A/N: Hello, and welcome back to Smashventures! This chapter will be the middle chapter to the Kart Saga. The story has kinda evolved from a bunch of one chapter one-shots to a bunch of story arc two or three-shots. I'm hoping to get some more one-shots in the story, but I have a lot of story ideas right now, so I don't think that it'll be a problem. Anyways, to the chapter!
Chapter 15: A Day At The Races
Villager was so excited! He was gonna get to ride a go-kart! He's always wanted to be a taxi driver, so that he could meet some secret agents by fate and relevantly befriend them as they drag him on their epic adventures so that he could get the agents out of a sticky situation at the last second, while wearing sunglasses. And explosions (hint hint wink wink).
Eh, maybe someday.
Anyways, the three of them entered the laboratory. The whole laboratory was just one classroom sized room, but boy was it hectic. Villager's head was almost blown away by a flying smiley face the second they entered the room. There were experiments spurting electricity and bolts everywhere. Lab animals which can had been mutated were running around everywhere. There was a pair of rats playing ping pong on a giant ping pong table. An unusual amount of smoke was coming from underneath the ping pong table.
"Ah, E. Gadd must be over there." Mario said, heading over to the table. Link and Villager followed.
"Uh, hello?" Mario said. The man sat up with a gasp, hitting his head on the table.
"Ow! My cerebral cortex!" He said, in a very nerdy voice (wow so descriptive). He got up, dusting himself off. He was a short man, about Mario's height. He had a very thin body, but a huge head the shape on an egg. There was a small tuft of white hair on the top of his head, and he was wearing a white lab coat. Well, it would be white... If it wasn't covered in smoked. He had glasses with spirals on them, so that you couldn't see his eyes.
He got up, dusting himself off. Looking at Mario, he smiled widely, and hugged him tightly, "Ah, Mario!" The scientist said, "how goes it?"
"It's nice." Mario said, smiling. He looked at Link and Villager, who looked dumbfounded. "Ahem," he said, "I actually have a favor to ask of you."
"Well, I'll be more than happy to oblige to what you need!" The scientist, who apparently the famous E. Gadd, said. "But... I may need some... Inspiration." He said, rubbing his fingers together.
"Don't worry." Mario said, taking out a brown bag. "Here's your coffee!" E. Gadd took it with a large grin. He took out the cup inside the bag, and drank all of it, cup and all, in one gulp.
"Now, what can I do ya for?" Gadd said, wiping off his coffee covered lips.
"Well, I have these friends here..." Mario pointed to Link and Villager, who were awkwardly watching the whole thing unfold behind Mario.
"Oh! Guests!" Gadd said, running up to them, "How do you do?"
"Well, anyways, they need a go-kart." Mario said.
"Well ok then!" Gadd took a few blueprints out of his coat pocket. "I've actually been working on a couple of kart and motorcycle designs!"
He pulled out a couple of blueprints, and laid them out on the table. "Choose any one you like."
"Ooh! Me first!" Villager said, jumping on the table. The impact sent blueprints flying. Link scratched his head as Villager swam through the pile of blueprints. There was a single blueprint, which had fallen off the table, at Link's feet. He picked it up and unfolded it.
"It's... Perfect!" He said, admiring the blueprints to the bike that he had happened to pick up. It seemed to focus on speed, and left little room for mistakes.
"Uh... You sure? That's a bike, which is more risky to use, but with greater rewards. Not recommended for a beginner." Mario said.
Link nodded. "Yes. I want this one."
"Alright. If you say so." Mario said. He rolled up the blueprint, and gave it to E. Gadd.
"Good, good!" He said. "It'll be built by tomorrow."
"I want this one!" Villager said, holding a blueprint in his hand. He gave it to E. Gadd.
"Alright. Come back tomorrow to pick up your new vehicles!" E. Gadd said. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a lot of experiments to attend to." He pulled a lever, and the three of his guests were catapulted from the floor out of the laboratory.
"Whaaaaaaoooooohhhhh!" They screamed, as they plunged to their deaths. Thankfully, they landed exactly where the pillow factory was.
Spitting the feathers out of his mouth, Villager said, "What the heck?"
"Sorry. I forgot to tell you he did that." Mario said. They exited the pillow factory. Well, they were more chased out by security than anything. But, details, details.
"So... What do we do now?" Link asked, rubbing his butt. Like I said, details details.
"While you wait for the vehicles to be built, why don't you get some training at the racetrack? I'll get some people to help you learn." Mario said. "As for me..." He put on his doctor uniform. "I have some... Business to attend to." With that, he left the two of them there, speechless.
"Well, you wanna go?" Villager said.
"Sure." With that, they left for the race track. "I did not expect my day to go like this."
"Neither did I." Villager said. "Neither did I." Everything is more dramatic if they repeat it twice.
Neither of them had ever really been to the community racetrack before, because they both thought it was, to be frank, lame. There was an area where you registered your name, and then you rented a small go-kart that went about 20mph, tops. If you didn't know, that's not fast. You would then enter a race with about twelve other people, and you would do one lap around the track. That's it. Then you're done.
So, Link and Villager didn't expect much as they entered the registration building. Inside were Rosalina and Luigi, waving at them.
"Hey guys!" Luigi said as they approached them. "We're here to train you in the ways of the kart!"
