A/N: Hey guys, and welcome back to another chapter! Next chapter I'll do a request, and talk about the hijinks that the other Smashers get into while the figures of authority are gone racing. And now that marching band season is over, I have time to do other stuff! So yay! Faster chapters! Hopefully. Oh, and a message to Thehobkinauthor: will do :) Anyways, to the chapter!

Chapter 16: Oh My Gosh When Will We Actually Get To Racing?

"Hey, wake up sleepyhead!"

"Mmmmphh..." Toon Link said, pushing the covers over his head.

"C'mon, you have a big day today!" Lucina said, poking his side. Zelda was off on a peace conference with other royal people, so Lucina had to wake them up today. Which sucks, for Link and Toon Link.

"Wha? Am I getting married?" Toon Link groaned under the blanket. "Not again."

"What? Anyways, no. You told me to wake you up early today! Today's the opening day of Mario Kart, and we're gonna accompany Link to Mario's house to see him off!"

"Wait... What?" Toon Link said. He got up, scrambling out of his bed. But he kinda failed and ended up face down on the floor.

Lucina just shook her head, and turned around. Without a word, she took a bucket of water, and a pie, and entered Link's room, closing the door behind her.

"Uh oh." Toon Link said, getting up and looking at the clock. "Rosalina told us to meet at Mario's house at nine. It's eight. I better get ready." What better way to introduce a situation than to make someone talk to themselves?

After Toon Link did all the crazy stuff teenagers do these days to get ready for a party, like, I don't know, put on lipstick and stuff, he exited his room. As he exited, he saw Lucina and Link exit his room. Both were soaking wet and had fluffy white stuff on them. Toon Link licked Link's arm. "Mm! Vanilla!" He then went downstairs to have dinner.

"I hate you." Link said, shaking himself to get the stuff off him. He really was like a dog.

"Love you too." Lucina said, chuckling. Sure, the plan to wake Link up didn't he exactly as planned, but the results were satisfactory nevertheless, even if she had to take an hour long shower now.

"I'm gonna go get ready." Link said, entering the bathroom. A few minutes later, he was downstairs, packing his belongings for the three month long tournament.

"You ready?" Link said to Toon Link. Link had no suitcases, since he had a magical pouch that never ran out of room and never got heavier. Pretty handy.

"Yeah..." Toon Link said. He was looking outside the window, at the sunrise.

"What's wrong?" Link asked, sitting down next to Toon Link on the patio.

"It's just... I'm really gonna miss you while you're gone." Toon Link said.

Link gasped. He just realized that this will be the first time during their smash career that they won't be together. "Aw, don't worry, I'll be fine! We'll only be gone for a couple months, and then we'll be right back. Don't worry. You'll be fine." Link rubbed Toon Link's hair.

Toon Link smiled. "Here. I want you to have this before we leave to go to the house." He handed him a piece of paper.

"Uh... Thanks." Link looked at the blank piece of paper.

"No, dummy!" Lucina said, coming out to the potio. She punched him in the arm, "Look on the other side!"

Link turned the paper, and saw a crudely drawn picture of what appeared to be him, surrounded by the smash youngsters. Lucina was also there, though her drawing wasn't quite as bad. At the bottom of the drawing were the words, "We'll Miss You! Go for the gold!" And the signatures of everyone in the picture.

"Wow... It's amazing..." Link was lost for felt his eyes watering up.

"We wanted to give you something to remember us bye. We got Lucina to help to." Toon Link said.

"I wrote the message." Lucina said, grinning.

That explains the proper grammar. Link said, grinning. Naw, the youngsters are smart. "T-thank you guys... I'm gonna miss you too." He took the two of them in his arms, and gave them a big hug. They stayed in that position for five minutes.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

"Uuhhhgggg... Stinking alarm clock... Five more minutes..." Villager said, rolling down his bed. Or I I like to call it, his pile of leaves. "Wait a minute... I don't have an alarm clock." He opened his eyes, and saw the mail pelican, right in front of his face.

"Beep! Beep! Beep!" The mailpelican screeched, making the Villager cringe.

