A/N: Guess what? Another break from SherLucario! Hehe, sorry. But this'll be the last one, I swear! And that's not just because the next chapter of SherLucario will be the last one.

That's actually the exact reason.

But I digress. Are you ready for a spoopy story? Or maybe you'd prefer a spooky story. I dunno.

About this being uploaded a day after Halloween… My bad. I was kinda packed all of halloween day, so I had no time to do it. At least I'm not that late.

Anyways, hope you enjoy! Some potentially scary stuff ahead, so be warned! I mean, I can't really judge what's scary, because I'm a wimp when it comes to these things. Either way, to the chapter!

Chapter 42: Intro

Hey, I'm not dead. Well, technically I am, but I can still do stuff and move. I'm usually an angel, but today I'm being my favorite superhero, Captain America! My name is Pit. And this is the story of how, on Halloween, I got high!

By high, I just meant that I flew 10,000 feet up into the air to commit sky graffiti. I got to spray paint a picture of dinosaurs!

I don't mean to toot my own horn, but my graffiti skills are superb. Almost as good as my skills in battle! There's nothing stronger than the strength of a full stomach! And for my accuracy, nothing helps train your nerves like origami! My favorite things to make are Pokemon! Although, the one Pokemon I always found hard to make is Charizard.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell the Halloween story! Well you're in for a wild ride, so buckle in, kiddo! Oh, but before I start, you better read my warning hidden in the last letter of every sentence (including this one) of this intro before it's too late for you...

HAAA! GOTCHA! Scared yet? No? Dang. Well, I give up. Just get to the freaking short stories already.

Chapter 42-1: The Friend

Lucas was a kind-hearted boy who had a great sense of humor buried deep inside him, if anyone cared enough to dig for it. Unfortunately, he was very timid, and because of that, he didn't have very much friends for a long time when he first arrived in Smash-City. But that didn't stop him from being optimistic about meeting his first friend soon.

One day, as Lucas was watering his garden, a small, frail girl who was just about as big as him walked up to him. She asked him what he was growing, and Lucas reluctantly showed her his pride and joy. She was very impressed and asked if she could help with the garden.

And so, for the next few days, Lucas would receive help from the small girl. Everyday he would start with asking her for her name, and she would refuse. Lucas sensed a kind of mystic and wise presence around her, and he thought that she really was more than she seemed to be. They would water the plants and plant seeds, and everyday he would give her one of his flowers. He gave her tulips, daisies, roses, carnations… The list goes on and on. However, the one flower he refused to give up was his sunflowers, of which he prized above all else.

One day, the small girl stopped showing up to help, and Lucas got really worried. The day after her disappearance, he got a letter from the girl. Again, she refused to give him her name, but Lucas knew it was her because of the abundance of flowers hastily glued onto it. On the letter, it said that she was sick and had to stay in the hospital for a while and not to worry about her. The news shocked him, and he wanted to go visit her, but she specifically asked him to not visit him for at least a week, as she would not accept visitors until a week had passed.

And so, Lucas waited a week for her to come back. When the eighth day started and there was no sign of the girl's return, Lucas ran to the hospital as fast as he could. He carried one of his beloved sunflowers with him. When he arrived, he asked the lady at the counter to see a small girl with brown hair and piercing black eyes. To his surprise, the lady said that nobody was checked into the hospital at this moment. Lucas insisted that there was a small girl here, and that there must be some kind of mistake. The lady pulled up the hospital database and let Lucas looked through the past patients. He couldn't find her.

Exiting the hospital, Lucas felt hopeless. Where has she gone? Did she lie to him? Was she...sick of him? With tears, he threw the sunflower he was carrying across the street, and someone was waiting there to pick it up. He looked up and, surprise! It was the girl! Lucas smiled and called out to her, to which she responded by waving him over. He started running over when she started to run away from him playfully.

Lucas followed her up and down the streets, and eventually led him back to his flower beds. However, to his surprise, she kept on running over to the back of his house and beyond. Reluctantly, he followed her. She walked up hills and down ravines, and as Lucas kept walking, the girl's laughs got fainter and fainter. As he walked, he found various items; a pink comb with a flower on it, a purple beanie, a small ball...

Finally, he made it to the girl, or, at least, a picture of a girl. Horrified, he looked down and saw a gravestone underneath the small picture frame of her.

They laughing had stopped, and Lucas found himself in complete darkness with the graveyard of his only friend. Yep. Quite a way to spend a day.

Usually he would scream and run away. In fact, even today he isn't sure why he didn't. But instead he lit up his finger with his powers and shone it on the grave. Her name... He couldn't make it out. It was already worn away. Go figure. Then he checked the day of death and screamed again. The day read June 06 2006... One day before he met him.

Chapter 42-2: The Beast

"This just in, another house has been destroyed tonight. Again, claw and bite marks have been found all around the place, leading police to conclude that it was some sort of wolf that caused this attack and the ones before them. Will we ever find the so called beast? Stay tuned to find out."

Zelda turned off the TV and sipped tea from her cup. "Wow! I can't believe it! If this wolf isn't found soon, we might have to go look for it ourselves. Although I wouldn't want to look in a storm like this."

Link, who was watching with her, nodded solemnly. "Yeah... Excuse me for a minute." He got up and walked into his room. The second he reached it, he could feel his body lurch forward.

