Monsters and Magic

(Author's Notes: Hey everyone! How are you all doing? I'm doing pretty good so far. I'm kinda bummed that I'm getting many views, but no reviews. I only have gotten a couple reviews for each chapter… oh well. I know it's not as popular as the other categories and such like Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Pokémon and so forth. And I know that many want me to continue with my other stories, but I must decline. I'm putting my heart and soul into this novel, combining two of the greatest things in my life since I was a kid, and I'm going to do my best with each chapter to make sure this novel is worthy of both Disney and Toho!
In this chapter, things have been grim for the heroes, heroines, and monsters. But it looks like some light shines down on them, inside and out! This is where the forces of good come with a plan to strike back at evil! This all maybe old school stuff, but I don't care! To me, it's true, right and wonderful! Its classic action that I know follows the Disney and Toho movies from the golden age of the 80's and 90's! So hang on to your hats!
This chapter is going to be good! I'm putting in this a song from my childhood, from a movie I used to love watching as a kid. It is Dreams to Dream from the movie An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, sung by Linda Ronstadt. It's a good song from a great movie!
I do not own Godzilla or any of the Toho monsters, nor do I own any of the Disney creations. I do own my OC characters that are in here, and most of the songs. However, I do not own this song that is sung by Linda Ronstadt, and coming from another movie. So give props to this singer, especially for the other songs she has sung in other animated films!
Now, on with the fanfic!)
Chapter 22
Maleficent was sitting on her throne, looking over the wasteland that was now Sennen, England. The land itself and her resources were consumed by her wicked darkness, and it was showing as the trees were dead and/or dying, the waters were dried up, and the earth itself was parched and cracked. However, she looked neutral, neither pleased or disappointed. She looked over to see that her massive monsters were back at the palace, and she let out a sigh. She thought, 'It has been about several days since I have taken over this kingdom. All was going well, until I made some discoveries that have made me rather… displeased.'. Indeed, her displeasure was made known to her troops, blasting them with her magical bolts, chasing the frightened demonic hordes out from her presence and many now taking caution not to get on her bad side.
~Flashback~
Maleficent was down at the base of her palace, looking towards the ocean. In her right hand was the trident, the symbol of the sea and the tool that once belonged to King Triton. She had found the entrance/exit from the dungeon, and expanded the opening slightly with her magic to accommodate her height. She looked at her new magical weapon, and at the ocean before her. Ebriah was somewhere in the water, lying at the bottom but she paid little mind to that. She stated to the potent weapon, "Now then… let us see what you can do for your new master. Let us begin with a small task.". She focused some of her will into the trident, the same way she did when she held her regular staff, which was floating magically nearby, and the former tool of Triton glowed! Its aura was now black and green, contrary to the golden glow it used to give off. The waters before her started to churn and bubble before a large wave rose up, as if to greet her! The sorceress smiled widely, and a sinister chuckle escaped her lips as the rogue wave was before her.
"It works! My new weapon obeys my command! The sea is now mine to command, to control!" she exclaimed in delight. The wave was about seven feet tall in height, and it rolled with such power. Maleficent tried to make it expand, to make it higher and wider. However, that is when things started to go a bit south for the Mistress of Evil. The wave actually started to slowly recede, shrinking in size and power at a steady pace. Maleficent's grin quickly changed into a frown, and she felt the trident's pulsing power ebb slowly. She forced more of her will, and some of her magic, into the three-pronged staff, but nothing happened. In a few minutes, the rogue wave was gone, and only the gentle, natural lapping waves formed on the shore. The witch was puzzled, wondering why the trident ceased working when she tried to make the rogue wave larger.
"Hmmm… this bears looking into. But for now, I must test it out more. Let us see if this weapon can form a storm." she said to herself as she looked towards the dark skies. Maleficent held the trident high, its three points aimed at the sky and willed it again to follow her commands. Quickly, thunder sounded out from the clouds like powerful drums and lighting started to rain down from the heavens! Rain soon followed, water drops the size of golf balls pelting the land now. The sorceress was very pleased, even more so when she heard the squealing from her soldiers above, and assumed that her forces quickly took cover inside the palace to avoid getting wet. She cackled as the rain hit her body, and loved the sound of the thunder claps that sounded off, followed by flashes of blue lightning bolts! Maleficent felt that while the storm was strong in itself, she wanted to make it more powerful… to bring in a typhoon!
However, same as last time, when she tried to force more power from the trident, the storm slowly started to break apart. The winds were dying down, the rain drops shrinking in size and intensity, the thunder and lightning also weakening, and the dark clouds were starting to break apart. "No… no! I want a stronger storm! I want nature's wrath to be stronger, not weaker!" Maleficent exclaimed as she tried to force more of her will and magic into the trident. The magical symbol of the sea did not heed her forceful call, and soon everything was calm. Well… as calm as could be, the dark clouds still overhead but not as ominous as a little while ago. Soon, the rains ceased and the wrath of nature was halted. The sorceress was angry, and it showed on her face as she flared her aura a bit that followed her anger. She looked at the magical weapon, but instead of throwing a tantrum… she calmed down and started to analyze the situation. If one thing was true about the witch, is that she did not lose her mind or patience for long. She started to think, going over the events she saw earlier and comparing it to the power she witnessed some time ago on the ocean.
