Tsuyoi P.O.V
Throughout the morning, I was out of it. Of course, I still paid attention in class, but not as well as I usually did (which may or may not have had to do with me not being able to take my pre-class nap or drink coffee). Luckily, there weren't any announcements about a student of Namimori being killed, nor any calls to the office about any family situations, so I was keeping my hopes up.
However, I couldn't help but notice I wasn't the only student that wasn't paying attention as a lot of my classmates kept on muttering and snickering about something, while occasionally glancing at me. It wasn't my uniform, I made sure this one didn't have any coffee stains. And my zipper wasn't undone, nor my underwear showing as I was wearing a belt, so I didn't really understand what was up.
By the time lunch time came around, the whispers hadn't stopped. If anything, they had multiplied. Sasagawa-kun didn't notice anything different, too busy helping me find my cousin by constantly swiveling his head to try and spot him. I needed to know that he was okay, or at the very least not dead. 2 pairs of eyes are better than one.
We were so focused in our search for a head of spiky chestnut brown hair we didn't notice the confused murmurs around us until a random classmate of ours approached us, a curious expression on their face.
"Hey, what are you guys still doing out here? Shouldn't you be at the gym?" Huh? Why would we be there?
"Um, is there something happening in the gym," Sasagawa-kun asked, while I was internally panicking.
Please don't let it be a surprise assembly announcing that my cousin has died in a car crash. Please don't let it be a surprise assembly announcing that my cousin has died in a car crash. Please don't let it be a surprise assembly announcing that my cousin has died in a car crash.
" Uh, yeah! Your cousin is fighting Mochida Kensuke for Kyoko-chan's honor, since, y'know, he confessed to her in his boxers. He really is a Dame-Tsuna." Wait, he's okay?
"WOW! That sounds weird to the EXTREME! Amano-kun, why didn't you say that your cousin was a pervert?" Um, that can't be right. While I was relieved, I was still perplexed as the Tsunayoshi that I know wasn't even able to properly talk to anybody, let alone confess to a girl. There must have been some sort of misunderstanding. But…he was in his underwear. That's definitely weird.
"…Let's just go to the gym Sasagawa-kun. I'm sure there's more to the story. My cousin isn't that strange." Hopefully. Maybe he thought he was in a dream? Which of course brings up even more questions. Yeah, I'd rather not think about that.
This time, it was my turn to drag Sasagawa-kun away. Even though we were quite a ways away, now that we weren't so focused on finding Tsunayoshi-kun, we were able to hear a commotion from the direction of the gym. Lots of shouting and a familiar-
"HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Yep, now that was definitely my cousin, and he sounded like he was in a panic (which he seemed to be in a constant state of). I should probably help him with whatever mess he is in. Decision made, I started running even faster when a gunshot rang out, clearly originating from the gym.
"Did-did somebody just…get shot?" What on Earth? I thought that Mochida Kensuke challenged him to a kendo match, since he's, y'know, leader of the kendo club? So why on Earth was there a gunshot?
"Whoa! That match sounds like it's getting EXTREME! Wait, Amano-kun, why're you rushing to the window? H-hey, maybe you shouldn't-" If I were thinking more rationally, I probably would have listened to Sasagawa-kun and not jumped out the window from the second floor up, but my protective instincts (which were usually only reserved for coffee) were screaming at me to hurry the f*** up and rescue my cousin from the bastard who wasn't even fighting fair, to begin with.
If he hurt my cousin there was going to be hell to pay.
Of course, I'd never done anything like this before, so I wasn't exactly sure how to land without hospitalizing myself again.
There were quite a few video games I recalled where the character landed on the balls of their feet first and finished with a squat, so that's what I attempted to do. I managed to do the first part but I ended up in a crouch, hands slamming onto the ground to help stabilize me. I quickly bounced back up from my landing and started sprinting towards the gym. My ankles screamed loudly in pain and my wrists were throbbing, which I labeled as little damage, considering I didn't have any clearly broken bones.
"AMANO-KUN, YOU'RE LIVING LIFE TO THE EXTREME BUT TRY NOT TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK NEXT TIME!" I glanced over my shoulder to Sasagawa-kun, but he had already started to make his own way down, which did not include jumping out of the window.
Eh, no promises Sasagawa-kun.
Finally, in what seemed like forever I finally arrived at the gym, muscles tensed in preparation of a fight. There was a silver-haired student (looks like Sasagawa-kun had a twin) at the doors to the gym, but I ducked around him and (literally) ripped open the doors to the gym, to see an unlikely sight.
Tsunayoshi-kun (still in his boxers for some reason, he should really get dressed) was standing victoriously over a sobbing and bald Mochida Kensuke, hair strands scattered around the two. He was even talking to Sasagawa-chan, who actually looked pleased to see him! Nobody inside the gym had noticed me, too shocked by the fact that Tsunayoshi-kun won, so I counted that as a win.
Unfortunately, that didn't mean I went unnoticed by the teen standing next to me in shock. Hastily, I dropped the broken parts of the door that was still in my hands and started stuttering an excuse out.
I don't want even more people pestering me! I already had enough by being related to Shizuo-san, I can only imagine how they'd be if they knew I had the same strength as he did!
