A.N Yaaay~ Short chapter! *shot*
Hm. . .Don't have much to say. This part will most likely be longer than the first book (I actually have plans for this book hoho)
Anyways, I don't own Harry Potter or Fullmetal Alchemist? (Do I look like a genius? Duuuh, 'course not)
"Hm, I wonder if Ron or Harry are coming soon. . ." Al wondered while looking out of their current compartment. He watched as Ginny, Fred and George - he still couldn't tell who was who- and Mrs. Weasley entered Platform 9 3/4.
"They won't miss school so it'll be fine. They sounded excited or whatever kids sound like for the new school year when they are happy," Ed mumbled from his slouched position on the seat. He continued flipping through Year with the Yeti and yawned. "This is a load of bull. Like, he seems to be the type of guy who just looks shiny but does nothing!" He dramatically flipped the book to the side of the seat.
"Ahh, Brother, you are always like this. . ." Al pouted but took his seat anyways. "I don't think Mr. Dumbledore will hire Mr. Lockhart if he is useless and like bad wizard and stuff. . .Maybe he looks flashy to make a person feel more at ease! Or like to drop the guard of his enemies!"
Ed rested his chin on his palm after shifting so that his whole body was lying on the seat. "Ugh, I will be the judge of that- more like the whole school will be the judge of that!" Ed quickly sat back up after the train started moving and looked out of the window of the compartment. "All clear."
Al quickly crawled over to where Ed was seated. "I found out a bit more about the thingy that they said dad created." Al pulled out the card with Hohenheim- "Paracelsus"- and gestured to the "discovery of Parseltongue" part of the card.
"What did you get?"
"Its apparently "serpent tongue" but "snake tongue" is much more easier to say. And it also encompasses those who can speak "snake" but are not a real snake. Those who can speak the snake language is called a "Parselmouth." Records show that the last person to have this skill, however, is the Voldemort guy. Its like an ability that is passed down through generations so you can't just randomly learn it."
"Pity. . " Ed sighed. "I would have loved to learn a new language. . ."
"But Bro-"
"Elric!"
Ed quickly slammed his palm down to cover Quick Defensive and Offensives! and turned to face Draco Malfoy and his two goons - Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle (who honestly look like round pumpkins who can't protect anyone).
"And hello Younger Elric. You guys caught me at the wrong time that day. Apologies. So, you like animals Younger Elric?" Draco leaned in to look at the book title of the book Al clutched.
"Yes I do like animals and who are those two with you Draco Malfoy? I'd like to hear their own introductions, thanks," Al quickly informed Draco before he could introduce his "henchmen".
"Vincent Crabbe."
"Gregory Goyle."
The two of them looked honestly surprised that anyone would actually ask for them to introduce themselves. They certainly didn't sound pleased or happy that someone remembered them because they spoke in monotone.
Al looked conflicted- he obviously wanted them to say more but wasn't sure how to phrase it without seeming to be rude.
"Anyhow, you are going to be a Slytherin right? You should avoid Potter and them. They aren't the types of people you should hang around," Draco waved his hand in the air gesturing that the Golden Trio were people who Slytherins- and respectable people- should avoid.
Ed glared at Draco, "I thought I told you to stop judging people based on their houses like that. Its not like they did anything to you ever."
Al angrily stood up, "I do not understand. Why are they not the 'types of people' I should not hang around? What is wrong with them? I do not understand what you mean by 'types' either. You all go to the same school and are learning the same things and if they didn't do anything bad to you, why is it not right to hang around them? I'm sorry but if you are unable to explain your words, you must leave right now." Al lightly ushered Draco, Vincent and Gregory out of the compartment while shaking his head. As he slid the door shut, Draco caught sight of Ed looking away as if he didn't know them.
Al huffed and flopped back onto the seat. "I don't like it Brother. . .even though you say its not like Harry did anything bad to him, he still doesn't like Harry. Even though they are both the same. . .why can't they be friends? They are all students at the same school. . .why can't they accept each other?"
Ed sympathetically patted his brother on his back. Al was always conscious of the person that was falsely disliked or looked down upon. That feeling was only enhanced as he felt out of place while he was stuck in between a human and an inanimate object.
