Monsters and Magic
By: DJ Rodriguez
(Author's Notes: Hi everyone! How are you all doing? I got a couple of new reviews, so that makes me feel pretty good. I hope you all enjoyed the latest chapter, because now we're going into overdrive on this one! In this chapter, Maleficent and her forces make landfall! Godzilla and his allies will have to do what they can to protect their bonded and the other humans.
Also, I love the ideas and suggestions I have been getting over in both PM and reviews. I will say this though if anyone is curious… I have everything all worked out! This has been in my head for months now, and I got it all covered! The only thing now is to put it here on paper, and let God's gift flow through me! Believe me, sometimes I surprise myself greatly when I start to write my stories. Especially with this novel here.
I do not own Godzilla or any of the Toho monsters, nor the Disney characters. I do own my own OC's, and also the songs here I have been creating so far. Now, on with the fanfic!)
Chapter 20
It was now 7:30 p.m., the hour of twilight was upon the realm of Sennen, England. Darkness was slowly creeping up on the land, the sun setting westward but for some, it looked like it was sinking into the ocean. The royal palace, home of Eric and Ariel Marcel, was looking like a miniature fortress, a place ready for war. Five large cannons were lined up on each side of the structure, and many soldiers armed with rifles with bayonets were outside near the cannons. On the right side of the castle stood Godzilla and Anguirus, the towering monsters growling and ready for action. Mothra and Rodan took the left side of the castle, the brown worm and the pteranodon ready for action as well. The human troops were a little hesitant about the monsters being here with them, but their generals and captains told them that it was alright. Captain Jackson Dashboard was with his unit, where Godzilla was at. The two beings stood straight and tall, ready for any attack.
The village behind the palace was also quiet, the soldiers coming in hours ago and telling them of the situation. Many had either packed up and evacuated to a safe place, but the rest opted to stay and ride out what was to come. And this included all of the close friends that the royals and monsters made some time ago. So, they were boarded up in their homes, everything shut tight. The six noble bullies had made a mad dash for escape, taking one of the carriages that was part of the evacuation plan and making a mad dash towards the Manchester's estate, which was a good distance from there.
Up on the balcony were the royals families; the Marcels, Charmings, Célestins, Rhodas, and Valentins. With them was Grimsby, Carlotta, and Louie. All of them were packed up, their stuff loaded in five carriages that were outside of the front courtyard. The five large transportations were outside, the fastest horses that they could find now hitched to them, waiting for the royals families. Ariel and her family were worried, especially after they saw the storm quickly break apart some time ago. Down below in the water, Flounder and his family were near the beach. And also some merpeople were with the, a young couple with three merchildren. Apparently, they were Sonia's daughter, son-in-law, and her grandchildren. They had arrived some hours ago, and when Ariel went to them and asked if any news of her father had come up… they answered that they received no news from anyone. Apparently, the citizens of Atlantica had evacuated to different areas of the sea. Only they had come to their shore on the request of both Flounder and Sonia. The former mermaid was now very concerned and worried about the fate of Triton.
King Eric had offered the other families ships so that they could get away more quickly, but the fathers politely refused. They told them that any escape by sea at this point would be too risky, and also that they were going to stick by their friend. Eric and Ariel were touched by their sentiments and bravery, and thanked them for the words. The adults also tried to make their children leave, wanting their flesh and blood to be far away and safe from whatever might come. However, the pre-teens would not budge an inch. Melody stated to them, "We're not leaving! We feel more safe with you all and our new friends more then if we went to the village without them. We're staying!". One had to give the princes and princesses credit for having the courage to stay, especially at this particular time.
So now, all of them were waiting for what was now coming. Even after the storm died down some hours ago, the monsters' agitation did not die down. Rather the opposite, it increased! It seemed that whatever happened to cause the storm to die down was now making them more aggressive, more ready for battle. Godzilla was all ready for a fight, his posture had been locked in battle mode for all this time. Anguirus was also ready, crouched down and ready to leap into action. Mothra was on edge as well, the peaceful worm vibrating a little with anxious energy. Rodan was all set to go, wanting to take to the skies when their enemies showed their faces, and deliver attacks from above! The Twin Fairies were also a little nervous, though they were calm on the outside. Said mystical beings were with the children, all on the balustrades that lined up where the balcony. Beside them was Sebastian, the small crab hoping that this intense situation would be over with it soon.
Cinderella looked down at the mystical twins and said, "You know… I'm still a little uneasy on what the kids told us earlier. After packing everything up, and then they told us on what happened when they were on the monsters coming over here.".
Moll and Lora stated as one, "Believe us, this surprised us as much it surprised you and the adults. We did expect that a bond was forming between the children and the monsters, but we did not expect something like that to happen.". The three then remembered the events that took place about two hours ago…
~Flashback~
The royal humans were putting the finishing touches on their packing, making sure to take only the essentials. Thought light in both size and number, when it all combined together, it was quite a lot. It would take about two carriages to handle all of the luggage and such. The pre-teens carried packs that carried what they believed to be important… and that included the drawings they made some days ago of them with their bonded monsters. The servants were now loading the packages and luggage on the carriages, King Eric telling them that once they were done, they could go and evacuate with the villagers. Most of the servants bowed and said they would do so, but not Grimsby, Carlotta and Louie. The three hired hands said that they would wait with them, and before Eric could bring up an argument… the three servants stated that they have served the royal family for years, and they were not to about to go now. For them, it was more then just duty and honor… it was about the friendship and loyalty they had with the members of the family that had grown over the years.
