Hello, it's been quite some time hasn't it? I must admit, writing this chapter was a struggle, as the main story follows the 02 episodes, but coming up with an original entrance of Kouki's group into the Digiworld was extremely hard. After this chapter I'll be posting another Origin chapter and then return to the main story before bouncing back eventually, mostly just highlighting crucial parts of the journey instead of giving all the detail of it. Anyway, I don't own Digimon, but I hope you enjoy this chapter all the same. Make sure to favor, follow or review!

Chapter 5:

Origin: Plesiomon's Flight

"Owryumon, just as you requested we have sent out for help. The Digital World was saved by humans before, and I am sure this new group of children can do the same."

"Thank you, Plesiomon. Before Fujinmon comes I need you to take the eggs to these new Digidestined," Owryumon rumbled, the palace that housed the two dragon Digimon rumbled, rubble falling from the ceiling as the battle outside intensified.

"I won't leave you, Owryumon! Fujinmon will be here any minute. You are already weakened, you don't stand a chance against him!" Plesiomon argued. He glanced towards the eggs Owryumon had been speaking of—five in total—knowing they were to hatch soon even as their caretakers were out at battle with Fujinmon's forces. Owryumon had long since explained they were the last hope of the Digiworld, the great dragon Digimon was prepared to lay down his life for them. But Plesiomon did not have the same sentiment, in all his time serving Owryumon never once had the Mega been defeated.

It was hard to believe they were so close to their doom now.

"We should leave the eggs here and escape, Owryumon," Plesiomon snapped bitterly. Owryumon's expression began to morph in an instant. Even after years of service, Plesiomon had never seen Owryumon this angry. The mighty dragon Digimon swelled with rage, the throne room filling with his anger.

"I know exactly what you think, Plesiomon," Owryumon spat coldly, causing his subordinate to flinch, "But you are wrong, much as you were when you decided to challenge me many years ago." In their nest of collected grass the eggs began to tremble as another blow shook the castle, with a quick glance to his charges, Owryumon took a deep breath. "After you take the eggs to the chosen children, I will dismiss your debt."

Plesiomon's eyes shone at the proposal, shooting another envious look at the eggs, wondering why exactly his master cared so much for them, before nodding. "Very well." The palace shook again, the sound of battle nearing the dragon Digimon as Plesiomon slowly lifted the eggs in his arms, balancing the fifth tediously between his two claws.

One of the walls exploded, showering the throne room with chunks of rubble. Plesiomon sheltered the eggs, looking up to see Fujinmon standing in the newly created hole. "Did you really think that you could keep me out of here forever, Owryumon? Now, give me the eggs," Fujinmon growled, keeping a close eye on Plesiomon.

Fear turned Plesiomon's blood into ice, it was his first time seeing Fujinmon, but all the stories he had heard from the few survivors were forever etched into his mind. This Digimon had once served Owryumon, watching over the eggs of what were to be the most powerful Digimon ever when he had been corrupted by greed. He'd nearly escaped with one egg at that time, but Owryumon had been able to defeat him and rescue his unhatched charge.

"Get away from here, Plesiomon!" Owryumon ordered, swooping down between his servant and Fujinmon. Despite knowing his master could not see him, Plesiomon nodded, darting upwards and creating a hole in the roof with a Shaking Pulse.

"No!" Fujinmon howled behind him. And for a brief moment, Plesiomon thought he had escaped unscathed.

"I understand you're having a hard time coping with your loss Asuka. It's natural. But it has been a month, and you are expected to be completing your assignment on time. You've already fallen behind with the time you took off. Do you understand me, Asuka? Your brother wouldn't have wanted you to put your life on hold because of him," Mr. Akiyama scolded lightly.

Asuka silently fumed at her teacher's words. How was he supposed to know what her brother wanted? It'd only been a month since she'd lost him. She wasn't the only one grieving, her father and mother visited his grave twice a week. Yet, everyone expected her to be okay?

"I understand, Mr. Akiyama. I will work harder," Asuka mumbled. Because there was no use to telling the elementary school teacher what she thought. He wouldn't understand, no one did.

"Thank you, Asuka. Have a good night, and make sure you complete the homework for tomorrow," Mr. Akiyama grinned.

