A/N: I'm actually writing this before I even post the last chapter, because I can!
I'm watching a let's play if all five metal gear solid games, and I have to say, Snake is awesome! Solid Snake, that is. And so was Naked Snake, before stuff happened.
Anyways, another story of mine is currently in the works. It's more of like a traditional romance fanfic, but it still has some of my writing humor that all of you guys like. Or hate. (cries)
Ha, I'm just kidding. It's not about the amount of people that read or review my stories. I write my stories to entertain myself and to entertain the small amount of you guys who actually like my stuff. I know I don't mention many names most of the time, but I'll make an exception this time. Thanks to all of you who gives me their input on how to be a better writer, and a special thanks to thehobkinauthor (hope I spelled that right) and Mew29240! All of you guys rock, and you're all the reason I've written this far and continue to write in the future! The fanfiction community so far has been amazing to me, and even though it is usually mocked on other social media websites, the people here seem so much nicer than the people on youtube and stuff.
Now, with that random burst of thankfulness out of the way, to the chapter!
Chapter 35: Mt. Silver's Note
The smashers spilled out of a portal at the base of Mt. Silver one by one.
"Alright guy, the portal will stay as long as E. Gadd is at the control panel, so take your time!" Mario said. "But don't slack off! Check every neck and crevice for any sign of Red! Oh, and it starts to snow a few hundred feet up, so make sure you guys wear the sweaters I told you guys to bring!"
The smashers got down to business. TO DEFEAT... THE HUNS!
I'm pretty sure I've made that joke, like, five times in this story already, but whatever.
Rosalina was looking under a rock when she heard Roy singing something in Japanese. "What song is that? It sounds so cool!"
Roy laughed. "It's actually the Full House theme song in Japanese."
Rosalina stared at him in disbelief. "... ... You're weird."
He beamed. "Thanks!"
Elsewhere, Pikachu and Samus were checking out a nearby patch of snowy grass. Berries deep within the bush was a shiny green stone with a flash of yellow right in the center of it.
"Oh? What's this?" Samus asked, turning it over in her hand.
"Pika?" Pikachu approached it and touched it. Immediately, he started glowing bright light, and his form started to change.
"What's going on?" Samus asked.
Suddenly, a Pokemon trainer flew in from the air. "NOOOOOOO!" He took out his pokedex and started pressing the "B" button like crazy. "You can't evollllllllvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee!"
"What is going on?" Samus asked. When the light had cleared, Pikachu was still Pikachu, and nothing seemed to have changed. Except that the stone was now gone.
The trainer turned to her. "The name's Ash! Future Pokemon Champion! Nice to meet you, sir!"
Samus sighed "Sir... Right... Hey, you don't happen to know Red, do you?"
Ash thought for a bit. "Um, no, but-"
"Then you're no use to us!" Samus picked him up and threw him off the mountain. "That's what you get, you lame, over-spoken, anime loser!"
"I'll get you back for this! I'll get more anime characters to destroy you, you'll see!" Ash yelled as he flew down the mountain. A staraptor caught him, and he flew away.
Samus just shrugged and continued her search.
Nearby, Lucas, Ness, and Toon Link were having an stealth battle. You get hit with a snowball, and you're out. Last one standing got the title of "Frozen Snake."
Ness was hiding within a pile of snow when he saw Toon Link walk by. "The perfect target..." He cautiously crawled out of the snow, and walked silently towards Toon Link. Just as he was about to shove a snowball down Toon Link's shirt, he heard a voice from behind him.
"Freeze!" Ness screamed and put his hands up. Toon Link turned around too, but his snowball was knocked out of his hands. "I heard someone's after my name..."
"Oh! Snake!" Ness nervously said. "Um, we didn't mean it like that! It was just a name!"
"Uh huh. You can come out now, Lucas." Snake said.
"Ok..." Lucas appeared from right underneath Toon Link, making him scream and trip.
"Now, I'm here to make sure that nobody but me has my name. No matter what the cost." Snake raised two snowballs and took aim.
Ness and Toon Link closed their eyes and braced for impact, but nothing hit them. When they opened their eyes, Snake was behind them, digging something out of the snow. "What happened, Snake?" Lucas asked.
"I saw something here... Something that doesn't add up..." He kept digging, and eventually, he found a small, red piece of paper. "Red... You think it's from this 'Red the Best' fella?"
Ness nodded. "Why don't we read it then?!" He grabbed for the letter.
"Alright, alright!" Snake cleared his throat. "Here's what it says:"
Are you really that stupid? Check your numbers.
-The Eon Obeva Eveeyron Ucrtrnely Vligin.
"You've got to be kidding me..." Snake said. "Another scrambled signature? Kids, I need you to call Link and Marth and bring them here, quickly!"
"Y-yes sir!" The three kids said. They ran off and returned five minutes later with Marth, Lucario, and a couple other people.
"Where's the note?" Marth asked. Snake handed it to him, and he read it aloud once more.
"Check our numbers?" Marth asked. "What does that mean?"
Link suddenly gasped. "Oh no..." He looked around and realized that Toon Link and Snake, who had just given them the note, was missing. "Marth, stage an emergency roll call now! Get everyone to this spot here. I'm taking a small group of people to help me analyze the signature."
"Right!" Marth and Link did a quick bro handshake and went to do their jobs.
"Alright... Zelda!" He pointed at her with his one good hand. "You're with me. So are you, Lucina. And... Mario, Ness, Pikachu, and Kirby. Let's head down a level on the mountain so that we aren't distracted by the roll call going on nearby."
"Alright, let's go." Zelda said, nodding. "Oh, I have a meeting soon, I hope we finish this whole mess up quickly..."
Link sighed sadly. "You always have a meeting soon..."