Carlotta stated, "We all have spent our lives with you and the family, Your Highness. We have lived together… and we've decided that need be, we'll go together.". That one simple statement touched both Eric and Ariel, plus Melody. So after everything was loaded onto the carriages, all waved farewell and good luck to the ones who decided to evacuate with the villagers.
Sebastian was hoping the cook would go, and made a little comment that brought a little laughter to the otherwise very serious situation. He looked to Louie and commented, "I was hoping you go with dem, Louie. But given that you… ahem, put on some extra pounds, I tink that you would more likely ROLL then run. Hehehe…". The little red crab kept on laughing even when Louie pulled out a large meat mallet from his pocket apron and tried to smash the musical genius of Atlantica! The two were always at it, Sebastian always getting the portly chef riled up in some ways that would cause a chase between human and crustacean. The two then went off somewhere in the palace, Sebastian still laughing and evading the attacks of the crazed chef. The royals got a laugh or two out of it, the atmosphere a little lighter after that. Everyone went inside after that, Eric and Ariel now talking with the others on what else that needed to be done when Melody spoke up.
She and the others were behind their parents when the princess spoke, "Ummm… Dad, Mom. We… We have something to tell you.". The soft tone in which she spoke got their attention, and the adults turned to find looks of concern on the faces of their children. This got them very much concerned and worried. When Eric asked on what it was, it was Kathrin who answered the question.
"Earlier, when we were riding on our monsters over here to the castle, we… we think we felt what they were feeling. We think we got in tune with their spirits." she answered. One could hear a pin drop from hearing the answer, and the Twin Fairies inquired more onto what they meant. Melody started off, telling them on what happened earlier this morning when she was with Godzilla. One by one, the other children told them on what they felt and also saw, even though it was for a few seconds, when they were also on their respective monsters when they came over from the village. The Twin Fairies were shocked, even more so then the parents. The adults looked at the monsters, who had now come up from the beach but were still looking out towards the ocean. When Moll and Lora felt the heated gazes from the adults on them, plus the confused looks from the pre-teens, the mystical beings did their best to shed some light on the subject.
Moll started out, "We believed that the monsters and children would bond, but we never believed that a connection like this would form. It seems that something more deeper is at work here, something that goes beyond magic or science.". Lora added that while the kids had a deep connection to their respected behemoths, there was no real danger as the pre-teens would not feel any of the monsters pains and such if they went to battle. It seemed that at this particular moment, the princes and princesses were only capable of feeling the monster's fighting spirit, and if things went right, they would be able to sense where one another was at. The fairy said it was indeed a long shot, but the possibility would be there. The adults looked at the kids, and their young ones seemed to be happy that they were connected to their friends like this. Melody smiled and stated with pride and joy that she was happy to be connected to Godzilla, if only feeling his fighting spirit for a while. She was hoping that soon, she would be able to feel him more longer.
Mainard said, "I think I speak for all of us when I say that this is pretty nice! Even though it happened unexpectedly, I think it's more good then bad! Maybe the monsters can find us when you all can't!". That got the adults thinking now about this development on a positive note. With the former titans connected with their children like, it would be easy for them to locate them just in case they were not able to. Though they were not happy at this unexpected turn of events, they knew there was not much they could about it for the moment. For now, they would just have to roll with it and see what came their way. The kids really liked it that they were now in tune with their respected monsters on a level that not even the mystical women were able to fully discern.
~End flashback~
The three sighed as they remembered the incident, and to this point, the Twin Fairies and Cinderella were wondering if any more odd and/or serious side effects would occur. Just as the sun was about to disappear into the sea completely… Godzilla and his allies became more still, and their growling became more pronounced. The soldiers were wondering what was going on to make the creatures more agitated, and they got their answer when the sky was now completely black! Captain Dashboard said to himself, "Strange… no stars in the sky. No moon out, and the new moon is not supposed to be for another couple of weeks. Something is not right here…". The royals looked outward at the sea, then felt an immense pressure of sort blanketing them for a moment before it was released. They looked up to see that the sky was black because it was due to clouds! Heavy, thick black clouds that blanketed the sky and completely blotted out the moon and stars!
Suddenly, green fire torches appeared on the ocean in front of the castle! The soldiers plus any and all military personnel were now on immediate alert, their weapons up and the cannons moving so the barrels would be facing their targets. The green flame torches moved slowly forward, and gradually everyone could see what was now coming their way. Flounder, his wife and children were so scared on what was coming, and what they were feeling, that they high-tailed out of the area quickly. The merfolk did the same, not waiting for Sonia to return going back out to sea.
"Its… It's a craft. A sea craft, and a crudely made one." Eric commented softly. He had been a seafarer all his life, and he could tell that whoever made that kind of wooden vessel was a complete amateur at best. The craft kept getting close and closer, until finally the torches were close enough so that all could see on who was on said craft. Aurora and Philip gazed at the shadowy silhouette that was between the lit torches… and they let out a gasp of terror as their eyes widened in both surprise, shock, and disbelief. Their grip on one another tightened as they saw someone that they knew should be dead. They saw something that was a nightmare from their past, and it seemed said horror was back for a visit.