With a final farewell, Asuka left the teachers' room, making her way to the genkan of her school. The late evening sunlight filtered in through the windows, reflecting off the plain white of the hallway, creating an orange glow. It was peaceful, and for a moment she forgot about her emotional distress. Because, just maybe the past month had been a dream. One of which she'd wake up from at any moment.

But the thought was too good to be true. And she knew it. Loosing her brother, the stress from school, old friends dismissing her feelings regarding her loss, her parent's depression, all of it. It was too much to be a dream.

Asuka ambled away from her journey down the hallway, making her way to the window sill as she glanced out over the city.

"I can't take it anymore," she mumbled, "Why did you go Riku?" For the first time since the funeral, Asuka's eyes began to water up. She fought back tears but only for a moment. Muffled sobs echoed around the hallway as Asuka buried her head in her hands. Little did she realize the world that awaited her outside the school was beginning to change.

"Hey! Are you okay?"

Asuka woke up to someone shaking her. She hadn't even realized she had fallen asleep. The golden glow of the evening sun was gone, the hallway barely illuminated with a silver glow. Her eyes felt tender from her crying.

"It seems like she's okay," the same voice uttered with a sigh of relief.

"Seems she had us all worried for a moment there," someone else added.

"Does she have any idea where we are?" a third piped up.

"What do you mean? We're at school," Asuka inquired, looking up to the three other students.

The first, that is the one who had woken her up, was Katsuo Hara, vice president of the student council. They'd been in the same class for the past two years, yet never spoken before now. Standing next to her classmate was Takeshi Hirano, the current student council president. Lastly, Yua Imai, the top student of their grade was standing next to the two boys, looking past Asuka at the window above her head.

Quite the assortment, Asuka thought.

"I know we're in the school, but look outside! It doesn't exactly seem like we're in Tokyo anymore," Yua replied, nodding towards the window.

Asuka frowned, standing up with the aid of the window sill. "What in the world?"

The city had been replaced by a large expanse of a vividly green forest. Strange looking flowers bloomed at the base of some tree trunks, while tangles of vines and bushes only added to the density of the wilderness that awaited them. Cloaked by the undergrowth, Asuka caught sight of ruins of buildings, large plates of steel and even a vending machine.

"It seems you don't know either," Takeshi grumbled, "There's no one else in the school either. I guess our best bet is to go out there and find the closest city."

"Are you kidding me? That's the worst idea I've ever heard! We should wait here for someone to find us, this is the first place they'll look," Yua snapped.

"Have you checked the teachers' office? I was just talking to Mr. Akiyama. He's probably still there," Asuka voiced.

But Takeshi ignored her, rounding on Yua with a glare. "That's even worse, Imai! For all we know, no body has even realized we've disappeared."

"Surely someone would have noticed a whole fourth of a school vanishing!"

"It seems only a section of the school is here, Kimura. We've checked the rest of the school already and it seems like we're the only people here," Katsuo explained, rolling his eyes at the bickering duo.

"But that's impossible!" Asuka protested weakly. It was obvious that such an event wasn't impossible, or else they would have been here now.

Katsuo an inquisitive eyebrow at her statement but shrugged. "Why don't we hold a vote on what we should do?" he suggested, interrupting their peers.

"Very well," Takeshi sniffled, "I vote we go and look for help."

"I vote we stay here," Yua shot back in an instant.

"I agree with Takeshi," Katsuo agreed.

"Me too," Asuka added.

Yua threw her hands up in the air in exasperation. "Seriously?" she scoffed.

"Now, Imai, it was a fair vote. Now, let us rest here for tonight, come morning we'll begin looking around.

Gomamon glanced over his charges, thinking not for the first time if Owryumon had expected the chosen children to arrive long before now. The four Digimon were sleeping quite restlessly. This wasn't the first time for such to happen, but each time Gomamon wondered if it had something to do with the fifth egg.

When he fled once Fujinmon appeared, an attack had caused him to drop the fifth egg. Over the past month he had hoped the unhatched Digimon hadn't survived the fall, if Fujinmon ever got his hands on it. Well, Gomamon shivered at the thought of serving under the current dreaded ruler of the Digiworld.