"Hmmm… during the little scuffle with that merking… King Triton, was it? He was able to fully use the power of the trident, creating whirlpools and forming storms and waves that were certainly incredible. Can it be that this weapon will only work at full power if someone with the blood of that merman is flowing through their veins? If that is so, then sadly I can only work with this new weapon at half power. With the ocean as vast as it is, locating him or any of those that share his blood will be next to impossible, even with the Spirit's help." she pondered to herself. It was true, in a way. Though the Spirit in the magic mirror was a powerful clairvoyant, trying to find a single individual in the wide ocean would be extremely difficult. Add to the fact that she knew extremely little about the ocean, Maleficent would not know where to even look even if the Spirit did find some merfolk that had the merking's blood. To finish it off, the craft that she and her warriors came in was destroyed, and her titanic monsters destroyed any and all ships that were in the harbor when they came ashore.
The witch sighed, but she looked at the trident in her hand. She smiled a little and stated softly, "Though I cannot use you at full power, at least I can use half of your potent might. And better half in my hand then none at all.". She then went back inside the palace, making sure to put the opening back to normal size with her magic, taking both her regular staff and the trident with her.
~End flashback~
Maleficent had been practicing with the symbol of Poseidon, and her assumption that she could not wield the full power of the weapon was proven correct. While she could summon up strong storms and large waves, she could not bring about the full fury of nature. Also, another incident took place in the past few days that made the witch rather frustrated. She felt her control of the monsters slipping, their minds steadily fighting against her magic. She used all of her power to recall the monsters from their trek more inland, and unfortunately the titans obeyed her. The closer they returned to her palace, the stronger her mind-control magic set back into place. She saw that her mind magics had limited range, that her control would extend to about 150 miles. If they wandered off farther then that, her control would slip and their minds would be more active in fighting her will. She looked out at the land before her from her Throne Room and said softly, "While it is sad that I have limitations, both of the ocean weapon and my titanic minions, at least I should be grateful that no one can oppose me. My monsters have seen to that.". It was true, the military of this world and time age were really unfit to battle with such creatures of legend.
Through the Magic Mirror, before she discovered the grip she had on the monster's mind and will started to slip, Maleficent had seen some of the military from neighboring lands try their luck against her monsters. Most of the time, the human soldiers simply fled in terror from the colossal beasts like Biolantte, Megalon, and Titanosaurus. The ones on land that dealt with Godzilla's half-sister and Seatopia's bug god tried to use cannons and all sorts of explosives, even large fireworks. Alas, all that did was anger the otherworldly monsters even more. Many men of military were burned to death by Biolantte's acidic sap, trampled to death under her bulk, or even devoured by the Venus fly-trap vines. The one who engaged Megalon found the ground falling from underneath them, their bodies zapped to a blackened husk by his lighting, or blown away by his red fire-bomb rocks. The navy did not fare much better, as any and all ships that tried their luck against Titanosaurus were destroyed and sent to meet with Davy Jones. It was truly a dark day for the people of this universe. However, it could have been worse if the mind-control magic of Maleficent did not have a limitation.
Now currently, Maleficent was trying to come up with a suitable plan to make her presence that much known throughout the civilized land. She was coming up with ways on how to make her castle mobile, for her new fortress-dwelling to be on the move, as incredible as it may seem. She was brought out of her musings when one of her minions, a lizard-like humanoid soldier, went to her and bowed. She cast a cool and calculated look on her minion, making the soldier shiver a little from being on the receiving end of said look. Maleficent inquired, "What is it that you need, loyal soldier?". The lizard demon asked her permission for he and some of his fellow soldiers could pass the time by torturing the royal prisoners that were still locked up in the dungeon. General Shadowsneak and his two fellow generals Springy and Tightfist had been seizing and taking stock the number of valuables that the demonic troops returned with when they were recalled along with the titans from another universe.
Maleficent smiled a little and answered, "Very well. You may torture them, but no lasting damage. I still have plans for those royals.". The lizard demon soldier hissed in pleasure, bowing before running off to the dungeons.
It had been like this ever since the sorceress had tossed Ariel and the others into the nightmarish dungeon that laid deep at the base of the earthen palace. Every day, the demonic hordes would tease and torment the royal couples with their screeches, shrieks, and also poking them with their weapons. The food and drink they gave to them were horrendous, and on occasion, they would take some of the kings to be tested on… putting them on some truly horrific medieval torture devices. The wives would scream and plead for their intendeds to be returned, and they would be… only after three or so hours on devices that left them racked with pain and showing some wounds that would take days or months to heal overtime. Sometimes Maleficent would join in these sessions, and would soak up the misery and pain like a sponge. In her view, these royals would be good bargaining chips when the time came to use them as such. She even told her enemies on how she was alive, that the Maleficent they were seeing now was merely a double created by the most evil of magics. She also told them that her original self had taken precautions, and now it seems that she could carry out her revenge on Aurora and Philip, the two stunned upon hearing the news. They never figured that their magical enemy would come up with back-up plans like this.
While the witch saw her minion run off, a small frown appeared on her face. She thought, 'I have the royal adults… but no children. I have scoured the surrounding landscapes for some time, and yet nothing. Even with the Spirit's help, I have yet to find those royal brats… or the monsters that are bonded with them.'. To her, this was troubling. She had seen the royal children run off on their bonded monsters, the ones she wanted originally but got the four other beasts instead. She knew that they could not have gone far, but any and all tracking charms and spells she used were not showing much. And her soldiers that went off into some of the woods that remained standing reported back that they had found nothing, not so much as a footprint or any kind of sign of the children or the monsters. She was starting to wonder if those mystical fairies, the ones that cut off her summons spell tunnel in the first place, were responsible for the disappearance of the little ones. If so, then she would have to come up with something to locate them… something more unconventional and sinister.
