Author's Note: Sorry, sorry. It's been a rough few months. I didn't even realize that I'd finished this chapter. I must have forgotten to post. Whoops. I was pulled into the world of NaNoWriMo last month, so I spent all of November writing a novel as quickly as I could for my creative writing class. The characters were based off Hetalia. Whoops. Anyways, enjoy the chapter!

As I get close to the convenience store, I check the time. The inheritance ceremony… Why haven't I heard back from them yet? "Found you!" a voice says cheerily. I don't recognize it. "Kasumi-chan~" the same voice sings. It's utterly revolting. I whip around and my eyes widen as the same male from the pictures that Hibari gave me last night smiles at me. My heart starts to pound loudly in my ears and I pull out my scythe. I don't care what civilians see me.

"It's you," I seethe. This is bad. I start to use the fourth path and his grin widens.

"This just keeps getting better and better," he says. I jump at him to try and attack, but he dodges quickly. "I can't have you hurting yourself now," he says. I inhale sharply as I get kneed in the stomach and my back slams into the wall. My vision starts to get hazy.

I gather my remaining strength and shout, "Katsu! Go!" Katsu appears and sprints down the street. He knows what to do. Find Tsuna and warn him. I attached a note to Katsu last night in case this happens. I get kneed again and I'm done. Ken, Chikusa. It's up to you now. Sorry…

It's weird. It feels like I'm in a dream, but not quite. I've been in something like this before. A memory? Maybe that's it. There are a lot of people dressed nicely in old fashioned clothing walking around. A girl that looks suspiciously like me, smiles happily as she runs up to a younger looking Daemon Spade. My eyes widen a little. This is… What is this? "Ah, Daemon! It's been a long time, hasn't it?" the girl greets happily.

"Hm? I don't believe we've met before," he replies. He seems like an entirely different person somehow.

The girl laughs lightly. "It's mean when you joke around like that, you know? This isn't the proper way to treat your childhood friend." She grins. "It really has been a while though."

He smiles back at her. It kind of looks like those smiles that Sawada always gives to Kyoko. I guess that it means that he likes her then. "It's a nice coincidence see you here," he says.

"Isn't it? I'm really no good with these kinds of things," she says with a laugh. She doesn't seem to know that Daemon likes her. While we may share the same appearance, I don't think that I could ever seem that happy. Her expression changes to a more solemn one as she looks off to the side. "I wouldn't really say that it's a coincidence though."

"What do you mean?"

"I came because I'd heard that you'd be attending," she admits with a smile. He looks pleased. "Mother and Father are busy arranging my marriage," she explains bitterly. "Of course it won't be until a few more years, but they want to make sure." She looks off into the distance and sighs. His expression falls, but when she turns back to him, he shows no signs of being upset.

"Do you know who it is?"

She shakes her head. "Mother and Father won't tell me. Apparently, one of my friends is acquaintances with one of his friends though." She manages a small smile. "Onto happier topics though, my friend should be here today too. I think that you'd enjoy talking to her. You both share the same ideals, after all."

"Oh?"

She nods. "She should be around here somewhere," she says as she starts to look around. A man taps her on the shoulder and she turns around.

"Please excuse me, Miss Cecilia, but your parents are waiting," the man says.

"Alright, thank you, Demetri," she replies. A butler, I guess? She turns to Daemon Spade and smiles. "It was nice to see you again, Daemon. I should be on my way now, though."

He nods. "It was nice seeing you too."

"If you happen to meet Elena while you're here, that would nice," she says. "Until next time then…" She waves and heads off with the butler.

The image morphs into another scene. It looks like it's on a balcony again, but Daemon Spade and the girl, Cecilia look older now. "Daemon? You're here as well?" she asks. "How nice." She smiles at him. "I suppose that Elena introduced you to Giotto?" He nods. "We'll be seeing each other more often then, since Alaude, is also part of this."

"Then the man you're supposed to marry is…"

She nodded. "Yes. Next year, I think," she replies. So that's what happened? Cecilia was childhood friends with Daemon Spade and he ended up liking her? She got married to Alaude though. So… Wow. Okay. What am I doing though? Why am I seeing this? That guy, how is he connected to Daemon Spade?

"Ugh," I groan. My mind feels groggy. Something bright is hitting my eyelids There's sun. A window then? A bed? I think. I think I'm on a bed by a window. Okay. So I've been taken somewhere. I take in a slow breath and wait for myself to wake up completely before I open my eyes. Ceiling. The room is quiet. I sit up, ready to attack if someone is there, but the room is empty. Strange. I look around. The room is quite spacious and it really does seem to be empty. I get out of bed and head for the door. Locked. Of course.

I sigh, but this is when living as a homeless person helps. I pull out a lock picking kit and start to work on picking the lock. I can hear the bolts shifting. I just have to keep my hands steady. I close my eyes and rely only on my sense of hearing and touch. Footsteps. I jump back just in time before the door opens. The guy from before laughs, "Nufufu. Trying to escape?"

My eyes widen. I've figured it out. The connection between this guy and Daemon Spade. "You're Daemon Spade. Not whoever this guy is. Katou, wasn't it?" I say. "Why?"

"Wow, you figured that out quickly. Let's see if you can get the rest, shall we? I'll even give you a hint. I've got Chrome-chan too."

I start to think. A link between me and Dokuro? Illusions? Mist? No, that's- I gasp. "Mukuro-sama…! No, you're…"

"Bingo!" He grins widely. "And the winner is me!"

"You wouldn't," I start. I can guess at what he's going to do already. This is bad. I need a way to get out of this situation. I start to think.

