Officer Chops took them all to Tommy's house. A nice looking lady answered the door.

"Hello"

Noticing Tommy she freaked out ,"What happened? Is he okay?"

"Yeah he should be okay he took a flyball to his head. You may want to take him to the doctor",Officer Chops explains.

The boys helped officer Chops carry Tommy inside and into his bedroom.

"It's getting late you kids better get home", the officer advises.

"Could I walk you home?" Timber and Wings both blurt out at the same time. They both looked embarrassed ,but Cara blushed ,"Why don't we walk together then?"

So Wings and Timber walked Cara to her house.

"Bye it was nice meeting you."

"Can you come to the sandlot tomorrow?",Timber stammered.

"Yeah" ,Cara stuttered smiling before walking in the door.

"Tommy your friends are here", Mrs. Santorelli shouted. "Who?", Tommy questioned ,but his mom didn't hear him.

"I guess I'll go see what they want."

Tommy told them he's not feeling well ,but his mother insisted that he go and play with them.

"All right I'll go get my glove."

All the boys got ready to play baseball except Tommy he was looking around. Cara walked over to sit on the bench. She's not into sports but she figured it can't hurt to make some new friends. Plus there's nothing else to do in this small town. Tommy walked up to a guy."Hey Benny it's pretty weird right. I mean it's like the Twilight Zone or something." "Maybe you could tell me how we uh", he began putting his hand on Benny's shoulder.

Benny turned around Tommy slowly finished his sentence "got here." Tommy looked shocked and confused. "You asking me how I got here? The same way these kids are gonna get there cause they love to play ball that's the key kid", Benny imparted.

"You look so... so, well young", Tommy remarked.

"Really?Maybe I should be looking in the same mirror you're looking in hey kid."

"No I really wouldn't recommend that.",Tommy told him

"Come on hot shot lets see what you got", DP called. "You know what I think I'm just gonna watch", Tommy concluded. "Ok", Benny replied.

"Some all star", Wings dissed Tommy. "All star. in all start later. He's just full of it." Timber added. "This is Cara by the way", DP told Benny.

"Well hey Cara Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too."

"You play ball?", he asked. "Nope", Cara replied flatly. "I'm just gonna go sit by Tommy and watch you guys play", Cara commented and took off toward the stands.

"Why is Cara sitting by Tommy?", Timber asked Wings jealously as they were walking out to their spots on the field. "I dunno", Wings shrugged and looked upset.

"You new to town?", Squints guessed. "Yeah", Cara sighed as Tommy remarked "Not really." "Go Wings! Go Wings!",Timber shouted as Wings was running. "Wings", Tommy muttered to himself. "You know Wings McKay?", Squints assumed "Sure you can never forget that kind of speed", Tommy noted."Kids got no second gear that's for sure", Squints shared."It's gonna catch up to him though", Tommy revealed. Squints turned to face Tommy ,"I don't think anyone can catch him." As Squints turned away Tommy whispered ,"Except the cops."

Cara was too busy staring at Wings to notice what Tommy said. Two ton and Q were fighting and Squints was talking about Q. "I guess it paid off he's only one of the biggest brain surgeons", Tommy went on. Squints and Cara looked at him like he was crazy. "How hard did that ball hit your head yesterday?" Cara giggled. "I mean brains in the world", Tommy finished. "Are you okay kid? You might wanna get out the sun", Squints suggested. "It's not the sun. I just can't believe what I'm seeing", Tommy trailed off. "That's not good here. You give this card to your mom to come in. I'll set you up with some quality shades", Squints handed Tommy a card.

"Speaking of the shade come on kid."

Tommy started to follow him,"What's up with this kid crap?"

He stopped when he realized Cara didn't get down off the bleachers.

"You coming?"

"Sure..."

As Cara was getting down off the bleachers Tommy grabbed her hand to help balance her.

Cara blushed slightly,"Thanks."

Wings gave Tommy daggers although Tommy didn't see it Cara did. They sat watching the boys play in the shade."The guy taking the mound his name's Timber. He can throw some real heat.", Tommy was talking about the tall red head. "Yeah", Squints verified.

"But he can't pitch at batters right?"

"Yeah left or right. You put anybody in the box his arm turns to spaghetti."

Just then Timber pitched to Benny and hit the fence.

Timber was embarassed, "Sorry "

"Okay, Okay, that's good just keep throwing them a little lower. You're doing good.", Benny encouraged.

"If you know so much about these guys how come I don't know you? How come you aint playing?", Squints prodded. "Ok guys bring it in bring it in", Benny told them and all the boys went over to him.

"Okay do any of you guys have the guts to hit off a real major leaguer?"

All the guys said no in their own way.

"Right here partner right here", Tommy spoke up. Ryan handed Tommy a bat. Wings and Timber sat down by Cara to watch Tommy.

"All right. What's your name kid?"

"Tommy Santorelli and I promise you this you're not gonna forget it Benny."

"Who does this kid think he is Hank Aaron?", Two Ton questioned.

"I like your confidence kid let's see what you got."

"This is like deja vu", Tommy said to himself. "What's like deja vu?" , DP asked him. "This is like deja vu", Tommy repeated. "What's like deja vu?", DP repeated. DP laughed," Gotcha."

"I'm just gonna go nice and easy on you at first okay?", Benny told Tommy.

"You know what Benny that's always been your problem. You're too nice.", Tommy mocked him.

"Excuse me?"

"You're excused."

A chorus of "Oh", from the boys followed Tommy's sentence.

"Now bring it."

"Okay."

Tommy hit the ball over the fence. He hit it over a third time and Timber beamed, "I think his swing might be better than Hank Aaron's." As he hit the home run sign on the fence even Wings admitted it,"Yeah." Tommy handed the bay to Ryan, "Good pick kid."

"Wait your name's Ryan right?...Hey what do you say?"

Ryan looked like he was about to cry. Ryan walked away from Tommy. "Hey where'd you learn to hit like that kid?", Benny asked Tommy. "Staring down the likes of Ronnie Johnson, Rodrick Clemines you learn fast or you die trying", Tommy bragged. "Who are those guys?", Two ton asked. "Must be seventh graders", Wok and Roll said in unison. "With him on our team we could enter the all city championship", DP declared. "Enter you guys could win it", Squints stated. "Very high probability", Q agreed and everyone breaks out cheering. "Woah guys who said anything about me playing on your team?", Tommy asked rudely. "I'm not gonna be here that long. Look at it this way I showed you how it's done that's my little gift to you guys. Hey , they don't call me the santa for nothin", Tommy told them. "Stupid santa", DP sighed and turned away from Tommy. Cara turned away too,"You're a jerk." Benny walked over to Tommy.

"You got some talent kid ,but there's alot more to baseball than talent."

"Maybe you should have taken some of that advice in the 81 world series", Tommy pointed out.

"I like you kid you got quite the imagination. 81 world series huh?"

A guy and his kid walked by with a tape measurer. The boy who's wearing purple gave Tommy a dirty look. "DJ all the way to the fence", the man ordered.
