Warning: This chapter mainly focuses on a party, and contains drug use and a lot of underage drinking is involved.
It's Just Magic
Chapter 4: Friendship is hard.
"Hey Nabu, did you plant the phone? Did Tecna find it?" Timmy questioned eagerly to the dark-skinned wizard, who had just teleported back to their 4 bedroom apartment, which was large enough to fit all six boys.
"Yeah, it was hard but I had to steal some keys from her pocket and leave it on the side to get her to see the phone. She picked up straight away, I don't know she seemed really curious," Nabu replied, as he sat down by himself on a desk chair distracting himself with the new messages on his phone.
"She might be able to piece some of it together knowing how smart she is, so when we tell her the truth, she'll be more likely to believe it," Timmy explained his plan to his fellow classmates.
"I still think the original plan of winning Stella and Tecna's trust was better. I mean you guys could've found out more information about them, be able to know of their whereabouts in case those witches attack, and they would've been even more likely to believe us when we tell them the truth. Once we had them on our side, it would've been easier to get the other 4 girls. But nooo, someone wasn't careful enough and got caught," the teenage prince Sky argued back, looking pointedly at his best friend since childhood/squire, Brandon.
"It wasn't my fault!" Brandon shouted in defence, only to be shot a death glare by his other best friend, Riven. His magenta hair spiked up in different directions, as his violet eyes reflected his annoyance.
"Yes. Yes it was, and now your phone is paying the price. Good luck patching things up with your latest fling when Tecna ends up accidentally calling her up," Timmy smirked as Brandon's face dropped.
"Guys, look. I'm only doing this mission as a favour for my grandfather. You, however, have a lot more to prove to him as this determines whether you passed or failed your second year. My granddad is giving you a second chance after you messed up your final in July. He's letting you take on this mission because he saw potential in you. Now, unless you want to be redoing last year and spending another year in school, I suggest we start thinking of a new plan and fast." These wise words came from Helia, a midnight-blue haired artist who had been helping the squad of specialists out on their mission.
He had previously attended his grandfather Saladin's prestigious school for heroes, Red Fountain, but had left after his second year to pursue his dream as an artist and attend an art school. Now one year later after finishing his junior year in his new school, his grandfather was still hoping for him to come back to Red Fountain. Helia, although reluctant as his beliefs on war and violence had changed, decided to give the school another chance by going on this mission as he enjoyed helping others and saving lives. As much as he loved art, he found Red Fountain more exciting with its missions and subjects. He decided he was going to make his choice after this mission.
"I know this is very hypocritical for me to say this but right now fighting isn't the answer. It's sleep. I'm tired as hell, we can formulate our new plan tomorrow," Riven yawned before heading towards the room he and Timmy were sharing.
"For once I agree with Riven," Timmy replied as he, Brandon and Sky followed suit heading to their rooms.
Helia sighed. He hadn't known these guys for more than a week or two (since their mission had started), they were pretty cool and they had become good friends, however they needed serious help with their team-working skills, as they argued too often. It came as a surprise to Helia, as Brandon, Sky, Timmy and Riven were as close as a squad could be, and had been roommates and classmates for two years.
Nabu was busy texting back his cousin James, who lived back on his home realm Andros, when he had received a text from someone he had only known for a day, but already despised.
Mitzi.
Party at my house now, where r u?
Nabu rolled his eyes, how was she asking him to go a party now? At 11pm?
He was about to air her message, but then contemplated it.
For one, the only reasons he became friends with this Mitzi girl was because he found out Layla hated her. Not that he had anything against Layla, but she's the princess of Andros, the same girl he found his parents are trying to set him up in an arranged marriage with. Of course, Nabu will say no, as he doesn't know her and would rather find love for himself, but if he got Layla to hate him, then the arrangement would definitely be called off.
2. Growing up, Nabu had lived in an isolated palace-like mansion, surrounded by servants. He came from the richest family in Andros. He did not grow up with real kids his age, as he should've. Even when he did meet other kids, they treated him like he was a superior and Nabu despised that. He was home-schooled, and from a young age, denied the right to a normal childhood. However, he did have his cousin, James, who was forced to follow a similar but slightly more relaxed lifestyle. James' parents, on the other hand, were around less and a lot less strict, allowing their son to go to school (private school of course for heirs and children of the elite). James was the only person he used to consider a friend, and James had also taught him to rebel from his parents and live a fun life. Because of James, Nabu was able to go to his first and last high school party.
