Chapter 2:

Violet watched as the majestic white owl flew through the room before landing on the window ledge. She turned to Sarah who was clinging to her like a leech; fright the only emotion in her brown eyes. BANG! The thunder caused both girls to jump and turn to the source. To their surprise the owl was no longer there. There was a man in its place. Violet couldn't help her wondering eyes as she examined the stranger before her. He was tall with a lithe build and long wild blonde hair. She found his eyes to be his most fascinating aspect. They were strange. One eye was a sparkling blue and the other, a diluted brown. He was wearing strange clothes she had only ever seen in the fairy tale movies she had went to with her sister. Violet felt Sarah tense next to her. "You're him aren't you? You're the goblin king." Sarah asked letting go of her sister. Violet watched as the man ignored Sarah, his eyes piercing through her as if looking into the very pits of her soul. Violet registered what Sarah had said and turned to her sister. "Sarah what are you talking about? Who is this man?" Sarah ignored her in favor of the man before them.

"I want my brother back, if it's all the same." She spoke haughtily to the man, trying to catch his attention. Violet shifted uncomfortably as the man's eyes still lingered on her, mismatched eyes observing every feature of her body. His eyes flickered to Sarah briefly and said, "What's said is said". Violet looked at the man and stood up straight. "Where is Toby? What have you done to him!" violet felt herself shiver as his eyes pierced her again, an almost savage look in his eyes. It looked like he was restraining himself. "Oh you don't know. Your darling sister has wished away your brother, to me." His deep voice wrapped around her like a warm quilt. "I didn't mean it!" Sarah protested. "Why would you do this Sarah? He's only a baby. For peats sake are you that blinded by jealousy, that you'd give away our brother." Violet ranted. She was angry. She didn't know what to think. There was a man in the room claiming to be the goblin king that she and Sarah often read about, and he just said he had taken their brother. Turning to the goblin king she pleaded, "Please, where is he?" she saw his eyes flash with hidden emotions as he stated the obvious. "You know very well where he is." Sarah was crying next to violet. "Please bring him back. Please." The goblin king looked at Sarah with barely concealed disgust. As if she was scum. "Sarah….go back to your room. Play with your toys and your costumes. Forget about the baby." Violets head whipped to her sister. "You better not." She hissed. Sarah shook her head. "I can't." He stared at Sarah for a moment, studying her for any weakness he could use to his advantage.

Jareth's .View.:

Jareth could feel the anger and frustration build inside him as the stupid human girl defied him. She was your typical human. Selfish, unfulfilled and self-concerned. Her sister on the other hand was different. He could sense it. He just wanted to grab her and lock her in his castle. Never to be seen on this dull planet any longer. He had been watching her for several years and knew everything about her. How hard it must be for an angel to walk upon this dimension of unhappiness, deceit and treachery. She shouldn't be alone for even a minute. Her time should be begged for, her presence desired, her needs fulfilled. He was the only person who could provide such things for her. He would make certain everyone knew this, including her.

Sarah's .View:

Sarah stared at the goblin king in awe. She couldn't believe he was real. He looked at her with weird eyes. They glared at her slightly. "I've brought you a gift" Sarah felt excitement build in her chest. What could it be? Money, A castle, Powers? Putting on her acting façade she asked, "What is it?" he smirked at her. It chilled her to the core. It had malicious intent hidden behind it. She looked at violet to see her watching the kings every move with careful eyes. Turning back to him, she listened as he explained. "It's a crystal, nothing more, but if you turn it this way and look into it, it will show you your dreams. But this isn't a gift for an ordinary girl who takes care of a screaming baby. Do you want it? Then forget the baby." Sarah thought it over. Baby or dreams. Turning to violet she flinched at the ferocious glare coming for her sister. She knew if she picked her dreams she would be dead before she could live them. She turned to the menacing king. "I can't. I appreciate what you're offering, but I want my brother back. He must be scared." That apparently wasn't the answer he was looking for as his eyes held a promise of great pain. "Sarah. Don't defy me!" he hissed through his teeth and through a conjured snake at her. Both Sarah and violet started to scream as the snake tightened around her neck. "Stop, please!" violet pleaded as her sister started to turn purple. Seeing her distress he snapped his fingers and the snake turned into a scarf. The girls could hear giggling surrounding them in every direction. "You're no match for me!" he glared.

"We need our brother back." Violet said in Sarah's place. Sarah was bent over, trying to regain her breath. With a flick of his wrist the whole room changed until they were standing on a dirt hill, which was just in front of what seemed to be a maze. "He's there in my castle. Do you still want to look for him?" Sarah stared in awe. It was just like she imagined it. "Turn back before it's too late." Sarah noticed how he spoke directly at her and not violet. Feeling her inner actress coming out she theatrically said, "I can't. Don't you understand that I can't?" "I'm not leaving either." Violet claimed next to her. Sarah noticed the secretive smirk on the king's face as he stared at violet with what seemed like a dark adoration. "What a pity" Sarah could practically taste the sarcasm. "It doesn't look that far" violet claimed, bringing Sarah out of her thoughts. The king seemed to be amused by violet and this caused a surge of jealousy in Sarah. It wasn't fair. Why did violet get his attention and not her? "It's further than you think." He replied softly to violet. A great contrast with the tone he was using on Sarah. Turning to Sarah his tone became sharp and cold. "Time is short. You have 13 hours in which to solve the labyrinth before your baby brother becomes one of us…..forever. Such a pity." "Come on Sarah we better get started." Violet said walking ahead of her until the kings deep laugh could be heard. Both girls jumped, startled by him. Suddenly in a flash the king grabbed violet by her arm and pulled her into his side. She was to shocked to move. "What are you doing? Leave her alone!" Sarah yelled as the king tightened his grip on her still shocked sister. "Silly little girl! She won't be going with you. I can't have her getting hurt, now can I? you have 13 hours. You better hurry." And with a flash of light he was gone. "No! Give her back. It's not fair!" Sarah sobbed as he took her. Who knew what he would do to her. She had to find them, Toby and violet. Wiping her eyes off her sleeves she stood straight and went in search of the entrance.
