A/N: Hey everyone! Shout out to MickeyMarceline101 for your review. It made my day when I read it. I too, binge read whole fics in a matter of days, even if I've read them five times. Seriously, it drives my husband crazy. But we all re-read our favourite books, why should Fanfiction be any different? Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Marvel, Disney, ABC Fox or the Avengers.
"Mom!" Callie yelled as we were still being sucked up.
"Loki!" Thor yelled as he rose above us in the Bifrost. Hela was in and gaining on us, Loki used himself as a shield for Callie, attacking Hela. I summoned a ball of fire to distract her and she easily deflected it.
"Mom," Callie said, as Hela came at me. I dodged her attempt, grabbing both Callie and Loki as I was pushed out of the Bifrost. I don't remember falling, but as soon as we hit some sort of debris, I instinctively pulled them closer and started flying. There was a field as big as Manhattan of junk, debris, and garbage, surrounding a city. It wasn't Earth, so I assumed it was some unknown planet to the Nine Realms.
"What is this place?" Loki asked as I struggled against the weight.
"Wherever it is, we need to land," I said, gritting my teeth. The ground came up too fast, because I had to drop Loki and Callie is the softest looking pile of space trash I could find, before crash landing myself.
"Gah! I yelled out as I tried to get up in a pile of goo.
"Sound off, are you alive?" I yelled out to where I dropped them.
"I'm… alive," She groaned as her head popped up.
"I am as well. That sucked," Loki said, looking up at the sky, where we fell. A ship approached, guns pointed at us. It set down, and a woman got out, dressed in armor, with gauntlets held out in front, directing the guns on her ship.
"Well you all look like fighters," She smiled.
"Callie, how about a way home?" I said quietly.
"Yup," She said, before the woman shot something at her. A small disk attached to her neck and shocked Callie.
"No!" I yelled, going to hold Callie as she fell unconscious. I felt a pain in my neck and hissed, "Bitch."
"Now, before I do the same to your friend here," She said, pointing it at Loki.
"No! I will come with you, he doesn't have to. Just let my daughter go," I asked, pulling my wings in.
"Daughter?" She asked, confused, probably seeing how close in age Callie and I looked. I got up, not answering her confusion, and said, "They stay."
"Nice swords," She said, as I slowly walked towards her ship.
"Not yours," I said as she opened a hatch.
"I'm sorry, but they both come as well."
"Just promise me they won't be harmed. You can have me," I said, making her smirk.
"I can't make promises for the Grandmaster, but I won't harm them," She said as Loki picked up Callie's form and bringing her onto the ship.
"You'll need to be unconscious. When we arrive, I'll tell the Grandmaster to bring your friend here on a courtier and that you will fight in exchange for your daughter's safety. He is merciful. When he is in the right mood," She said.
"If you don't, I promise you, my face is the last one you will see after I slit your throat," I said, looking her dead in the eye.
"I'd like to see you try," She smirked, before pressing the button on her remote, sending shocks through my system, muscles spasming and contracting, before everything went dark.
"Fear not, for you are found. You are home and there is no going back. No one leaves this place. But what is this place? The answer is Sakaar!" The voice said, before Pure Imagination started playing, making me question the sanity of however put this together.
"Surrounding by cosmic gateways, Sakaar lives on the edge of the known and the unknown. The collection point for all lost and unloved things, like you. But here on Sakaar, you are significant. You are valuable. Here, you are loved. And no one loves you more than the Grandmaster. He is the original. The first lost and the first found. The creator of Sakaar, and father of the Contest of Champions. Where once you are nothing, now you are something. You are the property of the Grandmaster," The voice said, as the music started to get creepy, like a Furby running out of battery.
"Congratulations, you will meet the Grandmaster in five seconds. Prepare yourself, prepare yourself. You are now meeting the Grandmaster!" It said, before I took a deep breath. All of the sudden the VR experience stopped and I was in front of the Grandmaster. I mean, it had to be him. He looked stupid and was sitting on a dais.
"She's marvelous. It is a she?"
"Yes," The woman who captured me said, smirking.
"And her skills? Is she a contender?"
"I was thinking your new Champion. Wings of fire, eyes that blaze red when she is angry," She responded, "Who knows what else she can do with those swords? Her daughter calls her the Siren, the Avenging Angel of Earth."
"Let's try her out. And you said she had a daughter?"
"Yes. But in return for fighting, she wants her daughter protected."
"Where is this daughter?" He asked, as I heard a shuffling sound behind me.
"Mom!" Callie's voice said as she was brought beside my chair.
"Have they hurt you?" I asked as she hugged my upper body. As I was strapped to the chair, I couldn't exactly hug her back.
"No, she's been kind. She made sure no one touched me," Callie said quietly, "But Mom, I can't jump. Something about this… thing is dampening me."
"Daughter? She looks like your sister!" The Grandmaster exclaimed, before smiling at another woman beside him, "Accommodations for our guests. Something… comfortable."
"But secure," The woman sneered.
"Of course. Can't blindly trust her," He laughed, "I expect a trial run. And if she doesn't fair well, we'll just…"
"Use the stick," The other woman said, smiling sadistically.
"No. Is that your answer for everything, The Stick? I was going to say that her daughter be put in the ring."
"I will fight, but she isn't harmed," I said finally, eyes steeled on the Grandmaster.
"Her voice… giving me chills. I think she will turn out to be exactly what was promised. Prepare her to fight," He smiled.
I was given the choice of other weapons, but I wasn't going to part from my swords. Especially when I knew what they could do. Val, I learned her name finally, promised they would be waiting for me in the weapons room. I was alone in the room, preparing myself by reasoning that who ever I have to kill, was to keep Callie safe from these people.