If Nabu was being honest, that was probably one of his best experiences in life, and gave him his first taste of what life was really like being normal, as no one asked for his name. After that, he had begun to stand up his parents, asking for more freedom, in which they gradually gave. Now, here he was at 16 years old, on his way to 17, on a mission to prove to his parents and the headmaster of Red Fountain that he was fit to study at Red Fountain, and start his junior year with the rest of the specialists. Of course, he had come to an agreement with his parents that he would be taking a special class so he can continue doing magic. If this mission worked out, then he would finally get a chance to go to a school with boys his age, and follow a normal teenage life (well as normal as it could get), where no one treated him differently because of what family he came from.
Text me the address.
Nabu quickly texted back before saying to Helia," Mitzi having some party at her place, I wanna go check it out and try to experience this whole "teenage Earth life" cause if this mission fails, who knows if I'm going back to my old life."
Brandon entered back into the living room/kitchen open area," good cause I saw on some 'snapchat' app that Layla and Musa are there. I'm coming along too!" Brandon's cheery tone was odd for someone who was tired and supposedly headed off to bed.
"Yo, me too. Though I'd rather not spend the night surrounded by drunk chicks trying make out with me, any excuse to get drunk then I'm in," Riven sounded, as he went over to the fridge.
"I thought you were meant to be asleep," Helia raised an eyebrow, in which the boys shrugged in return.
"Sleep can wait," Riven said nonchalantly, putting on his new Nike trainers.
"Well have fun, but don't be calling me at 2am interrupting my beautiful sleep cause you all got too tipsy trying to ask me to pick you up," Helia smiled sarcastically, causing Riven to groan.
"Well, I'm not driving, dibs not it!" Brandon said quickly.
"I don't mind," Nabu shrugged.
"I'm going to stay here for a bit before heading to bed and try to find out something about those witches working for Valtor, which is going to be hard as we don't even know their identities. For all we know, they could be here already," Helia explained.
"Well, we know they are supposed to be seniors at Cloud Tower this year," Brandon said as he switched from his polo to a t-shirt and jacket.
"And there's 3 of them," Nabu added as he grabbed the keys to their shared car.
Everyone turned to Riven.
"What?" he asked defensively.
"Bro, come on, you know the Cloud Tower witches better than the rest of us. You sure you don't even remember a name?" Brandon questioned.
"Come to think of it... Some Lucy girl once did mention to me at some party how there were 3 witches who were 'in control' of the entire school or somethin'. Said their names were like the Trix? Or some shit. I don't know, barely remember much from that night," Riven said with uncertainty.
"Wait, the Trix? Wait! Some older witch I dated for a bit a while ago did introduce me to her friends once. I remember specifically there were 3 girls, they were sisters or something and they looked hella intimidating and their names were weird," Brandon thought hard trying to remember.
"Icy, Darcy, Stormy maybe?" Helia asked as he brought up a picture on his laptop of three menacing-looking witches with heavy eye makeup. The title of the article read, "The Trix: Cloud Tower's finest gone rogue", it was an unknown magazine that wrote this as the article was hard to find.
"They seem like the star students, why would they be working with Valtor?" Brandon said quizzically.
"It says 'gone rogue' you idiot. Plus look there it says that "these girls were pretty nasty to their classmates, and always had a lust for power according to an insider", so this probably is them as these witches dropped out of Cloud Tower at the beginning of this school year," Riven explained.
"Wait, let me see," Nabu voiced, as he approached the laptop.
"No. No." He uttered, causing Helia, Riven and Brandon to look at him in confusion.
"If this is them, then we are in soomuch trouble. I saw these three today at school, they also enrolled there today and they hang out with Mitzi," Nabu said, causing the alarmed look on his face to be replicated onto the rest of the guys.
"If they find out we are here as well..." Helia trailed off.
