CHAPTER 11 – Breakfast!

A/N – all reviews welcome and thank you! #gsrforever

The sound of a phone ringing arouse her from slumber and then daylight peeping through the curtains made her aware that it was probably day time. She looked at her phone, 4 missed calls "GRISSOM". She sighed, "how long was out for?" she asked herself as she re-dialled his number,

"Sara, finally, are you ok? Where are you?" grisssom ranted before she even got a chance to talk. " hello to you to Grissom. I'm at home, where I have been since last shift and if you must know I've been asleep, I was tired"

Grissom somewhat calmer responded, "ok, well that's good, that you were sleeping, I tried ringing you a few times, I missed your call last night. What are you up to now?"

"I was gonna take a shower and then get some breakfast."

"how bout I pick up breakfast and bring it over to yours?" grisssom asked hoping she say ok. Sara thought about it. "ya ok that's fine we have a few things to talk about anyway."

"ok great IL see you in about an hour?"

One hour later, Grissom was at saras door with breakfast in hand. "hi" Sara said. He had a smile on his face when he saw her, "hi. How are feeling?" she brought him in and started to get plates out of the cupboard, "I'm fine. You? look I don't want to beat around the bush here, how come I wasn't told about the team change? I have to report to Lemmur and Catherine? I mean I understand why Catherine but this guy Lemmur is just in the door, what gives him seniority over me?" Sara said rushed, getting more angrier as she ranted.

Grisssom was ambushed, he came over to tell her about just that and she already knew? "Sara that's what I was trying to ring you about. Ecklie told us he was going to do this, he just implemented last night after shift, it's up to me and Catherine to tell everyone tonight. And Lemmur is just shadowing Catherine's management skills, he expressed a role in management even before he came here, its what Ecklie had in mind for him"

She just stared at him for a second not really knowing what to say. She was pissed off and she was more pissed off because she felt all these changes taking place were mainly because of her. She broke eye contact with him and concentrated on organising the food on her plate. He picked up on her solemn silence.

"Sara what's wrong?" grisssom asked sensing she was upset.

"nothing, I just thought that I should of heard all that from you, or Ecklie or Catherine. Not Lemmur." Grisssom looked at her confused, "what do you mean? Lemmur told you?"

"ya grisssom Lemmur told me, he got great satisfaction in letting me know he was in charge of me and I didn't appreciate it" Sara said to Grissom hoping he would understand how she was made felt by this blown-in.

Grisssom, taking a fork-full of bacon, "Sara I'm sorry you found out like that, maybe Lemmur thought you already knew, I'm guessing it was just a simple error in communication. But the blame does lie with me so for that I apologise"

Sara looked directly at him wide-eyed and not actually believing what he was saying to her, 'does he not believe me? Does he think I'm exaggerating?' she thought to herself.

She was about to kick off when she decided to take a different approach. "You really like this guy Lemmur don't you?" to this Grissom just nodded but Sara continued, "what if I told you that your precious Lemmur had a go at me yesterday? Accused me of dodging work and that he doesn't like me. Would you still think he's a stand-up guy then?"

Grissom couldn't believe what he was hearing and refused to. "Sara when did this" he was interrupted by a phone ringing….hers for once.

She rolled her eyes in annoyance at the interruption, "Sidle" she answered rather aggressively. "Oh hi, yes this is fine….oh…right, and I can just buy them… alright….no I'm not….ok….thanks for letting me know….ok thank you doctor"

Grisssom was ready to pounce on her the minute she ended the call, he didn't know what it was about but he knew from her tone that he wouldn't like it. "what's going on?"

"that was my doctor, she got some test results of mine back today and it turns out I'm anaemic. She wants me to take iron supplements to build back up my iron" she said very matter-of-factly. Grisssom on the other hand was starting to panic in his brain.

"why didn't you tell me you were ill, you're not eating right either, Sara anaemia is very serious in pregnancy, we'll have to cut down your shifts and no more doubles and no more out in the field" he ranted on.

"hang on a second Grissom, I am fine, loads of women become anaemic during pregnancy, an iron tablet a day and IL be fine again. As for work, that's no longer your decision. I'm well capable of carrying out my duties still. You need to calm down"

Grissom visibly relaxed a bit but in truth that was only for her sake, inside he was still nervous and scared of the unknown and the thought of something going wrong at any minute. Sara continued, "which brings me to another matter I have to discuss with you, telling the team, we have to do it soon"

Grissom nodded, "I know I agree, well then tonight is as good a night as any right?"

They finished up breakfast with small talk, anything that wasn't baby, pregnancy or work related. He started again, "Sara if you want to take the night off, I can arrange it, you stay here and rest, you need it", she held up a hand, "no, no no, I'm fine, I want to work, grisssom I need to work". He just nodded dejectedly. They only had 2hours before they had to be on shift and he knew she would want time to get ready, "right well IL leave you and see you at work? Or I could wait and we could both go in together?"

Sara shook her head, "no that's I ok, I've a few things to do before I go in anyway. Thanks though and ya IL see you in a couple of hours."

He walked to her door, opened it and turned back to her, "Sara I don't want you to worry about this conflict with Lemmur, IL sort it."

She nodded her head as a thank you and then he was gone. She was so mad at him, 'how could he think this was an "error" in communication' this guy Lemmur was out for her. She knew she just had to be on top of her game and not let him get to her. As she started to get undressed to get ready for her shift, her mind wandered to how work would never be the same again once everyone knew. At that thought, her eyes drew down to an ever so slight swell of her tummy only visible to her. She placed her hand there and felt a surge of protection. "we'll be ok, we'll get through it"