"I-It can't be… it's not possible…" Aurora whispered, her heat beating so far it could give a hummingbird a run for its money, and she felt like said heart had expanded to fill her whole chest. Ariel looked at her curiously, and was concerned when she saw that her friend had turned pale as a ghost and her eyes were just wide with horror. She asked on who it was, but Aurora gave no answer. It seemed that she had temporarily blocked out the rest of the world, nightmares coming to her and Philip again.
The being on the craft laughed, in a tone that was both aristocratic and sinister at the same time. The raven on her shoulder held on as she laughed, the noise not affecting it in the least. Even the soldiers got chills, but the captains and generals held their backbones together. Godzilla and the monsters growled, their fighting spirit nearing the breaking point. For some reason, this human in front of them was no human. The former titans still had their keen sense of smell and intuition, and they automatically knew that this being before them was anything but human. The woman's laughter slowed down until it stopped completely, her eyes focused on the royals on the balcony high in the palace. She stated clearly and loudly for all to hear, "My, my. It has been a long time, Queen Aurora and King Philip. It seems that I have missed much since last we… met. We have a lot to catch up on, I believe.". The royal party looked at the Valentin's, and saw that Aurora and Philip were shocked. Even their children Edgard and Dianne were surprised to see their parents in such a state.
"Philip, who is that woman?" Eric asked. He was starting to get very worried about the state his friend was displaying right now.
The Valentin king shook his head, recovering a little and answering in an angry tone, "That woman… she is no woman! That is… that is Maleficent! That's the witch I told you all some time ago!". The others gasped, and turned to see the smirking sorceress, who seemed to please to see her enemies now shaken with both anger and fear.
Aurora yelled out, "How is it that you are still alive?! My husband destroyed you!".
Maleficent cackled a little, to her the sound of Aurora's fearful voice was music to her ears. She answered, "I will answer that at a later time, my dear. But now, it seems that you have brought a welcoming party to me. And it seems that these soldiers seem to be more formidable then the ones you used back at your kingdom.". The witch was indeed impressed, by both the number of soldiers and the technology that was standing before her. She had caught up with the times, and knew about guns and cannons. However, she knew her magic… and four friends would be able to deter these pests. She used her magic to move the craft closer to the beach, where they were met by some strong resistance from the human soldiers. The captains down below told their men to be ready to repel the enemy, their bladed rifles all pointed at the one who dared threaten their kingdom and majesties.
"Halt! One step closer, and we fire!" one of the captains shouted. Maleficent paid them no mind, and with a wave of her staff, the bayonet rifles were flung into the air and behind her into the ocean! The witch smiled wickedly at them, which unnerved them a little before they pulled out their sabers. One of the lessons drilled into the soldiers by their superiors was always have a back-up weapon. The soldiers were still ready to fight, while above the remaining forces including the monsters looked on. Godzilla and the others were itching for a fight, their fighting spirit spilling over like an overflowed dam ready to burst! Maleficent felt this fighting spirit and gazed upward to see the monsters, which surprised her slightly. Her green eyes went from Mothra, to Rodan, to Anguirus… and finally on Godzilla. When their eyes locked, Maleficent felt a very powerful force coming from the King of the Monsters.
She laughed lightly and stated, "So, this is what happened to you. I believed you all had perished after the mystical fairies on the giant worm had undone my summoning spell. Now I see you are merely shrunk, very pale images of your once glorious selves.". That got a round of gasps from the royals again, especially the pre-teens. Now they knew on who summoned the monsters, but were more stunned when she mentioned the Twin Fairies. What was going through their minds now on how she even knew about the twins, and also what other kinds of information that she was holding now. Eric and the others knew that this was one magic user was one that utilized her mind to the fullest, and that was a dangerous combination.
Maleficent's craft hit the shoreline, and from the crudely made craft a door opened wide. It was similar to how a castle gate would lower itself to let people cross over moats. From the vessel emerged the sorceress's demonic soldiers! Every half-human, half-animal abomination rushed out from the crude vessel like rats would desert a ship. Even though it had only been two days upon the ship, the soldiers and other anthro beings of military rank were stir crazy! They did not like being on the ocean, and after the violent tempest they had to endure earlier… their eyes showed that they had a lot of pent up energy, and they badly needed to release it! The human soldiers flinched a little upon seeing the enemy's looks, but they did not falter. They stood on the beach, ready to repel the intruders! Maleficent's number of troops was impressive to say the least, her warriors outnumbering the human soldiers four to one. The soldiers retreated back a bit, but only by a few paces. They heard the sound of metal groaning, and all looked up to see that Captain Dashboard's soldiers had positioned the cannons so that they were aimed downward at the demonic horde.
The humanoid demons hissed, cawed, snarled at the cannons. They were all fired up and ready to go! Maleficent looked at the ten cannons and called out to the ones ready to fire them, "I would save your ammunition, young soldiers. You're going to need them for when you meet my latest recruits.". All of them save for Maleficent's forces did not like the sound of that one bit. She turned around to face the ocean, and her staff glowed a bright emerald-color, the light shining for all to see but having a sinister glow that took the beauty away from it. Maleficent slammed down her staff on the wooden craft, and the magical object let out a circular pulse of green magic that reached out as far as the eye could see. After a few minutes with nothing happening, everyone was starting to wonder if this sorcererss had a brick or two loose in her mental castle. However… they heard some bubbling noise, and turned towards the ocean in front of the castle to see that large amounts of foam was being sprayed everywhere! The pre-teens and their mothers gasped, for they had seen Godzilla do the exact same thing before rising to the surface.
