It's Just Magic

Chapter 2: Got a Secret. Can you keep it?

Bloom

Lunch time at Lakewood was really busy and different and being the new girl did not help at all.

Everyone seemed to sit in particular groups, the popular group, cheerleaders and jocks, the smart kids, the music lovers, the Goths and so on. I couldn't help but feel out of place, my old school was nothing like this. Not to mention the amount of stares I received from everyone.

I saw Flora wave me over to her table, she seemed to be sitting with a girl with pink hair and blonde tips, which seems to be natural? Wow, I've never seen that type of natural hair colour, it can be natural could it? She has purple eyes too, but its probably just contacts.

"Hey!" I exclaimed sitting down with my tray of food," I'm Bloom."

"We know," said the pink haired girl.

"Don't mind Roxy she is just in a bad mood today," Flora rolled her eyes.

"I can't believe her! Who does she think she is?" snapped Roxy out of nowhere.

"Who?" Flora questioned, and Roxy sent a seething glare to a dark-blue haired girl, who had her headphones plugged in no doubt listening to music and unaware of her surroundings.

"Musa? Why are you pissed at Musa?" Flora seemed confused, but not more than me.

"The other day, when she was performing at the bar, her and Andy seemed pretty flirty, she better know he has a girlfriend, if not I'll gladly remind her-" Roxy stood up from her chair angrily, looking like she was about to kick Musa's teeth in, only for Flora to hold her back.

"Woah, woah, woah, calm down. I don't think Musa had any idea he had a girlfriend otherwise she wouldn't do that. We may not talk anymore but I know her well enough to know that she would never, you know that too. And it was probably just some harmless flirting, and they're probably just close you might have overthinked into it," Flora said soothingly, "but I would watch out for Andy though, this isn't the first time."

"I know, it's just you know I find it hard to trust sometimes, ever since my mum...yeah." Roxy sighed, "let's go visit him after school, I want to talk to him."

Having sat back down finally, acknowledging me, "sorry about that, by the way I'm Roxy Jones, also known as the school's 'gossip girl', anything you need to know about anyone just ask me, I can dish out information about anyone," Roxy said giving me a friendly hug.

"I'm Bloom, just moved here," I smiled back.

"Let me just give you a quick sum up of this school," Roxy said excitedly.

"No, Rox, I really don't think there's any need-" Flora began but to not use.

"Okay, so if there are 2 groups you shouldn't mess with it's that group," Roxy pointed over to the corner of the cafeteria, "and that group." Roxy's hand shifted over to the other side of the room to where Mitzi was seated.

"The Elites, the first group-" Roxy started off.

"No one actually calls them that except you, but carry on," Flora cut in to receive a glare from Roxy.

"As I was saying, are the main (and nicer) group that run this school, they are basically the rich, hot and popular. Led by Stella Simpson and her on-and-off beau (currently off) Jake, the Ken to her Barbie. Her mother created a famous fashion brand, making her automatically rich, and to add on Stella's part-time modelling career, instant popularity. Her best friend, Tecna, is the girl next to her with the short bright purple hair, is the smartest genius you'll probably ever meet. Class President, head of school council, and captain of the volleyball team, and the maths team. Then of course, Jake King, hence his nickname the King, son of billionaire parents, he has it all, smart, athletic, rich, hot, perfect girlfriend, but word has it he cheated on Stella which probably led to their most recent breakup. Then there's Marcus, the sexy brunette over there, and a couple of others I'll get to later."

"On the other side, is Mitzi's gang. Mitzi, who I've heard you've already met, basically arrived the same year as Stella (grade 7, other than a few most of us have pretty much grown up together) and since then she has always tried to rival Stella, not failing completely as she has most of the school scared shitless. Probably because she's involved in drugs and gangs (like many people here believe it or not), no surprise that she's acquainted Danny, the school's drug dealer. By acquainted I mean they hook up regularly. I know a lot about this because I'm fucking STEP-SISTERS with Brianna, her airhead of a best friend. Not only are all of them just bitches in general, they've been involved in some messed up stuff you don't even want to know about. Our poor Flora here discovered a little too much about their after-school activities, which is why Mitzi likes to give her extra-special attention. My stupid 'sister' just stands around following her orders like some slave," Roxy said in a bitter tone, though her tone colloquial, there was a strong sense of seriousness and danger to her words.

Wow, this school's not messed up at all.

"I doubt you guys would know, cause I know Mitzi's ashamed of it, but she used to be my next-door neighbour believe it or not, and I live in the 'normal' side of town. I can't believe that sweet little girl I used to play hop-skotch with went from skipping around my garden, to skipping classes and being some ruthless bitch. It's funny how money can change someone so much," I expressed, even though I haven't known these girls long, they seemed pretty trustworthy. Obviously that doesn't mean I'm going to be spilling every detail of my life out to them.

