Author's Note: Okay, I'm finally almost done with this arc. Rest assured, I fully intend on continuing on with the manga's plot after that. I'm sorry that my updates have been taking so long. I'd say that it's mainly because of schoolwork and my laziness. Sorry guys. In any case, enjoy the chapter.
Disclaimer: I do not own Katekyo Hitman Reborn
I close my eyes as there's a large flash of light. Then there's a sound that rings out. It sounds a bit like a piece of metal getting struck by a hammer. I open my eyes again and look at Sawada and Byakuran. It looks like they're surrounded by two large bubbles.
"What's that sound?" the Bronco asks.
Squalo exclaims, "Sawada's a Byakuran's rings are reverberating!"
"Their Deathperation Flames have changed form!" Levi says.
"What's going on?" Bel asks. It seems like Byakuran was expecting this to happen though. He looks pretty calm right now.
The Bronco gasps suddenly, "Are the rings resonating?" What does that mean though? What would that do?
A few people try attacking the flame bubbles. "These flame barriers are troublesome! Our attacks have no effect!" Levi says as he holds up a clenched fist. I guess that we have no way of interfering then.
"How far will they expand?" Lussuria asks.
"L-Look!" the Sun Guardian exclaims. "There's another ball of flames from the other direction!"
"What?!" the Storm Guardian shouts as he whips his head in that direction.
Kikuyo starts, "That's…"
"The person inside that ball of flames is… Yuni?!"
"Why would she decide to come to Byakuran herself?" Levi asks.
"Don't be stupid," I say, "Look at her expression. Her eyes are wide. Clearly, she has no control over this." Levi glares at me.
Byakuran smiles. "What a sharp girl! Good job, Kasu-chan!" he praises. "She was summoned here by Tsunayoshi-kun and myself."
"Vongola Ring, Mare Ring, and Arcobaleno pacifier," Mukuro starts. "The Tri-ni-set Sky elements are attempting to gather. Did the excessive strain on the rings cause them to gravitate towards each other?"
"This is bad! Yuni's flame barrier is going to join with the Tenth's and Byakuran's barriers!" the Storm Guardian exclaims.
"Stop her!" the Bronco exclaims. How? We can't attack it? "We can't let Yuni get near Byakuran!"
The Storm Guardian jumps into action and fires Storm flames. Xanxus also attacks with his gun. There's an explosion, but nothing happens. "Damn! It didn't even flinch!"
The Rain Guardian jumps up and attacks with his sword. "How about this?!" Nothing. "It's no use! Not even a scratch!"
I pull out my scythe and coat it with soft mist flames just to make sure that this won't work. I attack the barrier and shake my head as my scythe reverberates a little from the attack no effect. "We won't be able to get inside that barrier!" the Storm Guardian exclaims. "Shoot! Yuni's…" It looks like the barriers have finished merging.
"Welcome, Yuni-chan!" Byakuran greets.
"Y-Yuni… Stay away," Sawada warns weakly.
She exclaims, "Sawada-san!" She gasps.
Byakuran laughs. "Well? Aren't you surprised?" he asks. "When the Tri-ni-set Sky elements release incredible amounts of flames, they create this unique situation. Now we have a stage where the three of us won't be interrupted- A special stage for the Tri-ni-set Sky elements and nothing else. Except, I no longer need Tsunayoshi-kun so Yuni-chan and I will be all alone soon." Byakuran smiles happily and tightens his fist even more. Is that even possible? Sawada lets out a gasp in pain.
"Sawada-san!" Yuni exclaims. "Stop it, Byakuran!"
"Hmm?" Byakuran asks, "How can you possibly tell me to stop now?" Yuni falters. "Weren't you the one who forced the Vongola people into risking their lives to protect you? Even when you knew from the very beginning that they couldn't possibly defeat me. Your aimless escape only served to increase the number of victims. Can you be anymore selfish? You just wanted to watch as people move at your beck and call. Isn't that the real reason you tried to escape, Princess of the Arcobaleno?" Something starts to glow underneath Yuni's cloak and she covers it up quickly. The glowing stops. "What was that? You're hiding something under your cloak," Byakuran says.
"No, not yet," she says quietly.
"Not yet?" Byakuran asks. Pacifiers fall from her cloak to the ground. The Arcoableno pacifiers?
The Storm Guardian exclaims, "Those are the Arcobalneo pacifiers!"
"No, that's not all they are!" Mukuro replies.