"Alright! I'm up! I'm up!" Villager sat up, picking his ears.

"Good morning!" The mail carrier said, waving his wing. "Hope you had a nice sleep."

"Uh... Thanks." Villager said. "But how did you get in here?"

"Well, I may or may not be a master theif." The pelican said, smirking. "But you didn't hear it from me. Anyways, I got a letter for you." He handed him a sealed letter, which smelled like a fruit basket.

"I recognize that smell... Is that..."

"From your mom? Yes, actually. And your dad!" The pelican said. "Well, I gotta go. Letters to read and packages to peek into. See ya!" With that, he spread his wings, and flew out of the window, singing "On The Wings Of Love." If you don't know that song , that's ok. Oh, and if you're ever a mailman, don't read the letters or look at the packages. You might get arrested. You'll thank me later.

Anyways, Vullager stared at the letter in disbelief. It was tainted orange, and there was a bright, red seal on it. "My parents... I haven't gotten a letter from them since I got here!" Villager hastily opened the letter, and looked inside. There was a piece of paper (oh really?) inside. It read:

Dear Villager,

Hey, son! It's your parents! First of all, sorry for naming you Villager. I have no idea why we did that since you weren't even born in a village. But it worked out. Anyways, we received word that you will be in the next Mario Kart tournament! I remember when we would go to those tournaments years ago... And how you loved every minute of it! To think that you are finally living your dream... It makes us feel very warm inside!

Being your parents, we know how competitive you can get when you're really passionate about something, and how your placement affects your attitude about the whole thing. Just don't worry about it! Even though you're in a competition, remember that you you're with your friends, and that the goal of the whole event is to have fun.

Villager smiled. He knew that he was over-competitive, and it can sometimes repel other people from him. He was working on it, and that's what mattered.

We're really proud of how far you've come in life. I remember when you were just a baby. Our baby. And now... Now you're... On your own... Making your own stamp on the world... And as your parents... We wouldn't have it any other way. Love you! And good luck on the race!

-Mom and Dad

Villager's eyes were watering. He noticed that some parts of the paper had a different texture from the rest of the letter. Was that... dried tears? Through tears, he folded the letter. For the first time in since he got here, he actually opened the drawer given to him. He usually left everything out on the floor since it was easier for him. But this time, he opened it, and put the letter inside. It would be one of the only things to ever be put in there...

Thirty minutes later, at the Mushroom Household...

Link, Toon Link, and Lucina had just arrived at Mario's house, to find Villager knocking on the door.

"Hey, Villager! You ready for our big day?" Link said, patting him on the back.

"You bet I am! Are you as excited as I am?" He said.

"Well, I-" Link was interrupted by the opening of the door. Mario was standing there, smiling at the four of them.

"Welcome!" Mario said. He was dressed in his pajamas.

"Wait... You're still in your pajamas?" Toon Link asked.

"Aren't you supposed to be ready?" Lucina asked.

"Well, yeah, but we're taking private charter buses there!" Mario smiled, munching on a cookie. "We can dress in anything we want!"

"Anything?" Link asked, a smirk on his mouth. "Even in-"

"No, Link. We can't go naked."

"Dang it." Link sighed. Then he perked up. "But we don't have to go in our full clothes...?" In one swift movement, he ripped off his tunic, revealing his Frozen pajama pants and Spongebob Squarepants long sleeve underneath.

"Wow." Mario said, taking a look at Link's pajamas. "That's interesting."

"Yeah... You get used to it." Lucina said, putting on Link's hat and tunic. "Oh, I look good in this! I think I'll keep this."

"Whatever, I have sixty eight more pairs in my closet." Link said, taking a cookie from Mario's offering hands.

"Uh... I think I'll stay in my clothes, thanks." Villager said, scooting a few steps away from Link.

"That's fine. It's not required to be in pjs. Most of us just find it more comfortable." Mario took a sip from his coffee mug. The words "Big Man" we're on it. "Oh! What am I doing! Come in! Everyone's here already! We set up a breakfast table and everything!"

"Free food!" Toon Link's eyes shone. "Count me in!" He burst past Mario, riding his trusty pig.