"No, trust me, it's not just the money, I overhear Brianna and Mitzi talking sometimes. It seems a bit weird that her family just got rich all of sudden, I reckon her family runs a drug business or something, well everyone lowkey thinks it, it would explain-" Roxy spoke hushed but quickly.

"Guys, can we not talk about Mitzi anymore?" Flora said quietly, a pained look in her eyes, but as she said that the sound of loud cackle-like laugh sounded from the other side of the room.

"Is that okay Mitzi?" a tall, dark-skinned, muscular boy with maroon hair and indigo eyes smirked. I turned to see a curly-haired brunette with dark skin covered in a gooey pink substance.

"That's Layla by the way, she used to be friends with Mitzi," Roxy quickly whispered.

"Perfect!" Mitzi grinned with delight as she saw Layla's face scrunch up with anger and storm up to the boy, shoving him so he fell back onto his table, before grabbing a random cold water bottle and pouring it down his shirt. Everyone chorused 'ohh' in their usual manner.

"Oh wow, the little slut actually fought back," Mitzi let out a cold laugh before stepping up from her chair. She walked up to Layla, who had turned in the other direction to leave, and pushing Layla cause her to stagger forwards.

Layla pushed her back twice as hard knocking her onto the floor," what are you going to do now? Attack me with them fake-ass nails? Throw your high heel at me? Oh wait. Or maybe get your lackeys to dr-" That seemed to struck a nerve as Mitzi lunged herself at Layla.

"Fight! Fight!" people began to chant, as they began to crowd around them, however I could make out among them the maroon-haired boy from earlier pull Mitzi off Layla. I doubt he thought it would escalate to this but still what an idiot.

A couple more people made way to try to separate the girls. Even if I tried, there was no way I could make it through everyone.

"Stupid bitch! You think that just because you left, you're done? Just know Layla that you aren't any different from me. You aren't so innocent yourself! So don't act like you're better than me!" Mitzi yelled as if it was only her and Layla there.

"Was I the one that corrupted her? Introduced her to everyone? To everything? Got her involved with it all? NO! I was the only one that tried to help her. Unlike you, who just wanted another puppet to control, and use to accompany you in your fucked up life!" Layla shouted, her mouth moving so fast, I doubt she even knew all she was saying. Everyone stood gobsmacked, even backing up a little.

"JUST SHUT UP!" Mitzi screamed throwing at chair at Layla's direction.

"Shut your damn mouth because you don't know everything that happened that night!" I could've sworn I saw water in her eyes, but before I was able to look again she spun on her heel, turning towards the doors.

"What is going on here?!" the principle came in just as Mitzi stalked past her with a bloody nose from the fight, and everyone began to scatter.

Flora, Roxy and I decided to head back to the playground before lunch ended for a while.

For a few moments, we stood there in silence, as Roxy kept glancing at Flora nervously before bursting out," I'm just going to go ahead and say it, I know this is a really sensitive topic Flo, but what really did happen with...Stacey?" Roxy shuffled awkwardly for a bit, "You don't have to say anything if you don't want to."

"Wait, I can go if you want, I mean just tell Roxy in private, you don't need to tell me we've only known each other for a day any-" I said, because it's true, I felt like I was intruding. Just as I was about to leave, Flora said softly, "no, wait. You stood up for me before, you've earned a friend for life."

I smiled as my heart warmed at her words, but before I could reply she started to speak.

"Stacey and I were like sisters. We became the best of friends from the moment we met. We were inseparable, but since middle school, it's always been clear that she's always wanted popularity. And when we began high school, last year, she fit in perfectly and soon enough she became friends with Mitzi. We were still close but barely had classes together and as time went by we started to go our separate ways. I became good friends with Roxy, and she joined Mitzi's gang. Of course that didn't stop us from talking; we would always meet up wherever and talk. By February in our freshman year, she had became pretty close to Mitzi, and from all the rumours and bits of information I received from Stacey (we rarely hid anything from each other, or so I thought), I gathered enough to know that Mitzi was pretty dangerous. So one day when Stacey showed up to school, slightly drunk and late, which was nothing like her, I tried to speak to her about it. But she got mad, and we said some things we didn't mean. I thought I knew her, but turns out even before that she had basically been skipping most classes, getting stoned, god knows what else. For a while, we didn't see each other or talk, not that we ever even crossed paths. Towards the end of the year, one night I spotted her with a dodgy guy who seemed to be giving her what I thought was drugs, I managed to hear a bit about arguing about money, and her saying she'll make it up to him. After seeing them begin to make out, I just walked away, because I was still so angry at her, and was too blinded by my anger. On same night night, at 1 am I got a call, she was high and started rambling about how she was scared and how much she messed up but at first I thought she was just high. Soon my gut instincts cut in, so I phoned her back but when she picked up, she didn't even know what she was saying, I don't think she even knew she picked up, she started laughing and babbling on, but I managed to get her location out of her." Flora took a deep breath before carrying on.