"That's…" Byakuran starts. I look at the pacifiers more closely. It seems like there are parts of the Arcobaleno that are sticking out of the pacifiers. That's actually kind of nasty looking…
"The Arcoableno are beginning to regenerate their bodies," Reborn explains.
"Regenerate?!" the Storm Guardian exclaims.
"Or you can simply say that they are being reborn," Reborn says.
Kikuyo exclaims, "Reborn?!"
The Brocno's eyes widen. "The strongest babies are coming back to life?!"
"Is that possible?" I ask quietly. But, there has to be some kind of price to that, right? It's not just going to happen like that… I get a bad feeling at the pit of my stomach. There's something wrong.
"I've heard that the power of the Sky Arcobaleno is able to restore the other Arcobaleno from the verge of death, but I didn't realize that they would be regenerated from their pacifiers," Reborn explains.
"Which means, Mammon is coming back to life?" Bel asks.
"C-Could it be?" Kikuyo asks. "Yuni-sama's escape was meant to…"
Mukuro replies, "That's right. Yuni was buying time for the Arcobaleno's revival after they were killed by Byakuran's scheme, which is why she begged Sawada, Tsunayoshi to protect her and the pacifiers of her brethren." So that was why we had to protect her…?
"B-But if Master Colonello and the other babies… If the other Arcobaleno return, what will happen?!" the Sun Guardian asks.
"If they," Lal Mirch replies, "If the Arcobaleno return, the balance of the Tri-ni-sette Policy, in other words, the balance of the world will be restored. And on top of that, they're strong. If the Arcobaleno, at full power, join forces with Sawada, they may be able to defeat Byakuran." Yuni holds the pacifiers close to her.
Byakuran says, "It's true that there isn't any non-Tri-ni-sette policy here to torture the Acrobaleno. It would be annoying if they came back now. But it looks like we still have an hour at the very least, before the Arcobaleno return." He smiles and Yuni gasps. "Looks like I'm right." Byakuran squeezes his hand even tighter and there's a snapping sound. He died. It doesn't really feel as though it happened though. Sawada died. I watch as the flame gets extinguished and people shout his name. Now what? I think I should be feeling some kind of sadness or panic right now, but I don't. It's more like numbness. "You can bring back whoever you want and I still won't lose, but that would be a waste of time, right? Nobody can come inside this impenetrable barrier. You're mine now. You can cry and scream all you want. The Arcobaleno aren't going to defeat me."
"That's right," Reborn agrees. "The Arcobaleno aren't the ones who are going to defeat you. That job belongs to my student, Tsuna!"
Byakuran smiles. "Did Tsunayoshi-kun say that he would defeat me, Reborn-kun?"
"That's right," Reborn replies. What are you getting at, Reborn. You should know that Sawada can't do that anymore. Unless…
"Haven't you been paying attention? I've completely crushed Tsunayoshi-kun!" Byakuran declares happily.
"Don't underestimate Tsuna's Deathperation. Besides, I'm not talking about winning or losing. Tsuna, you have to defeat Byakuran," Reborn says. Nothing happens, but I think that Mukuro has figured it out.
Byakuran starts to laugh. "That was a surprise! I thought that you actually had a point to make, but you just wanted to give a little motivational speech?"
"This is how I roll. Listen up, Tsuna. You aren't the only one who's putting everything on the line here. Yuni plans to send everybody back to the past by sacrificing her life," Reborn says. So that's how it is…
Yuni gasps. "Uncle Reborn…"
"The revival of the Arcobaleno takes more than Yuni's power. She has to burn off her 'Life Flame.' That will lead to her body being destroyed, which means she'll die," Reborn says.
The Storm Guardian gasps and the Rain Guardian asks, "Her life?!"
"T-That can be!" Sasagawa exclaims.
"Yuni-chan!" Miura exclaims. She's decided already. There's no point.
"Eh? So that's how it is," Byakuran says. He looks amused for some reason.
Yuni asks, "Uncle Reborn, you knew all along?"
Reborn replies, "Of course. Wasn't hard to guess, since you're just like your late grandmother, Luce."
"Hmmm?" Byakuran says, "I can't let you do such a foolish thing. Since your life belongs to me. Now then."
Someone coughs suddenly. Sawada. He starts to get up. "Sawada-san!" Yuni exclaims.
"Tenth!"
"Tsuna!"
"Tsuna-kun!"
"Tsuna-san! What a relief…"
Byakuran laughs. "Reborn-kun's little pep talk actually woke him up. You make a great team."