"Or worse, get to those fairies before us!" Brandon shouted worriedly.
"We are going to be in a shit-load of trouble," Riven laughed humourlessly in a nervous way, even him unable to mask his worry.
"You guys should get going then! Make sure Musa and Layla are fine, the rest of the girls we have no idea where they could be so we need to figure everything else out when Sky and Timmy wake up. Timmy can hack the school documents and find out their addresses or something. I'm going to try to find out as much as I can," Helia said hurriedly as he began to type furiously fast on the keypad.
"Bye!" Brandon called as they slammed the door shut.
It wasn't hard at all to find Mitzi's house. Though it was just as large as the rest of the houses in the neighbourhood, it clearly stood out with the loud, blaring music and teenagers scattered across the entrance.
"Okay, so here's the plan. You two find Musa and Layla; I'll try and spot the Trix. If we find any of them, we notify the others," Brandon explained quietly, as Nabu and Riven nodded in agreement before they entered the party.
It was like any other high school party, a bare minimum of food and a whole lot of alcoholic beverages. Though as Mitzi's house was huge, there was an open bar where a bartender was serving drinks.
Out of all the places in the world, Musa never expected herself to be at Mitzi'shouse for one of her regular infamous parties. Especially since she hated that bitch, and preferred not to affiliate herself at all with Mitzi and her gang. However after the horrible day she had, she wasn't looking forward to going home to a quiet, empty house as her dad was away on anotherbusiness trip. Definitely not today out of all the days, it was deceased mother's birthday. After the disaster at the Frutti Music Bar with Andy, Musa had visited her mother's grave to drop off some flowers.
She missed her so damn much.
From the few memories she had as a child, she remembered her as the best mother in the world with the most angelic voice.
If her mother was here right now, Musa knew she wouldn't want her to spend her time in her bed sad and alone like she had done in the previous years but would tell her to go out, have fun and surround herself with people. She would probably say her friends, but then there's that problem.
Musa didn't have any proper friends, unless you count the music-loving classmates she hangs with at school (and maybe Layla, a girl from her dance class). She may spend 5 days a week with them, but she wasn't close to any of them. She couldn't really even consider them friends, as they treated her like some superior queen because of her talent, which she detested, and only ever spoke to her about school topics and music.
She came to the conclusion. Friendship is hard.
She gulped down the rest of her tequila, before helading over to the dance floor filled with a mass of teens.
Before she was able to reach it, she accidentally bumped into someone, which caused them both to stagger back slightly.
"I'm so sorry-oh hi." Roxy began before stopping midway once she saw Musa. Is this a coincidence or something? First, Bloom at the bar, and now Musa at this party.
"No, it's my fault, I wasn't looking where I was going."
Roxy gave her a small smile, before she began to walk away.
"Wait. I feel like I should say something about earlier. I'm so sorry, I really had no idea he had a girlfriend," Musa told Roxy.
"No, don't apologise, it's his fault. He lied to us all. Plus, at least he's got exposed for the cheater. Anyway let's quit talking about Andy. How comes you're here?"
"If I'm being honest, I don't really know, I kinda just wanted to forget about everything for the night," Musa shrugged.
"I get you, but I'm only here because my so-called sister, Brianna, was forced to take me along with her to Mitzi's house. When she said sleepover, I don't think our parents thought this," Roxy laughed, making Musa shake her head.
"Well, I'm gonna go get a drink," Roxy smiled motioning to behind her. Though they seemed to get along, it was still awkward.
"Yeah, I'll see you around. I guess..." Musa trailed off as Roxy disappeared into a crowd of loud teens.
Musa took her hair out of its messy bun, shaking it loose as she walked over to the dance floor and began to blend in with the music. There were no words to explain her love for music, since she was young she had always felt a strong connection to it. She swung her hips to the beat of French Montana's 'Unforgettable', as the music began to pump her up.
She wasn't sure how long she had been dancing for, but as the song 'Wild Thoughts' began to end, she was tired as hell.
Musa made her off the dance floor towards a table of drinks. Deciding on a closed bottle of water as she had drank enough of alcohol for the night and needed to sober up, she heard a familiar voice.