"By the time I got there, it was too late. The ambulance was there. I was too late. I didn't-I didn't save her..." Roxy and I quickly consoled her as she broke down into tears.

"Its okay, Flo, you don't have to carry on, I'm sorry for pushing you," Roxy said softly.

Flora shook her head, "no, I have to; I need to just let it out."

She managed to calm down again before continuing, "turns out the guy I saw her with then, wasn't happy with Stacey and their relationship, and he wanted money for the drugs he had supplied her with. To make things worse he had basically lost his 'job' with Mitzi's father. So when he and Stacey met up that night he must have been really angry, almost on the verge of killing her. When I saw them in that alleyway before, she was just been trying to calm him down, to give her a chance to get away, to save her life. Oh, she must have been so scared, and I wasn't there for her when she called me the first time. As I said, I came too late; I caught a glance of him before he made a run of it. He had a bloody knife in his hands. He had stabbed her over and over. He just left her there to die!" Flora choked out.

"Now, my best friend is paralyzed from the down in rehab, because they think that she was just high and got herself stabbed by a random dealer. The guy got away as his tracks remained covered, and anyone who knew him, wouldn't dare speak out. And to make things worse, she went to Mitzi for help that night, but what did she do. She turned her back on her like she meant nothing to her. Now, Mitzi acts as if nothing happened and continues to bully me every day to keep me quiet. I only managed to find this all out from Stacey from one of the few visits I'm allowed. I'm not even allowed to tell anyone or else I'm killed, or Stacey's killed, heck maybe they'll even got after my family. How is this fair? How can they all just get away with this all? I just always thought we would be able to get through at least till we were 16, finish high school together..." Flora cried, but made sure to be quiet enough so no one heard. Roxy and I hugged her tighter.

My heart broke to see her in such a broken state. She deserved so much better than this.

"And after finding out about that incident, Layla must have left," Roxy said, "that's why she doesn't want any more friends, but I doubt anyone would want to go near her unless they wanted to face Mitzi's wrath. And now after this fight, it goes on her already tainted record probably ruining her dreams of making it onto the UCLA Dance Team, and that was probably Mitzi's plan, wow."

The rest of the day, everything I had just found out on my first day never left my mind. Everyone still seemed to be reeling from lunch.

I felt my phone buzz. I saw it was a text from Andy and after everything, I couldn't find it in me to smile.

Waiting by ur car gorgeous xo

-from your amazingly cute boyfriend ;) Love ya

I quickly messaged back

Aww, can't wait to see u! Love u too handsome ;)

-B xox

The last lesson went by quick and there was still no sign of Mitzi or Layla.

"Andy!" I yelled as I ran to him. Everything from today left my mind for a split second; it felt good to be back in his arms again.

"Hey gorgeous," he said.

I saw people stare at us in the parking lot and couldn't help but wonder why. Had they not seen a couple before?

"Don't you think it's great we live so close to one another," I said as he showed me to my doorstep. I decided not to tell him about everything that happened today, I wouldn't want to break Flora's trust.

"Well I better get going, I have a late night shift at the bar, see you tomorrow babe," he said before placing a short kiss on my lips and walking towards his house which was opposite mine.

"Bye!" I blew him a kiss.

As I dug through my pockets to find my keys, I could hear my parents' familiar voices, arguing loudly? My parents never argue, it's not anything like them.

Hey guys!

Yo, I seriously thought I'd given up on this, but I don't think I ever could. Plus it's the least I could do for starting like a billion stories I haven't finished. Tbh a lot has changed over the years, I'm 14 now (can you believe it! I was like 10/11 at the start of it all), I've matured a lot but I'm still me! Fanfic has changed a lot over the years, most of my friends (except a couple) are gone, but I will always continue to love everyone and everything. Ik this is so deep, but I love you all and I'm not going to promise anything, but I will try my best to continue with this (thought I have my GCSEs this year, my school makes some of us skip yr9, which is kinda dumb, but I hope I can do it and do well, and I'll probably have an easier time at A Levels and maybe even a gap year), okay lol I'll stop there before I start blurting out my school and address. Also, I know the chapter name is a bit cheesy but #pllforever! Peace!

Until Next Time...

PS: (I'll probably be doing loads of these rants at the end) Most of the stuff I love is still the same (I lowkey still watch winx club the first seasons ofc, even the other day me and my best friend were lool the memories I miss my childhood days with disney channel and nick) but TV shows have taken over my life, like I literally started gossip girl randomly a couple of days ago (ik i'm so late but woahh its so dramatic and it actually shares some similarities with my book) and I'm still not prepared to watch the Originals finale (another great show to watch), if you got any good shows, pls recommend so I can add it to my lonngggg list. Let's not forget about movies too ofc (if you're a marvel fan holla at me so we can cry about infinity war together and fangirl over Tom Holland). Okay, I'm gonna stop my ranting here, and impatiently wait for season 2 of On My Block.