I was brought into a room where a familiar looking older man stood, but with a very different arm than before.
"You, what are you doing here?" I asked, confused.
"I'm here to cut your hair for the fight," He said loudly, before quietly saying, "Play along. I'm working."
"What? No, don't touch my hair... unless you don't want to keep your other arm," I said, getting up.
"Alright, but it will be easier to fight with it shorter, or back."
"You know I don't need either to fight," I said, as he nodded, "She's good. Send her out."
I knew that my Kimoyo beads weren't working either, so no help for ARSENAL or Shuri, but if I could get Callie free of the device on her neck, she could jump us out. Hopefully, if this thing didn't have a tether on it. So I touched the beads, and sighed, "This is gonna suck."
I just hoped Loki was alright. Thor wasn't with us, so I assumed he was on Asgard fighting Hela. I needed to get out of here quickly, but I would need to play along until Thor came to rescue us.
"Siren, you're up," A guard called, as I re-sheathed my swords on my back.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you our new contender, and future champion, Siren!" The Grandmaster's voice announced as I walked out, brandishing my wings and two fireballs.
"And fight!" He said as I stared down my opponents. Plural. Exactly six.
They looked at each other, before rushing me. I dodged them pretty easily, trying hard to knock them out, versus kill. One was bloodthirsty and wouldn't stop, so I had to put him down. But once I stood victorious, eyes blazing red, the Grandmaster stood up clapping, exclaiming, "My beloved champion, the Siren!"
The stadium cheered, and I knew I had to play along, raising my swords and putting on a show of breaking it, sending a sonic blast around me. I flew up enough for the crowd to see me, as they screamed. A small part of me liked it, but I knew I wasn't here for glory. I was here because some sick individuals liked pitting people against each other for sport.
As I was escorted back to my 'room', I saw Callie, pacing back and forth.
"Callie!" I said, running towards her. She looked up and sobbed as she saw me, running to hug me tightly.
"I was so worried. No one would tell me anything. Uncle Loki dropped by to see me, but couldn't be spotted."
"Let me guess, magic?" I said, dropping my swords on the couch. I looked around and realized this was a spacious living quarter, with a hot tub, large bed and full bar.
"They've fed me, and are bringing more food for you. Mom, what do we do?" She asked softly as the guard put up an electric fence at our doorway.
"We play along. I will figure out a way to get that thing off your neck in the mean time, and then you jump us all out of here," I said, as a few alien women in long black dresses brought food in on trays.
"Play," One said, handing me a device and gesturing to a button. I pressed it, and a holographic of the Grandmaster appeared.
"Siren, I hope you enjoy the accommodations. Food will be brought to you whenever you desire. Training starts every morning, bright and early. So get a good nights sleep, my Champion."
As the recording stopped and the servants left, I said, "I hate this place."
A week went by and then another two. Val and I drank nightly, myself to pass time, and her to forget her past. She briefly told me of her history on Asgard as a Valkyrie and I was astonished that another Asgardian was on this planet. Especially one that had fought against Hela, and was the last of her sisters. I tried to help her a bit, but she couldn't get past what the Throne of Asgard had asked of her and her sisters. I was fighting most nights, keeping the crowd pumped. They set off fireworks for me, and red, yellow and orange chalk bombs to signal my walks into the arena. But tonight I heard the Grandmaster announce my opponent a bit differently.
"And now, without further adieu, it's main event time. Making his first appearance, looks quite promising, with a couple of tricks up his sleeve. I'll say no more, see what you think. Ladies and gentlemen I give you, Lord of Thunder."
"It couldn't be," I said, confused.
"Watch out for his fingers, they make sparks."
"Yup, that's him," I sighed, shaking my head at my luck.
"Okay, this is it. Let's get ready to welcome her. Here she comes!" The grandmaster's voice said outside my door. I heard the chalk bombs going off around the area as the crowd roared.
"She is a creature of grace and bloodshed. There is none like her. I share a special connection with her. She is undefeated. She is the reigning, she's the defending. I give you, your Siren!" He said as my gate was opened and I swooped out, trailing fire behind me as I pumped up the crowd.
"YES!" I heard, seeing Thor. I whispered to myself as I landed about fifty feet from him, "No, big guy. Don't say it."
The crowd went silent, except for a few murmurs, and I looked up to the Grandmaster's box to where Loki sat at his couch, shaking his head at his brother.
"Hey, hey!" Thor yelled, getting the Grandmaster's attention, "We know each other. She's a friend from work! Loki, it's Sera!"
"Thor, stop. I need you to go down easily," I said as I flew towards him slowly.
"Sera, why?" He asked.
"Just trust me," I said, before I proceeded to try and land a punch on him.
My knuckles were fractured for sure, but he played along, pretending to get thrown, allowing me to drop him from a great height, and when I thought I had him down, his fight or flight must have kicked in, because all at once he threw me off with a punch of lightning. I caught myself as I soared backwards, shaking it off and looking back at Thor. He had arcs of electricity moving over his body and his eyes glowed bright blue. He charged me again, punching my chest with his lightning. I quickly absorbed it with a groan, gritting my teeth at the sudden surge of energy.
He looked up at me in shock, before I said, "I'm sorry about this brother."
I directed it back through my hands, blowing him backwards into a wall. He wearily got up, stumbling forward, before his body spasmed like it was tasered. He fell unconscious, and I raised my swords in victory to the crowd. I glanced up at Loki quickly and he gave a quick nod, before I grabbed a hold of Thor, flying upwards with him, before dropping him again.