He shakes his head. "But you're wrong. I would," he replies. I realize that it's too late when a spade appears in his eye. "You would make a good vessel and just as good a hostage."

Being possessed is a weird feeling. It's a mental thing. During those few times when Mukuro took over, I allowed him to, so I saw nothing, felt nothing, knew of nothing, until I woke up again. It's strange this time though. I'm aware of what's going on. Yet, I have no control of my body. It's like looking through my eyes, but not being able to do anything else. I've never possessed someone before, so I wouldn't know, but I don't think that you'd want them to be aware of what's going on. Not as aware as I am, at least. I can control a bit of my movement, but just a little. I can't really go against what he's commanding me to do, but I still have a little control. Just slightly though. I think he knows that I'm not fully unaware because it feels like he's trying to shove me out of my own mind.

He's having me change into a Shimon uniform? "Stay put until I call you," he says.

"Yes," I reply. My voice is quiet and void of any emotion. I want to laugh. It's like having a robot of me. I don't know what use he could have for something like that. I'm not strong because of sheer power. I only try so hard because I want to protect the others. Without that, I don't know what I am. I want to take in a deep breath and calm down before acting on anything else, but I can't. Hm, well, I guess that I'll just get to work then. Let's see what kind of defenses that Daemon Spade set up. I try to find Mukuro, but there's a wall of some sort. I can't get to him.

There has to be something else I can do since I'll be stuck here until he comes back. I wonder if Katsu is okay. I hope he made it back to Hibari in time. I'm sure that Hibari will take care of Katsu.

I look to the door as it opens again and Daemon Spade smiles. "It's time to begin. I'm surprised you actually stayed put just like I told you to," he says. "Come here." I nod and go to his side. I wonder what he plans on doing now. "Do you want to know what I'm going to do now?" I look up at him. "We're going to lure Mukuro here to this island." He smiles a little. "Let's go then. I'm going to have to keep you nearby so I can get used to controlling you quickly. I'm sure you'll be a better vessel than Katou, Julie, but your mental strength is a bit troublesome. You've been resisting the mind control for quite a while by now." He lifts my chin up and smiles. "You're a special vessel though, so I suppose that I won't let you get too beat up." He has me snuggle against him as we head somewhere else. It's kind of nasty. It can't really do anything about it though.

He brings me to another room. Dokuro is sitting on the floor. She got tied up. "Sorry to keep you waiting. Now, let's begin," he says. We walk over to her. "Well, Chrome, do you know why I've tied you up?"

"…No… I don't know…Daemon-sama…" she replies. She was definitely taken over completely. It doesn't even sound like she's really there.

"It's because I'm going to undo your mind control," he explains. "Look." He snaps. Dokuro screams.

"Kasumi!" she exclaims. I want to react, but I can't. I think she knows that though.

"Calm down, Chrome. I'll even grant you your wish," he says. "I'll reunite you with Rokudo Mukuro." He's going to use us as bait… I feel disgusted. He chose his bait well. Chrome because she's always so close to dying and me because I'm Mukuro's extra source of power and I could be used as a backup vessel. "As I've said before, I spread a defensive barrier across this island blocking Rokudo Mukuro's illusions. I shall now remove that barrier. Mukuro must be worried about your body. With the defensive barrier down, he'll come flying out of Vindice's prison as an illusion to save you."

"But… why now…?" Dokuro asks. She looks close to crying.

"The time is ripe for the moment. With Katou, Julie's fully awakened Simon desert ring, my abilities have further intensified. With this, it'll all go smoothly according to plan. I'll be able to fight Mukuro."

"Using me to lure out Mukuro-sama! No! I won't let you do that!" Dokuro shouts. I don't think I've seen her so determined before. Ever. Mukuro-sama… Please, please don't come…

He crouches down. "No one's here to listen to your opinions," he says. "Isn't that right, Kasumi?" I don't have a reaction. Not that I can control them right now anyways. He knows that. "The one to decide will be Rokudo Mukuro. Come now. Let's undo the island's defensive barrier." Mukuro-sama, please don't come. Please? I know what he'll do though. I give up. You're going to come anyways, aren't you?

"Stop! Please, stop!" Dokuro shouts.

"It's too late. The more you cry, the better bait you'll become. Like so," Daemon replies. He takes her organs away. She coughs up blood. "I turned off my illusion compensating for your inernal organs. If I leave it as it, it won't be long until you die."

"No…" she starts quietly. "Mukuro-sama… You must…not come…" she says weakly. I want to help her, but I can't. There's a wall again. Resisting complete takeover of my mind is already too much for me. I can't do anything else to get through the wall.

"What's wrong, Mukuro?! Are you going to let Chrome die?!" Daemon Spade exclaims. He's having way too much fun with this. He's smiling.

Dokuro gets shrouded in mist, and I know that he's here. "Kufufu," he laughs. "How dare you play me pieces for me. You've lost sight of the time of your death, you putrid, rotten mafia!"

"As expected, you came, Rokudo, Mukuro," Daemon Spade replies. "With a glance, I can tell that you are an amazing technique-user."

"I can tell, at a glance, that you are too. This avatar of you is everything I detest," Mukuro replies. He looks pretty mad.

"Nufufufu. What an amusing man. I understand why you take offense, but emotions like anger can weaken your judgment. So, first of all, how about some tea? I'll even have Kasumi make it," Daemon Spade says.

"No thank you. I would prefer it if you let Kasumi go, as she is a very important piece of mine. Besides, as it is, I'm going to take you to the realm of the dead."

Daemon laughs. "Well then, we wouldn't want our special vessel to be damaged, now, would we?" he asks. "Kasumi, take a step back and stay out of danger."

I nod. "Okay," I reply quietly. I move back.