"I-I won't l-let you have Yuni," Sawada declares. He's shaking though.
Byakuran laughs again. "You're shaking. Your body doesn't lie. It's scared because it remembers the beating you just took. I can feel your shaking from over here."
"This is bad. Tsuna's falling out of Deathperation mode. He's not fit to fight!" the Bronco exclaims.
"How unlucky of you to wake up to these hopeless circumstances," Byakuran says. "Ah, but I suppose you haven't had any luck since you entered middle school." That's where you've got it wrong. I've watched him myself and I don't believe that. "I know a great deal about you. You were an ordinary middle school student, who did poorly academically and athletically, and you hated school, but one day, a skilled hitman showed up to tell you that you were a candidate to become a big mafia boss. And that's how you were drawn into this scary underground world. Ever since, you've been risking your life. You hate to fight, yet you were drawn into internal disputes and battles for the position of boss. And your luck completely ran out once you arrived in this time. If you hadn't been brought here, you wouldn't have had to suffer. It makes your curse your own fate, doesn't it?"
"N-No. That's not entirely true," Sawada replies. I smile. "It's true that the future caused me fear, pain, and worry, and I was only truly happy for a very brief time, but now… Now I think I understand. You take the good with the bad. I consider everything that has happened to me precious moments of my life."
"Eh? That's an interesting interpretation. But you should reconsider. None of that will matter if I kill you," Byrakuran says with a smile.
"Stop!" the Storm Guardian exclaims as he shoots the barrier. Obviously, it doesn't work. "Damn it!"
"Mm, let's see…" Byakuran starts. "In your current state, I just need to send this mini White Dragon through your heart."
Sawada jumps up and waves his arms frantically. "Ahh! Wait!"
"Not happening," Byakuran says. There's a thud and Sawada falls backwards. Byakuran laughs. "Now, Yuni-chan… Your savior is dead."
"Ow!" Sawada's exclaims. I look at him blankly as he gets up. What? He holds up a ring attached to a chain around his neck. "This is Lancia-san's ring…"
"He was saved by the ring he wore around his neck?" Byakuran asks.
"So it really is true. Everything has played a part," Sawada says. "I wouldn't give up a single moment since I've arrived in the future. The pain, the suffering, the fun… I'm here right now because everyone was there for me. The technique and the weapons that I've acquired in the future, I couldn't have accomplished any of that by standing still. I couldn't have accomplished any of that without everybody's help. Unlucky? I feel pretty lucky. I treasure every moment that I've spent here. My flames could have only been born in this future your rule and they belong to everyone! You've hurt to many innocent people, and I'm going to make you regret it!"
Basil exclaims, "His flames are back!"
"But…" Mukuro starts.
Byakuran laughs. "Sorry to spoil this touching moment, but you haven't solved anything. Your power still pales compared to mine, just as before."
"Are you sure about that?" a very vaguely familiar voice asks.
"Hey, the rings!" the Rain Guardian exclaims.
"What?" the Storm Guardian asks.
The Sun Guardian says, "It's burning."
"T-This is…" the Storm Guardian starts. The First's Family appears.
"What a pathetic look on your face," the First's Storm Guardian comments.
Lambo exclaims, "You're back!"
The green-haired male sighs. "Keep it down. I can't stand kids. Especially, this runny-nosed cow kid."
"Don't make fun of Lambo-san!"
"Why?" the Rain Guardian asks.
The First's Rain Guardian replies, "We are always with you."
"You're not the kind to give up now," the First's Sun Guardian says.
Apparently, his counterpart agrees. "But how do we…?"
"I'll bite him to death," Hibari replies. I smile.
Alaude replies, "That's impossible right now. Though I'm not interested in what you plan to do."
"Pity. Your back is to the wall," Daemon Spade says, "and you refuse to change your position. The Vongola does not need such weakness."
"Ah, it's you," I say quietly.
"Decimo is saying the same things our boss said," the First's Lightning Guardian says.
The First's Rain Guardian agrees, "He truly does carry on our will.
"Is it okay then?" the vaguely familiar voice asks. Oh, it's Primo.
"We already determined the Guardian's worthy. Not that you even need to ask us. Just do whatever you want. Like always," the First's Storm Guardian replies.
"You're right, G."
Byakuran seems confused. "What was that?"
"Decimo, I agree with your thinking."
"Where are you? Who's talking?" Byakuran asks. He seems panicked now.
"I'd like to help out my true successor in person, but I can't do that. Instead, I'll unleash you." I smile. I think it's safe that we've won.