However, she got off her throne and went to the stairs to go to her Bed chambers. She was tired and needed some rest. She turned to her monstrous minions, who were standing by and ambling here and there around the property, and said, "I shall return, my faithful pets. Until then, guard the area. Anything that is not an ally, kill it.". She then glided to her chambers, wanting to get a fresh start for the morning. It was daytime, but her dark clouds prevented any kind of light, be it from the sun or moon, from penetrating to the surface.
~At the Secret Grove~
Just like things have not gone according to plan for Maleficent and her forces of evil, things were not going so well for the forces of good either. The past week had been quite hard on the four shrunken monsters, thirty-nine humans and two mystical fairies. Even though the Twin Fairies had put their mystical shield up to protect them all from the prying eyes of Maleficent, it still took some energy from them to maintain. And even though the magical ash tree was recharging their mystical power, the tiny women still needed physical nourishment like food and drink. Unfortunately for them and the rest of the group, those two commodities were shrinking fast. Thanks to the witch's dark magic, the land was tainted and soon everything was going quickly. The natural fruit and berries that were in the forest soon became toxic, too poisoned to look at let alone eat. The ones the children and adults picked before the toxic magic touched the land were all they had, and the portions were running out quickly. The water was also getting polluted thanks to Maleficent's magic, and the group was saved when it was discovered by Tracy that a special underground spring was in the grove.
Things were growing tense for everyone, with the food and water shortage coming along, and it reached a crescendo about four days ago:
~Flashback, four days ago~
Everyone was on alert, the ground vibrating again like it did last time when Biolantte came near the location some time ago. Hadrian and Oliver went out to check out the scene from above the ash tree, and sure enough… it was Biolantte! The half-sister of Godzilla was coming back, and Captain Jackson Dashboard ordered everyone to be quiet and remain still. The children were with their parents, while the soldiers plus Jackson were tense. The royal children were with their monsters, who were growling softly and prepared for whatever may come. The ground was trembling and shaking violently, and it lasted for about ten minutes… then it started to ebb and fade away. The young boys carefully and quietly leapt back on the ash tree and looked over the branches, seeing that the creation of science was going back to the palace. Once they saw that Godzilla's half-sister was well away from their position, they leapt down to report to Jackson.
"Sir, Biolantte just crawled past us. She is returning back to that dark fortress." Oliver stated. Chloe and Karl, Oliver's parents, had taught him to not only respect authority but to truly give it to someone who has earned it. The Oxen family had known of Jackson's hard work ethic, morals and honor, so the young lad and his parents showed good respect towards him. The elder soldier thanked the two lads and was wondering on what to do next. The monsters growled, especially Godzilla, for he hated to not being able to fight his foes. Mothra then squeaked loudly, causing the humans to jump a little while her fellow monsters were looking at her expectedly. The huge brown worm then crawled her way to the huge ash tree, the others quickly moving away as she twisted and turned around the magical tree for a little bit before settling down. The royals and citizens were a bit confused, until the Twin Fairies told them urgently to get back. Kathrin quickly picked up the mystical beings before moving away from the tree and Mothra, many wondering on what was going on. Moll and Lora told them all that this was the end of Mothra's larva stage.
Kathrin, the Browns, and the Bingwen's eyes widened considerably, all of them very knowledgeable when it came to life stages of certain insects. Will opened his big mouth and exclaimed, "What do you mean the end of its larva stage? Does this mean that the worm is finally going to kick the bucket?". His statement got a glare from the group, and a swift kick to the shin by Sarah Brown. The trainee soldier clutched his left shin, hopping down on the other foot while glaring at the defiant little one.
Lora and Moll explained, "Though Mothra is a huge monster, she also follows the rules of nature that her small relations have followed for eons. Once she has reached a certain age or level, she undergoes a transformation into something different. She wraps and encases herself in a cocoon of silk, and waits until the time is right to come out.". Just as the two finished their explanation, Mothra let loose her silk webbing! The humans gave her more room as they saw the large brown worm webbing up most of the ash tree to prepare herself for the final transformation of her life cycle. The little ones were glad to see such an event, the silk strands coming from Mothra's maw in a continuous stream. Boqin and Jiaying managed to take some of the strands that were at the edge of Mothra's construction, both stating that it was of extremely fine quality and it would have been made into a fine silk vest or other clothing material. Before any of the little ones, like Joshua and David, could ask on how silk could be made into clothing… Will exploded! It seemed that this time cooped up in the grove with the others, and the meager rations of both food and water, finally made him snap.
"This is just great! Not only do we have a low supply of food and only a little spring for us to drink in rations, this beast goes and decides to undergo a transformation of some kind?! Argh! I have had it!" he exclaimed, his explosion of anger finally getting the better of him. The little ones went to their parents for protection against his anger, while the older pre-teens and adults just looked on in either indifference or annoyance. His father and mother got up from their positions on the ground and were about to say something, when Will cut them off. In his view, he had held this in long enough and he was about to express everything to them... and it was everything negative in his view.