'She… she isn't…?! Oh no!' all of them thought as they now realized who Maleficent's new recruits were.
Said witch's gaze turned up to the royals and she declared loudly, "Even though I failed to get what I originally wanted, I am glad to say that I like the substitutes even better! HAHAHAHAHAHA!". As she was laughing loudly, her newest members to her military muscle emerged from the sea! Godzilla and the others roared loudly in disbelief as appearing before them, one by one, were the monsters they fought some days ago before coming to this world! Coming up first was Ebriah, the massive lobster screeching as it rose to the far left of everyone's view. All of the humans had their mouths open wide in shock and awe, never believing to see such a sea creature of that size! Chef Louie was very much stunned, and in a deep corner of his wind, he was imagining himself cooking and marinating the lobster for a feast that would very much feed over one thousand guests.
Sebastian's lower jaw hit the ground as he commented in a stunned, automatic tone, "That is one big lobster… he's as big as the mythical Kraken!". Those that heard him would agree, that this beast was to be consider like the legendary sea monsters of myth and lore.
The next one to arrive beside Ebriah was Megalon, the huge half-cockroach, half rhinoceros beetle coming up from the foamy sea, screeching loudly for the kingdom to hear! The human's flinched from not only the unearthly screech, but from the fact that some of them disliked bugs. While Kathrin did not mind insects at all since most were necessary elements to Mother Nature, most did not like insects at all. Especially bugs that had a tendency to show up where they were not wanted. They were also stunned to see such a creature, for they had never seen any kind of beast that had metal appendages like the drill arms Megalon had. When said deity of Seatopia fired off his horn, showing off a massive lighting streak coming out of it, the people were too stunned for words. In the eyes of the humans, the creature had just unleashed a thunderbolt that was said to be the primary weapon of Zeus, king of the Greek gods! Megalon was all ready to destroy and lay waste to the land dweller's home! In his view, it was just about the same as he had done it back in his original universe. Mainard stated in a state of both awe and disgust, "That is one bug I really do not want to step on!". Who could blame him? Many would like to squish a monstrosity like Megalon, but getting zapped by lighting would deter anyone from doing so.
The one to emerge was Titanosaurs, but he was on the far right of everyone's vision. The red dinosaur roared loudly as he rose up from the depths, the first time around back in his home world when he sank a human submarine. Everyone turned to see that it was a creature straight out from their storybooks that illustrated what time was like in the age of the dinosaur! Tracy exclaimed, "Wow! Now that is a dinosaur! It looks like a cross between a sea horse and Godzilla!". In a way, she was not wrong. Said King of the Monsters merely snorted, wanting so badly to take on his former nemesis, however he lacked the size and strength to combat this creature. However, all could see that there was a wide gap between Megalon and Titanosaurus, and some were wondering why this was so. However, the last one to appear from the bubbling foam made every soldier drop their weapons in awe and horror, and the monsters also were stunned a little at seeing what was rising up. Coming up was a creature that towered over the others, and looked to be the stuff of nightmares! It was… Biolantte!
The half-sister of Godzilla roared loudly as she rose from the depths. The people heard her sound, and knew that this was a sound unlike any they ever heard before! Even the cries of the other gigantic monsters that rose up earlier paled in comparison! The beast looked around her, and saw that this land was inhabited by many humans. She glanced at the human structure before her, and then… she smelled something! Something familiar. She narrowed her eyes and focused in on an object that was giving off that familiar smell. She focused a little and… there! She could not believe her eyes, but them and her huge snout did not lie! Before her was her half-brother, Godzilla… shrunk down to the size of something taller than your average human! She roared out loudly at seeing such a sight, and her 'allies' were wondering on what got her a bit riled. The monsters turned their gaze to the castle just like the massive plant creature did, and all of them roared our screeched loudly when they finally saw and smelled their old foes. They caught sight and scent of Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and Anguirus. Needless to say… the thoughts inside the heads of Megalon, Titanosaurus, and Ebriah was this: revenge against Godzilla! However, in Biolantte's case, she was wondering how her 'big' brother got so small.
Maleficent laughed loudly as all of her minions rose up from the watery depths, and even though they were a bit of a distance from the castle, their sheer size told all that they could move in quickly with little to no problem. She turned to the forces of good and stated, "Well, I believe it's time to take what I want. My loyal minions… kill them all.". The crazed armored horde squealed/screeched in delight as they charged towards the humans, who put up a good resistance for about a few minutes before being overrun. The pre-teens covered their eyes at the bloody violence that was taking place, it seemed that their peaceful innocence was now officially over. While the horde made their way up to the castle, the gigantic titans roared as they made their way to the palace, following their new mistress's orders to the letter.
Captain Dashboard and the other high-ranking officers looked to their leader, Jackson yelling, "Your Highness! This is a battle we cannot possibly win! We need to retreat!". Earlier, he was confident that they would be able to stem to demonic horde, with help from Godzilla and the others. But now after seeing the enemy summon creatures that were truly titanic in size, and also in power, he knew that this was one battle they could not win at this time. All of his fellow soldiers felt the same way the moment that Maleficent summoned forth the monsters from the deep. Eric and the others looked around, seeing the minions of evil scaling up the cliff walls. He ordered his troops to fire their cannons at the horde, to buy all of them some time from them so they could all escape. The captain and the others nodded their heads and ordered their soldiers to redirect the cannons as best they could to the legions of humanoid demons coming their way. Jackson heard some screaming, and he turned to see his son running away from the fight. Will was still in uniform, and he just dropped everything to save his own skin.