"Hey girl!" exclaimed a visibly drunk Layla as she side-hugged Musa. Musa's fellow dancer was the closest she had to a friend, as they had bonded over the many dance classes they had shared over the years. However, Musa knew Layla was a very closed-off person and had stopped hanging out with people since she and Mitzi had fallen apart, so they never really spoke that often outside of classes.
The last time Musa had seen her was their dance class from last week, but she had last heard about her this morning. Apparently, Musa had missed a fight between Layla and Mitzi at lunch (she guessed it happened after she left the cafeteria to go to the music room), it was really serious and no one had seen them for the rest of the school day.
"Hey! How've you been? I heard you and Mitzi had beef, nothing serious happened to you right?" Musa asked as her and Layla sat down on of the many sofas.
"Physically: nothing but a couple of scratches. But Mitzi got what she wanted and ruined my whole fucking future. Well, I lost my chance to be on the UCLA Dance Team, and I'm pretty sure that Julliard won't be accepting me, so my dreams for after high school have been crushed, so yay me..." Leila cheered sarcastically, she was clearly heartbroken and was drinking her sorrows away.
"No. Way. That. Fucking. Bitch," Musa stated angrily," Julliard has been your dream since I don't even know probably your first pirouette!"
"Where is she?" Musa questioned, all the anger she felt because of Mitzi had been building up for years now. She had enough.
However, before Musa stormed off, Layla came to her senses for a second and held her back making her sit back down," No. Musa, just leave it. Fighting with her isn't going to get my dreams back. Plus we are after all at her house. Shit, don't even know why I came here, but it's not like she can do anything worse to me. I only came here because I just wanted to forget about my impending doom for a night. Oh my lord, when my parents find out..."
"Yeah, I get you. Today's been a rough day for me too and as much as I hate Mitzi, she throws one heck of a party," Musa said as she looked around at the buzzing party.
"Amen to that!" Layla laughed swinging her drink.
"To be honest, sometimes I wonder if this is my own fault. Like getting mixed up with Mitzi in the first place, now look where it's got me!" Layla rambled.
"Sorry, what?!" Musa almost did a spit take," okay you may have made a few bad friend choices, but this is all because of Mitzi's jealousy and the fact that she was threatened by you cause you actually had let her go, and became a better person."
Layla paused for a second," yeah gurl, you're right! I've been blaming myself the entire time for everything."
Musa finished off, "besides, who knows if Julliard are going to accept you? Even if they aren't, your life isn't over. You will get other opportunities because of your amazing dance skills and you're crazy good at sports."
Layla smiled. It wasn't just a strained or fake one. A real one and the sight of it made Musa grin in return.
"Who knew Musa Harmony was so wise?" Layla laughed," but for real, thank for the advice. It's great to have someone to talk to."
"Now enough talking! Let's go dance!" Musa pulled Layla up off her seat and took her drink out of her hand, before they both ran to the dance floor.
After a long while of dancing, Musa began to lose Layla in the crowd. She decided to get another drink of water so she could sober up more, however on her way back, her arm was grabbed suddenly. Before she could even process what was happening, she was thrown against the wall.
"You really shouldn't be dancing so sexily in that skin-tight dress," a husky voice whispered into her ear. Musa quickly identified him as Danny the Druggie as he was known as.
"Dude get the fuck off me!" Musa roughly shoved him off, before she was able to do anything else, a new voice sounded.
"Get away from her," the guy stated in an intimidating tone. Musa looked over to see a tall, muscular guy she'd never seen. He had an athletic build, his muscles evident through his shirt, and his spiky hair was a strange but interesting magenta colour. However, what had caught Musa off-guard were his violet eyes, they were nothing like she'd seen before. Although bright, held darkness within them, and their intensity were so strong Musa found it hard to tear her eyes away.
"No can do mate, she's come with me," Danny replied in a strange tone, before pulling Musa by the wrist. Surprisingly, he did not seem to be high, perhaps slightly drunk.
Musa grabbed his arm before twisting it back. As he held onto it in pain she slapped him across the face so hard that the collision even caught the eyes of some people around them, and left her hand stinging.