"Hold on! I'm not through, and I will say what I want to say! Look at us… we are all trapped here in this little section of our land! Our home! That witch turned our land into a wasteland, we have to hide out from her soldiers and titans that we cannot hope to win against, and now we're running very low on food and water! And for what?! To protect some royal brats and their pets?! It's their fault we're in this situation to begin with! I say that we give them over to that witch, and maybe she can let us live! We'll finally be able to eat and drink as much as we want! I bet she'll put us in somewhere on top of her new empire!" he exclaimed. The others were very much surprised on what Will had stated, and what he suggested they all do. Jackson and Minnie Dashboard looked livid and ashamed of what their son had just suggested. Minos acted first, going to the venting teenager and with a swift motion of his right hand, got him by the throat and hoisted him up! The others were surprised and worried on how quickly this was escalating, and Fatima pleaded with her husband to not do anything rash.
The strongman looked directly into the terrified teen's eyes and stated boldly and firmly, "Listen here, you sniveling coward. This situation is not the fault of the royal family. We were all caught by surprise, and there was nothing anyone could have done to prevent this. You are weak, you are cowardly, and you live to enjoy only the base things in life. Even though you are a soldier's son, you sure don't have the heart or mind of one. You, boy… are a pathetic coward and brat that needs to grow up.". Minos's voice was firm and clear, not needing to exclaim things out loud but putting in such subtle force in it that Will felt so small and insignificant now. The strongman then let go, Will falling hard on his backside and looking at the muscled man in fear. Minos let out a small snort of dismissal before going back to his wife. Fatima hugged him, the beautiful blonde lady very glad that her husband showed much restraint.
"Minos is correct on what he stated now, son." Jackson stated softly, but all heard him. William slowly rose, disbelieving on what his father had just told him. Jackson continued, saying that Will had disgraced the Dashboard name very much, both for his actions and words. He was very disappointed in him, and could not even look at him. When Will looked to his mother for some support, he was stunned that she was agreeing with her husband. The teenager's eyes were wide, and a slow fury was building insider said eyes. With a huff, he stomped out of the grove, going into the other parts of the woods to put some distance between himself and the group.
Melody, Edgard, Kathrin, Mainard, Tracy and Dianne looked at the retreating form of William, the monsters doing the same. Godzilla growled a little more loudly, this human that was going into the woods a coward and he spoke words against his bonded. Though he could not understand it completely, he knew the human boy's words were harsh and he so wanted to stomp the teenage into the ground, quite literally. The Marcel princess looked down, what Will stated earlier driving into her head. Oliver saw the broken look in her face, and went from his parents to Melody. He put a comforting hand on her shoulder and said, "Do not pay heed to that fool, your Highness. He was out of line on what he said.".
Melody gave Oliver a weak smile, showing that she appreciated his words. But, the smile broke when she ran some words from Will in her brain. She looked at him and replied, "Yes, he was. But… he was right on one thing. That this is our home… and I did nothing to stop that witch from taking it over.". Her friends and the adults were a bit stunned by her words, and told her that she was not to blame. Melody appreciated their words of comfort and truth, she really did. But, that did little to abate the situation they were in now.
~End flashback~
Ever since Will had blown up, he had kept his distance from the entire crowd as much as possible. Some were surprised that he did not go to the witch like a groveling fool, but the teen just mumbled along the lines for the place to be too scary to venture forth. Meanwhile, Melody was in a bit of a slump. Ever since Will's words hit her heart, she had been trying to devise of some way, some plan to try and reclaim her home. She also tried to keep the faith alive that their parents were alive, but now that faith was starting to shrink. Oliver and the others tried to cheer her up, even Godzilla nudged at her gently with his snout to try and break her gloomy mood. She appreciated all of their efforts, but she just didn't have the heart to cheer up completely. Now, she was staring at the cocooned form of Mothra while everyone was asleep. She had been awake this whole time, leaning on Godzilla's right leg while Tracy took the other leg. Melody looked at the large, white, peanut-shaped cocoon that lay leaning on the magical ash tree.
She whispered, "What do I do…? What can I do…? I just feel so lost…". Even her dreams were bad, as she had the vision of seeing her parents get taken by the witch Maleficent, and soon… the dreams turned into nightmares when she saw her losing her friends and her monster friends.
She got up slowly, being careful not to wake anyone up. She walked towards Mothra and the ash tree, being sure to step slowly and carefully over the webbing on the ground and on the tree so it did not stick to her. She climbed up one of the branches, and made her way upwards. She was so focused on going to the top that she failed to see that Oliver and the Twin Fairies were following her, her movements waking them and the three silently following the princess. Godzilla was also awake, his eyes opening and following Melody's trek up the tree. Said princess soon reached the top of the tree, and saw outwards towards her land… her former home. She saw the spiked monstrosity out in the distance, and a short but sharp pang of pain shot through her heart. She saw the three monsters lumbering the distance, and her eyes soon moved forward towards the heavens. Though the dark clouds had formed a blanket over the land, she saw a hole open up in the clouds, to reveal a velvet-purple night sky with stars shining down. Melody felt some kind of hope forming in her heart, but the hole only stayed for a few minutes before it closed. Melody sighed, and she felt the negativity and such bad emotions creeping into her heart. So to try and fight it, she started to remember the good times and dreams she had before this nightmare occurred.
