Author's Note: I hope that the jumping around doesn't confuse you guys. I skipped around a little because there were just some parts that I thought Kasumi wouldn't really fit in.

Everything has spiraled downhill. I can't even care to try and comprehend what's going on anymore. What's going to happen to us? I have an impassive expression plastered on my face as I watch things unfold by myself. I don't feel like it has something to do with me somehow. Apparently, the Sky Arcobaleno asked for Sawada's protection from Byakuran, but she was the leader of the Black Spell? Sawada declares that we're going to protect her and I nod as I cross my arms. Live in the moment. "Alright. The boss's choice is the boss's choice. There's no need to question it," I say.

"H-Huh?! Boss?!" Sawada exclaims.

"You're definitely not my boss Sawada-san, but I've been under your care until this far, and since you're in command, I'll do my part too," I explain. I pull my hair over my right eye. "Well then."

I watch Hibari's box weapon multiply quickly to slow down the Real Six Funeral Wreaths as I ride on the shark box weapon. Suddenly, I get a familiar feeling somehow. I'm not sure how else to describe it other than familiar. "…assistance…" I hear faintly. My eyes widen a little as I realize what it is.

I jump off of the shark box weapon in time.I let out a sigh of relief. "M-Mukuro-sama!" I exclaim. Hibari glares in Mukuro's direction.

"What's going on?!" the Storm Guardian asks. He looks at me and I return an impassive expression.

"Mukuro-sama's real illusions…" Dokuro says softly.

Sawada exclaims, "That's….!"

"Oh?" Byakuran asks. He attacks Mukuro, but it seems like Mukuro is alright. I smile a little as Mukuro makes a strong illusion to attack Byakuran. That's incredible… I watch in awe. I'm surprised that he got this much better.

Sawada falls back. "Woah! Incredible!" he exclaims. He looks awestruck too.

"It's been a while, Sawada,Tsunayoshi," Mukuro greets with a small smile.

"H-His hair is longer," Sawada comments. "The future version of Mukuro? But aren't you injured or anything?"

Byakuran appears to be unharmed. "Tsunayoshi-kun is right, Mukuro-kun." "Hm?" Mukuro looks surprised too. I guess that he wasn't expecting this.

Dokuro and Sawada gasp. "I-It's not working!" Sawada exclaims.

"I thought I'd destroyed your mind when you were possessing my subordinate. Or at least cause enough damage to prevent you from creating such illusions," Byakuran explains.

Mukuro laughs his signature laugh. "I definitely thought it was over when I fell prey to your scheme and I found myself in a sealed space," Mukuro admits. "It would have been, had I been alone."

Byakuran seems to figure this out quickly. "I see. You had your buddy open a hole from the outside," Byakuran says. His voice still sounds cheerful. "Wow, you're talented, Kasu-chan. Oh, and I guess you were being a good girl and telling the truth before, too."

Mukuro and Hibari both glare at Byakuran. "You shouldn't address my Kasumi in such a friendly way," Mukuro advises. Hibari glares at Mukuro now too. "As for my so called, 'buddy,' he's more like a poorly raised child than a buddy." Huh? Fran?

"A child?" Sawada asks.

"Either way, you dealt me considerable damage. Enough to prevent me from doing anything until a moment ago," Mukuro continues. The illusion expands and more pillars of fire appear. Sawada exclaims in surprise and his eyes bug out.

Byakuran laughs. "That won't do, Mukuro-kun. That's not enough to beat me," he says. Mukuro frowns and Byakuran continues, "Your illusions may be extremely real, but you're still a fake. If you want to beat me, you'll need to escape Vindicare Prison and fight me in person." He's really been in prison all this time… We failed to break him out…

"Kufufufu," Mukuro laughs. "No need to worry. I shall come to personally defeat you in the near future." Sawada, Dokuro, and Byakuran's eyes widen. "We have already made our move. I'll leave it at that," Mukuro explains. He turns to smile at me. "Isn't that right, my adorable Kasumi?"

I nod. "Yeah," I reply. Sawada and Dokuro look at me with wide eyes.