"Don't ever fucking touch me against my will, and don't treat me like I'm some property you can mess with," her voice was harsh and icy, before knocking him against the wall.
"Thanks for the help, but I can protect myself," Musa said to the mystery guy named Riven. Although grateful, her tone was hard, and with that small statement she walked off.
Riven smirked, maybe he had jumped to conclusions about these fairies they had to bring back to Magix. He thought they were going to be like the prissy princesses Alfea was full of (there was a reason he preferred the Cloud Tower witches), excluding the few fairies he knew well. Some fairies at Alfea he's seen expected their boyfriends to be at their beck and call, and to rescue them even though they have their powers. However this Musa girl protected herself, and seemed headstrong and independent. Maybe he had judged these fairies too quick.
Riven walked over to Danny grabbing him by collar of his shirt, "you're disgusting. If I ever see you go near her, or try to force yourself onto any girl, there'll be a lot more damage."
Before Riven walked away, Danny spoke up.
"Bro-"
"I'm not your bro."
"Okay, I mean yeah I wanted to get some, but I could've got that anywhere else, though Musa is hot as fuck. Anyway, my point is I'm not the one that I wanted her, some new chick called Darcy or something asked me to bring Musa to her. Don't know why-"
Riven cut Danny off," Darcy? She's here?"
"Yeah, her and her sister Stormy, they were with Mitzi somewhere around last time I checked-"before Danny could finish, Riven walked off hurriedly. He brought out his phone and messaged Brandon and Timmy.
The witches are here and I found Musa.
He quickly did a one-over on the dance floor, spotting Musa quickly. Now, he just can't let her out of his sight.
Musa searched for Layla in the dancing crowd, however easily spotting her as her dancing outshined the rest. She looked to be enjoying herself, so Musa let her be so she began dancing again with random people in the crowd.
Layla was actually having a pretty good time that was until she spotted Mitzi approaching her.
She rolled her eyes," look I'm not here to fight, if you want to kick me out. Do it now."
"No, Layla. I don't care about that right now," Layla was taken aback by Mitzi's sad expression.
"What is it?" Layla said harshly.
"It's Stacey...She's gone, I thought you deserved to know," Mitzi barely made out before walking away.
"Gone? Wait, w-what do you mean gone?" Layla stuttered as her brain unable to process.
"Dead. She's fucking dead." Mitzi tone was now void of emotion, as she turned around for the last time and left.
Layla stood still amongst the moving energetic crowd. Her thoughts slowing down. Was it her fault? She was there with her earlier on in that same night she died. The girl was so out of it, but Layla just brushed it off thinking she was just high like the rest of them. But if Layla had just spent more time speaking to her, helping her instead of just getting high that day, Stacey still could've been here right now.
Layla ran away from the crowd, she needed space. She needed air. She just needed it all to stop. She found herself sitting against the wall in an isolated hallway. Alone. She was always alone. At school with no friends, at home the only person she had was her nanny, her parents basically only ever saw her once a month. Now even, despite being in party at a house full of people.
Her ears caught on to some voices in the room beside her. Slowly, she creaked open the door to see if anyone was in there. To her surprise, she found a small crowd of girls and boys sitting on the couches in the corner of the room, drawing up lines. She straight away guessed they were Mitzi's friends as she even recognised one of the guys.
Before she could have quickly walked away, it was too late. They spotted her.
"Yo, Layla! Why don't you sit and chill with us for old times' sake, hm?" one of the guys she used to hang with, Charlie said.
"Yeah, come join us!" a girl sitting on his lap beckoned in a high-pitched faux voice. Layla recognised her as Stormy Thompson, who was in her Biology class today.
Layla was about to walk away, however she took one look at the drugs on the table and the teens on the couches seeing how relaxed and care-free they were. She rethought for a second, if she could only just stop thinking about it all for a little while.
She sat down on the single couch, beginning to regret her decision but it was too late, and before she knew it, she was intoxicated. Her thoughts and problems were in a far, far away place.
Musa, however, was still downstairs in the middle of the party. She was now searching for Layla, as she did not want to leave her alone in her state, but to no luck, she still hadn't found her and it was 2am and she wanted to go home.