Inside Maleficent's dungeon, Ariel was holding onto Eric as she looked deep inside herself as well. Like her daughter, hope and life were slipping away every day and she was feeling down and sad. Negative emotions and thoughts started to creep into her heart and mind, but she refused to be taken down by her own self! She held onto her scarred husband and remembered the good times before Maleficent arrived with her evil magic. At the same time… mother and daughter started to sing a soft song, one that reflected their moods and hearts about now.
I lose my way, no one cares.
The words I say, no one hears.
My life it seems… is a world of dreams.
Deep in the night, you'll find me.
Dream and you're right behind me.
Stay, if you will stay…
We'll dream the night away!
As the words left both of their lips at the same time, they started to remember the dreams they had. For Ariel, the dreams she had before this nightmare began were visions of her and Eric still together, old in age and watching their daughter grow up and become a beautiful, fine and strong lady of body, mind and heart. For Melody, her dreams consisted of staying with her family and making friends. And now with Oliver/Olujimi in her life, her dreams took a more subtle but strong turn towards having a family… one that had an unofficial member in it as well. Ariel and Melody now had an unofficial member to the Marcel family, and was now in both their dreams; Godzilla! The two women knew that the monster was like the catalyst, the very element that changed their lives for the better, along with the other monsters and royal friends they made.
Dreams to dream, in the dark of the night!
When the world goes wrong, I can still make it right!
I can see so far in my dreams, I'll follow my dreams…
Until they come true!
Melody and Ariel both knew that the world they were in right now was wrong; all was covered in darkness, polluted by evil magic. The demonic hordes pillaging and laying waste to whatever town they had been in, and the titanic rivals of Godzilla and the other monsters were most likely thrilled to be able to force the King of the Monsters and his allies/rivals on the run. But despite what had happened to them, their loved ones and also from words spoken to them by the enemy… they found a way to make things right! Even though it was little, it was still something and it was better than nothing. Melody wrapped her arms tightly around herself, while Ariel wrapped her arms tight around the midsection of her sleeping husband.
There is a star waiting to guide us.
Shining inside us when we close our eyes!
Come with me, you will see what I mean!
There's a world inside, no one else ever sees!
You will go so far in my dreams…
Somewhere in my dreams, your dreams will come true!
The young princess closed her eyes, and inside her mind's eye was the dream she had some time ago. It consisted of her with Oliver, both grown up and having children of their own. Among them was Godzilla, like a faithful friend that was more than just a monster. Ariel closed her eyes as well, and her mental vision showed all of them together. Her family, her friends, the citizens that loved them, and also the monsters. She saw Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and Anguirus with them, still in their shrunken state and also welcomed by the people. These four monsters, along with the new friends they had made, were stars that burned brightly within their hearts! To these two women of royal blood, these were dreams worth keeping… these were visions of a future that was highly possible!
Don't let go, if you stay close to me!
In my dreams tonight, you will see what I see!
Dreams to dream, as near as can be…
Inside you and me that always come true.
Inside you and me that always come true!
When the song ended, the words softly fading on the winds as Melody finished her singing… she turned to see that Oliver and the Twin Fairies were watching her. Apparently, they had been listening to her the entire time. The princess said nothing, just looking into the eyes of her crush. Oliver slowly went to her, and the two just looked into each other's eyes to find something, anything. Melody saw warmth, compassion, patience and a strength that really soothed her frayed soul and heart at the moment. Oliver saw sadness in the princess's eyes, but he also saw in there hope, light, and the strength to continue onward. Both seemed to just feel for one another, no words spoken because none were needed at this moment. Slowly, the African teen pulled the fair-skinned princess close to her, and the two just enjoyed the moment. The contact made Melody feel safer, and also more at peace then she had been for the past week. Both just stayed like that, and the Twin Fairies made it up the top of the tree to join them. After what seemed to be eternity to them, but in reality was only about five minutes or so, the two released each other. Melody let out a soft breath and whispered, "Thank you… I needed that.".
Oliver wore a soft, special smile that was reserved only for her. He replied in the same tone, "I am glad that you are now okay now, Melody. And it is I who should thank you, for accepting my hug and all.". The two just smiled at one another, just enjoying the moment yet again. It lasted briefly when the Twin Fairies looked to her and asked an important question.
Moll and Lora asked as one, "Now that you have been freed from the negative thoughts, what do you plan to do from here?". The two looked at the tiny women, then Melody turned her gaze towards the large fortress that was Maleficent's palace. Her eyes soon hardened, and a determined flame started to spark in her blue eyes. She looked to Oliver, then to the Twin Fairies. She scooted back from her crush, then scooped up the fairies and put them in her hair before descending down towards the ground. Oliver followed, a bit curious on what the princess had in mind. Inside though, he was glad to see the spark of life coming back into her eyes. In his view, those were the kind of eyes that was rare to find nowadays in women. Once they were all on the ground, Melody put the mystical beings down on the ground beside the cocooned Mothra and started to wake everyone up.
"Everyone, please! Get up! I have something I wish to tell you all." Melody stated loud enough for all to hear. The people started to wake from their slumber, though some like Will complained and with some decent reason since it was the middle of the night. Godzilla gently picked a yawning Tracy up, setting the young lady up right on her feet before going to Melody. The princess looked into the monster's eyes, and the King of the Monsters was glad to see the fire back in one of his bonded's eyes. Once everyone was up, Mainard yawned and asked on what this was all about.