"Son…" he whispered, disbelieving that his own flesh and blood just turned tail and ran for it. He could not find fault in his fear, but he did find fault in the fact that his son disobeyed a direct order from the king so he could save his own hide. He turned his attention back to the task at hand, and when he saw that the cannons were now aimed at the enemy. He gave the command for the manners to light the fuse, and in a few seconds, powerful blasts rang throughout the area! Cannonballs rained down on the evil-looking masses, and bits of both rock, metal armor, and body parts flew through the air! Once all of the cannons had been fired, and seeing that the cannonballs had put a dent in the number of enemies, the high officers told their men to retreat. Godzilla and the others aided them, the saurian firing his famous Radiation Death Breath at the masses that were still scaling up the wall. Maleficent was impressed when she saw Godzilla's spine flaring a brilliant blue color before he fired his famous blue flame. She believed now that this creature was not a dinosaur like she assumed, but perhaps a dragon like her final form. Mothra shot her sticky webbing at them, the demonic soldiers yelling some obscene things in their native tongue, which sounded like squeals and screeches to the humans. Many were either stuck to the face of the rocky wall, or dropping down hard on the sand, covered and tangled up good in webbing.
Anguirus did his part as well, looking down at the un-natural soldiers and letting loose his Sonic Roar! It was a loud blast of sound and air, and it packed a real punch to the enemy! Most of them had large ears and the noise was a huge blast to their eardrums, causing them to let loose the rock they were climbing up, and falling down hard on the ground. When some managed to get to the top, they were met with a swinging spiked tail and a pair of powerful jaws! Anguirus caused the frightened soldiers to stumble back down to the sandy shore below, showing to all that he was on top when it came to fighting! Rodan was also doing what he could, flapping his powerful wings to create gusts of wind that threw many of Maleficent's forces off from the rock. Some proved to be good climbers, keeping a firm grip on the face of the cliff despite the wind. Rodan screeched loudly and took to the skies, flying high and coming down fast for a low sweep! His sharp talons swiped at the forces of evil, while his pointed beak pecked at the demonic soldiers, strong enough to tear the metal armor off of them.
While the monsters did their part in covering the retreat of the human soldiers, the royals looked up to see that the titanic forces of Maleficent were closing in on them fast. Eric turned to the kids and yelled out, "GO! GET TO THE CARRIAGES NOW!". His tone and urgency of voice left for no room to argue, and the pre-teens quickly made their way inside the castle and towards the front door. Sebastian quickly took the Twin Fairies, putting the tiny women on his shell and scuttling after the children. The group held yelps and screams, and turned around to see that their parents were floating up in the air! They were covered in black and green aura, and they automatically knew that it was a magical aura. Grimsby, Carlotta and Louie were doing their best to bring them back down, pulling and tugging on their beings as best they could. However, physical strength mattered little when compared to magical strength, especially from one as vile as from Maleficent.
Ariel turned and looked at the kids, her daughter Melody more. She yelled out, "GO! GET OUT OF HERE! WE'LL BE OKAY! PLEASE, GO!". The parents yelled the same thing to their kids, telling them to flee for their lives. All of them had tears now coming down their cheeks, hot and fresh from the strong emotions coursing through them. The three servants were soon lifted into the air as well, and they were going along for the ride! One by one, the adults floated away and over the balustrades, going down to where the witch was at. The pre-teens swallowed whatever emotion they were feeling right now, made the difficult turn around and fled out the front door. Sebastian was behind them, also feeling strong emotions welling within his being. The musical genius also had tears coming out, feeling that he had failed Ariel. But he shook that off, for now he resolved not to fail Melody!
Upon exiting the manor, they saw that the carriages were gone. It seemed the drivers had the right idea to flee from the scene. The kids looked around, and soon saw the monsters. They were still battling the demonic hordes, and it was then they knew they had their ride to escape from this nightmare.
Melody and Tracy called out at the same time, "GODZILLA!". This got the attention of the saurian as he turned to see his two bonded. Sebastian was beside Melody's feet, the Twin Fairies still on his shell.
Mainard yelled out, "ANGUIRUS!". The spiked-shelled mutated Ankylosaurs turned to face the human child he had come to trust over the past days.
Edgard and Dianne yelled out, "RODAN!". It got the attention of the volcano-dwelling pteranodon, who turned from his flight path and went towards the fraternal twin humans who he had taken a liking to.
Kathrin cried out, "MOTHRA!". The giant worm turned her attention from the battle to her beloved bonded human. The monsters sprinted towards their bonded companions, and all of them felt the strong emotions swirling within their spirits. It only lasted a moment when they heard the familiar sound of Biolantte, who was coming up fast towards the palace!
Tracy looked at Godzilla and exclaimed, "WE GOT TO GO! PLEASE, CARRY US AND RUN AWAY!". Now that was something Godzilla and the others were not ready to do; to retreat from an enemy. Godzilla turned towards the behemoth that was his half-sister and roared, wanting to fight instead of running away. He had never run from a fight, and he did not want to start now. Anguirus felt the same, but Rodan and Mothra were using their heads in this case. They knew that their former foes had a serious advantage over them, and in the animal kingdom, it was better to flee then to get hurt or worse. Melody and Tracy sensed that Godzilla wanted to fight, his pride as King of the Monsters telling him to stay and fight to the bitter end. Mainard also sensed the ferocious fighting spirit coming from his monster, and while the son of Belle and Léandre did not want to run from a battle… it was time to make an exception, especially in this case.