"People are like that Al. It sucks but there is even more that judgemental stuff at the school, " Ed sighed as leaned back down onto the seat once Al moved. "But not everyone is like that. And now that you are here. . .We can show them how we Elrics work. We don't judge by houses or classification or whatever, we shall judge with our own judgement," Ed smirked.
Al sighed but smiled nevertheless. "That's true, both mom and dad came to this school- well, dad most likely did- and we should continue showing them that they are not correct in classifying people just like that."
Al was literally freaking out. His brother already retreated to the Slytherin table and Al was left panicking alone in line with the other first years. The only other person he knew was Ginny Weasley but she was also nervous so it wasn't like he could talk to her about it.
It felt so foreign. He was in a foreign country wearing foreign clothes. It only heightened his nervousness even more because since he had no alchemy and didn't really know magic yet, he would probably be defenseless if someone were to attack him.
No, he could punch them or something. But what if they can do long range? Al considered doing a flying kick if someone tried to attack him and decided on getting out of the way then charging forward to land a punch.
"-ric, Alphonse?"
Al blushed and hurried onto the stool and quickly let go of the hat so it fell over his eyes. The last thing he saw was the worried looking face of his brother from the Slytherin table.
'Uuh, hello? Brother told me that you can read my thoughts right?'
'Why hello, a brother of Edward Elric, eh? Mind if I take a peek?'
'Of course not sir! I-I'm really no one special but if. . . if you won't mind me asking, how did you end up in a hat?'
'Why, I do mind you asking!' the hat replied in a joking tone before telling Al that he was just joking. 'I see why you would ask me that though. I saw this bit during your Brother's memory but I didn't focus on the other person in the room. So that was you. . .'
The image shocked Al down to his toes. It was that night again. That night where everything spiraled down. 'No, its the past now, we are fine.' Al repeated the mantra in his head.
'Sorry if I hit a sore spot. It's just that the first thing that pops up is the first I see. . .Now, now, where should I place you?'
Al didn't even have time to blink as he was assaulted by speeding memories that he could barely remember.
'Hmm, you show much less ambition than your brother. You would rather your brother be safe than going out to those missions to return your bodies back to normal. You are very resourceful like your brother but always looking through your father's research books and books in general. You are the type of person to value fair-play rather than cunning-ness. However, there was that time where you showed quite cunning and resourceful skills by offering your superior officer to be left behind so you and your brother wouldn't be chased by that monster named 'Gluttony' So not much of a Slytherin that I can see so far. . .'
Al blushed at the statement. It was true but that was because it would be safer and he only said it as a split second decision! He honestly didn't mean it!
'Your love of books- like your brother- can land you in Ravenclaw. You do desire knowledge to help and save everyone you can. Should I remind you that you were very intelligent even as a child? You are very accepting of those people around you- no matter what their original intent was. You are also very creative as you use that body- when you were cursed- as a shield to hide and protect others. You also were able to creatively use the Philosopher's Stone!- to create many different things.
'Once again- fair play comes up in the Hufflepuff traits. You are also very kind to those people who you meet. You always try- or have tried- to not be negative towards others unless you are sure that they are not trustworthy or kind. You have endure your brother's complaints up until the time where you couldn't take it. You tried to endure all the negative feelings and the emptiness you felt while you were trapped in a body that couldn't feel or eat. Even though many people complain about your brother's attitude, you take it all in patiently. You are especially loyal to those close to you in that you would do whatever you can to protect them. Though people will say you are a bit too patient with your brother sometimes.
'Shall I consider luring that 'Pride' together with you in a trap bravery? It certainly was an incredible amount of nerve you were showing when you didn't hesitate but offered yourself up for the better of your people. You are very chivalrous to the people you meet also. You try to help the weak- such as the cats, I guess. You had honor in the fact that you did not have a human body at the time but continued in strengthening yourself physically. There are so many times where you show courage- whether foolish or not, I'll leave that up to you. You show promise to continue to protect others selflessly and that shows you are very daring. Your selfless obligation to protect those close to you can be an overlap to those traits of Hufflepuff- it's impossible for one to be completely one house, you see- however, it's closer to the trait that the Gryffindors seem to have to throw themselves out to protect someone else.