Melody answered firmly, "I want to say first sorry to everyone, for worrying about me and such after the things William said some days ago. I thank you all for your support, but I also want to thank Will for his words as well.". That got everyone more then a bit confused, especially Will, wondering on why she of all people was thanking him. The Marcel princess explained that she mulled over his words for some time, and found that he was right. The enemy had taken their home, had driven them out from what was rightfully theirs. She had thought about it for some time, and she had the answer.
The princess looked at them all and stated, "Everyone… we are going to take back our home! We're going to sneak into the fortress and wage our last stand against that witch Maleficent! We're going to fight!". That statement sent a shockwave through all of them, and it showed on their faces. Godzilla nodded his head and roared loudly, Anguirus and Rodan following suit. For them, the time of hiding was over! It was time to go in and defeat the evil one that brought with her a vile stench that must be eliminated at all costs! Many of the humans there believed the princess had lost her mind, and tried to come up with something to dissuade her from launching such a suicidal task.
Pamela went to Melody and said, "Princess, please! There has to be another way! I mean, look around! We are hardly an army, and we don't have the necessary tools or equipment to even launch such a thing!". Captain Dashboard agreed with the mother of Joshua and David, stating that himself and his seven remaining soldiers were hardly ready to take on the massive numbers of evil demonic soldiers that Maleficent had with her. Even Mainard and Edgard, two boys that always loved to go into trouble and adventure, agreed with the captain. All this bickering and talking finally got on both Melody and Godzilla's nerves, and before the princess could say anything… the saurian roared LOUDLY! His mighty voice echoed throughout the grove, and all covered their ears as they were silenced. Godzilla continued his loud roaring for a few moments before stopping, now standing right behind his bonded. Melody uncovered her ears, looked to her friend and thanked him for the little help. Godzilla just snorted at the humans before going to the entrance/exit, wanting to leave and to go to battle.
Tracy exclaimed, "Wait, Godzilla! Hold on for a moment! You just can't want to battle all of those ugly soldiers!".
Karl, Oliver's father spoke up, "Child, look at his eyes. Those are the eyes of both a strong warrior and a strong king. I have seen eyes like those before, in both my village and in the animals back in my native land of Africa. He seeks to do battle, to drive off those from the land he considers home. He lives to battle… to fight, and to show to all that he is a king for a reason. You can feel it, can't you princess?". Tracy and Melody looked to Godzilla, and again the feeling of strength and will flowed into their beings. They were feeling his fighting spirit, which was rising steadily. The other princes and princess, minus Kathrin since she could not feel Mothra due to her still transforming, felt the fighting spirit that was coming out from Rodan and Anguirus. The two former titans were ready to fight, ready to go into battle and do what they have been doing since their birth in the other universe… to fight! The Twin Fairies looked at Melody, a bit of pride in their eyes. In their view, the young lady was acting like a true and good person of royal blood. She was taking responsibility, and was now ready to fight for her people and the land she loved.
Melody looked at all of them and said, "I don't know what we need to do… that is why I am asking for your help. I know sneaking into such an evil place, especially since it is possible that enemy soldiers are crawling around all over it, is a foolhardy idea but… but we really need to do this! Otherwise, we will all perish here in just a matter of weeks. And I rather go out fighting then going out with a whimper. Please… will you help me?". Everyone was silent for a moment or two, then Tracy went over to her friend. She said that she would help, also in going with her and Godzilla to sneak into the fortress-palace. The King of the Monsters nodded in pride at his other bonded's promise and courage, and Melody smiled and hugged her friend, thanking her for the assistance. Soon, Mainard was coming to her as were Edgard, Dianne and Kathrin.
The son of Belle and Léandre smirked a little and stated, "Well, if you're going to do such a foolish and dangerous thing… might as well have me along. And besides, I really want to get back at those ugly mistakes of nature! So count me and Anguirus in to kick some demon butt!". Angurius roared out, glad to see his bonded showing some true backbone.
Edgard and Dianne looked at their friend and it was the princess who said, "Count us in as well. Like you said, if we're going to go down… at least we rather go down fighting then just whimpering out here. So you can depend on us to help, and hopefully give those rejects from the Underworld some nasty headaches!". Rodan screeched loudly, throwing a wing over his bonded, very glad to see and hear the courage and determination coming from them.
Kathrin looked at her friend and stated, "Well… I'm not much of a fighter, and Mothra is still undergoing her transformation. But, you can count on my support and on the suggestions I have for sneaking into that evil place. It's not much, but it's all I can offer.". Melody just smiled and hugged her friend in gratitude, saying that was all she could hope for and thanked her for her brave stand. It took courage to tell someone's own limitations like that.
Oliver went to Melody, bowing to her on one knee. He stated firmly and clearly, "Your Highness… Melody. You truly are an amazing young lady, in many aspects. I too wish to help you. My skills are yours to command.".
Hadrian also went to the princess and said, "My friend is right. Not any of us would have come to know any one of us like this, until you and your friends… plus the monsters came along. So, I wish to also aid you in both coming up with a plan and going into that fortress to kick that she-devil from here back to her own dark kingdom. My quick reflexes and such are yours to command as well, Princess Melody.".
Minos sighed, but a smile was on his face. He turned to Fatima, and she had the same smile on as well. The two went to the royal children, straight towards Melody. The two performers then bowed to her and Minos stated, "Your Highness, you have shown the qualities of a real leader. You keep the faith when things look grim, you ask for help when you know you need it, and you have the determination to see things through. I want to be part of your last stand. My muscles, my strength is yours.".