Melody pounded on Godzilla's legs, knowing she was not really hurting him but needed to get his attention. Godzilla turned his gaze to her and she pleaded, "Please… Godzilla, I know you want to stay and fight! So do I, believe me… so do I! But the odds are too stacked against us! Please, just… just swallow your pride for once and run! Please… take us so we can all fight another day!". The saurian saw the tears coursing down his two bonded's faces, and Anguirus saw the same look on Mainard when he too pleaded with him to steady his fighting spirit and retreat. Godzilla growled softly, and knew that his human friends was correct. Now was not the time to fight. Later, perhaps. But not at the moment, not when they were at full strength and size. He slowly nodded to Melody and Tracy, then turned to Rodan and Mothra and roared loudly. The two monsters nodded, listening to the unofficial leader's instructions. Rodan lifted a surprised Edgard and Dianne onto the neck of Anguirus, and then turned his back to Mothra and lowered himself down. Mothra squeaked at Kathrin, who was holding both Sebastian and the Twin Fairies in her arms.
The two mystical beings said to the princess, "She has to climb on her back, and hang on tight! Please, do so!". The Rhoda girl nodded, and climbed on the back of the giant worm. Mothra squeaked and then started to climb on Rodan's back, crawling on top of the former titan of the skies! It seemed that Godzilla was more intelligent then one gave him credit for. He knew that Mothra was slow in terms of fleeing speed, and Rodan would be weighed down if his bonded were on his back. So, he had his ally/rival put his bonded on top of Anguirus, knowing his best friend could easily handle the extra weight of three human children. Once Mothra was situated on Rodan, the pteranodon flapped his wings and got off the ground before taking off! It was a slow start, but it was done. Mothra, Kathrin, Sebastian and the Twin Fairies were flying in the air! The princess screamed a little at being in the air, apparently not a big fan of heights.
Godzilla kneeled down and picked up his bonded, putting Melody on his right shoulder while Tracy went on his left. He then roared at Anguirus, who kneeled down to let Mainard climb on. The prince made his way between Edgard and Dianne, opting to sit in the middle of them. Once that everyone was in their proper place, the two took off after the flier! It was a good thing that Godzilla, while small now, kept his current speed when he was a titan. His speed on land was at least forty miles per hour, and in the water it was forty knots. Anguirus was also fast on land, being able to run at least thirty-eight miles per hour. The two did their best to retreat from Biolantte, who was coming up fast behind them! As she was chasing them, the castle was completely obliterated when she ran over it! To her, it was merely a stepping stone and her case, it literally was.
Maleficent laughed as she saw the palace being destroyed under foot, or in minion Biolantte's case, under growth. Floating around her were her prisoners of war, and she took in delight that she had managed to obtain her true prize. She looked at a helpless Aurora and stated, "After all this time… I finally have you in my clutches. And as a bonus, I now have the royal families of strong countries. Now, what to do with you…? Hehehe….". The other adults would have yelled at her or try and reach out to strangle the witch, but Maleficent's magical might was strong. She used a silence spell to take away their voices for the moment, and binding spells to keep their arms and legs bound to their sides. The sorceress then sent them down on the sandy beach, and had some of her soldiers that were still on the beach look after them. She waited until Biolantte was done destroying the palace, still chasing after her quarry. The powerful magic user then floated in the air, using a levitation spell to survey the area before her.
"Hmmm… this place holds much potential to be my new area of residence. And since the palace is destroyed, I believe it is time for some redecorating. Hahahaha…!" Maleficent declared in her aristocratic manner before she flared up her aura. Her entire body was covered in a deep black and green magical aura, and it was growing steady like a bonfire. Everyone that was at the beach took witness as the sorceress pointed her staff at the demolished building and let loose a stream of black flame-like magic at it! Once it struck the destroyed palace, the magic took hold and it started to twist and turn everything! Molten rock seemed to replace the regular stone and tiles, the water near the shore hissing as it was met with a sudden burst of heat! The ground started to form dense and hard rocks with small spikes on them, molten rock flowing through the cracks and grooves like blood lines in a body. From some areas of the new foundation rose what seemed to be flesh and spikes! They started to jut out from the ground like gruesome warts, everyone in awe at seeing what Maleficent was now creating. Some parts of the palace that was touched by the witch's magic started to writhe and form into shapes like living dragons of the Oriental kind, and they started to move and slither about, all forming what was in the creator's mind.
