break from staying in the house all day."

"That makes two of us."

Ice King furrowed his brows, "Gunther's probably going to make a huge mess while I'm gone. That guy just loves to break stuff."

The vampire reassured, "Nah, it wouldn't feel the same unless you were there. I'm sure the place will be fine just the way you left it."

He shrugged, "Maybe. So, where are we going?"

Marcy replied offhandedly, "Anywhere, I guess. I thought it'd be rad if I showed you the world. Who knows, we might even find someone special for you along the way." She let out a grin.

He waved a hand, "Please, none of the princesses like me. I doubt anyone else would too."

She paused in midflight and eyed him directly, "Don't say that. We just need to work on your people skills that's all. Besides, we're going off in places we haven't been before. Anything could happen!"

"Alright, I'll take your word for it."

As they continued flying, Marcy pulled out her phone and texted, "We'll be on our way in 10-15 minutes."

"Ok," Betty replied. "I'll have dinner ready once you get here. See you then."

A slight breeze became apparent during the flight, but luckily there was no turbulence. The travelers passed through a few clouds and over several mountains until there was nothing but patches of landscape.

"There it is," Marcy exclaimed.

Ice King looked downward left and right, "Where? I don't see anything."

She pointed at certain direction until his gaze followed, "We'll land at that campsite down there."

They decreased their altitude until they saw a figure waving at them with both arms. Recognizing the person, Marceline descended faster until she and Ice King reached the ground.

"Hello Marcy and.. Ice King," Betty greeted awkwardly at the last part. "Glad you two could make it."

"Your majesty," Major Maddox called outside the tent. "I have urgent news!"

Phoebe and her brother quickly walked through the flaps to meet him.

"Our scouts report the Candy Kingdom's fortifying additional defenses in the outskirts. If we're going to attack, now would be a good time!"

Phoebe frowned in acknowledgement, "I understand, ready the troops and wait for my call. There's something I gotta do first."

The major bowed, "Yes, my liege." He ran off further into the base moments later.

"It's now or never, sister," the Supreme General said.

With that, Phoebe promptly pulled out her phone and dialed Princess Bubblegum's number. The phone rang for an agonizing minute until PB finally answered.

"Bonnibel," the fire elemental began. "As ruler of the Fire Kingdom, I have ordered my men to stand down in a last-minute effort to negotiate. I wish to end this war now on a peaceful accord without having the need to use further violence."

"Oh? And just what terms do you propose," PB asked skeptically.

"I am requesting you would order your troops to stand down and turn yourself in. You have my word you and your people will not be harmed and that I will personally guarantee your safety and theirs."

"I don't see that happening," she said undoubtedly.

Phoebe remained patient, "Look, I have no intentions of taking your life. The fact of the matter is that it won't bring back the people we've lost. If it also makes you feel better, we'll even conduct the truce on neutral territory as an act of good faith. Think about it, Bonnibel. We are two rulers who work hard to put our citizens first before anything. I'm sure you can understand I just want the fighting to stop. Everything I've done in my power has been honest and true. There are no strings attached as to what I say and there is no deception beneath my actions."

"Yes, there is credibility in that fact no doubt. However..."

Phoebe withheld a disappointed sigh.

PB continued, "We are two superpowers in this world that cannot possibly hope to coexist. We share too many differences on the ultimate goal of success that we'll just be holding each other back."

Phoebe threw a fist down, "I'm TRYING to change that! All I ask of you is to turn yourself in so that you can reform for your mistakes. And no, that does not mean you'll be executed or imprisoned, nor will your people be enslaved."

PB placed a hand over her chin, "Sooner or later, someone will try to take my life. Whether it'd be your brother or some other extremist. I cannot expect your people to see the reasoning behind your 'noble' intentions as a whole. Therefore, this fight will continue."

"That was the same insecurity that lead to my father's downfall! I don't want either of us to settle a dispute at the expense of our military forces. This could end now, without swords! Don't you see that?!"

"The only way our kingdoms could ever achieve ultimate peace is if one or the other falls," the candy monarch said matter of fact.

"You are a fool if you continue this course of action!"

"And you're a ding-dong!" PB smirked.

Phoebe was on the brink of losing it, "PLEASE reconsider! I'm the only one that's stopping my forces from storming your city. I won't have any control over them once I set them loose!"

