Bonnibel made it to Marceline's apartment by noon, as she did on all their mutual days off, but the locked door told her that she somehow remained unexpected. She reached above the doorframe, hand searching before coming back with a key. She quickly unlocked the door, stepping inside. "Marcy?" She inquired, stashing the spare key and walking further into Marceline's small apartment.
"No, Ash! You don't get to just barge in here and ask for my help. I'm NOT your girlfriend anymore!" Uh oh. Ash was Marceline's ex…why was he there?
"But Marce- "
"OUT."
"Marceline- "
"Get out, Ash!" Marceline took a couple steps backwards, trying to distance herself from the boy and Bonnie shifted awkwardly, giving a small cough. Marceline's gaze snapped towards the doorway where Bonnie lingered, and she took a couple small strides towards the other girl.
It was then that Ash's gaze flickered to Bonnie, "Who's that?"
"Who's this?" Marceline laughed, eyes alight with mirth as she stepped closer to Bonnie. "This is Bonnibel."
Bonnie's eyes widened at the sudden wolf-like grin that spread across Marceline's face as the other girl stepped closer, "Marcy, what are you doing?"
"Sorry about this," the other girl whispered before tugging her forward by the collar of her shirt. There was a brief pause, a moment when their breath mingled before Marceline closed the distance. Bonnie leaned into the kiss almost instantly, eyes fluttering closed and hands finding Marceline's waist. The other girl's hands slid upward, tangling themselves in her hair for a moment before they broke apart. Marceline flashed her a stunning smile before turning back to Ash, "My girlfriend."
Bonnie swayed in place for a moment, mystified, before she processed what Marceline had said, "Huh?"
"Girlfriend?"
"Ash, we broke up 3 years ago. Did you honestly expect me not to move on?"
"Yeah, well…whatever. I'm out." Ash threw up his hands, stomping away.
"…Bonnie," Marceline's voice broke into her stupor.
Bonnie shook her head in an attempt to clear the fog, "I'm sorry, what?"
Marceline gave her an amused look, "Thank you. Ash is…difficult. If you hadn't come along, I probably would've been arguing with him for the rest of the day. He wanted a place to crash, since he and his mates got evicted. He's such an ass."
"Oh." Of course, it hadn't meant anything.
"Are you alright, Bon?"
Bonnie coughed, clearing the lump from her throat, "Yeah…yeah, I'm fine."
Her amused look morphed into one of concern, hands grasping at Bonnie's shoulders, "No you're not. Is it because I kissed you? Look, I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable."
Uncomfortable? Marceline thought she had made her uncomfortable? Bonnie failed to hold in a manic laugh, "You didn't make me uncomfortable, Marceline. Did you catch me off guard? Yes, but it wasn't at all an unpleasant surprise…quite the opposite actually."
"Wait, you're alright with it?"
More laughter bubbled up and out of her mouth, "Hell yes," Bonnie paused briefly, brushing her bangs aside. "Marcy, we started talking to each other because you caught me sending Lady a picture of the 'hot girl' on the train with me. Why the fuck wouldn't I want you to kiss me? I made it pretty obvious that I was interested from the beginning." At Marceline's incredulous look, Bonnie took a few steps back, "I'm gonna go, I guess; give you time to process."
At that the other girl took a few quick steps toward her, reaching out to catch her arm before she could leave, "Don't go."
"Look, I clearly made you uncomfortable-"
It was the other girl's turn to laugh, "You didn't make me uncomfortable, Bon. I just didn't think you'd be okay with me kissing you. I took the picture with my phone on the train cause I wanted an excuse to get your number. I just…when we talked on the train we didn't really know each other, and I thought it'd be weird to ask you out; then when we met up later we ended up becoming friends and I didn't wanna fuck it up."
Bonnie snorted, "You caught me taking a picture of you on the train, I think we were past weird."
"I- that's fair."
"So, you took a year to kiss me and it took you being propelled by your douche ex's presence, because you thought it was weird?"
"…yeah."
"You doof."
"Hey, I'm gay I can be stupid. You could've asked me out too."
Bonnie sighed, "Alright, alright. We're both dumbasses. Call it even?"
"Sure." Marceline grinned, "Hey Bon?"
"Yeah?"
"Go out with me?"
So, it's been 2 years since I last updated this. I just found it in my old docs folder & decided to touch it up & post it as another chapter. I did say I would do a sequel for this, I'm so sorry it took so long for me to post it.