Since his escape, Gomamon had raised the chosen Digimon in a cave, small and hidden away from Fujinmon's allies. When he'd first arrived, he'd every intention of abandoning the eggs and flying as far away as possible. But something grounded him here, or maybe it was the fact that the four eggs were the only thing to ground him to the life he had before. Whatever it was, the four chosen Digimon had come to depend on Gomamon as something like a parent. A grumpy, sarcastic, bitter parent.

"Gomamon," a small voice questioned.

The seal Digimon's eyes searched through the darkness of night to his curious charge. Gomamon had never seen a Digimon like Stilvomon before. The dark and fire attribute Digimon was a round bundle of dark red and black fur with pointed ears. But his size didn't affect his power, which seemed more rookie like in nature.

"You're supposed to be asleep, Stilvomon," Gomamon stated.

"I'm sorry, Gomamon. But I think its time," Stilvomon muttered.

"Time for what?"

But the in training Digimon did not answer Gomamon's question, having drifted back to sleep. Had Owryumon's chosen finally arrived? Gomamon hoped so.

You're really here.

Katsuo jumped at the voice, glancing around the forest for it's source. It didn't sound like any of the others. But they hadn't seen any signs of life either.

"What's wrong, Hara?" Kimura inquired.

"Nothing, just thought I heard something," Katsuo replied. He was glad his classmate had been transported with them. While they never talked, Katsuo had heard the news about her brother. He couldn't imagine going through something like that. Not to mention, this way he wasn't alone with Takeshi and Imai, who had already gotten in three fights since they woke up.

"This may sound strange, but did it sound like another voice in your mind?"

Katsuo's head shot up, as he looked at his peer in surprise. She was right, it was a strange concept, but if no one had spoken that was the only logical explanation. "Yes, did you hear something like that too?"

Kimura nodded, "This morning, before we left. No one else seemed to hear it so I didn't bring it up. But if you think you heard it too…"

"Be quiet," Imai suddenly hissed, stopping abruptly. She had insisted upon leading them through the forest, and had so far proved herself capable of doing such.

"What is it?" Takeshi questioned.

If looks could kill, the glare Imai shot Takeshi was enough to kill. "What part of quiet don't you understand?" she grimaced, "Listen carefully, we're going to start backing away slowly. Make sure you're staying quiet."

Katsuo began to do as instructed, as he moved he caught a glimpse of what they were moving away from. A large, blue dinosaur like creature with red stripes on its body was drinking from a small pond which lay before them. The student council vice president marveled at the sight of it's large claws, and tribal like features until it's head turned towards them.

"It's seen us," Takeshi hissed.

Katsuo dared to take his eyes off the creature to look at his companions. For all the years he'd known Takeshi, he'd never seen his friend look this terrified before. He trembled, his legs quaking and hands shaking while his face as an unhealthy shade of white. Kimura wasn't much better, looking as if she would pass out at any second. Only Imai was calm in the face of the dinosaur.

"What should we do?" Kimura whispered. She was inching backward, perhaps the only one of the ground still moving away from the creature as it straightened up again, eyeing them cautiously.

As if a switch was flipped, the dinosaur let out a deafening roar, beginning to clamber towards the group.

Was there anything they could do? It was probably faster than them, so there was no way they could run away. No way they could climb a tree fast enough to get away from it. Nor could they be confident the creature wouldn't be able to knock the tree down to get to them.

What do we do?

Don't worry, I'm coming.

Katsuo's eyes shot up, it was the same voice as before. He scanned his surrounding, watching as his companion's faces revealed a similar state of shock as to what he was feeling now.

Who are you?

"Flare Bomb!"

The area was illuminated with a harsh light, practically blinding had Katsuo not the foresight to shield his eyes. When the light dissipated, Katsuo blinked, frantically trying to clear his blurred vision, when something began prodding him forward.

Dark.

It shouldn't have been this dark.

Something, somewhere told him it shouldn't be this dark.

"What have you done, Fujinmon?" a strained voice growled. Whoever it was—whatever it was—was in pain. Unable to save itself.

Had it always been this dark?

"I'm surprised you didn't expect this Owryumon. I am the most power light Digimon after all. Did you really think I would let you use one of my own kind against me? Soon enough they'll be completely under my control, and then I will get the rest of your destined saviors. Just because I cannot destroy you now does not mean they can't, how ironic will it be for those that you worked so hard to protect to be the ones to defeat you."