Fatima added, "My agility and grace are yours as well, your Highness. Where my husband goes, I will follow. I will do what I can to help.". One by one, the others pledged their loyalty and help to Melody as well. Even the Twin Fairies did the same, going to Melody and bowing. All but Will, who stood all by himself. The princess looked at everyone who was now bowing to her, a proud and warm feeling entering her body. Her eyes watered, but these were tears of joy. She told everyone to rise, which they did. Melody told them that she was proud, but also humbled at their service and would do what she could to make sure that everything was set right. A loud cheer came up through the grove, it seemed that the light of hope was once again sparking once more!
"It seems we have arrived just in time to help you out as well, Princess Melody. I am glad we were able to witness it all." a melodic voice that seemed to come from everywhere spoke out. All of the inhabitants were spooked by the disembodied voice, especially the monsters who were now looking for the one who spoke. Edgard and Dianne were more puzzled then spooked, the fraternal twins of Aurora and Philip feeling they had heard the voice before.
Another voice, different from the others but still pleasant to the ears spoke, "My, my. Such spirited and strange creatures I see before us. It seems though that they are friends rather then with that witch, Maleficent.". It was then that answer dawned on the Valentin children, and they had huge smiles on their faces. To them, it was confirmed on who was there with them when they saw three different colored lights heading towards them. These lights; blue, green and red were about the size of softballs and pulsing like they were alive. The humans and monsters were a bit on edge when the glowing orbs came towards them, but Edgard and Dianne told them that it was alright. That these orbs were special, and also very helpful.
"Everyone, meet our fairy Godmothers! The red one is Flora, the green orb is Fauna, and the blue light is Merryweather." Edgard stated. The people and monsters were a bit puzzled by this statement, Will stating his opinion that the kid was losing his mind. However, his opinion was blown out of the water completely when the lights flashed brightly! When the lights dimmed down and everyone regained their vision, they saw that the orbs were now women with wings on their back! They wore strange clothes, and also carried small wands that seemed to be made of some sort of white wood. Dianne introduced everyone to her fairy godparents; Flora the one in red and the eldest of the trio, Fauna the one in green and the middle sister, and finally Merryweather the one in blue and the youngest… not to mention the feistiest of the magical siblings. The now-tall fairies hugged their great godchildren, very much glad that they were safe and sound. Once everything had settled down, the magical beings stood before the group and explained to them the situation on why they were here.
Flora started out, "We noticed something odd several days ago, and discovered that Maleficent was alive. We were quite shocked, considering that we did see her perish some years ago.". Jackson inquired if the one they saw was a copy or a duplicate, and the red fairy answered that it was a possibility, but in order to pull such a feat would require a great deal amount of magic of the most insidious nature. Fauna continued, saying that they all knew they could not go up against the witch due to not only the huge difference in magical power now, but also due to the nature of their magic. Will asked quite rudely on why it was so, and he received a cuff on the back of the head from his mother Minnie. Fauna chuckled a little at the display, then answered the teenage brat that their magic was only used to help others in a positive way. She said that years ago, they gave the one who defeated Maleficent the first time around, Prince Philip, tools that were used to take down the sorceress.
Merryweather then showed a small but true smile and stated, "So when we knew we could not defeat her, we went out to get some help. And after we did some research on the families you and Edgard bonded with, Dianne… we decided to bring in some old friends of theirs to help out. Seeing the confused looks on everyone's faces, Merryweather pointed to the sky above. Coming down from a hole from the tree rooftops were two bright star lights; one was a pulsing silver, the other a pulsing golden color. The silver light then transformed into hundreds of tiny sparkles and a form was showing up. In a matter of moments, standing before them was an elderly woman wearing a blue cloak, wearing a blue hood and having a purple ribbon tied just below where the base of the neck as at. The golden light expanded, and in a flash of light… stood a real beauty of a woman! She looked to be around in her mid to late 30's, fair milky-white skin, flowing light blonde hair, and a crown of gold atop her head that held three emerald stars on three points. She wore a beautiful dress that had different colors of green on various places.
Tracy immediately recognized the one in blue and exclaimed, "Fairy Godmother Cateline!". She ran over and hugged her godmother, who apparently was of the magical race like the Three Good Fairies. The smiling elderly lady returned the hug with much love and affection, and looked over her goddaughter a little bit. She was pleased that she was okay, and said that she looked and felt stronger then she saw Tracy last time.
The golden haired beauty walked with a noble air around her towards Mainard, and he and Anguirus were a bit on edge towards her. However, the fair beauty smiled at the pre-teen and stated, "I see that the son of Léandre has grown into a fine, capable young man. You may not know me personally, but I do know your father. I am the one that put the enchantment on him years ago, turning him into a Beast. You know me by the name of Rosalie.". This got the pre-teen boy good, because now he was standing before the one who not only put his father under an enchantment… but also the one that, in a way, brought his mom and dad together. Belle told him long ago as a child that what Rosalie did probably the best thing to happen, for both her and Léandre. It may have caused his father to endure some dark years, but in the long run… it was good to have faced one's self and find true love then live in darkness forever and still not acknowledges one's own shortcomings. The young man went to the enchantress, and bowed a little to her. She smiled, seeing that this young lad had more manners and sense then his father did long ago.