"And the motorcycle." Rosalina chimed in. "So... Who's learning what?"
"Well, I'm here to learn karting..." Villager said.
"... And I'm here for the motorcycle." Link said.
"Awesome!" Luigi said. "So I'll be teaching Villager, and Rosalina will be teaching you. We're some of the best racers you can get. Not to toot my own horn."
"Cool. But- uh... No offense, but this race track..." Link pointed to the little goomba babies racing at ten miles an hour.
"Oh, don't worry." Rosalina said. "We're not racing there..." She pulled a lever, and the ground underneath them suddenly disappeared, causing them to fall down into the Earth.
"Ohmygoshwhy." Villager screamed as he fell down into the hole. He looked underneath him and saw a huge bright light quickly approaching him. He closed his eyes as he prepared to hit the ground at any moment. But, nothing happened, and he felt his body not falling at a million miles an hour anymore.
He opened his eyes. Link had caught him using his gale boomerang, and then used the winds to soften the landing! "Ohmygosh thank you! I thought I was gonna die!"
"Well, it was nothing really." Link said, dusting himself off. "You would've just respawned anyways."
Now that the initial shock of what had just happened had worn off, they looked around. They were in the start of a huge race track with blindingly white lights. There were many twists and turns, and rainbow panels along the track. "Yoo-hoo!" Came a voice from above them.
They looked up. Rosalina was slowly floating down with a mischievous grin on her face, and Luigi was laughing, floating down on a parachute. "So... You guys had fun?"
"Well," Link said. "Considering we almost died..." He punched Luigi and slapped Rosalina. "Yes."
"Ow!" Luigi said. "Sorry about that. We forgot to give you parachutes."
"Yeah." Rosalina said. "Forgot."
"Whatever." Link said.
"So... Can we drive now?" Villager said. He pointed to two vehicles set up at the beginning of the track, a motorcycle and a kart. The kart was the same shade as Luigi's overalls, and the motorcycle was the same shade as Rosalina's dress.
"Oh, yeah!" Luigi ran up to the kart. "A beauty, isn't she? I one my first cup with this kart. Villager, you'll be riding this one."
"Cool!" Villager hopped in the kart, with Luigi sitting behind him. They took off in an instance, Luigi clinging on for dear life.
"Well that was fast." Rosalina said. "Anyways, hey Link!" She smiled at him. "Welcome to motorcycle 101! With none other than the Queen of Motercycles, me!"
"...right." Link said. He walked up to the motorcycle.
"Rosalina... Is this my training vehicle?" He asked, admiring the craftsmanship of the handlebars.
"Yep!" Rosalina walked up to him. "Now let's get the lesson started, yes?"
To be honest, Link wasn't really excited to go to the race track at first. But, being here, in a professional racetrack, with a professional vehicle beneath him for him to control... He couldn't wait to get started!
Rosalina chuckled as he started at the buttons that did various things on the bike.
"Your face says it all. Alright, let's get started!" She waved her wand and her dress disappeared, with a skin tight race suit in its place. She got on behind him. Awkward, I know.
"Just take off when you're ready, and do a few laps. I'll give you tips on the way."
Without a second thought, Link slammed on the gas, making the bike shoot forward with such velocity that Rosalina fell off.
"Oops! Sorry sorry!" He said, putting her back on the bike.
Rosalina just chuckled. "This is gonna be a long day..."
And epic training music played as Villager and Link were taught in the ways of the race. Lap after lap, their time got better and better, their reaction times to obstacles faster... But would they be ready for the big race? Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z!
What? I don't even know anymore.
Anyways, besides that last comment, everything else that that dude said was true. Eventually they were very proficient in racing.
"Whew! What a day of racing!" Luigi said as the four of them returned to the finish line. "I think you guys are ready."
"I hope so." Link said, running his sides. They hurt a LOT from Rosalina clutching him so hard. Don't take that out of context plz, especially since Villager felt the same way because of Luigi. You guys are gross. Jk love ya. Maybe. Yeah
"Get some rest tonight, pick up you vehicles tomorrow, and be prepared for the race the day after tomorrow." Rosalina said to the two of them. "If you do, then you guys will do fine." She winked, and flew away, up through the floor, leaving them. Luigi did the same with a jet pack.
"Guys?" Villager said. "Guys? We're kinda stuck down here." He sighed. "Well, they're not coming back. What should we do, Link?"
"Well, I guess we have to end off this chapter here. Next chapter well be back to our homes, because that's how our universe works." Link said.
"Alright fine with me." Villager said. "El fin."
A/N: Sorry guys, I've been very busy with school. But with winter break around the corner, and the end of marching band season even more around the corner, I'll have more time to type stories for you while still maintaining some relaxing time. But anyways, OH MY GOSH SSB Wii U is out! Soo excited! I won't get it immediately, of course, but the mere fact that it's out is amazing! With school and stuff, I actually didn't expect this day to come so quickly! Anyways, I was gonna make a Frozen based chapter involving Link celebrating theone year anniversary of the movie's release, since he's the biggest Disney fan apparently, but I can't finish it in time. And we've seen enough Link in this story for a while, and enligh Frozen just in general for a while too. For now. Maybe next year. Anyways, any corrections of suggestions highly appreciated! Until next chapter!