"Have you seen Layla?" she asked a random girl from her dance class, who just shook her head before going back to making out with some guy.
Musa huffed and rolled her eyes, however her frustration was short-lived as someone answered her. However, that certain someone was Brianna Jones.
"I saw her talking to Mitzi earlier, they both seemed pretty upset, but I think Layla left after that. I don't know I saw some black girl with long curly hair that looked like her leaving though."
Musa contemplated if she should trust her, but came to the conclusion that she had no choice, plus Brianna actually seemed pretty sober surprisingly.
"Guess I have no choice, but to take your word for it," Musa sighed, before texting Layla.
I'm heading home now. Can't find u apparently u left, text me when u get home safely k?
Thankfully, Layla didn't take long to reply.
Yh, I'm fine.
Although Musa questioned the short reply, she thought maybe Layla was just too tired to send a full message. However, little did Musa know Layla was just upstairs, high and unable to reach her phone, as it laid in the hands of Stormy Thompson, who had just craftily sent the message.
Musa began to leave through the enterance, her house was only across the street but further down the road so it would be a short walk.
Riven spotted Musa headed out, and followed after her. He also pulled out his phone and messaged Brandon and Nabu.
Going to make sure Musa gets home safely. I'll be back soon.
Musa was only half way down Mitzi's street when she began to feel extremely paranoid. She felt as if someone had their eyes on her since she had left the party, so just to be sure she turned around and saw Riven, the guy who had tried to help her earlier.
At first, she ignored it; maybe he was just going the same way as her.
However, as she began to near her house, he was still there.
"Hold on, are you following me or something?" Musa turned around and questioned loudly.
"No, I'm just going this way," Riven replied simply with his hands in his pocket as he came to a stop a few feet away from Musa. His tall figure staggering above Musa, even though the girl was taller than average.
"Well, only the people that live here go through this way, as it leads to a dead end," Musa crossed her arms stubbornly causing Riven to refrain from rolling his eyes.
"How do you know I don't live here?" Riven raised an eyebrow.
"I know almost everyone who lives in this neighbourhood; I haven't seen you around once. Cut the bs."
"Okay, you got me," Riven lied, faking a sheepish expression," I just wanted to make sure you got home safely."
"Well my house is literally right around here, so there's no need. Thanks, though." Musa said sceptically, before taking a turn at the hedges and walking briskly off into the entrance of her home. To be honest, sure it seemed kinda sweet, but she did find it a bit creepy and strange of him. Unless he was lying; but he must be one damn good liar.
Due to her extreme tiredness, Musa ran up to her room desperate for the comfort of her bed.
The moment she stepped foot into her room, her head began to hurt. She shut her eyes trying to block out the pain, but felt someone's presence hovering close to her.
"Hello Musa," Darcy Thompson, one of the new girls at her school stood in front of her, her hands held out in a way that looked like she was somehow causing Musa the pain.
"What. The. Hell. Are. You. Doing. In. My. Room." Musa slowly made out as she collapsed onto her knees.
"Oh, your kind housekeeper, Celeste let me in, she's very easy to manipulate," Darcy said nonchalantly, returning her hands to their normal position and taking a seat in Musa's favourite red egg chair.
"What are you doing here? What are you doing to me?" Musa screamed, holding her head in pain.
"Just a simple dark magic spell I enjoy using to torture fairies like you," Darcy stood up beginning to walk over to Musa's instruments, pressing a few keys on Musa's prized piano, it unnerved Musa seeing her place her gloved fingers on it.
"How? You're crazy, this is just a prank," Musa refused to believe the ridiculous things coming from Darcy's mouth.
"No, honey. I'm not, okay maybe a tad bit. I would explain, but I'd rather not waste my breath, and you'll find out soon enough when my darling sister decides- oh wait that's probably her right now, I can already feel the air getting icy." Darcy said calmly, and as if on cue, her sister, Icy appears crashing through Musa's beautiful balcony window, knocking over her harp.
Musa was in shock.
Did she just fly in?
Her horror only heightening when she saw a limp red head in Icy's grasp.
BloomMusa made out a small inaudible gasp.