The seven of them went down a level in the multi story mountain, close enough to hear what was going on a story up, but far enough away that they wouldn't have to listen to the chaos.
Meanwhile, Lucario, Villager, and Megaman were going from house to house, searching the rooms of those who had refused a search earlier. They had just finished going through Peach's room.
"Anything suspicious?" Lucario asked.
"Nah, but I did find a large amount of pictures of a certain hyrulian..." Villager said.
Lucario shrugged. "Eh, it's probably nothing. Zelda and Peach are great friends."
"They're not of Zelda..." Villager said.
Megaman interrupted them. "Hey guys! Look what I found!" He was outside, holding another note in his hand. "I found it on the sidewalk."
"Give me that!" Lucario snatched the note and read it out loud.
The Signature WAS fake. We took Pit. Are you ready for what's next? Better check on your newest newcomer... As well as the old but kinda new newcomers. And the old smashers... Kinda confusing, but you guys seem smart, so you'll get it, I say menacingly.
Pit has lost his will the escape, the others are still confused as to what happened to them.
-The Eon Obeva Eveeyron Ucrtrnely Vligin
"I knew it!" Lucario cheered. "Red didn't do it!"
"That's great and all..." Villager said, "but I'm more worried about the rest of the letter. The newest newcomer?"
Megaman gasped. "That must be Ryu. And the old-but-kinda-new-newcomers must be Roy and Lucas! Oh, and Mewtwo. I mean, they technically are new to the game, but they aren't new to smash!"
"Oh! So that must mean that the old smashers must refer to the old people!" Villager said.
Megaman shook his head. "I think that the sender is actually referring to the smashers who aren't smashers anymore. Let's see... that would be the Ice climbers, Snake, Wolf, young Link, Pichu, and... Red himself!"
"Oh no... So that means that they're all in danger! It was a trap!" Lucario yelled. "We gotta get to the portal, now!" They ran out of the house and scrambled towards the portal to Mt. Silver on the other side of town as fast as they could.
Meanwhile, Marth was panicking, badly. His roll call only proved that the note was from the sender, as tons of smashers were proved to be missing.
"So, we're missing Young Link, Toon Link, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Snake, Popo, Nana, Wolf, Ryu, Mewtwo, Lucas, and Roy. Oh, and Lucario, Villager, and Megaman. Where could they have gone?!" Marth was sweating like a machine gun. If machine guns could sweat.
"That's a big problem!" Mario gasped. He and the other unscramblers were listening from the lower level.
"Wait, Peach is missing too? NOOOOOO!" Link screamed.
"Wait, why are you specifically sad because Peach was kidnapped?" Zelda asked, glaring at him.
"Yes, please explain..." Mario growled.
Link blushed. "Well... She's very dear to me..."
"Argh! I knew it!" Zelda screamed. "That freaking-"
"Yeah..." Link put his head down. "Cookie's actually really important to me, and Peach is taking care of her today! Oh no..."
"Wait, Cookie is the one who you're worried about?" Zelda asked. "Oh thank goodness!" Lucina sighed in relief as well. Link was blissfully unaware of the heart attacks he almost caused.
"I actually don't recall seeing Lucario, Megaman, and Villager at all while we were searching. I saw the rest at least once." Ike, who had been helping him take roll call, said.
"Hmm... Maybe the portal messed up and sent them to the wrong place?" Marth asked. He looked down the mountain, towards the base, where the portal was located. When he looked at it, a couple sparks flew out of it, and then it started shrinking. Surprised, he called to Mario, who was lower on the mountain with the other signature unscramblers. "Um, Mario?"
"Yeah?" Mario called up. "What is it?"
Marth pointed to the portal. Couple hundred feet away. "Is the portal supposed to do that?"
Mario looked at the portal really closely, and started to panic. After confirming what he saw with Link's eagle eye, he called out to everyone. "Guys! The portal is shrinking! If we don't get back there in time, we'll be stuck here!"
"Ah (hoover) dam!" Marth growled. "It was a trap!"
Pit spoke up. "But, what about the missing smashers?"
"We'll all be missing if we don't start running NOOOOWW!" Mario, Link, and the rest of the smashers who were one floor below decoding the signature started running down the mountain, followed by the rest of the smashers. Some, like Meta Knight, tried flying down, but the winds up there were too strong.
The signature unscramblers made it down first. When they arrived at the base, the portal was barely big enough for a hylian to walk through. The portal was still a hundred feet in front of them.
"Keep running!" Mario yelled. They could hear the steps of the rest of the smashers higher in the mountain as they bolted for the portal.
"Man, am I glad Peach healed my leg first..." Link muttered.
The portal was shrinking faster and faster, and soon it wasn't much bigger than Kirby.
"Alright! We're gonna have to dive through!" Mario said to the people behind him. "Except for Kirby, of course." Mario did a baseball-slide into the portal, followed by Ness, Pikachu, Kirby, Lucina, Zelda, and Link, who managed to enter the portal right as it disappeared.
Back at Smash City, Lucario, Villager, and Megaman made it to the portal, just as Mario, Ness, Pikachu, Kirby, Lucina, Zelda, and Link spilled out. The portal shutdown right after.
"Lucario?" Mario asked. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, we suspected that this whole thing was a trap, and stayed behind!" Villager said.
Lucina gasped. "So... You let us just walk into a trap? How could you?!"
Lucario sighed. "I thought that you'd throw me in jail if I said anything..."
Megaman smiled. "Hey, at least you guys made it back alright!"
Lucina shook her head. "We did, but..." He looked at the empty portal. "The rest of the smashers are still in there..."
"What?!" Lucario growled. "And without E. Gadd or Samus to fix it..."
"That's right." Mario said. "The rest of the smashers are stuck in the Pokémon universe... possibly forever."
