More from Inuyasha's Point of View - the Sacred Tree scene from Movie 1.

His friends were scattered. Kagome was badly injured. He was badly injured. That bastard was going to pay. Menomaru had crossed a line. Inuyasha ran through the forest, a growl rumbling in his throat. He came to a long, wooden bridge and froze. In the distance, he could see the shape of what looked like a Priestess.

"Kikyo?"

The figure stepped onto the bridge, finally coming into view. The robes were deceiving.

"Kagome!"

Something seemed off, but he couldn't place it. She smelled like Kagome. Maybe it was just Hyoga's overpowering demonic aura messing with his mind.

"I'm glad you're not hurt. But you look kind of pale. Go back to Kaede's house and rest."

She didn't say a word, but stepped closer to him and rested her head on his chest. He was taken aback; it wasn't like her to be so forward. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly.

"I'm sorry I couldn't get to you sooner."

Her scent overpowered him. He always felt so relaxed with her nearby. The battle ahead seemed easier with her on his side.

"Inu … yasha," her voice was so strained. Had she been that badly injured?

"Get … away."

"Huh?" suddenly pain ripped through his torso. Looking down, Kagome had glowing claws that had pierced through him. What the hell…?

"Ka … gome?"

The claws retracted, and pain once again ripped through him. She must be under some kind of spell… it has to be Menomaru. He lept back, out of reach of the odd glowing claws. Now, they were the same length as his. But she – or Menomaru – was preparing another attack. He caught her wrist, being as careful as he could.

"Snap out of it Kagome!"

Sizzling and the creak of old wood reached his ears, and the bridge began to give out. As he fell, Kagome rose. She rose her arm again, ready to attack.

"Die Inuyasha," but it wasn't entirely her voice.

He blocked the glowing shards from her claws as he fell. Damn that bastard. He's going to pay for this. He regained his balance on a rock, before using it to run along the river. He couldn't attack, this was Kagome! But she could easily kill him.

"Damn, what am I going to do?"

Soon, he found himself weaving through the forest. His forest. Maybe the power of the Sacred Tree could help overcome whatever spell she was under? She launched yet another attack, but his injuries slowed him down. Somehow Menomaru had control of her spiritual power as well, because the next thing he knew he was slammed against the Sacred Tree from some sort of forcefield. He was losing so much blood. He looked up, but instead he saw Kikyo from all those years ago, launching the arrow. Reality slammed into him as glowing shards pierced his body. This wasn't Kikyo. This was Kagome.

Now a bow was forming in her hands. How was Menomaru doing this? No … this is just like last time. She was aiming … but she froze? Or was that his vision getting blurry? No … she dropped the bow, falling to her knees.

"Kagome?"

"Inu … yasha. I have no control … over my body. I can't stop …" her hands were reaching for the arrow on the ground now. He couldn't imagine how hard she was fighting right now. "Run … run before I –"

"That's enough, I don't want to hear it!" He pushed himself into a standing position, biting back the pain vibrating through him. "I'm sick of you, and everybody else telling me to run. I'm not running. Not without you. I won't leave you behind."

She didn't answer him. She was fighting harder now, it looked like. But Menomaru was too powerful. Before he knew it, the arrow was soaring through the air. He whispered her name before everything went black.

After what seemed like days in the dark, a faint light appeared before Inuyasha's eyes. He could hear Myoga, Shippo, and Kaeda calling his name. He could even feel Myoga on his face. But instead, he was surrounded by white. Was this snow? There was another presence here, but he couldn't see or smell her.

"Kagome? Is that you?"

"Inuyasha! How are you?"

"Don't worry this is nothing," he could hear her, but he couldn't see her. "I'm kinda surprised you aren't here."

"I … came back," her voice was like a whisper in the wind. He smiled.

"Got scared, did ya?"

"No! I just … " she trailed off. There wasn't something she didn't want to say. "Nevermind."

"Stupid, you never change," he smirked.

"What do you mean stupid?" he closed his eyes, breathing in her scent. It was stronger now. When he opened his eyes again, she was there.

"Oh – you are here Kagome!" he relaxed. His wounds were healing a bit, but he was still in pain. "So, what have you been worrying about?"

She stared at the ground. "I just feel so hopeless. I even ended up hurting you Inuyasha. I thought you'd be better off without me around."

"Would you stop going on like that?" he pushed himself up and started towards her, but a sharp pain in his chest stopped him in his tracks. She rushed to him, and in typical Kagome fashion told him to stop or he'd make himself hurt more. As soon as she was beside him, he wrapped her into an embrace, much like he'd done on the bridge before her attack. "I need you with me Kagome. Haven't you realized that yet?"

She whispered thank you, and Inuyasha felt himself wake up. That was a dream? No... It felt so real. He could still feel her presence though.

"Come on back Kagome."

"Inuyasha!" now it was Shippo's voice calling to him.

The kitsune leapt onto his lap. "Who are you talking to?"

"Kagome," he grumbled. Now that he was actually awake, the pain was a bit sharper. But it was also fading much quicker. "She returned to her time, but somehow, we're able to communicate through the Sacred Tree."

"Incredible," Kaede mused. "Her spiritual power is truly extraordinary."

"Master, what happened?"

Inuyasha was about to explain when he heard Kagome's voice again. She couldn't get back?

"Kaede – Kagome's trapped on her side. She says the well is covered with roots. What can she do?"

"Use her sacred arrow. It should pierce through the roots."

He relayed the message, and quickly explained to Myoga what happened. After a few moments, he was able to stand without any pain. Yet Kagome still hadn't made it through. Fearing the worst, he decided to take matters into his own hand. He moved to the well, ready to break the roots. But just as he was about to swing, the well exploded. The smell of burning wood filled his nose, but he heard Kagome's voice.

Thank goodness. She's okay.
