Disclaimer: I do not own How to Train Your Dragon.

AN: Again, this story is quite abrupt and not as detailed due to me wanting to end it as soon as possible. But hopefully it's at an acceptable rate. I might come back to it later when this is completed.

Thanks to Eris and ladipretender for reviewing!

Chapter 10:

They start small but simple. With Drago in the north and Alvin in the east, they have to tread very carefully. Quickly, between the four of them, they decide that Alvin is the smaller of two threats. Drago has a trained dragon army, while Alvin's army was less organised and more brutal.

As long as they were careful, they would make it.

They make their way to the Berserker Islands. Dagur is a dangerous and unpredictable chief. They all agree unanimously that his unpredictability is what makes him dangerous. Therefore, they need to strike before he has the chance to do anything.

It's almost laughably easy.

The guards are taken out, the dragons quickly subdued with the help of Mala and the Defender of the Wings' calming fruits. Everything is going well, until…

"How in Thor's name did Dagur get a Skrill?!"

"I think it might be Alvin," Hiccup admitted. "Dagur has always been obsessed with having the best of everything."

"Alright then." Valka narrows her eyes. "All we need to do is to get the Skrill away from Dagur. I can lure the Skrill away with Atali's help, but it will be up to you two to get Dagur off of it."

Mala and Hiccup shared a look, Mala baring a particularly vicious smirk, causing Hiccup to look worried.

"Maybe-"

"We've got this."

"He's got my sister."

"What?" Hiccup asks, blinking.

"He's got my sister, Heather."

"Heather?" Hiccup demands. He scrubs a hand over his face.

"He's lying!" Atali scowls. "He just wants us to leave him be."

"No!" Dagur protests. "He's got my sister! Look," he lowers his voice, "I don't care where in Thor's name you put me, as long as you get Heather back. I'll do anything."

Hiccup is sceptical at the sudden sincerity, and it shows in his silence.

Valka watches him through a strained silence for a while. Finally, she sighs and nods, waving her staff. Two dragons scoop Dagur up, screaming.

"Get Heather back! Get Heather!"

"Well, this puts us in quite a dilemma." Atali says as she stares at the raven-haired girl curled up with a Razorwing. She places a gentle hand on the Razorwing, who merely squawks weakly, tightening its grip on the girl. "Dagur was telling the truth."

Heather looks up with flashing eyes. "Dagur? The crazy Berserker?"

"Yeah." Hiccup says slowly. "He says he's your brother."

Heather scoffs. "He destroyed my village and killed my parents." She somehow finds the strength to stand up, a scowl marring her pretty face. "I want to see him, and kill him."

"Whoa, wait just a minute-"

Mala looks too pleased at this turn of events.

"Hey, don't." Hiccup protests. "Look, Heather, we can't just bring you to him."

"If you can't, then leave us alone."

"We're not leaving you two alone, especially the Razorwing." Atali protests.

"Windshear." Heather snaps. "And I'm not letting you take her."

Valka sighs, finally intervening when it looks like this is going nowhere. "Heather, we will allow you to see him and say a few words."

Heather beams. Hiccup quickly adds in. "On one condition."

Heather glares. "What?"

"You listen to his reasoning. You tell him your story, and you listen to why he thinks you're his sister." Hiccup says.

Heather glares at Hiccup for a few seconds, but Hiccup doesn't back down. If anything, his resolve is strengthened when faced with a life, no matter the fact that said life belongs to Dagur.

Finally, the raven-haired beauty scowls. "Fine."

"Why do you want her and Dagur to talk?" Mala hisses to Valka and Hiccup, while Atali accompanies Heather.

"Oswald the Agreeable doesn't have a daughter." Hiccup murmurs. "And Dagur doesn't randomly throw about declarations like that."

"I agree." Valka says. "I don't like this, Mala, but we need to consider everything." She sighs, turning over to look at Hiccup. "People have spent years telling me I was wrong and thinking me mad or weak. I am not willing to let someone else face that prejudice blindly again."

"How's it going?" Hiccup asks Atali. The Wingmaiden had a bemused look on her face.

"Surprisingly well."

"Huh, I didn't think that it'd be this quick for Heather to forgive Dagur like that."

"I think that we should just focus on being thankful that it worked."

"Agreed."

Atali lowers her voice. "How's Mala doing?"

"Fuming."

"Ah. So avoid her then?"

"At all costs."

Their next course of action are Alvin's allies. With carefully coordinated attacks, they could easily take them all out. Alvin's forces relied on brute force rather than precision.

The small but deadly band of now six riders easily took them out. With Dagur acting as a double agent, it didn't take long for them to take the islands surrounding Berk, forcing Alvin and his allies onto the single island.

The only problem was that that meant all the prisoner were more tightly condensed together with their captors.

"So how do we get them out?"

"We need to start a rebellion on the inside." Valka states, calm and confident. "We have used that method before with my dragons. Distract them and confuse them, and split them up."

"And how do we do that?"

"Astrid." Hiccup says, eyes lighting up. "Astrid and Snotlout and everyone else." He looks at them and Valka can practically see the cogs in his head spinning as he works out a plan. "We need to get in the same room as them."

"Who can go though? We need someone trustworthy but able to hold their own. Someone even they would trust."

"I'll go." Throk offers, calm and confident in the face of incredulous looks he receives. "I will go, my Queen."

"Throk," Mala starts, hesitant and unsure. "Are you certain? We do not know of what they will do to you if you reveal that you fight for the Vikings, even if they might not know it."

"There are countless innocents captured." Throk says. "And I will not stand by here when I can play a part. None of them know me well enough to place a name and alliance on me. They will think me another unfortunate Viking captured while traversing the Archipelago."

"It's still a huge risk, though." Hiccup murmurs softly.

"Then what do we do?" Throk challenges.

Valka is nodding gently. "Hiccup, we need to save the Archipelago and then send you back. We don't even know how you got here, save that you were struck by lightning."

"You were struck by lightning?" Dagur asks, interest alight. Heather smacks her half-brother's arm, causing him to sober up quickly. "I mean, yowch. That must've hurt."

"We don't have a choice." Throk says. "I will go."
