Chapter 2
Creating a weekly menu for her new boss was a bit more stressful than expected. All the notes left by her predecessors were contradicting themselves. While there were some useful notes that she wrote in her own notebook, most of it didn't make sense.
The only conclusion she could come to was that Xanxus didn't want the same thing over and over again but there was one thing that was a constant. Meat.
He didn't like vegetables much either…
He was very much like a child and from what she knew about children they get tired of the same thing often. The stories she had heard from the other staff about their bosses temper were terrifying but so far she had yet to witness his bouts of anger. Her food had been received well so far but that didn't mean she could relax and risk making a mistake.
Looking down at the planner she let out a sigh and erased the lines she had unconsciously drew on the page. She knew that Xanxus needed variety every two weeks. She could stretch a single meal plan for a month if she didn't serve the same meal once a week. Maybe something new every day?
"...e...y?"
Jumping at the sound of the voice, Luna ended up banging her knee against the counter she was leaning against.
Wide blue eyes stared up at the tall dark haired man with the craziest hair she had ever seen standing before her. He was wearing the same uniform as Squalo the day she had met him, meaning this man was a Varia general.
Her palms were feeling clammy as she composed herself and looking nervously up at the man. She was alone in the kitchen with him, since Sasha and Luke had left for their break.
"Y-Yes, c-can I he-help you?" She managed to stutter out.
"You're the bosses new cook aren't you?" The tall man crossed his arms over his chest, the expression on his face was terrifying.
Luna's heart felt like it was going to rip itself out of her chest but she stood her ground. Since she had arrived here no one had been unkind and it was that reason alone that kept her from losing her composure.
"Yes."
He nodded, seemingly proud of himself, "I'm hungry, prepare me a snack you might prepare for the boss."
"Of-of course, where should I bring your snack?" While she had a rough understanding of the castles layout that didn't mean she had been everywhere.
"No, I will eat it here." He took a seat on the counter she was brainstorming on, "Go on and make it, I'll wait."
"Yes Sir, allow me to get started." At his nod she turned and began to make a sandwich with some of the sliced meat she had in the fridge for exactly this reason. Sometimes Xanxus would request a snack and she quickly learned that she needed to make him something in a short amount of time. He never complained about the sandwiches and until yesterday had requested them for the past week and a half.
Within minutes the sandwich was stuffed with meat and cheese and presented before the scary general with a glass of water.
"You're planning the bosses meals out?" He said as she set the plate before him.
Luna nodded, and eyed the journal he held in his large hands.
"On the surface it may seem like the boss likes nothing but meat but he actually has a very sophisticated palette."
Unable to help herself, Luna found herself speaking."What?"
"The reason the other chefs were fired was because they assumed that the boss would be fine with nothing but meat." He placed her notebook down on the counter, "I know the boss best so let me give you some advice as a thanks for this."
She hadn't been expecting this but maybe this was a blessing from god. "Please."
"You're on the right track, but make sure you use quality over quantity…" The man continued to give her advice as he ate, throwing in constant praised to Xanxus but Luna was writing down his suggestions the entire time and barely had time to notice how strange that actually was.
"Thank you so much- uh…"
"Levi." He said, answering her unspoken question.
"I'm Luna. Thank you for this Levi, please feel free to come by again if you ever get hungry." She smiled at him.
He looked really scary but he was actually very nice and that was a relief. He helped her make a menu for Xanxus that would last longer than just a week.
Variety and quality...
It's actually a lot harder to write about Xanxus than it is for Hibari so I wasn't sure how to move this forward but I decided to take my time building up their relationship and maybe focus on some others.
Let me know what you think~