"Argh!" He fell onto the floor. "I can't believe it happened again..." He slowly dragged himself up and walked to the bathroom. With tingling arms, he washed his face. Looking into the mirror, he swore he saw his wolf form for a split second when lightning struck.

"Just ease your nerves, Link... You'll get through this... Once tonight is over, October will be over, and the wolf episodes will stop."

This happened every year. In October, he would randomly turn into a wolf and do wolf things while asleep. Nobody knew about it. Usually nothing bad came of it, but this year was different for some reason.

Of course, he would wake up wherever he slept the night before, like every year. Link's guess was that he went out, ravaged a house or two, then went back home. He really wanted to tell someone, but was scared to do so. Why? Well... I guess that's something that only Link truly knows.

That night, Link decided to not sleep at all. Or at least, he would try again. He swears he's had, like, twenty all-nighters this month, but apparently he was wrong because houses were still being ravaged by him.

He tries to preoccupy his night with Pixar movies, but stopped after Toy Story 3 because he was crying too hard. Then, he tried to play video games, but decided that Splatoon wasn't such a good idea when he could transform at any minute. He went back to Disney movies, but decided not to because all he had was Beauty and the Beast.

After all of the not-watching of movies and not-playing of video games, Link was tired. After all, his ratio of hours of sleep to weeks was negative. Don't know how that happened.

"Maybe I could just a lay down for a little bit…" Link said. Laying down on the couch, he closed his eyes for what he thought would be five minutes.

Now, I know all of you are thinking "You fool! You'll fall asleep if you do that!" But for the sake of plot, and because a lot of scary stories are cheesy, he did it anyways.

When he awoke, he was met with quite a sight. Complete darkness. After a few seconds of confusion, he found out that he was just surrounded by rubble.

"Uh oh. This can't be good…." Link said to himself as he pushed the pieces of wood and stone off of him. When he finally reached air, he saw news trucks all over, reporting on his broken home. Zelda, Lucina, and Toon Link had all made it out safely, and they seemed to be searching in the pile of rubble. Took Link eventually saw him and yelled out. "There he is!"

"Link! We found you!" Zelda cried, running up to him. She helped him get the rest of his body out from the rubble. "I'm so glad you're okay! We all made it out as the house was collapsing, but you were nowhere to be found!"

Link nodded gravely. "But our house…"

"Yeah… It's a real shame about that. I wish they would just catch that beast already." Lucina sighed.

"They're about to catch him." Link said.

"What?"

Link, body shaking, took a deep breath. In a shaky but loud voice, he called for the attention of all the police and reporters. "People of Smash-City! I have a n announcement to make! The horrible beast that has destroyed dozens of homes and has caused so much damage, the beast that has evaded your capture shall evade your capture no more! Because I, Link, am the beast you seek! Take me away, so that no more will have to suffer by my hand."

And so, the police reluctantly handcuffed him and locked him in a cell. His trial was to be the day after his arrest.

The cells were lonely. Everyone was too afraid of the smashers to commit any crimes, so Link was completely alone. After thirty minutes, Zelda rushed in with a look of serious concern.

"Link! What do you mean you're a beast? I mean, you are a beast, but only figuratively, not literally!"

Link sighed. "I suppose I should tell you. Every year on October, I randomly revert back to wolf form during the nighttime. I can't control what I do during my time as a wolf, which is why I destroyed those houses.

Zelda gasped. "Wait, is that why you think you did it? Link, this only proves your innocence!"

Link looked at her. "What?"

"I know you turn into a wolf every October. Midna told me a while back."

"What?"

"Yeah! Whenever you turn into a wolf, you come and sleep with me on my bed! Even tonight, you slept on my bed. It was quite adorable."

"WHAT?" Link couldn't contain himself. "So that means I'm not the beast?"

Zelda laughed. "Far from it. You're a sweetheart, Link."

The Hero laughed. "Aww… Wait." Link put his hand on his head. "If I'm not the beast, then that means that the real beast is still out there."

Zelda laughed again. "No, he's not. Or shall I say… She's not."

Link looked at her quizzically. "What do you mean?"

Zelda smiled a devilish smile. Link looked into her eyes, heard growling, and saw only blackness.

Chapter 43-3: PARTY!

"Pit! That story was mean!" Lucas sniffled. "I almost peed my pants!"

"Yeah! And who are you calling me a hairy beast?" Zelda snapped.

"Hey! I may have called you a beast, but I never called you hairy!" Pit responded.

"Well, what kind of animal growls but doesn't have fur?"

Seamus spoke up. "Technically, all mammals have fur, so…"

"You know what I mean!" Zelda said.

"Relax, Princess! At least you survived the story." Link said.

"Well, I never said you died. Maybe you just became blind from Zelda beast-iness." Pit chuckled. Zelda punched him.

"I personally Falcon-loved the stories." Captain Falcon said. "But I Falcon-love everyone, because I'm just a nice guy!"

"Alright, alright. Enough of-a the spooky stories. " Mario said. "Now it's-a time for the costume contest!"

And as all the smashers lined up to present,

Some costumes just sucked, while others, they wrecked.

Who won the costume contest that day?

Was it Peach and Mario, who both dressed as clowns? Or was it Sonic, who wore a blue gown?

Maybe it was Marth, who looked like Phoenix Wright. Sadly, he did not, try as he might.

It does not matter who won that day, because at the end of the day, everyone was so gay (happy).

Happy Halloween to all, and to all a good fright!