"And I merely need to delay you to win here," Mukuro says to Byakuran. "Now, take the Sky Arcobaleno to Namimori, Sawada, Tsunayoshi," Mukuro commands.

"Mukuro!" Sawada exclaims.

"Tsuna, we should let Mukuro handle this," the Bronco advises.

Dokuro cries out, "But, Mukuro-sama!"

"Mukuro!" Sawada calls out again.

"Hm?" Mukuro asks.

Sawada continues, "Will we see you again?"

Mukuro turns his head a bit to look at Sawada. "Of course. I can't have someone other than myself taking over this world. Kufufufu." Mukuro smiles. "Listen carefully, Sawada, Tsunayoshi. You absolutely must not let the Sky Arcobaleno, Yuni, fall into Byakuran's hands," Mukuro warns.

"Quiet," Byakuran says. His hand goes through Mukuro's torso. My heart skips and beat.

"No!" Dokuro exclaims. Tsuna gasps.

"Now hurry. Charge the teleportation system with flames," Mukuro commands. "Kasumi," Mukuro says. "You know what to do."

I nod and smile faintly. "Yeah. It'll be taken care of." Mukuro smiles and turns back to Byakuran. I pull out my ring and help to fuel the teleportation system. There's a bright light and I know that we've succeeded.

I look over to the Arcobaleno as he comes into the room suddenly. It hasn't been too long since we teleported back to Namimori and headed back to the base. "Arcobaleno?" I ask. "Do you need something?"

"You know you should stop calling me that, Kasumi," he advises.

I nod. "Fine. Is there something you need, Reborn?"

He snorts. "You're being too familiar."

"So are you."

He smirks and seems to accept it. "Anyways, I need you to go to Nami Middle and convince Hibari to come back. We're heading back to the past again," he explains.

I nod. "Alright." I start to get up.

"You're being particularly obedient today," Reborn comments.

"It doesn't matter. I'll do whatever I have to if it means that I go back to Ken and Chikusa safely. They're hopeless at taking care of themselves without me after all," I reply. I walk away without another word.

I walk straight to Nami Middle after grabbing my messenger bag. I open to the door leading to the roof and I find Hibari, Kusakabe, the Bronco, and his subordinate there. "I thought I'd find you here, Hibari-san," I say. They all turn around to look at me.

"Sato-san," Kusakabe says. He looks a little surprised.

"Reborn-san wants you to head back to the base," I say to Hibari. He frowns as he crosses his arms and looks away.

The Bronco sighs. "That's what we've been telling him to do," he explains.

Hm, so that won't work… "We're heading back to the past though," I continue. "I sorry about this, but could you come with us? Please?" I ask.

"Fine. Let's go," Hibari says. He turns around and starts to leave already. He walks through the door and leaves the Bronco gaping at me. I look back at the Bronco impassively before I follow Hibari out.

When we get out of the school, my eyes widen a little as I spot a familiar looking girl. She sees me too and her eyes light up. "Ah! Kasumi-nee!" she greets happily.

I smile at the dark-haired girl and nod. "Kiriko."

She runs over to me and gives me a hug. I awkwardly stand still, not really knowing what to do. Then, she lets go and looks up at Hibari. "There's another person…" she says quietly and a bit warily. She tilts her head to the side. "Is he your boyfriend?" she asks with a flat expression.

I'm about to respond when Hibird interjects, "Hibari, Kasumi!"

"Ehh? So it is?" Kiriko asks. She smiles. "I wanna be just like Kasumi-nee one day!" she decides. "Oh, and you boyfriend looks really strong. Kind of like someone who you know that will protect you if something happens," she comments. Hibari smiles very, very faintly and my eyes widen a little. I think that this is the first time I've seen him with this expression.

"Yeah, I think so too," I reply with a smile.

I watch from the corner of the fomer Millefiore Base in Japan with Hibari as Sawada speaks to Spanner. Sawada looks around frantically. "Ah, where's Hibari-san and Sato-san?" he asks. He finds us. "Hibari-san! Sato-san!"