Rosalie spoke up, "Rise, young Célestin. It is good that you know of manners, but you do not have to bow to me. I am here to help you, after all. I want to do my part in bringing that vile witch down.". Mainard rose back up, straightens up and very glad that the enchantress was here to help.
Merryweather and her sisters were glad that everything was coming together nicely, then something popped in her head. She said, "Oh! That reminds me, we need to bring out the rest of our help.". The blue-dressed fairy pulled from her sleeve a purple marble of sort, and the other magical fairies did so as well. Flora pulled out two marbles, Fauna pulled out one, Cateline materialized a marble out of thin air, while Rosalie pulled out a marble from her side pocket. Each marble was of a different color, and glowed brightly. Each of the fairies set the marbles down on the ground, spaced out and in a straight line side-by-side. The three godmothers of Edgard and Dianne pulled out their wands, Cateline pulling hers out of thin air in the same manner she did when she first appeared to Cinderella all those years ago, and Rosalie materialized a golden wand from her crown. The five magical beings aimed their wands at the orbs, and multi-colored lights shot out from them and struck the marbles! Flora had split her magical light into two to hit the ones she pulled out. Once the objects were struck with the magical beams, they glowed with intensity and started to pulse and grow.
"What's happening?!" Regina shouted in fright as she and her brother Carlitos buried their faces in their mother. The lights flashed brilliantly like a star going out, then slowly the lights died down. Standing where the seven marbles were at were… seven small men of some kind. They were about the size of a large child, but these were not children. They were grown men, wearing miners clothing and little cone hats of different color, the same color though as the marbles. They all had various emotional expressions on their faces; one looked very grumpy, the other quite cheerful, another with a little bit of a dopey expression on his face, one that looked very shy like Kathrin when she first arrived to the land, one looked like he had not slept a couple of nights, one had glasses on with a surprised expression on his face, and the last one looked like he was holding back a sneeze.
Kathrin's eyes widened, then a wide smile appeared on her face as she rushed to the one with the dopey expression. She exclaimed, "Hahaha! Dopey! Grumpy! Doc! Bashful! Sleepy! Happy! Sneezy! You're all here!". She hugged Dopey hard, who was a bit stunned after being revived from being a marble, but once he saw Kathrin, he grinned widely and hugged her back. The other seven dwarves looked to see Kathrin, and all of them gathered around to greet the princess, and it seems that even Grumpy was glad to see her. After the little heart-felt reunion was done, Kathrin introduced her friends to the Seven Dwarves and vice-versa. Everyone said hello to one another, and after that was done, Kathrin went to Doc and asked on what happened?
The leader of the dwarves explained, "Well, we were working in the mines in the mountain when these beautiful fairies showed up. They told us on what was going on, and when they got to the part where you were involved and in trouble, we asked on how we could help. So they shrunk us down into marbles, making it easier for them to carry us. And so… here we are!". Grumpy complained that his marble was too small, and it was cramped in here. Kathrin could only smile patiently, knowing that Grumpy was just being himself. When the dwarves saw the monsters, they all yelled in a panic and hid behind Kathrin for protection. Well, no one could blame them since Godzilla and his allies/rivals did look intimidating, no matter what their size. The daughter of Snow White and Florian giggled and told them that they were her friends, and that they would not harm them. Dopey was the first one to test that theory, going straight to the King of the Monsters and poking his legs. He braced himself in a comical manner for whatever may come, but… Godzilla didn't do anything. If anything else, he gave the dwarf a curious look since he did act rather peculiar for a short human. Once Dopey saw that no kind of offensive action was to be taken, he poked again and yet nothing. He grinned and was going to see if he could climb the green-skinned saurian, but Kathrin pulled him back. She told him that now was not the right time, nor the right idea.
Jackson called out, "Okay now! We are all acquainted with one another, and it seems that we now have some magical allies. Now, let's see what we can do to come up with a plan that will really strike a blow for the witch Maleficent.". With nods coming from everywhere, the entire group started to tell about each of their strengths and weaknesses. The fairies in this universe were very curious about the mystical Twin Fairies from the other universe, and vice-versa. While they were discussing, Melody went to her knapsack to get some paper for them to write on. As she was looking through her pack, she saw the drawing she made some days ago. It was the picture of her and the others with their monsters at Sanctuary. She leaned down and touched the drawing gingerly, seeing the happy faces on both her and her friends. She knew the others took their own drawings with them, all of them believing that they were far too important to leave behind. After staring at the drawing for a few moments, she found the papers she was looking for, took them out and closed the knapsack.
"One day… one day, we'll go back to those good times." she whispered to herself as she went back to the group. It seems that the forces of good had some good magical firepower on their side now!
(Author's Notes: Well, how do you like this little twist? The magical beings who helped Cinderella and Aurora, the enchantress who put the spell on the prince who became the Beast, and the Seven Dwarves that aided Snow White are all here! Quite a unique gathering of characters, isn't it? And how do you like the limitations I put on Maleficent's magic concerning the trident and the mind-control of the monsters? And finally, how do you like it that Melody has the fire back in her eyes, the same kind that Ariel gained when she faced Ursula the Sea Witch?
In the next chapter, the heroes, heroines, and monsters execute their plan to sneak into Maleficent's fortress-palace! Surprises at every corner, reunions shown, and also battles galore! Get ready, because the next chapter is when things start to heat up like Godzilla and Fire Rodan's flame breaths!
R&R, no flames, enjoy, and leave long reviews!)