"Wait for me!" Villager followed behind on his Lloyd Rocket.

Toon Link hopped off his pig and onto the long table where the food was. He grabbed a plate and started grabbing eggs, hash browns, pancakes, waffles, muffins, and all sorts of stuff guaranteed to not get you fat. Yep. After he filled three plates to the brim with food, he sat down on the couch and started eating as fast as he could.

"Hey, Toon Link!" Came a voice to his left. In his eating frenzy, he didn't realize that Villager had walked up to him. He finally looked around the room, and saw that everybody in Mario Kart were there two. It was almost like a party. In pajamas. With breakfast.

At the coffee stand, Link was with Yoshi and Waluigi. Link was telling him about old memories with Yoshi, and Yoshi also followed Link whenever he was around. All because of their time together in Subspace Emmisary.

Lucina was having a civilized conversation about royal politics with Bowser. He could really clean himself up and was actually a decent person when he wasn't stealing Peach.

It was a pretty fun gathering.

"Ahem!" Mario tapped his mug with his spoon to get everyone's attention. It didn't work. Then Link tried. He broke the mug.

"HEY! EVERYONE SHUT UP!" Peach yelled. It grew dead silent as Peach stared around the room, her face red. Her bright red nightgown made her even scarier. "Thank you!" She said, sitting down.

"Well, yes... Thank you, Peach." Mario said. "And you too, Link." Link sheepishly grinned, holding the broken mug in his hands.

"Ahem... The buses have arrived! Get your luggage and put them on the trailer, and then enter the bus! It's two stories, and is divided into little rooms. Every room will be shared between two other people!" Mario said. "No more or less than two people in every room!"

Everyone headed out to the buses, which were right outside the house.

"Well... I guess this is it." Link said to Toon Link and Lucina. "Tell Zelda that I'll write you guys every day."

"We'll miss you!" Toon Link told him, giving him a hug.

"I'll miss you too." Link said. He walked up to Lucina and stuck out his hand. "See ya later."

"Aw..." She said, punching him on the arm. "You better win! For us! If you don't I'll personally beat you up."

Link chuckled. "You're free to try."

"Shut up!" She said, punching him again. Then she learned in and gave him a hug. "Just get outta here!" She said after she released.

Link saluted both of them, and started entering the bus. Before he closed the bus door, he turned around. They were waving at him. He waved back and closed the door.

"Now where to stay..." Link said. Mostly everyone had already chosen partners, and Link had no idea who to partner up with.

"Hey Link!" Link turned around to see Peach waving at him. She was at the doorway to one of the rooms. "Partners?"

"Uh... What happened to Mario?" Link asked, walking up to her.

"Oh, he's with Luigi, and Rosalina and Daisy are together. I don't have a partner." Peach said. "But I do now!"

"Um... Alright." Link said.

"Awesome!" She grabbed Link by the shirt, dragged him inside, and shut the door.

Link looked around the room. It really was small. But there was a mini fridge for refreshments, a TV, and a Wii U. There was also a bed in the corner, which had another bed underneath it that you pulled out.

"Well, this'll do." Link said. He plopped down on the bean bag chair in front of the TV.

"So... Whatcha wanna do?" Peach asked.

"Well I don't know about you but I'm gonna watch some TV."

"Oh! Great idea!" Peach plopped down on the bean bag chair next to him. Link turned on the TV, and Peach immediately started asking questions on everything she saw.

"Why is he so fat? Why are they shooting that guy? What's that girl doing with her lipstick? Can all canes do that?" The questions went on and on and on.

"Oh my gosh..." Link said. "How long is the bus ride?"

"About a week." Peach said, smiling.

This is gonna be a long trip... Link thought as Peach knocked him to the ground in her excitement from the movie.

A/N: So I got SSB Wii U the other day and something interesting happened. Viridi talked about Link's chiseled features! In my story, Peach also talked about Link's chiseled features. So that's two times that something I said in the story happened to be in the game itself. The first time was the swarm. Anyways, I'm thinking of starting A Smashing Time soon, so what time era should I delve into first? Suggestions and feedback appreciated! Until next chapter!