"Hm?" Hibari asks. He glances at Sawada and closes his eyes again. "The Bronco wouldn't stop nagging," Hibari explains. Oh? Is that it?

"I went to take care of something," I explain. "Hope I didn't worry you much." I close my eyes as we get teleported back to present time.

I listen in on what the plan is now and realize that it must have something to do with the Vongola Rings again. So technically, it doesn't concern me. My eyes widen as a familiar looking person appears. Everyone gasps other than the Arcobaleno, Hibari, and I.

"Y-You're…" Sawada starts.

"V-Vongola the First?" I ask quietly. I've heard about him obviously, but… Why is it that he looks familiar?

Reborn nods and the First glances at me. He looks a bit troubled for an instant, and then it disappears quickly. What was that? "As Kasumi said, that's Vongola the First. Vongola Primo!"

"So we meet again, Vongola Decimo," the First says.

"He spoke!" the Rain Guardian comments.

The Sun Guardian asks, "I-Is he a ghost?"

"A supernatural phenomenon!" the Storm Guardian exclaims. They all look surprised still.

"You were the one who summoned me?" the First asks. I glance at the Sky Arcobaleno, Yuni.

Reborn explains, "There's a legend that the Vongola Rings hold the living will of the first-generation family. We used the power of the Arcobaleno pacifiers to form a contract that allowed you to take corporeal form."

"That's possible?" Sawada asks as he looks up at Reborn.

"I've never answered to the Arcobaleno's power and never will again. My acceptance of the Arcobaleno's boss, the Sky Arcobaleno's conditions has led to this single exception." This is…a succession trial of some sort then? "It appears that you've run into a wall, Vongola Decimo.

Sawada gasps. "How do you know that?"

"He can sense the danger to the Vongola. It must be a response to your feelings," Reborn explains.

"My feelings?"

The First looks around. "You're Decimo's Guardians?" After he glances at Hibari, he looks at me again. He looks troubled again. I open my mouth to ask something, but then I decide against it. His expression looks a bit softer now. "Did you have something to say?" he asks me.

My eyes widen a little. I wasn't expecting to be addressed. Why is it that I keep getting addressed by people now? I don't have anything to do with this. "N-No," I reply, "Nothing in particular."

He nods, though I get the feeling he knows that I do have something to ask. "You still have yet to inherit the true power of the Vonogla," the First says to Sawada and his Guardians.

There are more gasps. "What?!"

"True power?"

The First continues, "If the first-generation family Vongola Family accepts you as the true boss and true Guardians, you will be able to inherit the power of the Vongola."

"Power of the Vongola?" Sawada asks.

"Why do we need to be accepted as true Guardians?" the Storm Guardian asks a bit angrily.

The Sun Guardian jumps in too. "Yeah! Tell us!"

"Are you able to embody the duty of a Guardian? Do you have the resolve? Everything rests on that," the First replies a bit cryptically. He disappears. Something troubles me… He kept looking at me like something bad may happen.

"Dinner's ready!" I call out to Ken and Chikusa. It's comforting being back with them. I feel like I've spent a long time away from them now. That's never really happened before. Even in Vindicare Prison, we were still able to contact each other.

"Whoohoo!" Ken shouts happily as he runs into to the kitchen.

"Ken," Chikusa says. He must be annoyed by Ken just a little.

I smile faintly before I cross my arms. "Geez, I can't believe that you two finished everything that I made. You two are going to get fat at this rate."

"It's not my fault. You made it taste too good!" Ken replies as he gorges himself in his food.

"It's not like you'd eat it if it tasted bad, Ken," I reply. I sigh. "I'm going to give this to her. Try not to choke Ken. I'm counting on your help Chikusa." Chikusa nods and I head out of the kitchen with a bowl of food for Dokuro.

I walk into the room that I'm sure Dokuro is in, but I stop in my tracks as I see another person there who resembles Mukuro. He's definitely not Mukuro though.

"I am the first-generation Guardian of the Mist Ring, Daemon Spade," he says. "Oh," he says. He turns to look at me and his eyes widen a little.

I look back at him. "You're…" I start.