"U-um. Wow! That door is- it's, um, quite fragile! They really need to replace old parts so stuff like this doesn't happen again! It was weak as paper!" His eyes widened even more at the last sentence, but thankfully, I spotted a familiar head of short white hair quickly closing in in the distance.
"Oh, thank kami," I whispered to myself, a relieved grin crossing my face. "Ryohei! Over here!" The boxer stopped his mad dash, shock clear as day, then started running even faster, with a grin as wide as my own.
"EXTREME! TSUYOI! WE ARE NOW BEST FRIENDS TO THE EXTREME!" Wait, why did he call me by my first na-, oh s***. I called him by his first name. Why do I function so poorly when I panic?
While Sasa- (well, since it's too late now, might as well continue to call him Ryohei) Ryohei made his way over, the formerly stupefied silver head had scrambled away from me and left the area. I didn't stop him. Less awkward conversations that way. Once Ryohei reached me though, he immediately lifted me up into a hug. Which I was decidedly not comfortable with.
"Ryohei! Stop! Put me down this instant!" Now without the distraction of my worry and rage, my injured limbs were at the forefront of my mind, and boy were they angry. I'd need to see the school nurse later. Hopefully, they won't ask how I got hurt.
"No! I'm happy to the EXTREME! I've got to tell Kyoko-chan to the EXTREME what has happened!" My body was screaming in protest, as well as my mouth. I tried kicking the boxer, but that only made me let out a small yelp of pain.
"Ni-san, what did you need to tell me?" Ryohei-kun finally put me down, a scrutinizing frown directed at me before he cheerfully exclaimed to his sister,
"Tsuyoi finally called me by my first name! We are officially best friends to the EXTREME," Ryohei shouted, arms raised joy. Sasagawa-chan clapped her hands together gently but was no less happy than her brother.
"Ni-san, I'm so proud of you! I also have good news, I made a friend! Tsuna-kun! Can you come over here?" Tsunayoshi-kun approached us, looking sheepish about his state of appearance.
"H-hai, Kyoko-chan!" Aww, they were calling each other by their first names already! Standing side by side, they made quite the cute couple. Both had a certain innocent look (which was strange as Tsunayoshi-kun was still in his boxers) and a sparkling aura. Which soon turned to shock and worry.
"Hie?! Tsuyoi-kun, what's wrong with your hands?" Ah, looking down at my wrists were pretty swollen and turning an alarming shade of red as were my fingers. Ryohei quickly grabbed them to take a look at them but jerked back when I let out a hiss of pain.
"Didn't the doctor tell you to take it easy? You just got out of your casts a few weeks ago!" He did, but he didn't know that apparently, my cousins from both sides of my family were danger-prone and this resulted in me getting injuries, whether on purpose or not.
"It's fine, I'm just going to go to the nurse's office and get them bandaged up." I started to take a step to the school's nursery when my ankles decided to betray me and I started falling. Ryohei tried to catch me but he grasped my hands once again, and upon realizing his mistake instinctively released me to the hard embrace of the floor.
"I am sorry to the EXTREME Tsuyoi! I didn't mean to do that!" I wasn't able to say anything, as my face was still planted in the pavement, but I rolled myself over so that my head was facing upwards at the concerned friend above me.
"It's fine Ryohei, just carry me to the nurse's and leave me to contemplate my life's choices." I didn't expect Ryohei to actually listen to me, but he gingerly lifted me up into his arms and started walking to the nurse's, careful not to jostle my limbs. Tsunayoshi-kun and Sasagawa-chan trailed after us, exchanging troubled looks with each other.
The sound of a bell chiming played throughout the halls, signaling lunch was over.
"You guys should return to class. Ryohei and I share the same homeroom so he'll probably be excused, but you guys are a few years under us. I'll be fine, so just go back to class." Neither looked entirely convinced, probably because I looked a sorry sight, with my numerous injuries added to the fact I was being carried like a princess. Until Ryohei turned around to glare at them, for once deadly serious about something other than boxing.
"Tsuyoi's right. I have this handled to the extreme, so go. If anything is too injured, I'll call you two back. But for now, I've got it covered." Finally, the two started walking to their classes, although they kept shooting glances back at us. Once they were out of sight, Ryohei resumed his walk, leaving us in a tense silence.
At the nurse's office, it wasn't much better. The nurse lectured me over recklessly endangering myself and how kids these days really needed to stop doing such reckless tricks to seem cool. I didn't really see any reason to stop them as that seemed like it might make them go off another tangent, so I stayed silent throughout the entire process. It got even worse though when I showed them my ankles.
After they were done rubbing a strange salve on my injuries, they then wrapped them efficiently with bandages and gave me some Tylenol. It helped slightly, but they instructed me to not do any strenuous activity for at least a month unless I wanted to screw up my body for the rest of my life. They also suggested I go to the hospital to check for any fractures in my bones just in case. To make matters worse, they were assigning me to bed rest.
So while Ryohei went back to class, with a promise of, "We'll talk about this later," I was left all alone in the nurse's office, with nothing to keep me occupied.
"Ciaossu." I turned to my left where the voice came from and saw the supposed baby mirage from this morning.
"Are you related to Heiwajima Shizuo?" Why does everybody always have to ask that?!