'Maybe I have rambled a bit too much but I don't like to make rash decisions you see? Since it seems that you have to be separate from your brother. . .'
Al panicked, 'W-wait. . .Well I guess brother did say that we will probably split. . .I'm fine with any house since brother said that each house is filled with people with similar goals and stuff. . .But I really have to wonder, how long have you been stuck in a hat without human contact and. . .and how often do you lose the fact that you are. . .human?'
There was a moment of silence before the hat spoke again.
'Well, I don't feel much need for human contact- I can speak into your head and read your thoughts correct? This way, I can feel the human contact that you refer to. I may not be able to feel the same warmth of a human's body but I can get even more personal and into your head. It has been a long, long time that I have been the hat I am now. I remember waking up- making around a thousand years ago?- and being told that my job was the sort children like you into houses. I don't even know if I was ever human at any one point of my life. I don't remember being anything other than a hat. But you don't have to grieve for me. I enjoy my job of sorting kids like you. It's nice knowing that people do care. But now time is overdue, time to announce your house to allow you to meet your new housemates.'
Al clenched his fists and did his best to not makes his eardrums burst when the hat roared out a single house name.
"Did you hear? Apparently Ron Weasley and Harry Potter arrived here on a flying car!"
"That's so cool!"
"Won't doing something like that get him expelled?" Al was still sitting on one of the chairs in what they called the "Common Room" and there was a bunch of boys who were chattering about Harry and Ron arriving at Hogwarts in a flying cars. 'That's why they weren't on the train. . .'
Everyone looked at Al like he grew another head. Like, how in the world would arriving in a flying car get anyone in trouble?
A small mousy looking boy- Colin Creevy, he had introduced- turned to Al, "There is no way they will expel Harry right? He is a savior of the Wizarding World isn't he?"
'Yea but Father is still not well liked by Brother even though he kinda saved Amestris!'
"They are here!"
The portrait to the room was flung open and at its other side was Harry and Ron- looking quite shocked at the numerous clapping (and perhaps the fact that Al was in Gryffindor). There was also Hermione who did not look happy at the way the Gryffindor boys were applauding the two of them for arrive in a flying car and not getting expelled.
Everyone seemed to try and help their two "heroes" up into the room and left Al to help Hermione into the room because everyone else forgot about her.
Everyone continued showering Harry and Ron with so many congratulations that Harry didn't even have time to ask Ron about the possibility of having one family member be in a different house.
Harry quickly pointed to an angry Percy- the prefect for Gryffindor- after seeing Al's and Percy's frown.
Al sighed as he saw the boys return to their rooms. He did wonder though, why did they have to arrive in a flying car? Harry and Ron didn't strike Al as the type to enjoy showing off. Harry seemed to already have his full of his popularity.
'Brother, I hope this isn't a weird house. . .'
If this was a bit short, I apologize. I just thought it would be good to end here. Sorry if anyone wanted Al to be in a different house but I thought Gryffindor would be best- for the reasons listed above- and the fact that the main adverstiy in the school is between Slytherin and Gryffindor. If the brothers were separated into the houses that are on the opposite sides of each other, what do you think will happen?
Haha, anyways, see you next update! Probably won't be next week but I'm never confident when I will update myself ^^;
goodgirl275 - I was so happy when I read your review ^^ It was very supplying! Dumbledore meant for Ed and Al to see Lucius and Malfoy coming out the shop. They weren't really in Knockturn Alley- they were at the intersection- but got closer once they saw Malfoy. ^^ I was thinking the same about the rooster too, I guess Harry is an impulsive Gryffindor XD Sorry, I couldn't help but make Draco revert a bit- similar to what he said to Harry, no?
And thanks to everyone else that reviewed ^^ coronadomontes, GoddessDana, chewybillabong , percab8531 (I'm so flattered), and Guest!
psst. . .I don't have confidence in my editing skills so I hope its ok ^^;