"Now, enough chit chat," Icy demanded causing Darcy to raise her hand.
Before Musa could try to gather her words from the shock, her eyes were flooded by darkness. The last thing she felt was her head hitting her soft carpet, as she was rendered unconscious.
Just across the straight, Brandon was in the middle of a make out session with a beautiful brunette he had met at the party named Vanessa. He saw her on the dance floor, and after that things got pretty heated.
"Wait," Vanessa breathed out, causing Brandon to pause.
"You sure you wanna do this?" Brandon asked.
"Can we just talk?" Vanessa asked as they both sat upright on the couch.
"Yeah, sure, lemme guess is this about a certain pink-haired girl you were kept eyeing while we were dancing?" Brandon asked conversationally as Vanessa tried to fix her mass of curls that were now a mess.
Vanessa seemed to disagree, but changed her mind and gave in, "yes. Roxy and I, well we have history."
"Define history," Brandon asked, as he began to check his hair in Vanessa's mirror.
"Can I trust you?" Vanessa questioned seriously.
"Gurl, c'mon you know I got you," Brandon told jokingly, causing Vanessa to laugh and relax.
"Well, you see... we dated for a bit in secret. I didn't want anyone knowing the truth, I wasn't ready, and so we broke up. But now I'm really, really regretting my decision, because I miss her so bad-"Vanessa explained quickly.
"Just be with her. I know it's not that simple, but love is complicated. If she means the world to you and makes you happy, then be with her. It's the important things that matter," Brandon said earnestly, which caused Vanessa to grin at him.
"Thanks, Brandon that means a lot. I'm going to go find her, don't get too drunk without me!" Vanessa kissed him on the cheek, giving him a smile before rushing off.
Brandon sighed contently, lying back onto the sofa. Though Vanessa was a really fun girl, he felt better knowing he helped her get her happy ending and that he made a friend.
He took another big gulp of his drink, before heading over to the bar. Seems like he wasn't taking his own advice, as he forgot about the whole reason he was meant to be here.
As he sat down on the bar, coincidentally he found Riven and Nabu sitting beside him, both with non-alcoholic drinks.
"Yo, hey!" Brandon shouted loudly even though he was right beside them, causing Riven to shoot him a glare placing his drink down. Nabu exhaled, the entire night he had been searching for Layla but to no luck after she had disappeared from the dance floor.
"Thought you were getting drunk, Mr Grumpy Pants," Brandon questioned as he was about to order another drink until Nabu put him to a halt.
"Well, I had a few drinks at first that was until I saw Musa almost kidnapped, and realised our priorities and came to my senses," Riven muttered, his run-in with Musa from earlier replaying in his mind.
"Well if there's 'Responsible Riven' and 'Noble Nabu', no harm in me having a few too many drinks," Brandon slurred.
"You may have spoken too soon," Nabu replied quickly getting up. He spotted a confused, tipsy Layla making her way down the stairs with Stormy.
"I'll take care of it, you just bring Brandon to the car," he quickly told, before rushing off.
"Wait, wait, where you going?" he stopped Stormy, who seemed intent on getting Layla out of there.
"Oh, Layla has taken in a bit too much, I thought I'd help her get home," Stormy said with a kind yet clearly fake facade.
"You have a car? I can drive you home, I haven't drunk at all," Nabu responded nicely.
"Not that really isn't necessary," Stormy answered, her temper wearing thin.
"No, really I insist," Nabu argued back.
"I didn't even know you and Layla were friends especially after lunch," Stormy questioned suspiciously.
"Oh no, we go way back, our families are good friends and we've grown up together. We just have been going through a rough patch lately, but that doesn't mean I stopped caring for her," Nabu tried to persuade.
"Well, I've been a better friend to her tonight so if you'll excuse me-"Stormy began to push her way past, but Nabu stopped her.
"Wait, isn't that your sister over there?" Nabu lied, pointing at a random brunette on the other side of the room.
"Wait, what?" Stormy exclaimed, letting go off Layla. For the few seconds he had, Nabu picked Layla up, putting her over his shoulder, before bolting off into the crowd.
"Hey wait! Stop him!" Stormy yelled, but no one seemed to pay any attention to her, however suddenly her phone rang distracting her.