The land was now rising and twisting, the ground sprouting what seemed to be grotesque tree-like formations of spikes and rocky buds jutting out spikes. Some parts formed dragon and gargoyle heads, giving off a menacing look of gothic architect and some swearing they saw the eye parts glow green. Some of the stone parts that were rising up formed towers and pathways that showed long and massive rocky thorns. It was like the ground was taking a page out of nature, twisting and forming like earthen thorns! Some parts of the constructing monument showed various insects of such nightmares that were formed in solid earth, with plenty of spiky protrusions all over its body. One area of the place looked like a gigantic maw of a demon, lined with long teeth that were formed from stalagmites and stalactites. The transformation was almost complete, and all were in awe with what they saw. Asce had seen pictures of various castles from other lands and cultures in his study area back home in France, and he saw that Maleficent's new evil castle was like a mixture of European and Arabian design. Maleficent then added the final touch; on the very top of her new living area, she morphed and created it to be an open room so she could see all that lay before her. In the middle of this new room emerged a throne that seemed to be made of flesh and teeth! On each side of the large, black armrests were three large, pearly-white fangs with the bottom half covered in bronze metal. On tip of these fangs were two rings of gold and a black material that no one could identify. The real shocker was that the back of the throne seemed to be made of flesh, like from a ribcage! It fanned out like sails, with five pointed pearly-white bones jutting out from the side of it! It was on the sides of a green and black frame that looked like the spires back at her old castle. On the lower end of the frame were teeth that was similar to the ones jutting on each side of the armrest, only that the top ones were bigger then the four smaller ones below it. The armrests had insignias of a green dragon's head that was spewing green fire, it was the head of Maleficent when in dragon form.
All in all, it was a sight to behold! The minions of Maleficent cheered and cried in victory for their mistress, while the royal humans looked on in horror. Belle whispered, "By God himself… that thing is her new castle?!". Maleficent's glow died down, and she floated to her new throne, admiring her handiwork as she looked out in the distance. Her new abode had taken much of the surrounding land, and also taken much of her magic to create. She looked all around, and was pleased by this new design. She was surprised a little by her imagination in creating such a beautiful work of evil art. However, her admiration for her new home was cut short when she saw a golden light coming from the east! She looked over and saw that a LARGE golden window of sort spread out and actually blocked the movements of her monstrous minions! She grunted softly in displeasure, the radiance of this strange light affecting her evil aura in a negative way. It seemed that this kind of light was divine in nature, and it was the kind Maleficent knew could do some serious damage to her. She was wondering on who could have put up such a protective barrier…
~Down below~
Godzilla and the other monsters were heading towards the village, Melody insisting on going there to see if anyone was still left in it. It was her duty as a princess of the kingdom to help out her people, and she was going to do it! They were going to be overtaken by the enemy forces, with Biolantte ready to crush them underneath her large vines. It was the Twin Fairies that came to the rescue, as they started to chant in the same language that the others heard before, when they used it to bind and put a spell on Will and his six noble friends at Sanctuary. Sebastian and Kathrin closed their eyes as the twins started to glow in a bright golden aura, becoming what looked to be a miniature suns! The chanting kept up for a few minutes, then the tiny women turned to face the massive foe that was bearing down on them. They started as one in their native tongue in a strong, clear voice for all to hear, "YOU SHALL NOT HAVE YOUR WAY! BE STOPPED WHERE YOU ARE!". A light shined out from their bodies, and quickly a wall of golden light was brought up! It spread out quickly, wide and high, to stop not only Biolantte but the other monsters as well that were giving chase! Megalon, Titanosaurus, and Ebriah, along with Biolantte were stopped cold in their tracks as they hit the barrier. The wall seemed to shock them for a bit, stunning them and halting their advance.
"Tank you, ladies! That should slow those rejects from a horror show for a bit!" Sebastian exclaimed with some hope in his tone. The barrier did seem to work, but the wall's limits were tested when the titanic monsters regained their bearings and started to strike at the wall! Ebriah and Titanosaurus used their claw slash techniques on the golden barrier, while Megalon tried for some body tackles. Biolantte used her plants to strike at the golden wall, but thankfully the creation held strong. However, the Twin Fairies were flinching every now and then, and they seemed to be in extreme concentration. Kathrin asked on what was wrong, and Lora answered in a strained voice that they were focusing and using their mystical powers to create a barrier. They had never even attempted something like this before back in their home universe, and it seemed that for every blow dealt to the barrier felt like a psychic blow to the tiny women. The fairies would not let up, their need to help their friends great. The monsters and their bonded reached the village, stampeding through the entrance/exit way and seeing that the town was empty.
Mainard called out, "IF ANYONE IS OUT THERE, PLEASE ANSWER!". He and the others were hoping that no one was still in the humble village… but alas, it their hopes were dashed when they heard a familiar voice calling back. They turned to see that coming from some of the houses were Oliver and his family, Hadrian and his parents, little Regina with Carlitos and their mother and father, Sarah Brown and her parents plus brother, Joshua and David with their mother, and finally the elderly Bingwin couple. The last remaining citizens of the village had come out, wondering if everything was alright. However, they got the answer quick when they saw the towering monsters that were being held off by the large golden barrier. To the Bingwen's, it resembled the Great Wall of China structure that they knew back at their homeland.
The royal children did not get off of their monsters and Melody exclaimed, "Everyone, we have to run for it! The soldiers and everyone at the palace have left, and we need to do the same! It's too dangerous here!".
Regina asked, "Where are the others? Where is Queen Ariel and King Eric?". When the people saw the children turn their heads away, and seeing the sparkle of tears in their eyes, they were silent for a moment. That said it all for them.