"It's too late, I've already made up my mind," PB said in absolute.

"Mark my words, Bonnibel," Phoebe said in a low voice. "My men will win this war and force your surrender. Even if I have to go in there and get you myself."

"Good luck, I'll be waiting!"

The fire monarch destroyed her cell as she spiked it towards the ground with extreme vigor. Everyone silently watched their leader with fear and anxiety knowing she was not in a good mood. Then, Phoebe's flames intensified until she shouted in a fit of rage.

She roared ferociously from the fact that negotiations failed. She shook her fists foreseeing the massive casualties the war would surely bring. Everything that the fire elemental had hoped to accomplish days before was effectively shot down by her adversary's stubbornness. All those hours of staying up late at night to draft a peace treaty were thrown out the window.

The Supreme General trembled as he witnessed his sister's rage. From that moment, he knew better than to challenge his sibling if he ever considered it. He cautiously moved a few steps back as he felt the intense heat Phoebe emitted.

After a while, the fire monarch returned to her normal state. Her head was bowed and her fists were clenched as she recomposed herself. Then, she took several deep breaths before approaching her brother.

"Launch the invasion. Now," Phoebe said bitterly. Her eyes glowed red with fury which made him struggle more to keep a calm demeanor.

He nodded quickly, "By your command." He left her sight moments later and radioed all units. "All stations, prepare for deployment! Mission is a go! I repeat, mission is a go!"

"Princess," Cinnamon Bun asked as he cautiously approached the distressed ruler.

She looked down and closed her eyes again as she tried to calm herself. The frustration from Bubblegum's refusal remained apparent in her mind. "I'm going out there," she told her knight.

CB shook his head, "No, right now you are a mess. Let your troops clear a path to the palace first before you step into the field. You may not value your safety now, but I do! Your people are counting on you to bring them out of this mess, and they'll need you even more when the dust settles. Don't waste your life from an act of impulse."

Phoebe knew he was right and reluctantly complied, "Fine!" With that, she stormed into her personal quarters.

A few minutes later, the ground trembled as the invasion force made its way to the Candy Kingdom outskirts. Thousands of soldiers marched relentlessly out of the Grasslands until they finally saw the enemy in sight.

The Candy Army's defense consisted of various trenches, guard towers, and concrete bunkers. A small breeze blew through the air as the defending troops stared at the fiery army with a mix of fear and determination. Their hands trembled from both the weather and from the anxiety of going into battle once more. After hearing the recent defeat of their troops being decimated, many of the new recruits felt discouraged to fight and considered deserting. However, their superiors kept a fierce demeanor and forced them to stay.

"No one leaves," one officer said. "Your fellow citizens are counting on you for their survival. Abandoning your posts is an act of cowardice and treason. If you attempt to run, you will be shot at!"

The company reluctantly acknowledged their orders as they continued to hold their positions. Silence roamed around the area until the breeze began to intensify and develop into a howling wind.

"(sigh) There they are," one soldier whispered in the trenches.

"Stand fast," an officer barked overhead. "Ready your weapons!"

Engines revved nearby as the supporting tanks moved slightly forward in position.

"Artillery," Colonel Candy Corn radioed. "Fire a few shots down the field!"

"Sir, we're still out of range," the artillery commander replied.

"That wasn't a suggestion, soldier! Do it!"

And so, the Fire troops shook with anxiety as the shells struck the ground. No one was hurt from the strike, but the overall experience of seeing and hearing the distant explosions made them more unnerved than they already were. They knew this next battle wasn't going to be easy based on the defenses that loomed ahead.

The Supreme General hardened his features as he observed the defenses. The Candy Kingdom appeared to have advanced weaponry no doubt, but they lacked combat experience. Knowing this, Phoebe's brother reassured himself that his forces would still overwhelm the enemy.

"Alright, men," he radioed the invaders. "Destiny calls. The almighty Grod expects us with one thing and one thing only, that we will win!"

The Fire troops gripped their weapons and tensed their shoulders.

"Today, marks a glorious day, for ourselves and for the Fire Kingdom."

Distant explosions echoed from the field as the invaders controlled their breathing.

A few moments later, the superior conjured a sword in his right hand and flung it shouting, "CHARGE!"