Once Nabu safely reached outside, he quickly spotted Riven and Brandon by the car.
He gently placed Layla down in front of the car, informing Riven, who was holding Brandon upright, about the situation," we need to goo! I basically just kidnapped Layla from Stormy's grasp; it won't be long till she finds us."
Riven raised his eyebrow at the intoxicated brunette who was leaning against the car,"what are we going to do with her?"
"We'll figure it out on the way," Nabu said as he placed Layla in the backseat doing her seatbelt, "put Brandon in the front, you need to keep your eye on Layla."
"You seriously going to leave me with her," Riven groaned as he sat in the back.
"Riven, shut up." Nabu said bluntly, laughing at his behaviour as he began to drive off.
"Yo, do you ever-" Brandon began to be interrupted by Riven.
"Don't start please!" Riven moaned as he tried moving Layla's shoulder off him. However, the movement awakened Layla.
"Who the hell are you?" Layla questioned quietly, waking up from her nap.
"This is all a dream, just go back to sleep," Riven tried to convince but failed as Layla moved from her sleeping position.
"What is your hair? Is it red, pink, purple, like what the fuck?" Layla tugged at his hair much to Riven's annoyance.
"It's pink! Just like his eyes!" Brandon laughed.
Riven scowled," okay my hairs magenta and my eyes are violet. You're just jealous because of how unique it is."
"Are you hating on my brown hair?" Brandon gasped.
"Hold on, hold on, hang on a minute, don't I have brown hair as well?" Layla questioned.
"Are you calling me ugly?" Brandon exclaimed angrily, as he and Layla began to yell out outbursts at Riven.
"Man, you guys are drunk as hell," Nabu chuckled, "food anyone?"
"Is that even a question?" Layla asked as Nabu pulled into the McDonald's drive-thru.
"What are we going to do with her? She's annoying me so much already," Riven grumbled as Layla began to sniff his hair.
"Uh, shit I actually didn't think that out," Nabu commented as he handed out the food and drinks.
"I don't really care, just get me a bed please. Maybe I can just wake up and find out this is just a horrible dream. That Stacey isn't dead. That I'll still get into Julliard. That I'm not on the verge of expulsion. That I didn't relapse and do drugs again." Layla rambled on quietly, leaving the boys slightly shocked as she drunkenly spilled out all her life issues.
"Okay, Layla sweetie, where do you live?" Nabu said in a sweet tone tentatively, carefully trying not to cause another outburst from her and Brandon like earlier.
"You're so silly, my nanny always told me not to give my personal information out to strangers," Layla giggled giddily.
Riven face palmed," okay you tried it out the nice way. Now it's my turn, listen up fairy-"
"Oh, Riven still reads fairytales!" Brandon interrupted loudly, enjoying teasing Riven. Nabu thanked drunk Brandon as if he hadn't cut off Riven at that point, Layla would have been really confused, and she wasn't ready to find out about the truth.
"That's so cute! You're still a little kid!" Layla laughed, spilling her drink accidentally on Riven, as Nabu 'aw'ed to further annoyed Riven.
"That's it." Riven muttered angrily.
"Chill bro, we're here," Nabu said as he pulled to a stop, getting out to help Layla.
"Woah, where is this place?"
"It's your home, Brandon. Where you live." Riven rolled his eyes as Brandon staggered out the car.
Nabu sighed; this was definitely the most eventful night he has ever had in his entire lifetime.
Wow, this chapter took so long to write. I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT!
The next chapter was quite long and is probably going to be the last one before all hell breaks loose, woo can't wait!
There may be a delay though as I start school very, very soon. As much as I wanna sit and write all day, ya gurls gotta make a life for herself and get the grades.
This chapter focused on Musa and Layla a lot. I know but don't fear! The others will be in the next chapter, also I know that I've lost majority of my readers due to how many times I've rewritten this and how long its taken, but I'm trying really hard with this book. And I hope you enjoy it! Peace!

PS: I officially switched back to third person point of view, as it's easier to understand the characters, and I prefer it. I might go back and change the last few chapters back to third person if I get the chance!
