A/N: Ok, so this arc may involve Nintendo franchises other than the ones in Smash. Think of this next arc not as a smash bros fanfic, but as a Nintendo fanfic. Anyways, I hope you enjoy what I have planned!

WARNING: May contain spoilers to the following games: Splatoon, Splatoon 2. Also, you may want to reread the sunken scrolls from the two games to understand the chapter in full. Not required, but highly recommended.

To the chapter!

Chapter 59: War Against The Swarm Prologue

Zelda barged into the smash coliseum's conference room, where a meeting between the top smashers were being held. As expected, all but two of the elite smashers were present. "Any leads on the whereabouts of Link?"

Samus shook her head. "I'm afraid not. I've spent all day reaching out to everyone in the Nintendo universe I could think of. Nothing. Mario has been informed on this, but with Peach still in Bowser's custody, his first priority is saving her before Bowser can force her into marriage."

"Has Lucina woken up yet?"

"We haven't checked up on her yet. She's still in the hospital."

Zelda ran out of the conference room and to the hospital. She demanded to know where Lucina was being kept, and upon entering her room, saw the blue-haired swordswoman sitting up. Her graceful, hopeful blue eyes were replaced with shaken, broken ones.

"How are you feeling, Lucina?" Zelda asked, embracing her.

"...I've been better." She said, shivering. "I still can't get my head around what exactly happened. It's crazy…"

"Well, what did happen?"

"I don't remember every detail, but me and Link were training when all of a sudden this dark purple cloud surrounded us. Even though we were standing right next to each other, I couldn't find Link in the cloud. I ran and ran and ran, and eventually, this voice spoke to me. I don't remember what it said, but when it talked, images filled my head… terrible, terrible images."

Zelda patted Lucina on the back. "There, there. The darkness is gone now."

Lucina sniffled. "Yeah… anyways, I blacked out soon after that, and then woke up here about an hour ago."

"That's all you remember?" Zelda asked.

"Yeah… you think this is that same thing that attacked us all those months ago? The swarm?"

"It might be too early to say… I hope Link is alright."

Lucina's looked at Zelda quizzically. "Where's Link?"

Meanwhile, in an extremely fresh countryside…

"Ah! Doesn't it feel good to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, cuz?"

"Yes it does. I'm glad that we're finally getting to spend some time together after such a long time being apart."

"Yeah, it was SERIOUSLY unfresh of DJ Octavio to brainwash me."

"Well, maybe next time you shouldn't put on sunglasses with Brain Control Inc. branded on the lens."

"THEY LOOK GOOD ON ME, OK?"

"Whatever you say, Callie."

Callie and Marie, AKA the Squid Sisters. After Agent 4 freed Callie from the clutches of DJ Octavio, the pair have decided to revisit Calimari County together. Callie said it was to pay homage to the origin of the Calamari Inkantation. Marie said it was to reconnect to their old way of life, before they hit stardom. In a way, they were both right.

"Look, there's the village!" Callie said, pointing to a collection of huts. At the front of the village were two statues, one for each of them. As the bus slowed down to a stop, a large crowd (consisting of everyone in the village) surrounded it. The pair stepped out and were greeted with cheers and hugs from everyone in the village.

Callie and Marie greeted everyone by name, fueled by nostalgia. People they hadn't seen in years made their way into the minds of the two stars, as if they had never left.

Lastly, the two greeted their grandfather, Captain Cuttlefish.

"Gramps! It's so good to see you again!"

"Same goes to you two!" The captain said. "When I told everyone of your arrival, the whole village danced for a week straight! We're all excited to have you two here again! Here, let's take you to your living quarters."

Captain Cuttlefish led the two down the road and towards a decently-sized hotel a few miles away. Along the way, the two pointed at every corner, remembering an old memory they had at that spot. They eventually made it to the hotel, and when they went to open the door, Cuttlefish insisted that he stand behind them. Opening the door, they were greeted with a male inkling, about the same age as them, with blue eyes and flowing blonde tentacles for hair. He was wearing traditional Calimari County garb (think traditional Chinese robes).

"Um, excuse me?" Callie said, eyeing the inkling in confusion. "This is our room."

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" The inkling said, blushing profusely. "I must have the wrong room! Excuse me…"

"Oh no, son. This is the right room." Cuttlefish said, stepping out from behind the Squid Sisters and into the inkling's view. "I told you I'd be here on time, didn't I?"

The inkling boy looked at Cuttlefish in confusion. "I thought we were just gonna have our weekly jam session. Who are these two?" He said, looking at Callie and Marie. "Wait a minute, they look just like the statues at the front of the village!"

"Yep! These are the one and only Squid Sisters!" Captain Cuttlefish said proudly.

"Wow, Mr. Cuttlefish here told me about you two! You're legends!" The inkling boy said excitedly.

Callie and Marie smiled. "Thanks, kid. And who are you?"

"Oh, that doesn't matter. I'm nobody." The boy said.

Marie noticed that there was an ocarina hanging on his waist.

"Hey, cmon now." Callie said. "We know everyone from this place. We lived here for years. I consider it a duty of sorts to stay connected with this place, and that includes you. So, give us the deets. How long have you been here, and what's your name?"

The blonde inkling nodded slowly. "Ok. My name… is Link, and I've been living in Calimari County for three months."

To be continued…