Edgard stated, "Listen, we'll explain everything as soon as we find someplace to lay low until we can figure something out! That wall is not going to keep those monsters at bay for much longer!". Just as he finished that statement, the golden barrier was showing cracks from the areas the monsters were attacking. Little Sarah answered that there was a special grove in the forest, a bit far from the village but well hidden. She explained that her mother and herself went to trips there to either relax or to gather some special medicinal herbs that grew there. Seeing that there was little to no option left, Melody told Mrs. Brown to lead the way. The middle-aged but beautiful lady bowed her head slightly to them, then turned and ran in the direction of the hidden grove. Everyone followed them, and it was not long till the monsters broke through the golden wall! The Twin Fairies let out a gasp before fainting, knocked out cold but good.
Now, it was all up to luck to see them through!
~Back at Maleficent's new abode~
Maleficent was pleased when she saw that accursed barrier fall, shattering like glass before the golden light dissipated on the winds. "Hahaha. It seems my titans strengths are more impressive then I thought. I'll need to see where that strange light came from… but at another time.". She looked down at her captives, and with a wave of her hand, she brought them to her height. And the group flew towards the newly furnished Throne Room, where Maleficent sat down on her flesh-like thrown while the kings and queens were put on the ground before her. They were still bound in magic, not being able to move or say anything. The witch was enjoying the moment, but it seemed that something caught her pet's attention. Diablo had flown around the new castle, inspecting it and it seemed he found something interesting. He went to his mistress and cawed loudly, and pointed to one of the large castle's rocky conical spires.
"Oh? And what have you found for me, my dear Diablo?" Maleficent softly inquired her familiar pointed its beak at the southwest spires. She slowly and gracefully walked to the exit of the Throne Room, walking down a flight of treacherous stairs. She looked around at her handiwork, and made a mental note to discover every nook and cranny of her new dwelling and relaying the information to her soldiers later on. Maleficent also made sure to get some soldiers to her Throne Room to guard her prisoners, but right now they would not go or do anything. Her binding and silent spells were strong, and would keep the royals out of mischief for now.
The witch arrived at the spire, and saw an interesting sight before her. It seemed that when she had done her magical makeover on the destroyed palace, it had also taken and merged with sections of the palace that were not demolished. Inside the spire were three cell rooms, and inside said rooms were the three top members of the Monster bandits! Shadowsneak was lying on a large stone cot, while Tightfist and Springy were looking around everywhere in fear. No could blame them, since they and their leader were caught in the magical makeover. While unharmed during it, they saw their comrades being smashed into oblivion when Biolantte crushed over the palace. It was unsettling for Tightfist and Springy to see their fellow bandits being crushed by tons of rock and rubble in their cells. Maleficent would find the bodies later, though what she planned to do with them… another story to tell.
The witch looked at the humans and stated, "My, my. It seems that some prisoners were kept in the old palace, and now are in my new abode. I wonder… what to do with them?". Her aura flared up slightly as she prepared to go into their minds to see what she was dealing with. The two bandits screamed in fear, but not Shadowsneak as he was still unconscious. What was to happen next…?
~In a magical pocket~
There are spaces, and there are the spaces between spaces. It is within this certain space in reality where many magical beings reside, and right now three potent magical beings were watching the events unfold before them. They were three women dressed in traditional clothing that was from the middle ages. One wore red and dark yellow, another wore forest green and a lighter shade of green, and the youngest one wore sky blue along with a lighter shade of blue. The one in red spoke, "Oh my word! This is dreadful! I can't believe that Maleficent is back! I wonder how she was able to resurrect herself?!". The three beings had put some enchantments on their charge and her family some time ago, and those enchantments went off like a bell before exploding due to magical overload. When they conjured up a swirling mirror portal to see on what was happening… let's just say they got the shock of their lives.
The green-dressed being stated, "What should we do? I don't think we're powerful enough to help out Princess Aurora and her family.".
The blue-dressed woman added, "She's right! Maleficent was powerful before, but now it seems she has greater power then any of us could imagine! We won't last long in a battle against her.". The women were now in thought, and it seemed that the red-dressed woman had an idea!
She spoke, "Yes… you are right. Just the three of us are no match for that witch! But, if we had help… and plan this carefully… there is a slim chance to help out everyone!". The mirror portal then switched over from Maleficent and showing the face of each of the royals that were still held captive. The red-dressed woman stated that she knew some of the beings in the world they were in right now, and knew of their connection to the mortals that were being shown in the portal. The woman then flew into the air, her nearly transparent white wings fluttering fast and free.
"Come along dears! I believe we need to meet with some special people before attempting a plan of action!" she declared before flying away, the other two beings following. It seemed that there was some hope for Melody and her friends, and it came from some magical friends on the other side!
(Author's Notes: And… cut! That is it for this chapter! I hope I delivered some good action here for you all! Trust me, I am only getting started with this! So tell me, what do you think of Eric's military strategy? And also, if you were any of the royal children, what would you have done to convince your bonded monster to retreat for now instead of fighting? What do you think Maleficent is going to do with Shadowsneak and his two top bandits? And finally… can you guess who it was that is going to get some help to aid Melody and her friends?
Also, I just want you to know, I am a big fan of Disney cartoons and movies that were in the 80's and 90's, and Maleficent's new dwellings… it is the original palace from DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp! I have the movie, and it is awesome! It shows that back in the day, Disney had originality in everything including art and story plot. To me, the Disney of the past will always be more true and good then the current Disney of today. The earthen and spiked palace is the one that originally belonged to Merlock, the evil sorcerer and main villain in the movie. In my view, it was wicked and that is the kind of castle that would suit Maleficent well!
R&R, no flames, enjoy and leave long reviews!)
